I love Harry Potter and will make a great story for it damn it!

I need to make it great with an OC!

'What an interesting mind you have... a strong sense of duty and honor, but also a sense of selfishness and cunning... you would make a fantastic Slytherin but there is no way I would send a muggleborn into Slytherin... so it will be... HUFFLEPUFF!"

Melody smiled, moving away from the Sorting Hat and the stool, and moved down towards the cheering table yellow figures. Happily, she sat down, waiting for everyone else to be sorted. Everyone seemed incredibly excited to see Harry Potter be sorted, she had overheard many people talking about him on the train ride over. She only slightly understood why they were excited, he had survived a curse no one else ever had and caused the death of the Dark Lord who terrorized the people for over a decade. There were books on him too, both him and You-Know-Who. She didn't say anything, the boy seemed scrawny and unimpressive, but she managed polite applause as he entered Gryffindor, making the Hufflepuffs sort of sad.

"Hello there!" A boy with nice curly hair and a beautiful face turned to her. "You're a muggleborn, right?"

"Yeah, you?"

"No, pure blood, Fourth Year. I try to help everyone out, you know since Muggleborns tend to not be told everything they need to know. I guess I should at least warn you about a few of the professors." He gestured to the table where the professors were sitting. "First off there is McGonagall, she is great but strict. She doesn't listen when she's mad, which is often, but she is a great professor. She teaches transfiguration and is the Head of Gryffindor and the Deputy Headmistress."

Melody nodded. "She is the one that took me to Diagon Alley... She was pretty stern and a little rude to be honest."

Cedric nodded. "She is kind rude. Then there is Snape." He pointed to the man at the far end of the table, with sallow skin, a hooked nose, and bat like appearance. "He teaches potions, powerful man, terrible man. He is abusive, rude and will punish you for breathing. I am not kidding, even slightly! Be very, very careful. Don't question him or ask questions or anything... he is a monster."

She shivered at the look of fear in his eyes. "How is he a teacher?"

"Professor and... well we have no idea. There is no point in telling the others, the staff never helps. Not even Sprout, our Head of House. She is great but honestly even she says to never go against Snape, Dumbledore doesn't listen, ever."

Melody frowned. "That's... really, really screwed up."

"Yeah... since you're American, he might hold a greater grudge. He seems to have a reason to hate some people more than others."

Sighing, she nodded. "I will keep that in mind..." 'Why does no one intervene... in the Muggleworld he would be reprimanded for that crap instantly... what is this place really?' It was sort of easy to have the rose-colored lense of the magical world come crashing down with Cedric's words. To be honest she had already been hestiant, nothing is as perfect as McGonagall had made it out to be but Magic was Magic! Who could not be excited and overcome with happiness about that... 'I really need to do better, not let myself get so excited over this... let the faults be clear and show. That was a lesson I learned a long time ago... ' Turning to Cedric, she asked. "Who else should I be warned about?"

"Filch, he is the caretaker, a squib and he is a bastard. He will punish everyone for breathing, no matter who you are. Be careful with him." He gestured to a man at the end of the Great Hall, a nasty-looking, dirty man holding a cat. "That cats a bastard too, they both are. Mrs. Norris. She can see you and you'll be found by her master."

"Wow... I will be very careful." And she would... she did not trust this place already, just from what little she was told, it was not this bright, shiny gift from the Gods McGonagall treated it like... it was human, it was flawed and like everything else, it was to be survived.

After a stupid school song and speech from Dumbledore, Hufflepuff was led to their House, behind some barrels that would spray you with vinegar if you tried entry and could not manage the correct tapping of your wand. The actual House was beautiful and cozy, with a lot of bronze, leather and plants. It felt homey and comfortable and beautiful. She loved every moment of being there.

They were led into their rooms afterward, and within ten minutes Melody fell asleep, terrified of what was to come but eager to try magic for the first time...

Her final thoughts were this. 'Is Cedric right, are the teachers really this bad... I really, really hope not.. '

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
