Hello again, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to A promise kept Ash's Johto journey. As I said before, I am rewriting the older script-like chapters from the first four chapters of this story. After that, we can continue this story onwards. With that said, let us begin a promise that Ash should've made.
Chapter 1: A promise Kept the battle for a returning friend.
' For Pokespeech
" For human speech
We joined our heroes as they headed straight to the forest between Pallet Town and Viridian City. So that Ash can retrieve the Pokemon that he promised that he would return for after his adventures in the Orange Islands.
"Ash, are you sure that it's safe to return to this area, especially with your history with the Spearow flock and its leader?" Misty asked, concerned that something terrible would happen. Ash nodded in understanding. "I understand, Misty, but I can't break any of my promises, and since we're heading that way to Johto. We might as well pick her up."
The group arrived in the forest where Ash last saw his Pokemon as Ash saw a much bigger flock of Pidgey and Pidgeotto. "Wow, the flock has expanded the last time I saw them in almost a year since I left for the Orange Islands," Ash said as he was looking for a particular pokemon. A big bird pokemon saw the group and flew down towards them, "Ah Pidgeot, glad to see you again. I'm back as promised." Ash said to his once teammate. She nods though she still seems troubled about the Fearow flock.
"I know, girl. I'm worried about them as well. Maybe we can come to a compromise or somedeal. To end this whole thing, I admit that most of this was my fault that I threw a rock at the leader and all but even as an inexperienced trainer, we all make mistakes," Ash says to which Pidgeot nods at this. Little did they know that a member of the Pidgeotto flock was listening to the entire thing and flew off. He was a spy of the Spearow flock. It flew off, which Pikachu noticed. 'Say, Pidgeot, is it alright for that member of your flock leaving for somewhere? Given what is going on between your flocks?' Pikachu asked, which Pidgeot noticed this as well, 'I know him. He used to be the son of the original flock leader. A family friend of mine, but he's been distant and not happy that I've taken over the flock which his father let me run after seeing what had happened." Pidgeot explained that Pikachu had a suspicious look at the Pidgeotto flying off.
Meanwhile, back at the Fearow flock as the young Pidgeotto reported everything to the flock leader. 'So the new leader's trainer has returned as promised, huh?' Fearow asked. Which the Pidgeotto nods, 'Yes, and her trainer wants to challenge you to a battle for the flock's safety,' which made raised the Fearow's eyes hearing this. 'What is that human up to? Is he still wanting to catch me, or is he want to end this?' Fearow says to himself to the Pidgeotto, 'Why trust what that human says? Your past with him tells you that he's planning on doing something?' The Pidgeotto says, trying to manipulate the Fearow to get his way stroking his hatred towards Ash though it has subsided after his first loss against Pidgeot. 'I don't know, Pidgeotto. I know that you want your flock back, but I don't think that he will cause harm?' Fearow questioned. Pidgeotto, who was shocked by this 'Come on Fearow? I want to help my flock, and don't you want closure?'Pidgeotto suggested and asked. 'Okay, Pidgeotto, but I want to find a good way that can make peace.'
'As he turns to his flock, 'I'm heading to Pidgeot's flock and dealing with the human that has tormented me till this date. I don't want the flock to intervene in this, no matter how bad the situation is.' As the flock was interested in what he says,' Even if I lose, I will hear his offer and agreement to terms. If it sounds reasonable, I'll accept it. If it doesn't, then the deal is not done.' As he readies himself to fly off, 'Now let's move!' he says as the flock flew off. The Pidgeottto shook his head. 'Stubborn old fool, I want to return what's mine the flock itself and lead it as what my father had done,' Pidgeotto says. 'Doesn't he know that humans are all the same, only wanting Pokemon and not caring about their Pokemon's family or what they have done or what they want in life alone from the human world?' Pidgeotto takes off.
Ash noticed that something was coming their way. "Well, I guess here comes Fearow," Ash says, seeing that he wasn't there to cause harm but interested in a deal of sorts. As the rest of the flock was in the trees nearby as well as the Pidgeotto which Pidgeot noticed, 'Figured that he was with you Fearow,' Pidgeot says to Fearow, acknowledging the young Pidgeotto. Fearow nods, 'Relax, Pidgeot, I'm not here for trouble, only to talk and maybe a peace agreement depending on what your trainer here has to offer?' Fearow says in a more reassuring tone. Pidgeot nods to this.
While not understanding Pokespeak, Ash got the gist of what is said. "Look, Fearow, I don't want trouble, nor do I want this to go on any longer. Please leave me, and this flock alone mistakes happen between you and me was an accident. Don't bring others into this. We can battle without cause for harm." Ash says, showing a calmer tone in his words, making sure that he isn't telling the wrong thing. 'Go on. I'm listening' Fearow says he can tell that Ash is trying to make peace.
"If I win, you leave the heard alone, and we forgive and forget what happened back on my first day as a trainer," Ash explained this was a fair thing to ask, 'And if you lose?' Fearow asked to which Ash can tell he asked him that. "I'm willing to give up my trainer's license in return, but please leave them alone they did nothing to your flock other than they are in the same forest," Ash offers and pleads to Fearow. Fearow thinks, 'I never thought a human would go this far to help a Pokemon. Nor is willing to risk his trainer license for something like this.' He looked at Ash, who looked like he was serious about what he had said. 'To be frank, I instead just let him not bother me again or just an apology, but he gave a good point at this.'
He looked at Pidgeot. 'You sure that you're willing to risk your trainer's career? I mean, he was originally after you that day, not me?' Fearow asked her. Pidgeot nods, 'I am with Ash's decision. Yes, I was the young Pidgey that he tried to catch that day, but I can tell he's learned from his mistakes,' Pidgeot says as her flock was standing in the trees behind her decision. 'Well, if you say so,' He turns to Ash and nods.
"Ash, are you sure this isn't usually what trainers are doing to solve an issue like this." Misty says, "I understand, Misty, but this is my problem, my mistake that I have to resolve here and now," Ash says to Misty and Brock. "Ash, be careful. Okay, you haven't used Pidgeot since she evolved," Misty explains with concern. "I will, Misty," As Ash turned to Fearow as Pidgeot stood in front of Ash. "Okay, Fearow, we're ready to fight," Ash says to Fearow, who nods at this.
The three of them got into battle position as Fearow took off to the sky, same with Pidgeot. "You can go first, Fearow," Ash says, showing sportsmanship. Fearow shook his head 'Ladies first this time,' Fearow suggested, pointed his wing at Pidgeot. Ash and Pidgeot nod. "Okay, use Wing attack," Ash commands Pidgeot as her wings glowed. Pidgeot managed to hit Fearow, who recovered and used Drill peck. "Dodge with agility," Ash commands as Pidgeot barely dodged as fast as she line is known, for she wasn't there yet. Pidgeot's wing got clipped by the Drill peck as Fearow used wing attack during this motion. He sent Pidgeot crashing down as she recovered and charged with a Quick attack. Hitting Fearow hard. 'Not bad, I thought you'd given up after that his,' Fearow said. His beak powered up some energy which Ash and Pidgeot noticed as he fired a hyper beam. "Dodge it with Quick Attack," Ash commands. Pidgeot managed to do so as her wing glowed steel-like and rushed towards Fearow. The move slammed into Fearow hard. Sending him to the ground, Ash was curious about that move as he never saw it before.
Fearow was struggling to get up, impressed by this, "Do you want to stop? I mean, it's not worth getting hurt more Fearow," Ash says, showing concern. Fearow nod 'Yeah, not worth a damaged wing or worse' Fearow says 'Don't give up you can win Fearow come on your just giving up like that?' Pidgeotto says. 'No, you don't get it do you, Pidgeotto. She won fair and square,' Fearow answered, not happy what Pidgeotto just said. 'No, you're wrong. She used a move that isn't known here, and' Fearow interrupted him, 'Does it matter what happened there? She won through skill and understanding when someone is hurt physically than continue to victory.' Fearow growled at the young Pidgeotto. 'You got to be kidding me your no leader' He was interrupted by Fearow, who was powering up a Hyper beam at him as Pidgeotto flew off. 'I'll be back you haven't seen the last of me,' Pidgeotto says, flying as if his life depended on it.
"Fearow," Ash said to him. "Look about when I started that day. I'm sorry for everything. At the same time, it did help my relationship with Pikachu and all. It doesn't excuse my actions that day." Ash continued as Fearow was listening, even showing that he understands what Ash is saying is sincere. "I, I still have a long ways to go as a trainer. But I know that I made stupid mistakes, especially ones that may hurt others. Please accept my apology for what happened between us, and maybe we can start fresh. What do you say, Fearow?" Ash asked the Fearow, who made a long thought and nodded at this. 'Maybe after my Journey with Ash is over, Fearow, we can fix the problems with our flocks. This area isn't a good place for them to live at,' Pidgeot says to Fearow. 'Yeah, it isn't, especially if we get another incident like this again. I'll look after the flock for you, Pidgeot. I promise you that no harm will befall them during this,' Fearow can see his flock was willing for a change. Some of the Pidgeot's flock was adamant at first but agreed if it means peace. 'Deal if something does happen, one of my scouts is available. I am familiar with the region my trainer is going to,' Pidgeot explained to Fearow, who nods. 'You mean the region your father is from, and he too was a respectable Pidgeot. I'll leave it at that, for now, get going,' Fearow says as Pidgeot nods and turns to Ash and nods, 'I'm ready to rejoin the team."
Ash nodded and pulled out her Pokeball. "Welcome back to the team Pidgeot, and I'm always happy to have you back." Ash returned her to her ball. As it made a recapture ding signifying that a Pokemon has returned to its trainer if released or abandoned.
With a promise to return and the flock settled, Ash and his friends can head to Johto as the Journey continues.
Stay Tuned
Done, this took longer than I'd thought. Yes, I got rid of the awkward hug in the previous version. The heart was in the right place there, but man, was it cringy. The first episode of the Johto journeys begins next chapter. See you all then.
