Dormant
The morning is cool and damp, with the first light coming into view, the silver haired half-demon opened his golden eyes. Sitting with his legs crossed, propped up against a tree and Tetsusaiga tucked in his folded arms. The air is heavy and oppressive, he looked up to see a massive group of birds flying overhead. 'Well that's creepy' He thought, narrowing his eyes at them. Shortly after the rest of the group starts to come to life, and becomes aware of the ominos presents.
"Does anyone else feel that demonic aura?" Miroku inquires with the rest of the group. Kagome nodded her head, "Yeah it's strange. It's like it's growing," Kagome. "I guess you want to go check it out," growels irritated, already knowing what the answer would be.
"Of course," Miroku responded cheerfully.
"What's the matter? InuYasha are scared?" Shoppio says jumping up on InuYasha's shoulder. "No, I just have my priorities straight. We need to track down Narku." InuYasha insists.
"It could have something to do with Narku." Kagome retorts
The group sets off north heading toward the mountains and in the direction of the strange aura. "What do you think it could be?" Sango asks.
"I don't know but it just keeps getting stronger,," Miroku answers, as he contemplates what might be producing strange emanation. "Do you think it might be Narku?" Shippo chimes. A group of men approach them on horseback. The man leading the pack calls out to them, "You there Monk!"
As they get closer it becomes clear the men are Monks themselves. They hult before Miroku and the others.
"We are in need of your assistance," I leader commands in a stern tone. "My name is Yoshito, myself and the others are from a village to the north where the demon has been sealed away. We are trying to gather as many monks as possible to finally eradicate her," He explains to the group. "Well we are heading in that direction," Miroku says as he looks at the others for confirmation. Sango and Kagome nod in agreement.
The group goes along following the hoard of monks. The path to the village wound up and around a mountain. As they climb up the mountain side they enter a thick fog. 'The air is worse here' InuYasha though. It made him feel restless, and he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being followed. He slowed down and lost peace with the others, lost in thought. Trying to figure out what else is hiding in the fog. He came to the complete hult and turned to see a woman's silhouette in the fog. He and the figure stood staring at each other, "InuYasha," He heard Kagome call to him, making ears twitch. "What's the matter?" she asked, stopping and waiting for him to catch up.
"These woods are hunted," Yoshito states. "Or at least that's what the villagers say," the skepticism dripped from his lips. One of the men in the back of the pack looks back to examine Inuyasha and the others. "They say that when Yashito sealed Katsumi away, her spirit left her body and roamed around these woods. That the night she was sealed her away is the same night she fog rolled in and has not faded since," They monks explained. His eyes wide with excitement. He was younger than the other monks in their party. 'The poor fool must never have faced domens in his life' Inuyasha though watching young monk.
About half the day passed by the time they reached the top of the mountain. As they make their descent over the other side, Miroku starts to ask the young monk questions about the demon in the village.
"Her name is Katsumi?" Miroku asks
"Yes, she was very powerful and had a few follower; demons that terrorized villages in her name. They would consume human flesh. She took two of them in and made them more powerful. Yoshito said that they were something worse than demons, they were grotesque monsters. One she created a child -"
"You mean she had a kid." InuYasha interrupts snidely. 'This kid doesn't have a clue about anything does he?'
The monk looks back at InuYasha with worry written on his face. "No... not like that. She made the child through some sort of sorcery and she also took one as her lover." He explains.
The monk goes on more about Katsumi and her minions, as they get farther down the mountain the village starts to come into view. 'What the hell is going on here?' InuYasha notices that there's a large walled off area next to the village, it's empty other than a small building in the middle. From this distance he can't make out what it is.
"This place is kinda creepy," Kagome says, leaning toward in a hushed voice.
"They're gloomy looking people but they sure don't have a problem staring at us. '' InuYasha thought, exchanging looks for a spiteful glare.
At the center of the village the monks have gathered and Yoshito makes his way through the crowd. The other monks all make way for him, bowing in respect as he passes. "Looks like someone's a big shot," InuYasha remarks. "Inuyasha," Kagome snaps. InuYasha shrugs off the scolding.
When Yoshito reaches the other side of the sea of monks he addresses the crowd. "While we wait for the rest of our host to arrive we will see Katsumi and I will go over the plan to eradicate her,"
InuYasha and the others follow the growing gaggle of monks as they head toward the great stone structure, with the large wooden double doors.
