When I opened my eyes I saw the stars, the moon, and sunflowers? Oh thats cool it's a field of sunflowers that seem oddly fascinated with me rather than looking at the bright full moon.

"I can take a guess of where I am...but that would be impossible...right?" The ever present cool breeze blew past me.

Brrr... somehow I'm actually clothe for this but, if I'm really in the Field of the Sun then that means...great maybe she'll help me.

Cupping my hands together and putting my hoodie over my head the only thing missing was my glasses. Not that it would matter much if she hates me. I just stayed on the path but with low visibility and even worse eyesight I just squinted forward as the cool air around felt suffocatingly cozy for some reason. I try to make out which I way I was going by facing the moon but was unhelpful in this confusing straight line and massive field of flowers. So I kept going in hopes that maybe she's asleep. I already feel nausea from being in the cold this long and can feel myself stumbling forward.

Ugh, the cold..I'm gonna sneeze.

"AHH A-ACHOO!"

"Bless you." I stop and turn towards the foreign sound and sure enough amidst the moonlight and the middle of the dirt path was a woman. Holding a flower parasol, Only in casual sleepwear. Even if I could run, my condition was getting worse.

"I wonder how you got here...like you just appear unannounced amongst the flowers. You don't look so good as if this little autumn breeze is enough to keel you over." If I had to guess from her demeanor she was fully aware of me since I appeared. The calm cadence in her voice. I was like a foreign entity inside a healthy body a virus that wouldn't flourish before being snuff out. I was in no condition to run as I shiver I only notice that she herself judging from my own blurry vision was lightly shaking.

"We should get inside and warm up, it'll look bad for me to have another unintentional death in my garden." Before I could react I was pulled close to her with an audible gasp left my mouth as we both stumble towards a house. She smell of sunflowers and oil. The small candle lit window and the flower painted pattern on the door. Reaching to the brass doorknob and fumbling as our hot breath mix together.

*Creeeeaak*

"Finally, well come along you're surprisingly warm and I don't have the furniture to spare it'll be just for the night and in the morning we'll decide what to do." I could clearly see her short green hair amidst the light orange glow of the candle before she blew it out. The awkwardness of our position only got worse as she lead me to the only other room other than the connected living room and kitchen. Inside was adorn with vines and pots with flowers and growing vegetables. The bed was not made for two people. Nonetheless, with fumbling of shoes and soft thumps soon after.

*Fwump*

It's as awkward as you can imagine two unknown people to be. She didn't seem to care, and I wasn't in a position to complain we'll wait out the night like this until morning. The steady rise and fall of our breathing was oddly calming. I didn't expect this really. It kinda just happens and that's life. Things just happened. I hug her midsection tighter to not fall if from our precarious position and it seem to not elicit much a reaction from the woman who still had one red eye looking at me with fatigued curiosity.

"You're an honest child unlike some... I'll admit this wasn't as bad as I thought it be." Her voice was a mere whispered as I closed my eyes and let warmth and tiredness takeover.

"Hey...Hey kid... GET UP ALREADY!" A groan escapes me as the sign of daylight met my gaze I realize I could barely move and that the two if us where tangle before we went into a struggle frenzy falling on opposite sides of the bed. Hearing a girlish yelp on the other side.

"Aaggh, finally awake? I'm behind by thirty minutes the only reason I didn't just kick you off of me was because I was tired as well." From my seated position on the wooden floor I can finally see. I'm in my normal winter attire, Blue jeans and a Black hoodie. The opposite of the vibrant colors and the lavender sleepwear that the woman was adorn in.

"So, can you understand me or are you gonna act like a lost puppy?" I gave her a nod but something was off about me, I felt heavier until I look at the mirror and realized... I was in my teenage body again. I wave and the figure waved back with the same slack jaw expression. I look to the left to see the woman neutral expression at my antics in the mirror. Seemingly satisfied with the confirmation that I can in fact hear her.

"Wonderful, if you can understand me then get out. I need to change and you're gonna help with flower tending cause I can't have lazy people living in my home." Believe it or not I was good at basic gardening as my family grew alot of flowers. I mearly gave her another nod and picked up my shoes and left her bedroom.

Turns out the only thing in the living room and kitchen was 2 tables, and 5 chairs. with a shelf of assorted books. One was in English, a basic how to on gardening yeah I'm gonna need that. Picking it out and skimming through it while I waited for her to get ready for the day, my nose long since stop running from the extended warmth but this constant squinting was gonna give me a headache.

Even if I could focus on the sudden creaking of the floorboards it was subtle enough that most wouldn't hear it. I close the book to see her standing there in gardening attire with extra pair of leather gloves to give me. I realize the two of us don't really speak so I just gingerly took the gloves and put them on as I follow her outside.

AUUGH, the sun with these bright flowers it's a menagerie of colors that isn't help by this woman's bright leaf green hair.

My constant scowl matching her slight disdain it looked like we hated eachother.Far from it, we both just have perpetual resting bitch face at the moment. She stop leading me as we came upon a messy patch of weeds encircling a tomatoes patch. Alot of the red juicy fruits were ready to be picked.

"Alright child, you'll be handling weeds and picking ripen tomatoes before those pesky harvest gods come here, get it done by tonight and don't cause trouble. If trouble comes for you...scream and run away." With that she adjusted her straw hat and picking up a harvest wicker basket and left lumbering away behind a sea of sunflowers.

You can do this, it's like I'm back home just more fat and shorter. Better start with the weeds so I just pull them by the roots.

So I begun with the first stalk and check the roots and sure enough the weeds were becoming vines. Parasitic plants steal nutrients from healthy ones until they both die. While I dislike manual labor and prefer to be lazy I had no intentions in angering the person who shows kindness to strangers. So the weed tending began with little incident.

pluck* *pluck*

The harvest moon is calling

pluck* *pluck*

If I had to choose I'll be right there falling

pluck* *pluck*

Falling for the rising winter sun

pluck* *pluck*

The sun is not warming up until winter

*pluck* *pluck*

Fades away into spring

pluck*...

Oh that was the last weed, well better start on those tomatoes before it gets...hot.

If I had to guess I was an hour into the day and wearing black in the sun was a death wish. Taking off the hoodie help cooled me off but only a little. Oh good, a generic white tee. The only thing other thing else I had was my own light brown skin. Oddly enough that woman's complexion was closer to mine than just a straight tanned skin. Then again being in sun would do that to ya... but her's looked natural. Picking up the second wicker basket available and inspecting the stalks free of weeds and vines, they seemed... relaxed? Going, from each stalk picking each fully red one and inspecting them for parasites or insects.

Spring is a memory of which I'll forget

Summer is the tidal wave of regret

If I can only have one season to digest

I want it to be the lonely autumn harvest

Before I notice how tired and broken I felt. I heard something familiar.

*Tink*

Couldn't be? Could it?

I look towards the sound and sure enough it her with two stragglers behind her. In her hands a tray with some food and 4 cups and clear pitcher that had misshapen ice cubes in a very southern looking sweet tea. The lag behinds was a blue hair fairy and the other a blond porcelain faced doll that was slightly bigger than the child size fairy.

"He doesn't look very strong, Yuuka why is he here? The blonde doll looked at me in incredulity. Having zero interest in my existence. The other seem wary more so of Yuuka than me.

"Ehhhh? Is he like your kid? You both looked similar almost." This made Yuuka's face to tinged slightly darker as I was only one in front I could see it clearly. Then again, other than the our skin I suppose we both have a weirdly puffy face with the same disinterest with things. However, the fairy looked exactly like us in skin tone.

You're one to talk ya tanned fairy.

Yuuka mearly huffed and set the tray on the dirt floor, and sat down with her legs outstretched. She promptly began pouring a glass and grab a cut sandwich and offer it to me. I took it from her and began eating.

I really haven't eaten in awhile, I've been so busy lately. Also, I'm really sweating just how long as it been?

I looked at the sky to confirmed my guess of time...IT'S BEEN FOUR HOURS SINCE WE'VE STARTED!?

I thought it was only two hours or one, but I look back at the stalks and the basket was filled with tomatoes. Only for the doll to come up to the basket and looked at it before nodding.

"He's not bad actually, he ordered the fruits properly, the stalks are thread bare, and the weeds have been taken care of. Huh, you're lucky kid, one mishap with Yuuka's plants is a certified death sentence. Amateur work yes, but this might finally be her big break." The doll began lightly sipping from her glass of tea while the fairy was preoccupied happily chomping down on her own sandwich and was messy to begin with. I look at the woman named Yuuka and it seems her demeanor changed from stern to exhausted judging from her constant control breathing between careful bites. Her bloodshot eyes where focus on the tall sunflowers. The darken blush hadn't left her face as she snuck in a quick sip from her own glass in hopes that no one notices.

"Medicine,Cirno you may go play now. Thank you for your help dear child. You're honestly the first to know how to pick the right ones for harvest. I had other fruits and vegetables ready to stop those pesky gods from stepping in my land this year. So, thank you."

She barely turned her head instead focus her eyes on me who was staring back at her. The hat adorned on her head was crooked to say the least. As for the other two, Medicine took her leave never taking her leftover drink while Cirno pick up it up a drank it greedily. If I had a say about the tea it tasted like home. Like my grandmother's sweet tea. It's sweet and bitter and if it was warm the taste would be muted. It's not a taste I'll never forget. Yuuka waited for the assorted 3 empty glass and empty tray before grabbing it and getting up.

"Anyways I need to head to the village to get ready for winter and I need an extra hand, but first a name." I try to give her an answer until-

*SHERRRRN BWAAAM*

That was a laser and thats...the sunflowers burning. I'm gonna need water, but where?

"OI!! ULTIMATE SADISTIC CREATURE COME OUT ALREADY!" The voice shook the ground as a giant rock came flying towards our location. Only for yuuka to summon a giant vine and block the incoming keystone.

"DAMN CELESTIALS! STOP RUINING MY HOME!! Ugh... guess it can wait here's a list and a bucket for holding water can be found at the entrance. I don't care if you run through the sunflowers just get outta here!" In a hurry she stuff a piece of paper into my chest and knowing this isn't my place I took towards the path.

"GO LEFT!" with that I took to the left in a hurry definitely not the fastest teenager but adrenaline is a hell of a drug. A good solid three minutes went on until I came upon near the entrance and saw the aforementioned bucket, filled with rain water.

I can't really help if I'm dead, so I'll be back after I get to the village.

So a brisk pace is all I could muster from this exhaustive experience, and tea and a sandwich isn't much to tide over how long it's been in the sun for me. If I had to guess it would be night within 5 hours from now or less. If I keep going straight I have a feeling the village gate will appear and the walking path among the trees and brush is obviously lined by constant walking.

Let's see if water is just two hydrogen and one oxygen molecule, couldn't just about anyone here produce it at will? So why didn't Yuuka...unless there's hard rules to people's power and abilities. Then again, she's acting alot nicer than I thought. Running from a flying rock not withstanding.

As I ponder the possibility that each person might be extremely restrictive of their abilities I felt slightly cooler than normal. I check my surroundings but saw nothing and it felt too close like it came from... no. Impossible.

Water

Holding a finger out and sure enough a small lining of water mix with sweat has formed.

Well... what about fire?

As I kept walking I felt extremely warm and nearby leaves were slightly scorched as I walked by with invisible flames.

I wish I know how this was possible as I'm not magical nor an astute mage but this feels...too advance .Well how about just a slightly cooler body for now? No water or ice.

I felt cooler and the aura chang from extreme warmth to a cool autumn breeze that was self contained around me. If I have an ability it'll be some form molecular control that as long as I understand the physics of it...I can just produce it. Maybe, but I ain't got time to figure it out. One more trick...levitation?

Yo can this make me lighter?

I slightly lift off the ground and did a hard push with one leg and floated towards the incoming gate. Two guards in brass armor holding classic iron spears one gave a halt and I promptly stop floating and got back unto the ground.

"Ya don't look like a yokai I've ever seen. But that skin tone...EH!?" They both looked stupefied at me as I was just confused, well more so than usual.

No way!? How long did she have a kid!?" One of them looked at me with extreme caution.

"Ahem, we should start with what brings you here kid?" I just show them the list turns out it was in English and Japanese. They nodded before one grab a nearby lever a pulled.

"It's best to not keep the child from her for too long go about your business and don't cause no trouble these are honest folk just trying to live." I walked in agreement, and soon realize I didn't have... any... cash...?

Yuuka must of slip me some yen cause I don't remember carrying this in my pockets.

Oh right the contents?...Let's see, Fresh pepper seeds, corn seeds, cherry seeds. A few types of rose saplings(if possible). Some of this was more or less are a get them if possible judging by how old and crumbling the paper was. Important listing was just (GET HEDGECUTTERS). I think she means farming cutters not giant hedge trimmers. She probably hasn't got all the farming tools she needs it'll be better to check Rinnosuke's place. Another time perhaps.

After putting away the list in my pocket, I scramble away to farming side of the village knowing I'll find fruits and vegetables seeds better there. Looking through the bustling crowd and slipping by narrowing escaping being crushed between people.

Oh, there it is a farmer's market, atleast by the pungent sharp scent of dirt combined with slight hint of spice and oil that plants give off after being picked or cut.

A kind looking florists was tending to his stock of flowers. I tap his shoulder to get his attention. He look inquisitive of me so I show him the list and he gave me two bags with labels of various flowers listed and strangely enough the fruits and vegetables.

"Price is only 1000 yen. I trust you'll delivered these to Ms.Yuuka. Don't worry I actually have something else as well if you'll wait and it's on the house." With my dumbfounded face because the circumstances I'm in.I decided to leave the yen at the counter and waited. Soon, he emerged with something that was alot more modern version of gardening trimmers.

"Here, she's been asking for a long time for these and...I hope the man keeps her happy." I now couldn't stop my eye roll as I nodded and gave a curt smile.

WE DON'T LOOK THAT ALIKE DO WE?

Hurrying away back to gate only see a familiar Red white and Black white. Even with my silent steps it'll be impossible to slip by them. Both looked irritated at something.

"YA CAN'T BE SERIOUS, FOR HOW LONG, ZE!?" The witch hat wiggle wildly from her exclamation. While the giant bow stayed mostly still.

"I don't know but... maybe he can tell us?" She turned slightly to look at me.

Uh oh...well this looks bad.

At best I decided to just show them the list and seeds in hand. At best this gave me a confused looks.

"Oi Reimu, can we really just take him in? He's a kid and if he's her's it'd best to let'im go now, before ol momma bear gets mad." Reimu considered her options and just made a heavy sigh.

"Ugh, very well. Better get back to her quickly before I change my mind." With that I quickly walked by them both only to get stop by a hand on my shoulder. It's Reimu's slim hand.

"I don't know what she does, but you're oddly polite for someone from the Garden of the Sun. I wasn't looking forward for a fight with USC anytime soon. But still take care." With that she let me go and I wanted to get away from them both quickly and push off into the same float I've done before.

"WHOA, ZE!? HE MIGHT BE HER'S REI REI...LOOK!" As if small flight wasn't normal for them but I thought about it. Men, can't play danmaku. Therefore, flying isn't expected of them.

Huh, I guess but I'm scare of heights and even this secretly freaks me out. Anyways, I hope Yuuka is alright. After what I've seen she might not be that far from just collapsing on the spot.

I pushed harder on the ground and the momentum sped me along the path while my focus was on my balance and the path ahead.

I see why they fly it's less tiring than just running. I still hate this though. I wonder, can I produce lightning like this?

The requirements to build lightning was super fast collision of molecules. So if I want that I'll need to-

BRZZT*

Right, that'll work but what would I call this? Element control mix with my knowledge of science. Well, I could call it science breaker or whatever.

I sent the electromagnetic pulses to my feet and push hard ag-

*CRACK*

MUCH TOO FAST!

This time the cool breeze was interrupted by the sudden crackle sounds of thunder from my impact. I guess it react like normal lightning despite my weak kick and propel me forward blazing past the trees until I saw that familiar clearing and sunflowers.

Time, to stop...right so just reverse my momentum.

Sooner or later the forward push became a slow glide from the air back to the ground.

Well anything is possible if you live here so maybe.

I eyed the nearby burning flowers and the rain bucket.

The easiest thing is multiplying the rain water... I think?

I wanted to try it out for the sake of making it easier on her and so. I focus on the bucket with one hand and then both

"RAINSTORM NOVICE!" What I didn't expect was the sudden rain water to burst upwards and fall around me and unto the burning fields.

Yeah, that'll do. I just wish how I got this ability it's very useful. Maybe, it's from being so close to Yuuka and her flowers? Whatever the case, its magic and technical knowledge. Guess I'm a techer of sorts. Let's try that again.

Another, erratic eruption happen this time pulling the moisture from the ground and sending back into the air. It's been awhile since I've been in rain. Only to be block by a parasol as I look up.Parasol?

"Child? How, what? I suppose some of my magic rub off on you, or the garden has blessed you with this for you're help." Yep it was Yuuka she look even more disheveled than before the only thing changed was her state of dress it was almost all plaid with accented yellows except her button shirt.

"Well, we should head inside I've decided to name you myself, but I wanted to know if that was ok?" Given the fact I probably can't speak Japanese but understand her clearly means there is some language barrier that is broken. I just follow along and gave her a nod.

"Well child it's decided. You're Venus Rose of the Garden of the Sun. I trust you enough to help me with coming years. We'll explore your powers another time for now...can you?" Venus huh? I honestly don't mind the name. Then again...

I couldn't remember my original name for some reason... either it's boundary shenanigans or just fate being cruel but no matter how many memories I go through every mention of my birth name was scrub out...why?

"Venus?" I got lost in thought until I heard her voice... oh right the rain. I wave a hand and the rest of rain fell harshly unto the smoldering fields.

"Could use some more finesse, but you're far more astute then most who started out with magic. We'll train that into you but tomorrow We're gonna replant and watch the field grow before winter finally comes."

Yuuka was in high spirits a small smile was seen on her face, it felt genuine and real. I bet she didn't want to do more work. As we came upon the western house she stop just short of the front door.

"I believe I wanted my seeds." Oh right I handed her the bags and she quickly sat down and inspect them before one by one the seeds grew from her hands checking to see if they really were what she wanted. Clearly content with them, she carefully lay them in nearby pots; before reorganizing the seeds in her hands and putting them in a breast pocket.

"These will do.Oh, don't worry about Medicine she was able to send the tomatoes along their way before that pesky celestial crash our conversation." Back to that slightly irritated looked and exhausting face she had as she open the door. This time however there was a couch a few blankets on it.

I don't think that was there before?

My sentiment was affirmed when Yuuka went over to it and muttered something while shaking her head.

"Damn gap yokai." Is the best I could hear I've realize we both are pretty silent and awkward people and we even walk without much sound even on the way here it was just the rain and sound of ...clothes?

Oh no, my hoodie..where!?

For Yuuka she was trying to make the couch look more appealing as she turn she saw Venus' face look distraught about something. Before he took off to the front door she reach out to grab him but miss by few inches.

"VENUS WAIT!?"

DAMMIT WHERE IS IT?

"HOLD ON!"

Of course this looks bad from the perspective of the Black White seeing the Yokai burst from her door following Venus as he sped to the left.

Now ya done it now Yuuka. NOW I HAVE A REASON TO KICK YA ASS.

I honestly needed that and it'll suck to not have it for winter out here, so if I'm going right and then...HERE IT IS THANK GOODNESS. I grabbed the hoodie and was about to head back only to crashed into Yuuka.

"VENUS, I'M SORRY IF I SCARED YOU. JUST DON'T RUN AWAY LIKE THAT!" The sudden crashed back unto dirt floor for us both was not a soft landing.

"OI, ZE! YUUKA IF YOU TOUCH A SINGLE HAIR ON HIM I'LL FRY YOU TO A CRISP THIS TIME!" Of course we both looked at the mini hakkero pointed at us mostly in confusion. I just wanted my hoodie back not...all of this!

"Harm him, why would I do that? Marisa put that down he's a child."

Well actually I'm a teenager just apparently I'm not growing any facial hair oddly enough.I guess it's the height difference but Marisa is as tall as I am.

"That's exactly why I can't put this down, ya ever thought chasing a child was a good idea especially when HE'S YOU'RE KID!"

"Yamete(Stop)". They both looked at me.

Well that's one word outta of my limited Japanese vocabulary use.

Finally able to get up, I showed Yuuka the hoodie and hugged it for emphasis that I was looking for it despite the dirt all over it. She made an oh face while Marisa just felt more confused.

"I see."

"What?"

"I'm sorry Venus I overreacted ya just wanted the thing you came with to be with ya...I apologize for my actions." I gave her a smile and shook my head.

"Wait, you're name is Venus?...BWAHHAHAA YOU'RE NAME AFTER A GIRL'S NAME WHAT THE HELL YUUKA ZE!" If it wasn't obvious neither of us was laughing as we both gave her a deadpanned stare.

"Jeez, he might be actually related to ya Yuuka, ze." We both wanted to called it a night and went back to the house without saying anything to Marisa.

"COME ON ZE! IT WAS A JOKE! YA CAN'T BE CALLIN DUDES VENUS ZE!" In hindsight it a girl's name, but I didn't care. It's better to have a name and technically it's use on the Venus fly trap and that's an awesome plant.

Author Notes:Yep the standard self insert OC then again I prefer third person perspective of other people just not myself so really this is a form of practice. Why Yuuka? I honestly really like Yuuka's story and personality in canon. She's my favorite Touhou character.
