'i cannot believe this, they send me here, just because I'm different to any of them, and their reasoning? Tch, exchange program, my ass, sending me here this boarding school, just to get me out of their fur, although, this is a nice place, I can tell why they said it's an elite school, but still, my first day here, and I'm lost, this map handed to me by the headmaster is useless, and asking another student wont be an option, I've hardly seen anyone these last few floors, hm? "Gardening Club"? Hm, maybe, if anyone is in there, I can get directions, or a guide to where I need to be'
he inhaled and sighed gently, gripping the strap of his canvas satchel he grabbed the handle of the door and pulled it open, sunlight streamed in, making him temporarily blinded as he pulled the rim of his black fedora over his eyes to shield them, regaining his sight, he looked through the door, he gazed in awe at the stone archway as he stepped in, looking around at the various flowers and plants in bloom here, however, he couldn't see anyone else, he frowned gently
'guess they're in class, or no one is here' he said as he approached one of the gardens, looking over the flowers, he stopped dead when we looked at the yellow tulips, he stared at them for a few seconds before he grinned, opened his satchel, pulled out a sketchpad, tin of sketch pencils and a small black case containing wireless earbuds, which he put into his ears and started up some music, he kneeled and started sketching the tulips, only focusing on them
'this is my weakness, whenever I see anything that is breathtaking, inspirational, or both, I have to stop and sketch, that's all that matters, anything else around me is background noise' he kept a laser focus on the tulips, glancing down at the sketchpad to make sure that the sketch matched the real thing.
"thank you for coming Louis" said a dwarf rabbit as she exited the club room
"it's fine Haru" Louis, the red dear replied "i enjoy checking up on you the beginning of the school year, hm?" he looked over at the stranger, the black fedora covering his head, he frowned and looked at Haru again "a friend of yours?" he asked
"never seen them before" Haru replied "but if I did, I'm sure I'd remember that hat they're wearing"
"true" Louis said as the two approached the stranger "excuse us" he said, but the stranger didn't respond, the scratching of the pencil was the only sound coming from them "hello? Can you hear me" Louis asked again with no reply, curious, Haru moved forward and peeked, her eyes widened a bit seeing what the stranger looked like, but she also noticed the earbuds in his ears, she looked back at Louis
"wireless earbuds, noise cancellers I'm guessing" she said as she glanced back at the sketchpad, seeing the shapes of the tulips coming to life on the paper,
"either way, I'd better go, I'll come by again soon" Louis said as he left, Haru watched him leave
"OK, bye" she said before looking back at the stranger, watching as his hand manipulated the pencil to draw the tulips and add shading where the shadows were, the hand became motionless suddenly
"you know, it's kinda rude to look over another person's shoulder like that" the stranger said, causing Haru to jump back slightly, he tapped his watch, stood up and removed the earbuds, putting them back into their case, Haru stared, this guy was as tall as Louis minus the antlers, the 2 of them locked eyes for a moment,
"i…..didn't notice you coming in" Haru said, looking up at him, wide eyed, the stranger stared back blankly,
"i wasn't sure if anyone was here, I didn't think to call out" the stranger said, squatting down so he can look her in the eye,
'i don't want to stand over her, I don't want her to get neck pains from looking up at me'
"it's OK" Haru said, glancing around the garden "hardly anyone comes around here, due to the rumours" the stranger frowned
'rumours?'
"what rumours?" he asked, Haru stared
"you don't know?" she asked, he shook his head, looking more confused "I'm guessing your a freshman, but you look older than one"
"that's right, I'm 17, I was transferred in recently due to BS reasons" he said, sounding bitter "anyway, I don't believe in rumours, last time I believed in one, I nearly fell down a mine-shaft"
"well" Haru started, unsure what to think "the rumour about me is kinda true, but it's OK if you wish to ignore it"
'a rumour about this little rabbit being true, I'm kinda curious now, but I won't ask her straight up, besides, I don't even know her name'
"well, I'll keep that in mind" he said "thanks for telling me, miss….?"
"oh right, my name is Haru" she said "nice to meet you, what's your name?"
"JC" he replied with a small smile before holding out the sketch book to show her the picture of the tulips, he eyes widened as she stared "with a bit if colour, you might believe that they're popping out of the paper" he said as she looked back at him,
"you have a real talent JC" Haru said with a smile which he returned, his eyes widened
"oh right, need to be somewhere" he said, standing, Haru grabbed a notepad that JC dropped, along with a pencil, then wrote down directions,
"your heading to this place, right?" she asked, as she showed him what she had written, his eyes widened a bit,
"yeah, how'd you guess?" JC asked,
"it's where all the students your age are, I'm guessing that they put you in there because of your age and academic level when you arrived"
"that's right, thanks Haru" he said, standing and heading out, he paused at the door and looked back "you don't mind if I come here often, I enjoy the quiet this place has and the flowers here give me a reason to sketch them"
"i don't mind" Haru said with a cute smile, JC returned the smile and left, knowing that his life in Cherryton Academy was going to be interesting at the least.
