Disclaimer: I don't own Kick Buttowski.
Hi everyone! I'm back with a new story! WARNING: I'm trying out a new writing style AND i'm gonna keep chapters short. Not all the time but a lot of it. Please let me know what you think! Hope everyone is doing well!
It's said that the Mother of all mermaids and the Mother of all sirens are sisters.
She thinks there must be some truth in that because the first memory she has before she woke up on the ocean floor three moons ago was of two voices, both asking the same question.
"Do you…?"
One voice had been warm and peaceful, the other had been cold and spiteful. She had followed the first while the woman in front of her says she chose the second.
"When I woke up," The woman continues, "I was surrounded by rocks and I had a feeling down to the very tips of my feathers that it was gonna storm and I would be able to use my voice."
"I've never heard a siren sing before," She smiles, "I wonder if it would affect me the way it affects humans."
"Oh, I doubt it," The woman laughs, "If you're right, then Mother would be furious I hurt a Cousin."
She feels a pang deep in her heart. She's not sure why.
"So, what should I call you?" The woman asks.
What a curious question; everyone she knows calls each other the same thing, "Friend." She answers.
That earns an eyeroll, "Yes we're friends, but I've been watching humans and all of them have a unique word that they respond to called a 'name'."
"Mermaids don't have names."
"Sirens don't either but then again, we don't really get along, so I'd like to call you something different." The woman flaps her wings in excitement, "We could give each other names!"
In the end, her new name is Kaia meaning "the sea" and her friend's is Jazlee, meaning "dream".
