Chapter 1
Evie's head fell back against the pillow as Jayden continued to kiss along her neck, her eyes fluttering shut.
"You know I'm usually the bad influence" she murmurs, one of her hands tangled in his hair, the other running along his back. The plan had been for them both to train, but things had gotten heated, and this time she wasn't the one who'd instigated it.
"Mike and Emily are on a date, Mia and Kevin are training elsewhere, Ji went shopping and Antonio is fishing, couldn't have planned getting the house alone better, even if it had been deliberate" answers Jayden. "Though if you prefer, I could stop?" he offers with a smirk as his teeth scrapped across her neck sliding her bra strap off of her shoulder, his other hand running up her side in a featherlight caress.
"Definitely do not want you to stop" answers Evie as his kisses trail up to her jaw and along, his face hovering centimetres above hers and she found herself looking at the playful glint in his eye. Evie had always enjoyed the fact that the sort of sex they had depended entirely on their moods at the time.
"Good" smiles Jayden as he leans down and kisses her.
Evie returns it, her tongue tangling with his as he locked one of her legs around his hip, only their underwear separating them.
Jayden's hand slid up her stomach, when his samuraiser beeped.
"Oh come on" huffs Evie as she breaks the kiss.
Jayden groans and they both sit up Jayden grabbing his samuraiser and flipping it open.
"Hello" answers Jayden, his voice slightly rougher than usual, but he freezes, "we'll be right there" he says before hanging up.
"What?" asks Evie.
"Emily and Mike have found Sanzu river water, and lots of it" replies Jayden.
"Oh shit" swears Evie as they untangle themselves from each other and grab their clothes from where they'd been strewn around the room. Quickly re-dressing as they turn and run out of the house, arriving at the plaza a little while later and they see the other four crouched next to something.
They walk over, "how bad is it?" asks Jayden.
"See for yourself" sighs Kevin as Jayden and Evie walk over and crouch down next to the puddle.
"I was afraid this would happen" says Jayden.
Wordlessly Evie picks up a stick and dips the end into the puddle, as soon as it touches the water it bursts into flames and Evie lifts it up.
"Sanzu River water" confirms Jayden.
"That's not good" replies Kevin.
"Very, not good" agrees Jayden as they all stand up.
"We've seen the Netherworld break through like this before" points out Emily.
"I know, but this much water is really dangerous" replies Jayden.
"And with pools like these, the Nighlok can rehydrate, without even having to go back to the Sanzu River" adds Kevin.
"Guys, over here" calls Mia.
The five of them run over, Mike and Emily still holding their helmets.
"Oh shit" sighs Evie running her hand through her hair.
"Last time this happened. Mentor said this was a sign of the Nighlok growing stronger" recalls Kevin.
"Uh it gets worse" interjects Mia as she points to a path of footprints out of the water.
"Just great" sighs Mike.
They split into three groups to check around for any more signs of the Sanzu river, while Mike and Mia follow the footprints initially.
Once they've marked all the puddles, they regroup.
"These are definitely Nighlok footprints" confirms Mike as he looks at them.
"But no gap sensor went off" reminds Mia.
"I don't think it came through the gap recently. This Nighlok has been here awhile" replies Jayden.
"And using the pools of Sanzu Water to keep from drying out" realises Kevin.
"Then I guess we'd better start tracking him" replies Jayden.
"There's only one Nighlok who's arrived and likely not left. And he was no cake walk" reminds Evie.
"You think its Arachnitor?" asks Emily looking at her.
"It's the only logical assumption, the gap sensor has not gone off since Arachnitor. Which leads to the likely conclusion it is Arachnitor" confirms Evie.
"Great" sighs Emily rubbing her eyes.
"Lets find him then, before he can hurt anyone" decides Jayden.
They start following the footprints, though they soon dry up as they enter the forest.
"Now what?" asks Mia.
"I can track him, leave it to the forest samurai" assures Mike.
"You really think you can track him?" asks Kevin sceptically.
"Forest samurai, this is my turf" repeats Mike.
"We don't have any other ideas, I think Mike has this" says Evie.
Jayden nods, "lead the way" he agrees.
They follow Mike through the woods, stopping periodically for Mike to check he was still on the right trail.
A little while later Mike stops and kneels down.
"Did you lose the trail?" asks Jayden.
Mike doesn't respond for a moment before standing up, "this way" he says as he leads them down another path.
"Good job Mike" nods Jayden.
"Colour me impressed" smiles Evie.
"Yeah those footprints disappeared a while ago" agrees Kevin.
"Like I said, the forest is my turf. I can still track him" says Mike as they emerge out of the forest near one of the suburbs of the city.
The sound of screams causes them all to turn.
"Looks like we've definitely been on the right trail" notes Evie.
"And it seems we've found him" agrees Jayden as they all break into a run, morphing as they do so.
They race down the street and sure enough, its Arachnitor, or the mutated monster he'd become.
"Hold it right there, Nighlok" shouts Jayden.
"Great this creep again" says Mike.
"I really hate being right sometimes" sighs Evie.
"This time, we'll finish him off. For good" answers Jayden.
They six of them charge at Arachnitor attacking one after the other.
But he knocks each of them back, throwing Mike hard into one of the cars and Evie landing on top of him.
"Ow" groans Evie.
"I concur" grunts Mike as Jayden helps Evie up and then pulls Mike up as well.
"Damn that Nighlok is strong" says Emily.
"He mutated remember" reminds Kevin.
"He's out of control, and he needs to be stopped" nods Jayden.
"Yeah and what's worse is he isn't drying out" agrees Mia.
"He must be using a big pool of Sanzu river water" assumes Kevin.
"We need to find him before he hurts anyone else" says Emily, "but how do we track him?" she asks.
"Well we won't find him standing around here" replies Jayden as they take off running back to the house.
They arrive home and try to think of a way to track Arachnitor.
"There are many spots where the Sanzu River has seeped into our world" explains Ji as they all look at the map.
"It looks like Xandred plans on flooding the Earth" he adds.
"We'll have to work as a team, even harder" says Kevin.
"And if we know where he has to go to rehydrate, then we have the advantage" smiles Evie.
"The Nighlok have tried to ambush us before, but this time its our turn" nods Jayden. "We'll ambush him" smirks Jayden looking at the map.
"But how?" asks Emily.
"He'll need to rehydrate, so we'll catch him at his source" answers Jayden pointing to the points on the map.
"Who doesn't love a good ambush" smirks Evie.
"You're a little scary, you know that?" asks Mike looking at Evie.
"Oh I know" nods Evie chuckling.
"Is Antonio planning on joining us?" asks Kevin.
"He's working on the black box, with the river seeping through from the Netherworld. We'll need it. And he thinks he's close, now all the symbols are in, he just needs to merge them and activate it" replies Ji.
"I'm sure he will" agrees Mia.
"I think its time to set a trap then" says Jayden.
They head out to the biggest pool of Sanzu River water, it was an old construction sight.
"This must be the source" says Jayden.
"And when he shows up, he'll be in for a surprise" agrees Kevin as everyone gets into position.
None of them notice Octoroo sneaking around, nor do they realise that they're ones being ambushed, as he put up his special symbols to remove their abilities to morph.
Evie was sat having a thumb war with herself as she and Emily waited in their position.
"I cannot believe I'm actually hoping a Nighlok shows up" she mutters as Emily continues to make braids in her hair.
Emily's makes a noise of agreement then her eyes catch something on Evie's neck and she lifts her hair and her eyes widen.
"So what were you and Jayden doing when we called you?" asks Emily.
Evie freezes, in the rush she hadn't checked for any marks and brings her hand up to her neck.
"Not training I'm going to assume" chuckles Emily.
"We were, initially, then our activities may have ventured in a different direction" admits Evie.
"I think I can guess which one" says Emily shaking her head, "is that why you and Jayden didn't decide to team up for this?" asks Emily.
"No, we'd never take that risk on something like this" replies Evie, "doesn't mean I'm not thinking up ideas for when we're done though" she adds.
Emily giggles and shakes her head continuing to braid Evie's hair.
Jayden sighed as he leaned against the column, "where is this Nighlok?" asks Jayden.
"Could we be wrong?" asks Kevin.
"No the map identified this site" replies Jayden. "But that just means this general area. We saw this pool and assumed" he realises.
"Of course, this place is so big, there could be another pool" nods Kevin.
The two of them take off running, passing the symbols, as they reach another area Jayden grabs Kevin, "shh" he says as he pulls him back. They look over the edge and see Arachnitor in one of the pools.
"Call the others" orders Jayden.
Kevin does so and Emily and Evie take off running, meeting up with Mia and Mike on the way.
"You wanted excitement" says Mia.
"Not the excitement I had planned for the day" mutters Evie.
