A/N: This is a one shot. As per usual, I do not own these characters. Please read and review! Enjoy!
Elliot was rolling around what she had said to him. " This, Elliot, is a one-way street. You haven't asked me one thing about what has happened to me since you left." She was right. I hadn't. She'd been there for me through some of the darkest times in my life. "And this letter- why'd you give me that letter?" The hurt on her face, the pain in her voice- I was the cause of that. And it was true- I had no clue where to start. I knew what we were to each other. And when I left, not telling her, making a clean break, I carried that around with me the whole time I was gone. I know I've got to show here that she's wrong, that I do care. I always have. And I know that I always will. Olivia Benson is not someone that you can just walk away and forget that she existed. No, she is so genuine, she changes you from the inside out by just knowing her. She cares with everything she is, and she is strong and smart and sassy. And I've always known that she is my other half. It will always be "you and I".
Walking into the SVU squad room, I ran into Rollins, and she cocked up an eyebrow at me. I went to walk by her, and she stopped me. "Can I help you with something, Detective?" I get the feeling this Rollins chick doesn't like me much, not that I care. But seeing as how it's keeping me from achieving my current goal, I answer her. "I'm here to see the Captain. Excuse me." She makes no real hurry to get out of my way, so I stop. "Is there something I can help you with, Detective?" She takes a step out of my line, and replies," Cap is busy at the moment, I'm afraid you'll have to wait out here." I take seat, kind of miffed about blondie over here taking attitude with me, but I can see Liv's office from my seat. So I'm thinking about what I'm going to say to her, when I see her door open, and I stand up. Out walks Liv, she's smiling- and then the man that follows her out is the lawyer that defended Wheatley. What the hell was his name? Barber? Barbos? Liv notices me. "Elliot? Is everything alright?" I nod at her, "yeah everything is fine. I just needed to have a word with you. Your office?" She gestures that way, and follows behind me, shutting the door.
"What's this about, El?" She takes a seat behind her desk, and I take a moment to just take it in. She is not the same woman I left 12 years ago. She is different, somehow. Experienced, seasoned, and holds herself like a strong Captain. And she's a mother. I'd gotten to see a little bit of that in action, too, and I always knew she'd be a wonderful mother. "I was hoping to talk to you." She just looks at me for a moment. "I gathered that. About what?" I take a seat in front of her, unsure of how to begin. "I want to talk about you- us. The letter. I want to earn your trust back. I want to show you that I am here. And that I always will be." She sits back slightly in her chair, silent. She searches my face, and I look her straight in her eyes. I'm ready to bare my soul to this woman, and she knows me so well, even now, after all these years apart. We flow the same way, the same current. She stands up, collecting her coat and bag. "Elliot, I understand that you have been going through some rough things. And it's ok, we don't have to do this now. If you're not ready-" I quickly cut her off and strode around her desk, standing face to face. "Liv, I am ready. I want to know what I've missed. I want to be a part of your life again. Please, just come get a cup of coffee with me, and talk a little. We will go at your pace. Just let me in. Please." She was quiet. Then she touched my face ever so slightly, and then pulled her hand away. "El, this is a good place to start." I can't stop the smile stretching across my face. "So, is that a yes?" She smiles and says, " Yes, detective, that is a yes."
