And the Halloween Special begins. I have planned only five chapters.
The other story will continue after that.
Thanks again to KG for the idea and the characters.
Until then
Mystic Willows. A place that thrives on magic and sorcery. From the motley meadows to the crystals, everything glows in the brightest colors. In a small village that lay in the center of Mystic Willows live many wizards and witches. They are all good wizards and witches and use their magic only for good. However peaceful the place was, there were three witches who used their magic for evil. It was the Batderson sisters: Bellatrix, Vila and Jinx. Three dangerous and powerful witches who used their magic to suck the souls out of innocent children so that they could live longer for a certain time and look young again.
Of course, the High Council of Wizards and Magicians banned the three sisters, but that did not stop them from continuing to lure innocent children. Until a powerful witch cast a curse that imprisoned the Batderson sisters in their house located in the deep crystal forest. The only way to break the curse was if the same witch of the same blood fired a powerful spell at the curse.
And this witch belonged to the Opalite family. One of the most powerful wizard families in Mystic Willows. But the events had been forgotten for years and every child had already been told this story. Whether as a normal story or as a bedtime story. Gemma already knew it inside out. She was the granddaughter of the witch who had cast the curse. But she was not as good as her grandmother or her mother. All her spells did not work or always failed. No matter how many times she tried. All the other children always made fun of her because she couldn't cast even simple spells.
And that she was a cat didn't make it any better. Cats are considered the most powerful wizards and witches in Mystic Willows, followed by ravens and bats. Gemma was just like all the other residents in Mystic Willows an anthropomorphic kitten covered in white fur. She has a tuft of hair with a purple streak on her forehead and violet eyes. She has a small pink nose, long bushy tail and pale pink inner ears. Like all young witches she wears a lilac dress, long bell-shaped sleeves over pink and a blue sash tied around her waist like a belt with a crescent moon brooch, star shaped clasp. A traditional witch hat is on top of her head which is purple in colour with a long violet pink ribbon sash tied around the brim with a star and crescent moon brooch and a midnight blue cloak with prints of silver stars.
As a tradition in her family, on her tenth birthday Gemma received her own magic wand that her mother had carved from a mystical tree that grows around her village, her own broom and her own spell book. Since then she practiced diligently and hoped very much that she would make her mother proud when she finally mastered a spell. But luck was never on her side until now, which is why she mostly retreated near the crystal tree forests to practice there in peace.
Like every day, she did it today on All Hallows Eve or also called Halloween. "All right Gemma, you can do it, today the magic is the strongest, so you have to do it!" she said as she walked over to the tree stump where she placed her spell book. She took her broom and leaned it next to the tree stump as she took out her wand and opened the book with it. "All right, I've got the levitation spell down so far," she said as she used magic to levitate a crystallized rock lying next to her.
But she lowered him back down to the floor. The floor vibrated a bit, but Gemma didn't mind. She continued to flip through the book until she came across a fireball spell that she had wanted to try for a long time, but had never really worked out. Maybe today. She didn't want to give up and show her mother how good she was at magic. "Alright concentration" she closed her eyes and took a deep breath in and out before opening her eyes again and looking at the spell that was in the book next to the illustration.
"Flammae ab intus" Gemma said, but her wand did not light up. Not even a little spark could be seen. "Flammae ab intus"
"Flammae ab intus"
"Flammae ab intus!"
But nothing happened no matter how many times she cast the spell. Angry about this, she threw her wand on the ground and knelt down next to the tree stump. "Why doesn't it work for me!" she said as tears slowly came from her eyes which she wiped away. She didn't want to give up so quickly. All right. She stood up and took the wand in her hand and tried again. "Flammae ab intus!". This time it worked, and out of her wand came a small red burning ball of fire that flew against the rock she had first levitated.
"Yes finally!" said Gemma as she jumped up and down with joy. "I've finally mastered the spell and now no one will make fun of Gemma-" before she spoke further her wand fired a large fireball without her wanting it in the depths of the crystal forest. Oh no! An explosion could be heard as Gemma followed the smoke. The smoke led her deep into the crystal forest where she found an old wooden hut covered in moss and spider webs, with smoke coming from the chimney. She was about to run towards the hut when her conscience stopped her and she hid behind a purple crystal tree instead as the squeaky old front door of the hut opened.
"What was that explosion?" asked a raspy voice. Gemma looked out from the tree and saw an anthropomorphic vampire bat with slender build and covered in grey fur. Her nose is dark purple while her wing membranes are dark purple-black. She has green eyes and long, slightly wavy auburn hair that falls to her mid back. She wears a richly-embroidered velvet robe over a green and purple dress, striped green leggings while her clawed feet are bared and a dark green hooded cloak.
She went outside and looked around while two more voices sounded from inside. "Wait Bella I'm coming!" said another anthropomorphic vampire bat with a slender and curvaceous build and covered in light greyish purple fur with violet pink inner ears and her wing membranes are a dark violet purple. She has a pink nose, purple eyes and a long wavy blonde hair that reaches down to her mid-back. She wears a pinkish purple blouse with a purple bodice that has a flowery embroidery and dark purple skirt with a high slit in the left side. She wears black and purple stripes leggings, leaving her clawed feet bared and a dark purple hooded cloak.
She ran downstairs to the first one who only groaned annoyed while the last voice spoke up and appeared. Like the other two, this one was also an anthropomorphic vampire bat with a plump physique and covered in blue-grey fur. Her eyes are dark grey. She has a black nose, dark blue inner ears and her wing membranes are dark turquoise. Her hair is black and is twisted up in a distinctive style like a witch's hat. She wears a red vest over an orange shirt, reddish-purple plaid skirt and a red hooded cloak.
She tried to follow the others until she got her body stuck in the door. "Um Bella, Jinx I need your help" she said as the other two turned around annoyed. "Always the same with you Vila" said one as she pulled on the left arm "You really should eat less" said the other who pulled with all her strength on the right arm. "I'm sorry Bella and Jinx but if you eat so little I can't help it!" she said as all three rolled out the door down the stairs.
Gemma continued to watch the whole thing. "How many times do I have to tell you, Vila, to call me by my full name!" one of them yelled. "Sorry Bellatrix" Wait those names sound familiar. Gemma mused. Yes, she knew the names and suspected something bad. Something very bad. "Why are we out here again, anyway?" asked Jinx as Bellatrix and Vila looked at her with a "you're not serious now" look. She still didn't get it and got hit on the head by Bellatrix. "Ouch Bella that hurts!" said Jinx as she rubbed the spot where Bellatrix had hit her. Vila just rolled her eyes and whispered it to her younger sister. She understood and nodded while Bellatrix just rolled her eyes.
But what Vila noticed was that Bellatrix's foot was on the line the three sisters had drawn to find out how far the curse went in which they had been trapped many years ago. Normally, Bellatrix would get a shock if she even approached the line. "Um Bella..." the oldest sister turned to Vila and Jinx as they both looked at her, startled. From the two faces, the eldest was more or less not thrilled but rather annoyed. "What's wrong?!" she yelled at her two sisters, who backed away a bit. "Um y-you're standing..." Bellatrix looked down and saw the line she was standing on.
Damn! Gemma already guessed where her fireball spell went and what caused the explosion. "Am I seeing right sisters. Has the curse broken or is this just a dream?". Before anyone could say anything, Jinx pinched Bellatrix's left arm. "Ouch what are you doing?!" she asked as she jumped behind the line. "Hooray it's not a dream!" said Jinx as she spun in a circle. "So we're free of the curse?" asked Vila.
She slowly crossed the line while Jinx jumped over it without hesitation and danced in a circle. "We are free, we are free, we are-" before she continued, Bellatrix thundered a fist into her stomach. "Do you want anyone to hear us damn it!". Jinx shook her head in pain as she slowly stood up. "Sorry Bella" said Jinx as she apologized for her sudden behavior. "But who could have broken the curse Bella?" asked Vila as she looked around and sniffed something with her nose. Bellatrix and Jinx looked to her.
Gemma already suspected that the three witches were not normal witches but the three sisters who were locked up in this house by their grandmother. She also knew that the curse could only be broken by a witch of the same blood. "Oh no what have I done" Gemma said quietly as she tried to run away unnoticed. But Vila had tracked her down. "What do you smell sister?" asked Bellatrix as she approached her. Vila grinned with her pointed teeth and slowly turned to face her two sisters. "I smell a child!".
Hearing this, the three sisters cackled and spread their wings. "Let's go, sisters, let's get the child!" said Bellatrix as she flew into the air first, followed by Vila and finally Jinx. Gemma teleported to her things in time before packing everything up and getting on her broom to fly away. But the three sisters were faster and Bellatrix caught her in flight while holding her in her claws with her broom. "Who do we have here?". Jinx approached Gemma and was shocked "It's an Opalite!". When the others heard this, they had to grin. "Oho an Opalite has freed us" said Bellatrix as she slowly landed holding Gemma by the collar in her hand. "We should devour her soul immediately Bellatrix before-" with a raised hand Bellatrix interrupted Vila. "We will sister but first..." everyone looked at the small village that was not far away.
Gemma suspected something bad. "No, please don't do that!" she begs the three sisters. But Bellatrix dropped her to the ground while the three flew toward the village. Thanks to her teleportation, Gemma got to the village sooner and immediately ran into the house to warn her mother. "Mom, the Batderson sisters are free!" she screamed as her mother Selena Opalite came out of the kitchen.
She is an elegantly slender anthropomorphic cat covered in white fur with pale pink inner ears, a small pink nose and violet eyes. She has a long bushy tail and flowing long white hair that reashes down her waist with two streaks in her bangs. She wears a crystal blue gown with long bell shaped sleeves that reaches to her elbows to reveal lilac handless midnight blue ribbon-like sash with an opal buckle and a gold six-pointed necklace. Like Gemma she wears a midnight blue cloak that has imprints of silver stars and moons. Her witch's hat is midnight blue with a flowing lilac sash with a gold crescent moon brooch.
"What did you say Gemma?" she asked as she holds in her hands a bowl full of candy that she dropped in shock. Gemma cried "I didn't mean to set them free mom, my wand unintentionally fired a fireball spell at the curse that set the sisters free" she said through her tears while Selena calmed her down and bent down to hug her daughter. "It's okay my Gem". Slowly she ran over her fur and soothed her. Gemma wiped away her tears as she looked at her mother. "But don't you have to tell the mayor?" she asked. Selena nodded and walked out of the house with her. Her broom was outside right next to Gemma's. "Stay close to me Gemma and no matter what you do don't follow the voice of a beautiful woman!" Gemma nodded as she and her mother got on the broom and flew off.
Both made their way to the house of the mayor and the High Council of Wizards and Witches. The arrival of the three sisters was already spread everywhere. Many families went to the school building and brought their children there to protect them from the three sisters. Only Gemma stayed with her mother. "Selena!" shouted the mayor as he saw them both flying in the air and waved to them. "Mayor, it looks like the news has already been spread?" asked Selena as she landed. Gemma landed as well and saw all her classmates being brought into the school building.
"What is your daughter doing here?" asked the mayor as Gemma turned and saw a staff in front of her eyes. The mayor was a human with short black hair who wore a red cloak with several triskels and other patterns on it. His eyes were gray and he had a scar on his nose. "Take her to the school building with the others immediately!" he ordered Selena. "No, I'm staying with my mother!" Gemma sat down again, startling not only the mayor but her mother as well. "Gemma you're not mature enough to fight the-" a cackling laugh interrupted the two as they looked above them at the square where they were standing the three sisters.
The mayor nodded to another wizard who stood behind the sisters and went to a machine that opened a portal leading to the dark dimension. A dark, cold place. Vila noticed it and screamed at the human with her sonic scream. He fell down and the portal closed. "Nice try mayor" said Bellatrix as she looked from the man lying on the ground to the mayor. She saw Gemma and Selina. "Oh how nice to see our liberator standing right next to our enemy!" growled Bellatrix as she approached the two. But the rest of the witches and wizards fired at the three sisters.
But the spells did nothing. Instead, the three sisters fired a Seafoam-like spell at the witches and wizards who slowly turned into crystal statues. Almost everyone was hit by it including the mayor and council members. Only Selena and Gemma remained. "It looks like the Batderson will have to face the Opalites again," Bellatrix said as she approached Selena and prepared a spell. But before she could fire it, Selena fired a powerful spell at her and her sisters. "You should never underestimate the Opalites my dear" Selena said as she lifted Vila up with a levitation spell and dropped her onto Jinx. "Damn it Vila get off me!" said Jinx as she tried to free herself.
But Bellatrix still had an ace up her sleeve. "Oh, yes, that's why I only attack those who are weak!" as she said this, she fired the crystal spell at Gemma. But before it could reach her, Selena pushed her daughter away and the spell hit her. "Mom!" Gemma screamed as she walked over to her. The spell worked and Selena's feet were crystallized. The Batderson sisters approached the two as the portal opened to reveal several islands that looked painted. Vila's nose twitched "Bella I smell children" Bellatrix turned around annoyed. "Ehh, what dost thou call that?"
Bellatrix asked as she looked at Gemma. "A child?" asked Vila as Bellatrix pulled her ear annoyed until she saw the portal herself. "I guess we could run amok somewhere else sisters" when Jinx heard that she jumped up and down like a bouncy ball and keeps saying "Amok, amok, amok!" until Bellatrix hit her in the chest with her elbow to calm her down.
Cackling laughter interrupted Gemma's thoughts as she watched the three sisters disappear through the portal. "No!" she cried, but it was already too late. They were already gone, leaving Gemma alone with her mother who was slowly beginning to crystallize. "Gemma listen to me carefully" said her mother as she reached for her daughter. "You must stop the three sisters before they get even one child's soul in their clutches!" Gemma just shook her head as tears fell from her eyes. "No, I'll stay with you and look for a counter spell" but her mother whispered something in her ear. "When the three sisters are defeated, their magic also disappears" Before Gemma could react, her mother hurled her through the portal with a levitation spell before she was completely crystallized.
The portal closed and Mystic Willow was occupied only by crystal statues while the children remained in the school building and knew nothing of all this.
Meanwhile on Inkwell Isle's residents were getting everything ready for Halloween. The town lit up with jack-o'-lanterns, decorations, and anything else reminiscent of Halloween. The children and adults were dressed differently and were very happy. Even in the depths of the forest it shone brightly as one saw in the distance a house that looked like a porcelain teapot with two windows that were next to a wooden door over which hung a horseshoe. A thatched roof from which a chimney looked out of which smoke came. Under the windows were still flower boxes. In the left flower box were three flowers sleeping peacefully, not seeing the finished carved pumpkins that were scattered around the house.
Strictly speaking, it was not a house but a cottage. The front door opened and a anthropomorphic greyish-looking coffee pot with a light fawn lid and stripe on the bottom of his body and a long spout above his metal mustache that has a small chip to the side. He wears yellow gloves, a small pair of glasses on his spout and a pair of red slippers. It is Elder Kettle the owner of the house and the godfather of Cuphead and Mugman. "Ah Halloween how I missed you with your scary characters, candy and jack-o-lanterns". In his right hand he held another pumpkin which he placed with the others before opening it and placing a lit candle inside so that the pumpkin glowed like the others.
With the pumpkin out, he went back inside and looked around. In the living room sat Mugman who was working on his horse costume. He is a Mug-Headed Humanoid wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, yellow gloves, blue shorts and orange shoes. He has a short blue striped straw and a big blue nose. His eyes are smaller and his head is slightly thinner with a beige skin color. Thin eyebrows are above his eyes.
Engrossed in his work, Elder Kettle looked in the kitchen where two others were sitting. It was Alicia and Cuppy both in their finished costumes. Alicia was dressed as the female form of Eivor while Cuppy had on a raven costume. Running down the stairs was Cuphead who immediately ran into the kitchen dressed as a scarecrow. But you could tell the difference between him and Cuppy. Both a Cup-Headed Humanoid wearing black, long-sleeve shirts, red shorts and brown shoes. But there were differences in appearance.
While Cuppy wore white gloves and his skin color was light gray. Cuphead, however, wore yellow gloves and his skin color was beige like Mugman. However, both had the same little red nose on their faces and a curved red and white striped straw peeking out of their heads filled with a mysterious white liquid like Mugman's head.
He sat down with the two who were talking. "And you're sure you want to go out even if the devil is after you?" Cuppy asked Alicia as she looked at him in confusion. She looked completely different in her disguise. "The devil won't recognize me Cuppy and with you as my faithful raven Sýnin he won't dare to kidnap me" that didn't make the mood for Cuppy any better. "Yeah look on the bright side buzz kill" Cuphead said as he sat down with them and opened a can of soda that had Inkwell soda on it with a purple background.
Cuppy just gave his likeness an annoyed expression while turning to Alicia. Another character also entered the was an anthropomorphic wolf with black fur, gray fur that went from his chest to the bottom tip of his tail. The rest was covered by his armor and the cloak he wore. Only his legs, arms, toes and hands were not covered. His two middle fingers were white, his ring fingers were gray and his thumbs, index fingers and little fingers were black. The same arrangement applied to his toes. The head was black except for the cheek. The cheeks and the lower side of the muzzle were white. A curved gray stripe separated the black fur from the black nose. The inner ears were gray. He had a red cut scar on both elbows as well as a skin color scar on his left ear that stretched from the front to the back. On his right eye he had three red claw scars. His eyes were unnaturally black with a red iris and a snake-like slit pupil.
From his knees down to his toes, he had several black bandages tied shut with a gold button and wrapped around his lower legs. His pelvis and most of his upper legs were covered and protected by a plate armor that was black and had a golden edge with several golden rivets that were additionally worked into the armor. He also wore the armor around his two forearms which were attached with brown hinges. A brown leather belt was connected to the lower armor and to the upper body. Two leather hinges that went crosswise were connected to the rest that disappeared under the brown fur-trimmed cloak. The inside of the cloak was black. Behind his back and hidden by his cloak, a large long wand peeked out, ending in a blue crystal.
It was Blood a wizard from another world just like Alicia and Cuppy. "Well look who's coming our wizard wolf" said Alicia when she saw him. Cuphead and Cuppy turned to the wolf who was looking for something in a cupboard above the sink. "I guess you haven't lost your sense of humor Alice" said Blood as he held several candies and chocolates in his hands. "Why the candy?" asked Cuppy. "I need these for someone very special" he said as he left the kitchen. Alicia already suspected for whom. "Let me guess, the person starts with a B and ends with an N". Blood stopped short before he could open the front door to turn around. "Maybe?" he said as he blushed with nervousness and walked out the door.
The three had to pull themselves together not to giggle. Only Mugman was confused when he finished his costume. "Did I miss something?" he asked as he walked over to Alicia, Cuppy and Cuphead. Both Cupheads couldn't hold back their laughter and fell on the floor laughing. This confused Mugman even more. Oh man, how are we going to explain it to him without making him even more confused than before? Alicia asked herself as Mugman looked at her with big googly eyes. She opened her mouth when suddenly she heard a scream followed by a loud bang coming from the shed behind the cottage.
All four looked out the kitchen window and saw that there was a big hole in the roof of the shed. All four approached the shed. With the exception of Alicia and Cuppy, the others each held a shovel and a pitchfork in their hands as they slowly stood in front of the door, ready to open it. Alicia reached for the doorknob and felt that something was behind the door. It was not an imp or anything like that. She would sense that thanks to her demon powers. It was... "A cat with a witch hat?". Cuppy, Cuphead and Mugman peeked out from behind Alicia's legs as she said this.
"What's a cat doing here?" asked Cuphead as he approached her. The cat backed away as he approached her and drew her wand. "Not another step or I'll..." from the tip of the wand came a small spark that landed on Cuphead's palm and immediately went out. "Is that the best you can do?" he asked as the cat began to cry. "Great job Cuphead!" said Alicia annoyed as she gave him an angry look and went to the cat to calm it down. Mugman and Cuppy also gave him a angry look before going to the cat as well. "Hey, it's all right," Alicia said as she took the cat in her arms and stroked its cheek to reassure it. The cat held her arm and sobbed. "It's all my fault!" the cat said as she continued to hold onto Alicia.
Now the four were confused. "What do you mean it's all your fault?" asked Alicia as she wiped the tears away from the cat. "I freed the three Batderson sisters and now they are here to eat children's souls to live forever and be young" Batderson almost sounds like Sanderson. "I'm not a real Opalite!" said the cat as she hides her head in Alicia's arm. Alicia didn't know what to say. "First, we should introduce ourselves," Mugman suggested. Alicia and the others nodded. "I'm Mugman!" he said, holding out his hand. The cat wasn't sure but she shook his hand "My name is Gemma" she said. "I'm Alicia" said Alicia as Gemma looked up at her.
"And this is Cuppy and Cuphead" said Alicia as she pointed to the two cups. They both waved at Gemma. "And where exactly am I here?" asked Gemma as she looked around. "You're on Inkwell Isle's!". Gemma knew that she was no longer in her home country. Bellatrix, Vila and Jinx also knew that, looking down on Inkwell City from a large tree. "I smell a big feast Bella" said Vila whose branch slowly began to crack. Bellatrix and Jinx had no trouble. In fact, Jinx was really looking forward to it. "Finally I will find my dream man!" she said.
"Yes, and the best part is that no Opalite can bother us!" all three cackled as they opened their wings and disappeared into the night. The inhabitants of the islands did not know that they will soon be threatened by three dangerous witches.
So that no one is confused. Cuppy is the Cuphead from the video game.
