Author's Headnote: WARNING: I MAY TAKE LIBERTIES WITH CANON AND CHARACTER BEHAVIOR! I had this Idea in my head for a fanfic and it's Distracting me from my main project, so in conclusion, this is a mere side project to help me get back on track for my main project, Vast Domain (It's a Low-Quality Webcomic on Dev-Art and Pat). Basically, I had this Idea around about Ruby Rose being turned into a vampire, but as soon as I found this website, I found out that I'm not the only one. However, I notice most of these tend to be on the soft and squishy side of things (I've read some of them and I found them interesting). So here we are, with a unique take on Remnantian vampirism influenced by various franchises. Now here's the part where somebody tells me to stop it with the AN and start writing the story. RWBY is owned by Roosterteeth and the Late Monty Oum.

End of Main character status report
Beacon Academy: 6:00PM, Gymnasium
The one-month break between semesters is almost about to end, and with it the second semester and classes. Blake being distant and always having her nose in her book or notebook at all times, and Weiss being the typical studious Ice queen. Yang focusing on either her nerdy stuff or her more athletic stuff. And than there's Ruby Rose. the fifteen year old scythe-wielding child prodigy... of course she didn't really like being called that when the year started. Together the four of them form Team RWBY. Although not famous and on the headlines. It's not really what Ruby cared for anyway. She just wanted to help people.
She's the child of Taiyang Xiao-Long and the late Summer Rose.
She's currently the youngest student in Beacon Academy. most students her age would be attending Signal Academy. But Ruby got into Beacon early for two reasons. One was her exceptionally high combat scores in Signal academy, the other could be described as a small event. She had an encounter with notorious criminal Roman Torchwick. and attempted the thwart her, she did a severe number on his goons. But there was one person that almost took out Ruby, she had casted bolts of fire at Ruby, and she would have ended up with a severe burning scar or worse if not for Professor Goodwitch. And... that's how she got into Beacon.
To think one small event is what got here, that shows the effect. that it only takes one thing to change someone's life... forever.
The beacon academy gymnasium doesn't host a class, the students go there regularly to either train or improve on their physical. Yang Xiao Long was no exception, she's a regular there, needing to keep up both her combat skills and her physical prowess, a huntsman or huntress doesn't improve on being lazy after all. Ruby does some heavy cardio and the hand-to-hand spar with Jaune now and then (Weapons aren't allowed in the gymnasium, that's what the combat arenas are for). Weiss doesn't go to the gymnasium, rather exercises on her own, and focuses on her dance moves to increase her combat prowess. Blake comes in weekly to do her acrobatics, which is always on Friday.
Ruby was wearing her athletic wear, a tank top and some shorts, along with sneakers. Yang was wearing a tank top and sweat pants, also wearing sneakers. both of which were in their iconic color patterns.
Ruby watching Yang and Nora's friendly boxing match as she is working on her cardio, Sure Ruby's semblance is a speed one... but if one lets their semblance compensate for their weakness, their semblance would become weak... it didn't make sense for Ruby when she first heard that, but whenever she exercises her running, her petal bursts tend to be faster. Yang on the otherhand focuses moreso on strength workouts, she can't rely on her semblance to give her strength all the time after all. This normally occurs every time Ruby and Yang heads to the gym. And then, all of the sudden.
SPARK ZAP ZZHHHH
The Power went out! And then...
"GAAAAHH! MY EYES!" She heard Yang shout; Nora must have punched her in the eyes which means... oh no.
As the backup power goes on, everyone has stopped what they were doing and are standing completely still. Yang, however, was waving her arms around, as if she was blind. Ruby knows this was exactly the case, since Nora had broken Yang's contact lenses. It's not exactly Nora's fault, but Ruby is still angry at her. Unfortunately, Yang's glasses were at RWBY's Dorm; Ruby would have to bring her near-sighted sister back to the dorm and put her glasses on.
"What's up with Yang?" Nora asked out of concern, and curiosity.
"You broke her contact lenses; she can't see anything farther than 6 feet in front of her!" Ruby responded in a harsh tone, given it was Nora who broke them.
"Yang wears contact lenses?" Jaune asked in response to Ruby's answer to Nora's initial question.
"She's been wearing them since she was twelve. When she unlocked her semblance, her eyesight was hindered. Our dad didn't notice it until she was five, and took her to an eye doctor. She doesn't like wearing glasses though, and we had to get her to put them on until we got her contacts." Ruby gave a long response to Jaune, as she grabbed onto Yang's arm.
"Come on Yang, let's get back to the dorm and get your glasses on." Ruby stated in a serious tone.
"Do I have to?" Yang responded, of course yang knew Ruby was carrying her, she typically does when this happens. She wouldn't know what to do if her contacts broke without Ruby nearby.
"Yes, Yang. You can't fight grimm if you can't see them!" Ruby said, in a concerned tone.
Growing up, Yang was the one who watched out for Ruby, due to being her older sister and in a non-traditional sense, her mother. But as Ruby grew older and learned how to cook, the dependency has been two-way, although Yang is the one who knows how to drive. Whenever Yang's contact lenses break, she needs Ruby as a seeing eye dog, figuratively. Mostly because Yang typically keeps her glasses near her bed. Although Ruby keeps telling her to bring with her at all times, but she never listens.
Beacon Academy: 6:12PM, RWBY Dormitory
A bit larger than most dorms in Beacon Academy, where as most dorms would be the size of like a typical college dorm, the RWBY Dorm is a lot more like a 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment complex. With the entrance being the living room, with a kitchen/dining room hybrid room adjacent to it, both have a pathway leading to the bedroom. There are two bathrooms, one in the living room which only consists of a toilet and sink, likely for visitors. and the other in the bedroom. which has a shower/bathtub hybrid thing in it and is larger. Although her team never questioned her absurdly large dorm. Weiss said she had nothing to do it with it when it was first assigned.
Ruby set down Yang at the living room couch, and went through Yang's drawer in the nightstand to get her glasses case. Knowing Yang, she buries it deep under all of her other supplies, mostly to hide to Weiss and Blake about her near-sightedness. Ruby grabs it and rushes to the living room, opening it, cleaning the lenses, and finally applying the Glasses onto Yang. Ruby finally relieved that Yang could be able to see clearly.
Yang, now wearing black box shaped glasses, looks at Ruby with a mortified face.
"Ruby, you know I don't like wearing these. They clash with my outfit." Yang stated.
"Come on Yang, you know don't have any other choice. Your contact lenses broke after the power went out and I have to order you new ones." Ruby responded.
"We have technology Rubes; we can just order one via. our scrolls." Yang brings out her scroll and looks shocked. "Can you open up your scroll? Mine for some reason has no signal." Yang asked Ruby.
Ruby, with an intrigued response, opens up her scroll. Huh, no Signal. That's odd, a power outage shouldn't disrupt the CCT, it's not even near Beacon. It's at central park. well, there goes ordering them. "I guess I'll have to go out and order your contact lenses after all." Ruby stated, in a gloom tone.
Ruby than went get changed out of athletic wear and hopped into the shower.
Gotta take a quick shower, can't waste any time! Yang is counting on me!
After 5 minutes, Ruby got out of the shower, dried herself off, and got dressed in her combat/street clothes, AKA: the outfit Ruby is typically seen in. Huntsmen and huntresses don't typically wear armor, mostly because of aura. but that didn't stop people like Pyrrha, Jaune, or Cardin.
She uses her semblance to rush to the lockers to get Crescent Rose, her signature ambidextrous bolt-action rifle/scythe weapon. She than rushes with her semblance to get to the bullhead out of Beacon and into Vale. She leaves a hefty mess of Rose petals behind when doing so.
City of Vale, 6:47 PM, Downtown
Downtown Vale, it's home to the only eye-care facility open past 5PM. It is also home to 'From Dust and Dawn': the dust shop Ruby visisted the day before she got accepted into Beacon. She typically goes here for the late-night shopping. Well... if one would consider 6 PM, late night. given the current timing... the sun would only set at around 7PM, and rise at 5 AM... although that will change in a week when it shifts to 6PM being the start of night, and 6 AM the start of day.
The reason why the huntress-in-training would need her trusty weapon in downtown because of the less reputable populace tend to scrawl around at night, especially at downtown. Mostly muggers and 'workers of the night' (and that doesn't mean people who work the nightshift), Ruby knows better than to give out money to people who are not behind a cash register. She won't be gullible like last time.
Fortunately, Ruby's only fifteen, so neither would approach her, the former for being that children don't typically carry money on them, and the latter because it's not legal to sell 'services' to minors. That would just leave the kidnappers, of course Ruby has her own plans with dealing with them. A huntress is always prepared for confrontation, but they would never kill someone. they are protectors of the world, not vigilantes.
There are also legends and fairytales portraying of vampires, but vampires aren't real. So Ruby wouldn't need to be worried about those. And even than, Ruby can deal with a vampire just like any other bad guy.
Ruby spent thirty entire minutes roaming the downtown for an eye-doctor facility open this late. It's called 'Dr. Akhdir's eyecare and spectacles', Must be from Vacuo. But the origin of one's being doesn't change how their skills are merited in any way. She entered the building and went straight up to the doctor. No patience to make an appointment for her sister.
The doctor, with bronze skin and green eyes. was wearing the typical doctor outfit... with a green secondary color. "Yes, little girl? How can I help you?" the Doctor asked.
"I'm here to place an order for Yang Xiao Long." Ruby stated, and handed a copy of Yang's contact prescription.
The doctor reviewed the paper. He noticed that the details for the optics do not match Ruby's. "This Yang, why is she not here, but you instead?" he asked in an investigative tone.
"She's my sister. She doesn't like being seen wearing her glasses, she says the glasses clash with her 'style'. I tell her she could get a pair of glasses that could go with her outfit, but she'd rather wear contacts. So, she sent me to get them since we can't order them via. scroll because for some reason scroll service there is down when the power went out. Yang gave me enough money to pay for it so I'm going to pay you in advance." She placed the 6000 Lien right at the counter.
The Vacuoan Doctor took the money and smirked. "Beacon, huh? Did her old pair break from a training accident? No matter, I'll get a new pair for her in 3 days at 8PM. Make sure you remember, or she'll just have to get used to wearing glasses."
"Gotchia." Ruby simply stated. She wrote down on a piece of paper 'Contact lenses Thursday 8PM' and placed it somewhere safe. Hopefully nothing would ever go wrong. Since it's around 7:20 PM, the sun is just about down, so more of the bad people will show up and-
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE COOKIES! THAT MAN IS BEING ATTACKED BY A BEOWULF IN THE MIDDLE OF VALE!
Although one would question why a man is running from a beowulf in the middle of an urban location, much less a single one. She would wonder why a single beowulf is uncharacteristically attacking a man in the middle of the city, where there are huntsmen and huntresses everywhere, but now is not the time for questions. A man is in danger, and it's a huntress's job to save said person.
She unfolded Crescent Rose into scythe form, using an air-dust bullet to launch herself towards the grimm, launching herself double-time without causing damage with the bullet like a gravity round would. With the quick acceleration from the air round, she decapitated the beowulf in a single swing. Beowolves are pack grimm, why would only one chase this man by itself? Only way this would be possible is if the man attacked the beowulf first and aggravated it, but that wouldn't make sense. No matter, grimm slayed, day is saved!
"Thank you, kind girl, a reward is surely needed for this act of heroism." the man said in an offering tone.
The man was wearing a very luxurious, more pristine high-quality clothing. which is out of place for someone in downtown. Mostly all the wealthy folk would be in uptown. the clothing was mostly red with some white. His hair was black, and well combed. his eyes were pink, and his face... the veins around them were purple and expressive. but it doesn't look veiny, but rather only the color is expressive. Is he sick or something?
"No thanks! A huntress doesn't need a reward for doing her job!" Ruby responded, folding Crescent Rose back and putting it away. Usually people just either give their saviors something or they don't, something's fishy. Ruby turned away and started to head back to Beacon.
"No... but I insist." The man said in an offering, but... hungry? Tone.
Then suddenly, as ruby was trying to walk away, she stopped. But she didn't stop on her own... she felt... paralyzed, like she's forced to stay in one position, against her will.
What's going on? Why can't I move? I don't like this! Let me go, let me go, LETMEGOLETMEGOLETMEGOLETMEGOLETMEGOLETMEGOLETMMEGO!
She was struggling to fight her stasis, but it was all at vain. She saw that man; she saw him open his mouth and BITE her. His fangs piercing her neck, feeling the blood from her body leaving... with a strange feeling entering it.
She couldn't move, she started to feel numb as she felt her blood leaving her body. She didn't want to die like this! paralyzed in stasis, helpless, and at the mercy of the man she saved, and rewarded her by biting her neck. Then everything faded to black.
Author's Footnote: And that is the prologue, I have edited my self-deprecating footnote out because it discourages reviews. This chapter is one that I've written first so it's not very good, ignore any self-deprecation on my author's notes.
