AN: So this will be an extremely less serious fanfiction. Hell, it'll probably be more comedy and the like. It will have its tender moments here and there, but we'll see. If I don't truly plan a story out, I like to see how it can grow organically. That's what is going to happen here. So when it ends, and if it sucks, it's going to suck for everyone - including me - but I'll do my best to make this enjoyable. A huge thanks to my best friend; without her, this chapter wouldn't be as sound as it is now.

Chapter 1: The Last Day of Your Life

Chained footsteps and armored feet walked out of sync as they made their way to great wooden doors. The doors opened with a welcoming creak, and everyone in the wooden seats turned to face the trio. A woman in prisoner garbs stepped forward with her head held high. Even with the deadly glares given by the civilians, the chains dragging across the floor, and the withering gaze of the guards, she remained firm.

The guards followed her closely, guided her past a wooden fence, and sat her down at a simple brown table. Next to her was a well-dressed man for a show. The escorts stood on either side of her keeping a close eye. Adjacent to the four was an injured man in farmer's clothing and another well-dressed man with the same intentions as his counterpart. At the corner of the room, a guard in leather stood at attention.

"All rise for the honorable Judge Judgerson," he commanded. Every person rose when they entered the room and fell when they waved their hand.

"Glynda Goodwitch," the judge announced, "You are being charged with several crimes against the Kingdom of Vale. How do you plea?" Glynda sighed. She knew full well that no matter how she pleaded, they would find her guilty, and escaping was impossible due to the chains around her.

"Guilty. She's guilty. That dirty witch used my entire village as an experiment," shouted one of the viewers.

"She turned my brother into a toad," another one said.

"She destroyed my fields with a spell of hers and summoned Grimm," another one said. The crowd behind Glynda became an uproar. She was sure they would leap over the fence and jump her any minute. She was convinced that even the escorts would let it happen. The judge rapped their gavel several times but got no response.

The crowd was becoming increasingly restless by the moment, and Glynda could see the guards tighten their grip on her chains. Then just as loud as thunder, a boom echoed through the room. The room's occupants turned to the same wooden doors Glynda had entered. Within the archway was a ray of hope for the disgruntled citizens. To the Goodwitch, it was a living reminder of who brought her here.

Dressed in a combination of armor and ornate green robs was a gray-haired man, supported by a plain walking cane. Shaded glasses decorated his face, and his calm expression seemed to pass everyone. He met Glynda's eyes and gave a knowing smirk. He calmly and silently walked to a seat where a citizen made space for him.

The judge coughed into their fist to bring attention to them, but the crowd, except for Glynda, still lingered on the man's form. The man chuckled to himself, but it echoed across the room. "Apologies, Judge Judgerson. I just wish to see what would happen to my charge," he said.

"No, no, it's fine. You brought the crowd to a calm, so I must thank you. Now on with today's business. How do you plea, Glynda Goodwitch?" The judge questioned.

"Guilty," she said with no remorse. She did what she did and wasn't about to apologize for her actions. All of her tests led her to this outcome, even if it hadn't become widespread. Her family cut all ties when she was first branded as a criminal. Her friends came next, trying to sway her off the path before her.

Finally, her lover sold her out when she became infamous. The price on her head was high enough for any one person to live out their life. It might be for naught, but she knew her ideas would still get out. Her familiars and colleagues wouldn't let her down. People and beasts she found in comradery towards her goal.

She wasn't the first one to be jailed for what she did, and she wouldn't be the last - until the job was done. "So be it," Judge Judgerson said. "Your verdict is decided, and your sentence will be just. For your extensive crimes against the Kingdom of Vale, you will be put into rehabilitation and then servitude to the kingdom for 50 years. Court dismissed," the judge rapped their gavel once more.

Glynda sat in a holding cell, waiting for her transportation to be settled. I suppose I'll be put in Solomon's Lamp. They probably want that paradigm shift to happen soon so I can serve my sentence. The man in ornate clothing entered the holding cell. He stood near the door and waved off the guard.

Without question, the guard walked off to another area while he left Glynda and the man alone. "So what do I owe the pleasure to have Ozpin of the Emerald to greet me," Glynda said sarcastically.

"Oh, now. That tone is unbecoming of you, Glynda The Badwitch," Ozpin said jokingly. She gave him a flat stare from her bench. "Now, I just wanted to inform you who will be watching over you." Glynda raised an eyebrow at that sentence.

"What do you mean? I am Glynda The Badwitch. Who would be strong enough to watch over me?" She said with overwhelming pride.

"Oh, I know; after all, I am still recovering from our battle. Thankfully I had Knights of the Hunt to aid me in your capture," Ozpin said while rubbing his side.

"Oh yes, the Knights of the Hunt, lead by the White Rose. She was something else when we fought. The same could be said about the Bandit Queen. I didn't think she would be one to aid the country," she said while pondering the idea of the Bandit Queen's assistance.

"Well, yes. Summer does have her way with people. There was always something in it for Raven as well. It gave her bandits immunity for as long as she is the head," Ozpin said as he took off his glasses to clean them.

"Riveting, so who shall be my Overseer? The Man of Misfortune, the Human Dragon, or could it be The Grand Arc or even you?" Glynda listed the names as if they were stray thoughts in her mind.

"Actually, it will be The Paladin," Ozpin said as he brought a mug to his hand out of thin air. Glynda blanched and looked at Ozpin like he was crazy. "He's an up-and-coming warrior who acquired his name during the raid of Ansel and slayed The Wandering Grimm. You'll be in good hands."

"While I'll take your word of his skill, do you honestly believe a greenhorn will be able to handle me?" Glynda questioned.

"Well, he just might be, but there is also another reason why he was chosen. He is a part of the Knights of the Hunt. So officially, you will be under the care and supervision of that order," Ozpin said as he brought his mug to his mouth. Glynda tossed her hair over her shoulder and refused to look at Ozpin. Ozpin spoke in a magical tongue and encased the cell in a light blue cube.

"Your research was recovered before it got too far," Ozpin stated. Glynda turned back to the man and stared him down for all his worth. If looks could kill, Ozpin would already be in the afterlife. She sighed with the first sign of emotion other than pride since she got captured. After a moment, she regained a mask of reservedness and faced the man.

"How?" She asked.

"Well, we had Kingdom Guards and Wyvern Riders with wizard copilots fully surrounding your home." Her mask fell, and she leaped forward to grab Ozpin. However, her chains stopped her from fully reaching the man. He simply took another sip of his warm drink.

"You don't understand what that research means nor what it could mean for the entire world. About the Grimm, magic, us, the faunus, and every other demi human creature on this planet," she raged with the only restraint being her chains.

"No, I don't believe you understand what your research means. You should also keep your voice down, or a guard will hear you."

"I know very well that you silenced this room. I could set off a bomb, and no one would hear it. That's how great you are, after all," she said, scoffing.

"I'm sure you'll thank me later," Ozpin said as he walked out of the cell. The blue hue left with him, "Don't be causing trouble for the young paladin. I quite like him, and so does the rest of the Hunt."

Glynda slumped against the wall as she reveled in the news. I counted my chickens before they hatched, and now this happened. I should have expected this, but here I am now. But if he genuinely is a greenhorn, I might be able to get out.

After hours of riding in a prison cart, Glynda Goodwitch sat up to see the Knights of the Hunt's base of operations. They passed by smaller homes on the way there, each with a family emblem strapped to the front. It was a forest estate that stretched for miles. Magical energy brimmed off the trees surrounding the manor in the center of the land.

The main house was several times larger than most homes except for one. The size of the place seemed to imply that it could easily house ten families and had the staff to do so as well. Gardeners, maids, and butlers all moved across the land to do whatever task they had been assigned that day.

The cart came to a stop, and the driver dismounted. From the back of the cage came a raspy voice Glynda dreaded to hear once more. "Hey, look what we have here. A bad little witch who doesn't know when to stop playing with her toys." Glynda turned to see a man in leather with a grey shirt poking out from underneath. A tattered red cloak adorned his person with a single-edged great sword by his side— all topped off with his black riding boots and pants.

"Qrow, don't tease her. Even if she is chained and can't use magic, that doesn't mean she can't wreak havoc for Jaune," said the blonde man beside him. The blond man was dressed in a brown shirt with leather armor on top like Qrow. Although, unlike Qrow, he had two simple shoulder pauldrons on his person. On his right arm, he wore an ornate red bandana on top of an orange one. His tan shorts held different dust crystals— all cut to fit the compartments of the knuckle dusters on his fist.

"You sure being around me is the best idea, you walking bad luck charm?" Glynda asked with a raised eyebrow. The blonde laughed while The Man of Misfortune shook his fist at her.

"Yeah, well, you're not so high and mighty with those cuffs around your neck," Qrow said. He stepped forward and unlocked the cage that held Glynda. "Come on now. Let's meet the boss and then the kid." Qrow stepped back and waited for her to step out.

"Don't worry; I won't let him hurt you," the blond man laughed again as Qrow focused his ire on him. Glynda sighed and stepped down onto the stone with her bare feet. They entered the estate and were greeted with a grand sight. There was a statue that depicted the founders of the order in the center of the entrance, a portly man with a war axe in one hand and a dust gun in the other. He was relaxed but ready for any challenge. A mage shrouded in robes seemed to reach out to anyone standing before it.

The mage's hand was on a tome, and the other reached out to slay any who crossed their path. There was a faunus with deer antlers with her sword ready to strike. Excitement was captured in her face, doe-like eyes not wavering at whatever charged her. Finally, in the center, Ozpin stood with his hands calmly placed on an equally ornate staff. Glynda scoffed at his visage and gave it little attention.

They rounded the statue on a set of stairs that hugged the walls. When they reached the top, walls were decorated with paintings that intrigued Glynda. Some depicted the worst failures and greatest successes. Others just showed the order passing the time. They entered the french doors at the end of the hall and discovered a room filled with stacked paper.

Glynda spotted what could be bookcases on the walls past the towers of parchment. A fancy desk sat at the back of the room but was overlooked by the stacks. A head of black hair looked up from the desk and revealed the ends turning a soft red. This mess of a creature looked haggard and gave a weak smile to the trio. She's a far cry from what she was on the battlefield, the Badwitch thought.

"Ah Qrow, Taiyang, and oh, Glynda. You're here. Is it really Tuesday already?" She questioned.

"Yeah, it is, short stack. How long have you been stuck in here?" Qrow asked as he looked around the room.

"Uh," she drawled out far too many seconds. Taiyang walked behind her and rubbed her shoulders.

"Summer, honey, have you been eating?" He questioned as he looked her up and down.

"Oh, course I have; I'm not a child," she crossed her arms and harrumphed. Her stomach grumbled in protest to prove her wrong. Taiyang and Qrow gave the diminutive leader the stink eye as she sat under their scrutiny. Glynda couldn't believe the sight before her. This was the second leader of the order, and she was being looked down on by her subordinates. The prisoner coughed and got the attention of the room.

"Right," Summer fixed her clothing and sat straight. "Welcome Glynda Goodwitch to the Knights of the Hunt's estate. We hope that your rehabilitation is quick and that you won't do anything to provoke your Overseer." Glynda scoffed at the idea. Summer, Taiyang, and Qrow all sharpened their gaze at the woman, making her skin crawl.

"Make no mistake; we are regarding this with the utmost importance. After careful deliberation, we have chosen Jaune to be the very person to look over you. Should you, on a slim chance, escape him or even kill him," the sound of Taiyang's fist and Qrow's hand on his sword demonstrated her point, "We have every right to kill you. You might have power that rivals Ozpin. He may not be here, but we are more than enough to take you down."

The room's pressure left as quickly as it entered, and the three knights relaxed. Glynda held a mask of neutrality but was visibly shaking. "Now that we got that out of the way. Let's go see Jauney," Summer said as she stood up, all too excited to leave the room.

"No, you're going to get something in that stomach of yours and some sleep," Taiyang said as he pushed his partner toward the side door in the room. "I'll make sure a butler gets you some warm food."

"But I want to eat Jaune's food," she pouted, digging her feet into the floor in protest. There was a significant height difference between Taiyang and Summer. So, he just looked over her and gave her a deadpan stare. She returned with her pout. The battle was held for several seconds until Summer caved in and walked the rest of the way.

A pair of shoes were shoved in Glynda's face, and she glared at the smirking face of Qrow. "You're going to need this." She took the shoes that were just too big to fit and noticed the man missing his boots.

"And how do you suppose you'll follow us then, Misfortune?" Glynda questioned with her arms crossed.

"Man, you just don't drop the act no matter what, don't you? Well, like this," Qrow then became a small black ball that sprouted wings and feathers. Finally, pale red eyes opened, and a crow looked up at Glynda.

"I knew you were blessed by magic, but to be given animal transformation? It must have been Ozpin." From behind, Taiyang walked up and pushed Glynda forward.

"You'd be right," he said as he guided Glynda. "Come on, Qrow," he shouted back. Qrow flew forward and landed in Glynda's platinum blond hair. She boiled at the bird man's brazen act but didn't do anything.

A five-minute walk through the woods and across a river brought Glynda to a small home just out of sight from the rest of the world. A one-story house sat, hugged by the trees surrounding it, but they never seemed to get too close to the home. A small flower bed sat in front of a window of the brick cottage. Then, a sudden boom echoed across the forest, and Glynda whipped her head around, looking for the source.

Her guards were calm as ever as if that were an everyday occurrence for the place. The door swung open, and a smoking young man with ash-covered hair stepped out. He took several deep breaths and then threw up whatever was in his stomach. Qrow flew off the crown of her head and transformed next to the man. "You okay, kid?" he asked.

The man in question nodded his head in confirmation. Qrow offered him a flask, and he took it with greed. He then spat it out and coughed again. "Why did you give me alcohol?" He said in between coughs. Qrow just shrugged and started to pat the ash off of his head.

"Come on. Your charge is here. So shape up, kid," Qrow said as he stood him up. Glynda studied the man before her.

This is the man to look over me? He's just a child. How can he do anything against me? The now blond mop of hair stood up and straightened out his clothing. He scratched the back of his head and held out his hand.

"Sorry about that; I was testing out a new idea for a friend. Name's Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, and it rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it," he said with confidence.

AN: And welcome to The Knight and The Witch, ladies and gentlemen, and everyone in between. I've never written a romance story in my entire life, so I hope this goes well. This should be fun. This story will come out a day after The Witch's Apperitance if you follow that one. The story recommendation I have for you all would be "You, Me, and Everyone in Between" by Leafy Dream.

I just adore the story, and I think it's well done. From focusing on mental health and DID to recovering from past relationships and being down on your luck. It's really fun if you're into romance. I even cried while reading it. Side note any recommendations on people I can commission for cover art? Now that I have a job, I want to get some by next month if my budget allows. I might live with my parents right now, but budgeting is something everyone should do regardless of their position if able.

Goodness, I've never done comedy as well, so I hope I can do it well. I'll have a test stream on Monday to test out the new internet I just got. I'll be writing the new chapters, working on The Roar of a Hero (new fanfiction that will come out next month), and Valornat. The URL is twitch .tv/dragoo_fire but without the spaces. Also, does anyone want to see more of The Secret of the Rainbow? It's a one-shot I did, and it's the opposite idea of those betrayal stories. If you like what I make and want to see more, find me on Youtube, Twitch, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook at Dragoo_Fire.
