Hello everyone. Apologies for not starting this with the usual gusto that I apply to everything.
It's a bit of a sobering note, to not be able to complete a story, even though you really want to share it and let the whole world see what it is. Whether it be because you can't keep up with the workload, peer pressure from the audience, disillusionment from the story itself, or a thousand other reasons, it is always a sad day when an author announces that a story can no longer go on.
(When the author takes the time to announce a story cancellation instead of just leaving it for dry from the rest of our lives, at least... there's a special place in Heck where those kinds of people belong {SEES SWITCH} dammit, guess I'm going there too...)
For me, I just couldn't find the effort to put into writing this story. I tried not too long ago, but I just couldn't find it in me. I couldn't find the effort to do so.
But there is still a story that I wanted to tell, and I still want to share it with everyone. Originally, I didn't know how to communicate that, but eventually I decided to look to other people's work for inspiration.
College Fool was where I eventually found my footing. If you don't know who College Fool is, I would reckon that he's one of the more famous authors in the RWBY FNDM and had even worked alongside Coeur Al'Aran for one or two of his stories. He's the one behind the Or Something series of works, and most of them are centred around detailing the basic synopsises and summaries of a story, and not the story themselves. The Knight of Lancaster or Something was where I drew particular inspiration from and serves as a basis for the framework of this summary.
Because that's what this is. Not a story, but a summary of the events that would be written in this story, which I shall be releasing arc by arc, chapter by chapter.
Now then, before we begin, let's just get a few notes down that I probably won't be able to go into detail on in the story itself. Bear in mind that these are pretty extensive notes and serve to inform many of the ideas that I would've been working with in the future, so just keep this in mind would you please? Thanks.
But anyways, these are the notes that I want to get down, which serve as the first bits of worldbuilding that I probably won't be able to cover in the summary of the arcs themselves. They go as follows:
There are new types of Grimm that have been introduced, such as the Nine-Tailed Fox (a giant Fox, like the fox from Naruto), the Kitsune (humanoid Grimm reminiscent of Faunus with nine tails and fox ears, dressed in a yukata and wearing a full face mask, designed to seduce and lure in victims like a siren before devouring them), the Succubus and Incubus (humanoid Grimm designed to rape their victims, impregnate them with Grimm matter and parasites from which more Grimm would grow, and inflict the greatest cruelties on them), the Imp (Monkey-like Grimm), the Fallen Angels (humanoid Grimm reminiscent of that of Angels), the Sky Fish (massive Whale-like Grimm that fly through the sky) the Goblin (exactly as mentioned, just as a Grimm), the Cambion (Winged humanoid Grimm outfitted in bone armour like gladiators and armed with weapons made of bones. Born from the parasite within the Succubus and Incubuses' impregnated humans, half-human hybrids and extremely powerful), and the Husks (undead Grimm that are virtually immortal. Capable of reviving dead Grimm around it into an invincible horde of monsters). The Beowolves have also received a change in their existence, as now, alongside the Beowolf Alpha and Beta, there is now the Beowolf Omega, a massive hulking Beowolf covered in sacks and boils of Grimm matter, each one capable of spawning newborn Beowolf Betas. The newborn Beowolves would look like the once from the Red trailer. More emphasis is put on the different types of Grimm and variety that are out there, as well as the different skills beyond brute force that each one has. Hardly any canon Grimm variants would appear.
The Grimm are tiered into different categories and ranks. First there is the Grimm Lessers, that being the weakest forms of Grimm, such as the Boarbatusks, Beowolf Betas, Creeps, Imps, Goblins. Then there are the Grimm minors, being Ursa Minors, Ravagers, Centinels, and so on. As the tiers go up the Grimm get more powerful, until we reach the second to last tier, the Great Grimm, where sits the Wyvern, the Leviathan, the Sky-Fish, Drake, Nine-Tailed Fox and Cambions sit. These Grimm are so powerful that they need multiple teams, even an entire to multiple guilds to take down. After that, there are the God Grimm, monsters so old and powerful that it is said that they were able to develop a conscious and intelligence akin to that of a human, learning their languages, emotions, and capability to reason. Flugel the God Grimm and his cabal of Grimm during the Great War were amongst this number.
The White Fang are at war with their human counterpart, the Human Liberation Front. The HLF are made out of human supremacist families that fought against the Faunus during the Faunus Rights Revolution, many of them having made their fortunes in the Faunus slave trade before it was made illegal after the revolution. Now they seek to keep the Faunus oppressed and keep them under their boots. However, this conflict has only served to exacerbate the radicalization of the White Fang, and the HLF have their hands into many pockets, particularly that of the ruling councils of the kingdoms and the SDC.
The Xiao Long family own a private security company in Vale, being that of X. L. Valerian Securities. They are a small business with only a few professional and retired Huntsmen to their name, but they get by and make a good living for themselves, dealing in domestic issues and police investigations and possible Grimm incursions into the city of Vale. It's not pleasant or famous work, but it's honest work and it pays well, so Ruby and Yang are able to live quite well off. Yang likes to brag about it. Ruby less so.
Providence (which I mentally based off the Grand Army of the Republic from Star Wars) is a private military contractor that had its beginnings in the Great War eighty years ago, when its first members defeated the scourge known as Flugel the God Grimm and his army of Grimm Incubuses, Succubus, Cambions, and Fallen Angels. Since then, they have been steadily growing in force, and in the last ten years they have seen an exponential boom in resources, manpower, and strength, growing strong enough to field an army and navy large enough to challenge Atlas itself. In the present day, they have begun to gain contracts in the kingdoms themselves, providing security for protests and private interests.
The Gods of Remnant have a new origin story, centred around the Four Gods known as Orion the Mother Dragon and her three children, Alnitak the Brother of Light, Alnilam the Brother of Darkness, and Mintaka the Sister of Existence. Orion fought against her children in an event known as the God War, from which she would die, and her corpse would become reality itself, but Mintaka would die, and her corpse would become Remnant whilst her severed tail becoming its moon. Also, there is another deity known as the Caretaker, who supposedly looked after the Brothers of Light and Darkness before they matured into the Gods that Remnant now worships.
Remnant's four kingdoms (and Menagerie) are plagued with a massive refugee crisis. Because villages are being wiped out left and right by the Creatures of Grimm, dozens of people – hundreds, thousands – are flocking into the kingdoms' walls in order to protect themselves. However, this is only exacerbating the resources that the cities have, weakening them further against the Grimm. Since many of these refugees are orphaned children, a network of orphanages have been set up across the planet, but it is a system that, in recent years, has fallen to corruption and neglect, with many of them falling off the map entirely.
There are objects and locations to mystical and magical power and significance across Remnant. This story would've placed a higher emphasis on the supernatural and the unreal in contrast to canon!RWBY.
There are spirits scattered across Remnant known as Aura Constructs, artificial beings made out of aura that hold no solid form or mind and aimlessly wander the world like ghosts. However, these are just myths as far as the world is concerned.
Silver-Eyed Warriors are considered only legends across Remnant, like the old fairy tales and myths that plagued their world's obscured history. However, there are supposed sightings of them scattered across Remnant, and many people have begun to show reverence and worship for these old legends in order to find some measure of peace in their lives.
There have been cults before that have worshipped Silver-Eyed Warriors, but in the last ten years they have all been falling off the map. Ozpin thinks it's Salem. Salem thinks it's Ozpin. No one suspects anyone else.
Silver-Eyed Warriors have more powers than just turning Grimm to stone. It is said that one who looks too long into their eyes can be enraptured by them, turning to their sway in but an instant. It is also said that they have the ability to manipulate and alter a person's body with just a glance. There is some truth to these words. Silver-Eyed Warriors have a latent ability to change and alter the body and mind of a person of weaker will, turning their minds and allegiances to their causes and modifying their bodies to suit their purposes, among other abilities as well.
All Silver-Eyed Warriors are destined to fight the Grimm. That doesn't mean that all of them are good guys…
As you can see from just these notes alone, this story would've served as the opposite of my other story series Ascendancy. If you have read Ascendancy, then you know what I'm talking about. Whereas that story deals in military actions and warfare, this story would've placed a higher emphasis on mystery and the supernatural. Instead of massive armies and empires being the enemy, for the longest times the protagonists' foes would've been more secretive and willing to hide in the shadows and play the long game.
Different themes and ideas, but there would've been a shared darkness between them as well. This story would also deal with themes somewhat similar to Ascendancy, but also in different ones as well, which will become clearer as the story goes on.
This story might've also got somewhat sexual in nature. No doubt there would've been implied sexual content within the story, and possibly even overt sex scenes as well. Who knows? Maybe this would've been possible.
But anyways, let's get this story started with the prologue. The first prologue chapter would be split between six perspectives:
1. The first would be from Ruby Rose as she finishes in Signal Academy for the day, she and her father waving Yang off as she prepares to leave for Beacon Academy, before Ruby decides to head into the city of Vale for a while and meet Taiyang at his company office there.
2. The second would be from Jaune's perspective as he enters Vale, sword and cloak over him as he says goodbye to Saphron and Terra over the scroll, oblivious to their own machinations behind the scenes, and to the truth of the voices inside his head.
3. The third would take place in the Valerian Underworld, as Roman waves goodbye to Neo, on his way to rob more stores of their dust in service to Cinder Fall.
4. The fourth shows Ozpin and Glynda discussing the tensions between the White Fang and the Human Liberation Front, before we are introduced to the newest member of Ozpin's inner circle: The silver eyed Baobhan Sith.
5. The fifth shows a new character by the name of Jaracas, the Aspect of Forgiveness, as he leads prepares a team of mercenaries to venture into the city. In his words, "We're going hunting."
6. And in the darkness, plans are drawn up, grand machinations are made clear, and the Cult of Silver prepares to make its first moves.
So yeah, that's how this story starts, and you can check my original story page to check out the first arc and see where it differs from the original summary, but for now, let's leave that here. I hope you can all join me as I inform you of the awesome idea that I had on me for this fic, and I do hope that it can inform and inspire others and their ideas just as others have done for me.
But anyway, let's leave that here for now. I'll upload the next arc chapter tomorrow, so until then, see you all soon.
Titanmaster 117 out!
