Note: the following is my first attempt at writing a story. It is based on an idea I had several months ago that I've spent the last few hours thinking about nonstop. If you don't like it, I apologize. If you do, then I recommend visiting my YouTube channel, T-Sisk Productions, because I'm thinking about turning this story into a series of fan films. I already have another fan film series in the works, so there's a chance I may not get around to doing that.

But, enough about that. Let's get to the story!

Prologue:

Tokyo, Japan, in the year 1994. The city is in ruins, shrouded by a mixture of smoke and radioactive gases. This was the result of Godzilla's final battle. A mutated abomination, known by us humans as Destoroyah, had gone on a murderous and destructive rampage throughout the city before being confronted by Junior, Godzilla's adopted offspring. The two engaged in an intense battle before young Junior seemingly defeated his opponent. Not long afterward, Destoroyah reappeared, more powerful than ever. In this new form, Destoroyah demonstrated his power by exacting revenge on the juvenile.

Having seen this terrible event, Godzilla, who was also more powerful than ever, went into a vengeful rage and engaged in a long, intense struggle with the beast who killed the only family he had. Unfortunately, Godzilla himself was dying. His body was undergoing a biological nuclear meltdown of sorts. As he neared meltdown temperature, Destoroyah attempted to flee, only to be stopped by advanced human weaponry. His wings frozen, the demon fell to his doom. Those same weapons were then turned on Godzilla in order to nullify the effects of his meltdown.

The explosive chain reaction they feared was halted, but it wasn't enough to save the King of the Monsters, whose body couldn't handle the extreme temperatures it put out and melted. A massive amount of radiation was released when Godzilla's body was destroyed, turning Tokyo into a dead zone. The human scientists and military personnel who were involved in these events, whether they saw it in person or through a screen, could do nothing but stare. Some were relieved that Godzilla, the creature they spent years trying to destroy, was finally dead. Others mourned his passing and Junior's. All were in shock at the sight of the toxic, empty, lifeless ruin Tokyo had become.

A long silence followed. Then, the silence was broken when computers monitoring Tokyo detected a sudden decrease in radiation levels. It didn't take long for the cause to be identified. Several hundred meters away, among the clouds of smoke, illuminated by a bright white light, a figure stood. It was Junior, alive, well, and now a fully-grown adult.

Nobody really knows how this happened. A leading theory formulated by human scientists was that as he died, Godzilla transferred his energy to his son, much like what the monster Rodan once did for him. However this happened, nobody could deny the fact that it had happened. The new King of the Monsters had arisen, and this is his story...

He had fallen. His first fight with another kaiju and he failed to kill it. He watched his ailing father do his best to finish the job. After several minutes, it appeared as if the creature had been defeated.

Godzilla approached, sadness and concern in his eyes. He leaned down, a small amount of glowing orange vapors emanating from his mouth when he exhaled. Junior knew what he was doing. He also knew that it wouldn't work.

Even as Godzilla tried to heal him, Junior could feel his life ebbing away. His body had become cold and numb. His vision was blacking out. The last thing he felt was the excruciating pain from his fall fading away. The last thing he saw was his father's face. The last thing he heard was his father's anguished cries.

Some time later, he opened his eyes. He was very confused. All he could see was a bright light. His body was no longer cold or numb, but something felt... different. A minute or so later, the blinding light began to fade. Now that he could see, he stood up. It was then that he realized that his wounds were healed. He took a quick scan of his surroundings, quickly realizing that a large portion of the city was destroyed.

He smelled something. Something strange. Something repulsive. Burnt flesh. It carried a distinct odor, one Junior recognized instantly. It was his father. After taking a closer look at the city, Junior saw a massive pillar of smoke and steam rising from an open area near the city's center. It was then that the realization hit him. His father was gone.

He roared in pain. A small part of him hoped that he was wrong, that his father would come running, but it was no use. He leaned down, lowering his head in a sort of bow as a sign of respect for the fallen warrior. He rose, and began to walk away, back to the ocean. He walked slowly, taking the time to survey his surroundings a bit more; something Godzilla taught him to always do just in case an enemy was nearby.

Junior didn't know what became of the one who "hurt" him, so he had every right to be cautious. For all he knew, Destoroyah was the one who killed his father. He looked back at the place where his father died. It was then that he noticed a second, smaller pillar of smoke. Cautiously, he went to investigate. As he approached, he detected another familiar scent, Destoroyah's scent. He was relieved to see it was his killer's remains the smoke was coming from. At least now, he wouldn't have to worry about that monster ever again. Once again, he turned around, heading for the ocean.

The other reason Junior had been so cautious up until that point was the fact that the glowing light that nearly blinded him when he awakened never completely disappeared. In fact, it seemed to emanate from directly behind him. This had put him on edge, making him believe that at any moment, he would be attacked by a creature that glowed. As he soon discovered, this assumption couldn't be further from the truth. As he approached the water's edge, the light illuminated the water, not only revealing itself, but allowing Junior to see his reflection. The glow was coming from the spines on his back (he would later find out that they glowed when he absorbed large amounts of radiation,) which had grown much larger and turned a lighter shade of gray (almost pure white, in fact.) The rest of his body had also grown, although, instead of turning a lighter shade of green, it did the exact opposite. Junior's scales had turned such a dark shade of green, in fact, that at this time of night, he appeared black.

All in all, Junior was almost the spitting image of his father before the meltdown started. Junior then thought back to when he found out Godzilla was gone and realized that the roars that escaped his mouth were not his normal high-pitched roars, but his father's. It startled and disturbed him at first and he had no idea how this happened, but eventually, Junior came to the realization that his father would never be truly gone. Instead, Godzilla lived on in him. (Oh, he had no idea how right he was.) This comforted the young adult, and made it easier for him to leave this place. As Junior stepped into the water and began to swim away, he had no way of knowing about the hundred or so spectators that had been watching him, including a large crab-like creature that had fled from the city.

One whose only thought was revenge.

Alright, there it is. The first chapter in this little project. Much more to come. There are a lot of surprises in store, some of which have been hinted at already. Lots of action, too. I'll try to have the next page up as soon as I can. Hope you like it so far. Peace out!
