'Shit! Shit! Shit! SHIIIT!' Mentally screaming as I dodge a swipe of a massive paw, definitely big enough to cover my face and a half. The Ursa Major luckily, while big, is very sloppy for something this old. Considering that as a Grimm survives an encounter, they become smarter... Or so it goes.
'Ahhhhhh! Move or you'll die!' Thankfully I didn't have to, as a bronze spear tip pierced the the back of the skull with a dull crack.
"Jaune! Oh thank Oum you're alive!" A young woman with scarlet hair and bronze armor, cried out happily as she helped me up.
"Yeah, thankfully the Ursa Major was sloppy in it's attacks." I replied with a sigh of relief.
"Still though, that was a nasty fall. Are you sure you're alright?" She sent me a worried look, clearly taking the whole 'The first one you meet, will be your partner for the next four years' schtick from Professor Ozpin.
Which I am very thankful, thank you very much! So I ain't complaining! Much anyway. I mean... Who launches children like they're boulders from catapults?!
"Yeah, I'm doing great!" Except I wasn't. That fall from a smaller cliff after Pyrrha and I partnered up, was still a cliff.
"No you're not." She gave me a deadpan stare. Well geeze, way to give mom a run for her money.
I chuckled, but that only cause me pain... Ah, my side's hurting.
"Your aura didn't protect you?" Aura? what's that?
"Aura? Oh, yeah it did actually." I tried to lie, but she frowned at that.
"Jaune, do even know what Aura is?" She asked, clearly knowing I have no idea what that is.
"Uhh." I tried, I truly did. But her deadpan stare is really giving me a nervous breakdown... Where is Ruby when you need her to cause a distraction!
Or maybe Weiss... Yeah, she would help me... Right?
"For the love of... Jaune, did you seriously tried to become a Huntsman without Aura?" She gave me a disappointed glare.
"Well uh... Yeah." Well, there's that I guess. No more Jaune the Huntsman. What should I say to my family when I get back.
She sighed, clearly disappointed. yet she smiled.
"Alright, come here." Wait what?
"I'll unlock your Aura for you." Ok... Wait, does that mean she won't tell the Professors?!
She didn't say anything, only patiently waited for me. Well, seems like I won't be going home anytime soon!
I moved forward, and she immediately placed her hand on my right cheek.
"Now, close your eyes and concentrate."
"Uh... Ok?" And I did close my eyes and concentrate.
"For it is in passing, we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory."
I can feel something within me swell. Yet it's not painful nor uncomfortable. Rather, it is sharp, cold, and unbending. Almost like the cold bite of steel, yet it feels as if though I'm the one holding it.
"to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder, protect thee."
I ft her hand leave my cheek, and the power that's building inside me slowly dissipates, yet not fully disappearing. Rather, it's just there, waiting, like a sword ready to be drawn.
"You may open your eyes now." She said, sounding a little bit winded.
"Woah, that felt... Incredible." I softly spoke, in awe at what I've just experienced.
"Pyrrha? you ok?" I asked my clearly winded partner.
"I'm fine, it's just... You have a lot of Aura, Jaune. I wasn't expecting that." She said, assuring me it's nothing serious.
"Huh, but still though. Will the glowing stop?" I noticed how my hands and my whole body is shining, almost as if I'm literally a light in the dark.
The steel gray glow, slowly dimmed. and a few moments later, it was gone. Huh, I guess that answers that.
"Well, there's your answer Jaune. Now let's get a move on, ok?" She said, fully recovered from her little task.
"Right." I replied, and followed after her. Only to stumble as I tripped on a rock, much to her amusement.
"Guys! it's circling back!" I yelled, garnering the attention of Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang to the circling Elder Nevermore. All the while escaping another elder Grimm, a massive Death Stalker.
Thankfully, it cannot chase us as we were on a narrow stone bridge. But that didn't last long, when the Nevermore not only flew between my group and theirs, it also broke off part of the bridge.
So now Me, Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora are stuck dealing with the Death Stalker.
Having no choice on the matter, I drew Crocea Mors, Nora transformed Magnhild to a Hammer, Pyrrha turned Milo into a spear, and Ren aimed Storm flower at the Death Stalker.
Without any signal, we all attacked at the same time. Ren moving in first to distract the Death Stalker, with Me and Pyrrha taking care of the claws. Nora got a good window to hit the Grimm, and did so with a mighty slam of her hammer.
The Grimm roared, and Pyrrha threw Akūo, her Shield. At the Death Stalker, only to miss slightly as it hit the base of the stinger.
My eyes noticed the loose stinger, and an idea came into mind.
"Pyrrha! The tail!" Seeing what I meant, she quickly shot the tail twice, further severing the tail, but not fully cutting it off. Ren kept it's attention on him, with Nora backing him up, and I looked at Pyrrha who nodded.
We ran, Pyrrha stopping in front of me and crouched down with her shield in front of her. I sped up, stepped on her shield, and she threw me up and above the Death Stalker. My grip on Crocea Mors tightening, eyes straight and focused on my target. With a forceful grunt, I swiped Crocrea Mors' blade at the loosened stinger, fully severing it from the base.
I landed just in front of the now screaming Death Stalker. Jumping back, I only gave Nora one order.
"Nora! Smash!" She grinned excitedly at my command, and with her Hammer she flew up by launching a grenade near her foot. Launching her straight at the Death Stalker that has its stinger embedded on its skull.
With a mighty yell, she flipped in the air and forcefully slammed the head of her Hammer at the tail, digging the stinger deep to it's skull, and to make sure it's actually dead. Nora fired, literally flattening the stinger into the head.
The Death Stalker didn't even let out a shrill cry as it pathetically collapsed under its own weight.
We cheered, but the screech of the Nevermore ended our early celebration.
It's tail feathers stuck on ice, as Ruby, Weiss, and Blake formed together a makeshift sling shot, with Ruby as the ammunition.
We couldn't hear what they were saying but that could cost them their set up as I noticed the Nevermore slowly breaking the ice.
The trio continued to aim, but as a show of strength. The Nevermore broke free, and flew up high. The girls yelled in surprise and the Nevermore dove.
I want to help them, yet I'm limited with how I could. I'm not fast nor strong enough to jump over that gap! Not just that, but with how they fought. more pieces of the bridge collapsed, further widening the gap.
"We need to help them!" I yelled.
"How!? Even if Nora can launch herself over, what could that help when her grenades barely even flinched the thing!" Pyrrha countered.
"We need to do something!" I started to panic, my mind playing a vision of them getting bodied by the overgrown avian, and forcing them to fall to their demise.
'I need to do something, anything! Think Jaune, think!' I mentally screamed at myself, panic rising like steam, and my brain brainstorming of ideas on how to aid them quickly.
"Are you sure about that?" A voice suddenly cuts off my line of thoughts. My surrounding freezing in time, as something is definitely influencing the flow of time... Or maybe it's just my perception of it.
'What the!? who said that?!' The only reply I could hear was a deep chuckle. As if mocking me.
"You want to save them or not?" The deep voice repeated, clearly being sarcastic.
'Yes! I don't care what it would take! I need- no! I want to help them!' I yelled mentally.
"Even if it means losing parts of yourself? Tell me Jaune Arc, will saving them mean something?" The voice spoke, it's tone mocking, yet serious at the same time.
'I don't care if it doesn't mean anything! People! Friends are about to die if I don't do something!' I yelled again, only to hear a sigh.
"Fine, I'm forced to help you even if I didn't consent to it. Now hold out your hands and concentrate" The voice tiredly replied, and I did what he told me.
Immediately, the world resumed and I held out my hands.
A sleek Ebony Black bow that should be impossible to wield appeared on my left hand, it's weight heavy yet it feels familiar and comforting to me. And I can see greenish blue lines appearing on my arms, as the bow manifests.
"Jaune?" I heard Pyrrha question me, and both Ren and Nora casting a questioning look at me.
But I ignored them, there are much more important things to focus on for now.
"Now pull the string, and think of a sword" The voice spoke again, and I followed his instructions.
I pulled the string, while thinking of a sword. Immediately, in between both the knocked string and the body of the bow. A copy of Crocea Mors appeared. How do I know it's a copy? I can still feel the weight of it on my hip.
How could a sword be an arrow? it's impossible!
"Then turn it into an arrow." 'What?! what do you mean turn it into an arrow?! That's impossible!' I didn't receive a reply, instead. I felt something inside me heat up slowly as I saw the Crocea Mors copy twist itself into a crude arrow of steel.
I didn't even question it as the Nevermore came closer at the fear stricken girls.
I narrowed my eyes, steadied my breath, and aimed the bow, like as if I've held such a weapon my whole life.
With a loud thwack sound, the Sword Arrow flew. The spinning piece of metal making a sound similar to a bullet but with a more high pitched shrill.
It flew straight and true, piercing the Nevermore where it's heart should be and the force of said shot, knocked it back again on the cliff wall.
The girls immediately shook off their surprise and Weiss fired Ruby. Said girl flew towards the Nevermore using her semblance, that left a trail of rose petals.
She then caught the neck of the still living Nevermore in between the blade of her scythe and the cliff wall before running up the wall where Weiss' glyphs are lined up, with gravity that allowed Ruby to stick on the wall.
She gained more speed, as she used the recoil of her scythe to increase said speed alongside her semblance. With a mighty yell, she decapitated the Nevermore using the cliff edge.
She stayed airborne for a few more moments before landing gracefully on the cliff. A proud smile on her face, while everyone else cheered.
Well, before anything. This is merely a test fic, to see if people would also want this kind of crossover. I myself has seen a lot, but many of it are inserts of Fate characters into the RWBY-verse. While it's good and all, but I suppose I got tired of it? yeah, let's go with that. While the others that are similar to this is long abandoned. Anyway, this is also just a side story that I'm planning on randomly updating, so expect it to be ignored by more by some time. But until I get fifteen chapters of "A Crow's Second Flight" This won't be updated frequently. That's all and hope you people like this, please leave your thoughts of the chapter, on the review page please.
