Chapter 1: To Hell With Hydra
Hydra, the infamous organization from World War II was still alive and well.
Despite the loss of Red Skull and the casualties against the Howling Commandos, they continued to not only survive, but thrive well into the new millennium. And they always sought out new weapons or new advancements to progress their conquest of the world. In 1995, their research created two children, both with the intent of creating a new breed of super soldier.
One was created through crude cloning methods, with the blood of Captain America himself, recovered from one of his many battle sites over the years and kept preserved. The genetics of Steve Rogers were utilized to clone a young girl, hopefully with the serum still running through her veins. She was a Caucasian girl with mid length blond hair, often kept in a ponytail, and bright blue eyes. The effects of the serum were noticeable as she was somewhat tall for her young age already and exhibited slowly developing super strength. Were Hydra still with the Third Reich, she'd be the embodiment of their ideals.
The second was created somewhat differently. Not long after her birth, she was carefully spliced with Feline genetics with the intent being to create a hybrid with the strengths of the animal half. The Process was very nearly a failure, but somehow the young girl survived and successfully gained catlike traits and capabilities. She was a Hispanic young girl covered from head to toe in a thin coat of light orange fur, with brown stripes along her arms and legs. She had long, full and wild brown hair running down to the center of her back. Her teeth grew in a catlike manner, her feet resembled a mix of human feet with paw-pads on the bottom, and both her fingers and toes ended in retractable claws. She had even grown a tail. The only unexpected side effects of the treatments were her eyes changing from their natural tones to more catlike, as well as her developing a form of Heterochromia, one being sky blue and the other gold. She had also, to the irritation of Hydra, developed a large number of feline personality quirks: A short attention span, a love of high places, even chasing mice.
The head scientist behind their creation was a woman named Doctor Santos. A Loyal Hydra scientist for at least 2 decades, she preferred to remain in the labs fiddling with genetics rather than put her faith in some damn cube from space as the rest of Hydra would, especially the Red Skull. She had nothing but disdain for the former head of Hydra. As for the experiments, she had decided to name them after a pair of characters from a cartoon she had watched during her time in the United States, and who the children, to her amusement, resembled.
The Super soldier was named Adora, after the protagonist of She-Ra. The Hybrid was named Catra, a recurring villain from the show and the rival to She-Ra herself. She had worked hard on raising the children and preparing them for deployment under Hydra. By the time they were Five however, something changed…
October, the year 2000, in an unknown location…
Adora and Catra were sitting together, practically glued to the TV in their room, as it played recorded episodes She-Ra, their favorite show. Even they had grown to find humor in being named after the show, and loved the enjoyable campiness of the classic 80's cartoon and others like it. Their fun quickly came to an end however, as a pair of agents walked into their room and turned the TV off.
"Huh? Why'd you turn it off?" protested the confused kitten as the Agents quickly tgrabbed her and Adora by the hands.
"There's been a change of plans. You are both being moved out of this facility. We are leaving Hydra." The agent replied.
"But Doctor Santos wouldn't want us to-" Adora began protesting before the agent shushed her.
"This is on HER orders." Another agent replied. "You ca continue watching your show when we arrive at our new location."
With much protest, the two were dragged off by the agents, the one grabbing Catra making sure to wear full body protection, as Catra was very scratch and bite happy. Eventually they resorted to injecting the two with a drug to induce sleep, and were thus able to carry them easier.
Doctor Santos was waiting for them with a small group of other agents, soldiers and scientists. She nodded and spoke up, "Alright, now let's leave before that idiot Strucker notices we're gone..." Motioning for her followers to load the children into trucks, she turned to a computer system and began to record a message for her former employer.
Several Hours Later:
Strucker arrived at the now abandoned base with a squad backing him up. He was already in a foul mood from the base having gone dark, but upon learning that not only was Doctor Santos gone, but they'd lost their best chance at a new super soldier in the process. He angrily shouted for everyone to fan out and salvage anything they could to restart the project.
As he scouted the facility he came across the main computer, and noticed a video was loaded up on it. Raising an eyebrow he clicked play on the video. He was immediately greeted by Dr. Santos.
"Hello Baron Strucker, I know it's you who's played this video," she began, "This is the last log I will be making for Hydra. As you're no doubt aware, I spearheaded Hydra's latest super Soldier projects. Further, I had been long investigating rumors of a power to put Schmidt's precious Tesseract to shame. The power of Inperatio, an ancient being spoken of in legend. Well… I found it. And it opened my eyes. Made me realize that Hydra is unworthy of my time and talent." Strucker began clenching his fists in rage as she continued, "Hydra is nothing more than a fossil, founded by a colossal imbecile who seemed to believe a cube from space would build him an empire. A failure stuck in a long forgotten age, being forced to survive by clinging to SHIELD like a bottom feeding parasite. How long does Zola really think he can hide us from Fury? I will not be tied to the dying carcass of an old age, nor will I allow MY creations to go down with it. I've taken Adora and Catra, as well as the majority of my staff and all the research notes. Oh and…. If you're thinking of intending to follow me, perhaps you should look closer at the console." Strucker's eyes drifted towards the console, where he realized a countdown to self-destruct had begun. "Goodbye Stucker."
In a panic, Strucker calle back everyone he could before the console exploded, the entire facility beginning to crumble and explode around them. He barely managed to escape with his life.
January 2009:
Adora kept her calm, fighting off several members of the Followers of Inperartio. Doctor Santos had founded the organization after leaving Hydra, and each of the soldiers wore a mix of black and red combat gear, and were fanatically devoted to Santos and the being they claimed to worship.
Adora swung her staff, knocking them to the floor of the raining room with ease. Dr. Santos had been pushing her to train harder and harder since their escape fro Hydra. As she cleared the room, she suddenly found herself knocked to the floor. She rolled onto her back before the figure leapt onto her and pinned her, smirking her usual cat-like smirk, a gleam in her mismatched eyes.
"Hey Adora~" Catra snickered, pinning Adora down, "looks like I win this time-"
Before she could finish, Adora swung her arm up, throwing Catra off balance and reversed the pin. "Almost Catra. But I'm still stronger." She quipped, smiling at the now embarrassed cat. At that moment, a sound played and training was officially declared over. Adora and Catra quickly got to their feet and stood at attention as Doctor Santos walked in.
"Impressive as always Adora. You made such short work of some of my best soldiers AND you managed to counter a sneak attack." she praised, before turning to Catra with a cold glare. "Catra on the other hand still isn't taking her training seriously. This isn't a game young lady..." Catra's ears drooped at the scolding. "You're both dismissed."
The two left the training room and Catra immediately punched wall. "Whoa whoa Catra, calm down." Adora pleaded with her lifelong friend.
"Calm down?! I almost had you there Adora. She couldn't even acknowledge that?" Catra shouted back, only being calmed by Adora putting her arm around her.
"She just expects a lot of your I guess." she replied, shrugging. "I mean, yeah I'm stronger but you are so much faster than me. I'm sure she'll have a use for you."
Catra sighed, walking with her. "I guess you're right."
Adora got a smile on her face and patted her on the back, causing Catra to stumble a bit. "Sorry! I keep forgetting my strength." Adora nervously said. "Come on Catra, how about we watch some She-Ra and relax?" she asked.
Catra looked up and her, then gave her smug cat smirk and shoved her. "Race you!"
"Oh you're on!" Adora replied as the two ran off towards their room.
To Be continued
Hey It's me again! Yeah I know I still have my Power Rangers story to do but this idea came to me while talking with my co-writer of that. He'd recently been trying to get me into the Netflix She-Ra show, and somehow we began joking about how well Adora and Catra can fit into many different universes. Thus spawned this bizarre crossover idea. Sooo… thanks Penumbranox!
NOTES: I do not own She-Ra or the MCU, obviously. Also I have not seen any further than Season 1 of She-Ra 2018 as of now so PLEASE refrain from spoilers in the comments!
NEXT TIME: The Soldier meets the Widow.
