Third-Person POV

August 1, 2010. To the average person, this was a day like any other. Clear skies, sun shining, birds chirping. A perfectly ordinary day.

However, to the demigod, this was not any ordinary day.

The Romans were marching onto the Greek camp, led by a power-hungry augur, Octavian. Their mission, to exterminate any and all Greek demigods.

The Greeks were readying their defense, most of them unwilling to fight other demigods, but able to, to protect themselves from the power-hungry Augur.

The Hunters and Amazons were reeling from the devastating blow Orion dealt when he outmaneuvered the both of them.

Nico di Angelo, William Solace, Cecil Markowitz, and Lou Ellen were running around the Roman camp, sabotaging equipment, and slowing down the Romans advance.

Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano was trying to save Percy's pegasus and friend, Blackjack, after he was shot by Orion.

But nothing compared to the absolute destruction and devastation that was occurring on the other side of the world, in Greece.

Jason Grace, son of Jupiter.

Piper McLean, daughter of Aphrodite.

Leonidas "Leo" Valdez, son of Hephaestus.

Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto.

Frank Zhang, son of Mars.

Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena.

Perseus "Percy" Jackson, son of Poseidon.

These seven heroes were all that stood in between the Giants and Gaia rising.

The fight started out fine, with each of the heroes holding off multiple giants, but eventually, the giants gained the upper hand.

Percy POV

"Where are the gods!?" I screamed over the raging storm that Jason and I had conjured up.

"No idea!" I heard a voice, that vaguely sounded like Frank, yell back.

Dodging another swipe from Porphyrion (he seems to have taken my tripping him as a personal insult), I rolled out of his reach. Unfortunately, I rolled right into the path of Enceladus, who whacked me with his spear, and I went sprawling.

Over the din of the storm, I vaguely heard Enceladus and Porphyrion.

"Come on, Enceladus, let us finish him, and spill his blood."

Fortunately for me, a massive elephant slammed into the both of them before they could kill me. Blinking my eyes to re-orient myself, I felt myself getting hoisted up by the said elephant, who had transformed into good old Frank.

"You good?" He asked me.

"Yea."

"Ready to get back in the fight?"

"No, but when is that ever an option."

Lifting his lips up in a small smile, we charged back into the battle.

Minutes felt like hours, as all seven of us battled the Giants, making no headway.

When it seemed like all was lost, we saw the light.

Literally.

The clouds opened up, letting in the of us, including the Giants, looked up in amazement. We saw the gods, riding into battle on their chariots. In a flash, the gods disappeared, reappearing by our side.

"Demigods, let us end this. We will not give up. We will fight, until our last breath, knowing that if we fail, at least we did our best. No surrender!" Zeus yelled, charging straight at Porphyrion, blasting him with lightning. All the gods yelled battle cries, charging in after Zeus.

Rolling my eyes at the gods, I gave a nod to the rest of my friends, before we jumped into the fray.

Jason joined Zeus, continuously blowing Porphyrion with winds and blasting him with lightning.

Piper was fighting Periboia, with Aphrodite constantly blinding Periboia with doves.

Hazel was on Arion's back (I have no idea where he came from), slashing at the giants at the edges of the fray. Hecate was teleporting in her wake, setting fire to any giants unfortunate enough to be hit by Hazel. I couldn't see Hades, but the shadows in the arena coalesced around the giants Hazel charged at, stopping them from dodging out of the way.

Leo and Hepheastus were blasting fire at any giants stupid enough to come close to them, while also quickly building small contraptions to keep the giants off-guard.

Frank had transformed into a dragon, setting large groups of the small giants ablaze, before Ares charged in, with a feral grin plastered on his face, and finished them off.

Annabeth and Athena worked together as one, pushing Mimas back. They moved in sync, alternating strikes to keep him from being able to retaliate.

I was running to help my father, who was fighting Enceladus, when I heard a yell. I skidded to a stop, whipping my head around to the source of the yell.

Artemis and Apollo seem to have bitten off a bit more than they can chew, having been surrounded by multiple giants. They were both on the ground, their weapons scattered out of reach.

Making a split second decision, I ran to them, shoulder charging one of the giants into his brethren, like bowling pins, before the ground opened up and swallowed them (Thank you Hades).

Holding out my arms, I pulled both of them to their feet, before I heard a familiar grunt.

Enceladus had knocked my father back with his spear, and was poised to strike him.

Reacting on instinct, I grabbed a fallen bow, and nocked an arrow. Silently praying to the archery twins behind me, I released the arrow.

Flying true, the arrow struck Enceladus in his neck, causing him to stumble. Using the distraction, my father speared his trident through Enceladus, causing him to turn to dust.

I turned back to the twins, who were looking at me, shocked.

"What? What's wrong?" I asked them.

Apollo just mutely pointed at the bow in my hand.

I looked down at the bow, and realized that it was Artemis', and I paled slightly.

"I'm so sorry Lady Artemis, I didn't mean to take your bow, I just acted on instinct. Please don't hurt me." I practically begged her. I held the bow out to her, bowing my head, but she just shook her head. With a snap of her fingers, a quiver of arrows appeared on my back. Confusedly, I cocked my head.

"Keep it, you're going to need a ranged weapon," she said, before whipping out a pair of hunting knives and charging at some giants who managed to escape Ares' wrath.

Apollo just patted me on my shoulder, causing me to glow golden for a brief moment, before whipping out his own bow.

"I guess I should bless you so that you don't need my help, eh little cuz?" he said cheerfully, as if his sister hadn't just gifted her own weapon to a male demigod.

However, before I could say anything, he walked off, calmly firing arrows at a blindingly fast rate at the giants attempting to sneak up on Artemis, who was currently repeatedly bashing a Lastrygonians face in.

Shaking my confusion off, I scanned around briefly, before running to Frank, who was currently in a grizzly bear form, engaged in a wrestling match against Thoon, with Hazel cutting him with her spatha while running circles around him on Arion.. Nocking an arrow, I drew it to full power, before releasing it. True to Apollo's word, my arrow actually flew straight, and pierced Thoon through his heart. Stumbling back, Thoon looked in my direction, eyes wide in shock, before crumbling to dust.

Huh, I thought to myself, I guess the bow counts as a god's assistance.

While I was thinking that, Frank had transformed back into his regular self, and both he and Hazel were staring at me in shock.

"Percy?" Frank asked after a moment of silence

"When-" Hazel continued, but I cut her off.

"Later guys, now we need to fight."

Nodding, we took a step towards the fray, but a massive rumbling stopped us. At the end of the Acropolis, the Earth rose in a massive wave. Hades himself was ejected from the ground. We ran to where the rest of the seven had huddled together.

"What happened?" I yelled over the rumble, "I thought Dirt Face should still be sleeping?"

Jason and Piper looked at me guiltily, and thats when I noticed the long gashes that they both sported on their upper torsos, dripping blood onto the ground.

Groaning, I turn back ready to face Queen Dirt Face herself.

I was surprised by her appearance. I expected just another ugly brute, like the giants, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

She looked like those fairy tales where Mother Earth appears and bestows benevolence upon the creatures of the wild. Her eyes, however, ruined the whole image. Those dark, green eyes of hers didn't have any benevolence, just hatred and malice.

"Descendants of mine," she spoke sleepily, "I have seen enough. You have failed. You have no hope of defeating me. Enough. Enough death. Enough life. You have no pieces left to play. You lost the minute you engaged us. Watch, puny gods, as I wipe your children out. Then, I will wipe you out. You stand no chance against me. I have fought more battles than all of you combined. I strengthen every second. I am already more powerful than you. Surrender, and I might give you a swift death. Say your goodbyes, you will not live long enough to see the end of the world.

Pure terror boiled within me, as I watched her create a massive fist out of the ground and sent it smashing towards us.

"Scatter!" I yelled.

All of us managed to avoid the fist.

All of us except Annabeth and Jason.

"No! Annabeth!" I cried out as Piper cried out for Jason.

Gaia laughed, recalling her dirt fist.

Third-Person POV

Gaia thought she had won, but the son of Poseidon and son of Hephaestus had other ideas. Both of these demigods were enraged, livid that Gaia had taken away those closest to them. A storm, greater than anything the world had ever seen before, quickly formed around the Acropolis. A massive hurricane started pulling Gaia. With wind speeds even greater than those found on Neptune (the planet) Percy pulled Gaia away from the ground, suspending her in the air. All of a sudden, the temperature within the eye of the storm rose. It rose to blisteringly high temperatures, temperatures high enough to melt solid steel.

"What is this!" The enraged Earth goddes yelled, but neither Percy nor Leo gave any response, both too focused on ending the life of the primordial before them.

Gaia started literally disintegrating. Her dirt body was being eroded by the wind and the water. Percy was pouring all his strength into the hurricane, it was larger and stronger than anything he had ever summoned. She tried lashing out at him, but the winds were too strong, and they ripped right through it. When her body was about halfway gone, Leo started pouring all his power into the heat, until Gaia was covered in Greek Fire. She was melting away, and within minutes, she was gone. Back asleep. Hopefully forever this time.

But, this win was not without a cost. Both Percy and Leo had used every ounce of power they had, to the extent that they started draining their life forces. Leo collapsed, having been killed for having relatively little experience with power fatigue, Percy falling exhausted beside him.

The remainder of his friends rushed to them, the gods close behind.

"Apollo!" Percy heard on of his friends call out, but for the life of him, couldn't hear who said it.

This is it, he though, This is the end.

Apollo rushed through his friends, pushing them aside as he placed his hands on both Leo and Percy.

After a moment, Apollo hung his head low.

"I can't help them. Leo is dead, and Percy is dying. There's nothing I can do."

"Please nephew," Poseidon called out, desperate to save Percy, "Surely you can do something?"

"I'm sorry Uncle P," Apollo said, choking up, "This is beyond even my capabilities."

"The physician's cure, we could save them!" Piper called out, before looking crestfallen, "But we only have one vial."

"U-use it o-on Le-Leo," a weak voice groaned.

Percy didn't want to be healed. He knew it was selfish to leave his friends and family behind, especially his mother, but he wanted to be with Annabeth.

"Son, no," Poseidon begged, hoping for just this once, Percy would listen to him, but deep down, he knew that Percy didn't want to live without the daughter of Athena.

"So-sorry dad, I c-can't l-live with-without -" Percy started, but was immediately cut off by Poseidon.

"I know son," he said softly, "I know."

Poseidon turned to Hermes and nodded, and in a flash, Hermes disappeared, before reappearing moments later with Sally.

"No, Percy!" she cried out, rushing to him and cradling his head in her lap.

"H-Hey mom, th-thanks for ev-everything, and I-I'm sorry f-for not being be-better." I groaned softly, feeling it getting harder to stay awake.

"No Percy, you were perfect. I hope you find peace in the afterlife." Sally said, before dissolving into another round of tears.

"Thanks mom," Percy whispered, smiling softly as he closed his eyes for the last time.

"Love you mom."

The Acropolis was silent, the only sounds were the sounds of a heartbroken mother, crying over the death of her son. A son too young to have given his life for the cruel world in which he lived.
