Chapter 1

Essos. The Disputed Lands.

Flags fluttered in the wind followed by the sounds of cheers and the clattering cacophony of hooves hammering earth and splintering crashes of wood and metal. Aegon wheeled his horse, a charger black as sin, around as he took up another tourney lance offered to him. Hefting it in his arm, getting a feel for the weight of it, Aegon looked over at his opponent.

It had been a few weeks since Aegon and his teachers/family had joined up with the Golden Company. They had recently received word from the Spider that war had now engulfed Westeros following the death of the Usurper Robert Baratheon and the trial and execution of Lord Eddard Stark at the command, or more accurately the whim of the newly crowned Joffrey Baratheon. The Quiet Wolf's eldest son and heir Robb Stark had rallied and mustered his bannermen and levies and marched south from the North and had earned the epithet the Young Wolf after smashing a Lannister host led by the Kingslayer Ser Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard in the Riverlands and captured the Lion in chains. There were other claimants to the Iron Throne such as the Usurper's younger brothers, Stannis, and Renly Baratheon.

Renly didn't last long despite him having a vast number of soldiers and support from the Stormlands and the Tyrells on his side, but he'd been killed all the same in his own tent. There had been many rumours of how Renly had been assassinated, the most common and popular belief was that his newly appointed Kingsguard, Lady Brienne of Tarth had murdered him for rejecting her advances. With Renly dead, the Tyrells had retreated back to Highgarden in the Reach and the Stormlanders had merged with Stannis' host, making him by far the largest and strongest contender for the Iron Throne.

With the chaos that had been happening in Westeros, Varys had sent word to Aegon's mentor and father-figure, Lord Jon Connington, to join the Golden Company and have Aegon learn the life of a soldier. A couple of months of drilling and a few skirmishes later, Aegon had been learning what it meant to be a soldier. It was then Captain-General Myles 'Blackheart' Toyne had called for a squire's tourney, for a variety of reasons; one was to reveal Aegon to the Golden Company captains, the second being to give the squires in the Golden Company a chance to show off their skills and give them a chance to earn their spurs.

After being introduced to the Golden Company, Aegon had then taken part in the Tourney. He'd faced off against other squires, riding hard and sure, knocking a few off their horses. Some his lance broke off their shields earning him a point. His opponents had given as good as they got against him, and a few had come close to knocking him off his horse. But whether it was through luck or skill (Aegon liked to think it was skill), Aegon had prevailed and was now facing off the next squire, a pimply dark-skinned Dornish boy that rode a horse that was as foul tempered as him.

Aegon's charger snorted and pawed the ground with one hoof. It seemed like to charge before the herald could even sound his trumpet, and in all honesty, Aegon couldn't blame his steed for its eagerness. He'd have liked to charge out and meet his foe too instead of waiting. After a torturously long moment that felt like an hour rather than a minute, the herald blew his horn and Aegon hardly needed to kick his horse into a gallop for it did so as the horn was called. Setting his eyes firmly on his opponent, Aegon couched his lance, aiming for the chest. His opponent seemed to be aiming his lance at his head. As the lance neared Aegon's head, he twisted his head to the side, narrowly avoiding the round blunted tip of the lance and lunged forward with his own lance. The Dornish boy gave a strangled cry and fell off his horse as Aegon's lance smashed and shattered against his chest, knocking him backwards through the force and inertia.

The crowd of assembled knights, lords, ladies, magisters, and the like cheered wildly as Aegon raised his now shattered lance in triumph while a maester and a team of stretcher bearers carried the dazed and winded squire off the field to be treated.

The next two squires made their passes at each other, giving Aegon a chance to rest his charger. Ser Rolly Duckfield helped Aegon off his horse and helped him pull of his helmet. "You're doing well, lad. I've taught you well it seems," the shaggy-haired knight proclaimed proudly as he offered Aegon a skin of water.

"I like to think so, ser," Aegon replied with a smile, but then his smile faltered as he said, "My pardon, but for a moment when I'm tilting against the other squires, it almost feels like they're letting me win."

"How do you mean, my prince?" Rolly asked.

"I don't really know," Aegon replied. "It feels as though when I come nearer to them, their aim isn't quite as sure or they slow down as they ride closer," he said uncertainly.

"Perhaps you're seeing things," Rolly said easily. "I mean, you were revealed to everyone as the lost son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen," he added. "So, mayhap the other squires don't intend to harm you too much?" he offered.

"I'd rather they did intend to, Ser," Aegon said sternly. "How else will I win the respect of the Golden Company captains if the other squires go easy on me?"

"As you say, my prince," Rolly said with a nod of his head. "Anyway, best get your helmet back on and onto your horse. You're up against the last squire," he advised.

"Good," Aegon said with a nod of his head as he put his helm back on, fastening it before climbing back onto his charger. Flicking the reins, Aegon had his horse trot out and he picked up a tourney lance. He looked over at his opponent and spotted the three black castles on a field of orange on his shield. House Peake, Aegon thought vaguely, a house that had lost two of its castles in their numerous rebellions. Ages before during the Dance of Dragons, the patriarch of House Peake had tried to have his daughter wed to the then King Aegon III but had failed spectacularly to do so. A wry smirk passed over Aegon's lips under his helm as he thought of denying a house of rebels another victory.

Readying himself, Aegon waited for the sound of the horn and quickly enough, the trumpeting sound of the horn blew. With a kick, Aegon's steed charged into a gallop same as the Peake's did. Aegon and his opponent made numerous passes at each, breaking their lances off each other's shields. One pass, Aegon was nearly knocked off his horse, but he quickly caught himself and pulled himself upright in the saddle and grabbed another lance and charged again. Again, his lance broke off his opponent's shield, but the same was for the Peake squire.

Soon after, Lord Jon called it a to halt and bade them to present themselves and asked for Blackheart to make the final judgement. Aegon tried not to let his tiredness show as the Captain-General stared at him and Peake in a calculating manner, assessing them with hard eyes before speaking loudly for all who were present to hear his words.

"Both of these young men performed admirably. They've both shown great skill at lances and horsemanship. A true show of chivalry," he said slowly before adding, "But from what I'd seen with my own eyes, it was Prince Aegon who rode and couched his lance more skilfully throughout this tourney. Let it be known that the prince has won!"

The crowd cheered and clapped wildly. Aegon raised his helmet high and gave a beaming smile, elated that he'd won his first tourney. The Peake boy scowled and left the field, muttering curses under his breath.

"Prince Aegon. Approach, please," Lord Jon said, his face stern but proud. Aegon dismounted his horse and stood before his mentor. "Kneel." Aegon did so as Lord Jon drew his sword and spoke, "Aegon Targaryen, do you swear before the eyes of the gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to protect all women and children, to obey your captains, to fight bravely when needed and do other such tasks, no matter how hard or humble or dangerous they may be?"

Aegon looked up at Lord Jon and nodded his head. "I do, my lord," he said bravely.

Lord Jon then rested the tip of his sword on Aegon's right shoulder before moving it to his left and spoke the words. "In the name of the Warrior, I charge you to be brave. In the name of the Father, I charge you to be just. In the name of the Mother, I charge you to protect the young and innocent. In the name of the Maiden, I charge you to protect all women. In the name of the Smith, I charge you to be diligent. In the name of the Crone, I charge you to be wise and serve as a guiding force for all those who come after you. Arise, Ser Aegon Targaryen!"

Aegon rose to his feet and if he had thought the cheering before was loud, this was colossal. "A knight, a knight!" one woman cried out. One man shouted at the top of his lungs, "Ser Aegon Targaryen! The Conqueror Reborn!"

Myles Toyne stepped down from his seat as servants rushed forward, carrying a chest of cedar wood and polished copper. Myles bowed his head as the chest was opened.

"Blackfyre!" Aegon breathed out as he gazed upon what lay within. The fabled sword of Aegon the Conqueror and used by many Targaryen Kings until it was given away. The sword of kings and pretenders. It was beautiful; the blade was all Valyrian steel, dark and smoky, almost black in colour with ripples all along from there metal had been folded a thousand times over. A gleaming red faceted ruby was set in the pommel, beautifully and elegantly cut into a diamond shape while the hilt was fashioned out of smooth and polished dragonglass and the ends of the quillons were wrought into roaring dragon heads of cold black iron.

'The sword that was lost has now returned to its rightful owners' Aegon thought to himself. He smiled bowing his head in thanks before taking up the sword and was given an ebon wood and leather sheath for it and tied to it to his belt.

Lord Jon then spoke to Aegon in a whisper. "Well done, my prince." Although the exiled Lord of Griffin's Roost face was stern, his pale blue eyes shone with pride and joy.

"Thank you, Lord Jon. I won't let you down," Aegon whispered to him before turning to the crowd and raised his gauntleted hand high and everyone cheered.

Soon, a call for refreshments was announced and Jon said to Aegon, "You'd best get out of that armour for the feast now, boy. I'll see you there." Aegon nodded at this and headed into the camp where his tent would be, intent of taking off his armour and changing into something more suitable for the feast. As he neared his tent, Aegon spied dark cloud growing on the horizon.

"A storm? That's unfortunate," he muttered to himself as he entered his tent where he began to take off his armour and set it aside in a neat pile.

Some servants had drawn Aegon a bath, something he was grateful for. He had worked up quite a bit of sweat and dust in the tourney, so a hot bath was certainly a welcome sight. After spending almost an hour in the large wooden tub, scrubbing his skin until it was pink and raw, Aegon climbed out of the bath, dried himself off before dressing himself.

Dressing himself in black trousers, a lambswool shirt and leather jerkin and fine but plain leather boots, Aegon looked at himself in the looking glass. His reflection stared back at him with a small smile present on its lips.

"I'm a knight," Aegon murmured to himself before giving a chuckle. "Still can't believe it," he added before he looked at his sword, Blackfyre, propped up against the table. His smile widening, Aegon tied the sword onto his belt and looked at himself once again in the looking glass.

"Did the Conqueror ever feel this way?" Aegon asked himself. And then there came a rumble of thunder and wind began to blow. The tent flaps began to flap and ripple as wind blew into the tent.

"A storm? At this hour?" Aegon asked himself with a sigh of frustration as he prepared to exit his tent. Then there came a fizzing, hissing crackling sound and a strange scent hit Aegon's nose making it wrinkle as he tried to identify what the smell was. Then a burst of light filled the tent, blinding Aegon forcing him to cover his eyes with his hands and a shockwave knocked him to the ground. Fumbling for his sword, Aegon drew it out and uncovered his eyes to see a bizarre sight before him.

A young woman with golden-blonde hair and wearing a strange outfit of skin-tight blue material with patches of red on it. The young woman looked around with a gleeful almost manic smile on her lips. She then looked at Aegon with bright green eyes.

"Hi there!" she greeted in a loud chipper voice. Aegon could only gape at the strange woman and she then said to him, "This is where you say 'Hi' back."

"H-hi?" Aegon uttered in confusion, the strange word foreign to him.

"What country is this?" the strange woman asked. "Did I land in Middle-Earth or Narnia this time?" she babbled out.

"Middle-Earth? Narnia?" Aegon parroted those two words. "Wh-Who are you?" he asked in clear confusion.

"Name's Rose, but call me Fangirl," the blonde woman replied easily.

"Fan… girl?" Aegon wasn't sure what to make of this woman; she seemed quite mad and the way she appeared in that flash of light had him thinking witchcraft was involved. "What… are you? How did you get here in my tent?" he demanded trying to wrest control of the situation.

"I'm a woman, can't you tell?" Rose/Fangirl replied as though it were that simple. "And I got here by accident," she then said.

"Are you… a witch?" Aegon asked cautiously, wondering if Valyrian steel would be even capable of killing this strange woman.

"No. At least, I don't think so," Rose/Fangirl replied. "And you didn't answer my question before: where am I?" she asked.

"You're… You're in the Disputed Lands of Essos," Aegon said.

An excited starry-eyed look came over the woman's face as she squealed out, "I'M IN GAME OF THRONES?!" She gave a loud piercing squeal of excitement that had Aegon wincing at just how this woman could squeal. "Waitwaitwaitwait! Am I in the TV series, or the Books?" the woman then demanded. "Which character are you?!"

"You're… you're mad!" Aegon said.

"Hey! I resent that!" Rose glared. "Now tell which character you are, that way where I am," she said.

"I'm… Prince Aegon Targaryen, Sixth of his name," Aegon said uncertainly.

"Oooooh! You're that character! I guess I shoulda figured cuz of the hair and eyes," Rose said knowingly. "So, I'm obviously in the books, because the TV series doesn't have you in it," she added.

"Books? Tee-vee series? What in Seven Hells are you babbling about?!" Aegon demanded.

"Ah, I forgot, in my world you're a fictional character in a book series and there was a TV series based on the books," Rose replied rapidly. "The TV series is pretty popular, but they cut out some characters like you and Lord Jon Connington," she said.

"You… you are quite mad!" Aegon said with an air of finality. "And I want you out of my tent this instant!" he stated.

"Ah, so are you Aegon VI! I read the part in the books where you started ordering around Tyrion Lannister and his thoughts were that you were now acting like a Targaryen," Rose said excitedly. "Although there's some debate and speculation in the fan-forums if you're actually a Targaryen or a Blackfyre," she added as an afterthought.

Aegon prepared to open his mouth to call for some guard when a crack of thunder broke the sky and the wind howled. Rose looked around, a look of alarm on her face as she said, "Oh no! That isn't what I think it is, is it?"

"What is?" Aegon asked perplexed.

Rose didn't listen and ran out the tent and Aegon quickly followed after her. Rose stood outside and looked up at the sky, a look of fear in her green eyes. Aegon looked up to see a curious sight.

A large tear in the sky, red and weeping, like a fresh wound and a miasma of crimson mist floated through. Everyone who had attended the tourney all came out to look at this strange, wonderous sight.

"What is it?" one squire asked out loud.

"Is it R'hllor come to grace us with his presence?" a Red Priest asked.

Aegon shook his head, wondering what this all was and he looked at Rose who had a look of fear on her face. "What is this… thing?" he asked the woman.

"The Bleed," Rose replied fearfully. "A tear around the fabric of realities and between universes themselves!" she said. "We have to get out of here! Now!" she declared.

"Why? What's so bad about this?" Aegon asked.

"The Bleed corrupts anyone who is exposed to it! Worse is what comes through it!" Rose said as she grabbed Aegon by the arm and started to haul him down the line of tents at a run.

"What is it that will come through this… Bleed?" Aegon asked a little fearfully.

"The Sheeda!" Rose replied.

"Sheeda?" Aegon echoed.

"A race of fairies that have been corrupted by the Bleed," Rose explained. "They're hellbent on conquering any universes they find themselves in," she further added.

"How do I know you're not feeding me falsehoods?" Aegon challenged. "What's to stop me from running you through with my sword right now?" he asked.

"Look behind you then!" And Aegon turned around to look and he suddenly wished he hadn't. The red miasma that had floated down had people convulsing and screaming in pain. Then they started to change into hideous monsters and those that didn't turn were suddenly torn apart or carried off by cadres of small, winged creatures.

"What's happening to them?!" Aegon asked in fear.

"The Bleed is corrupting them! Turning them into monsters! Those that are lucky are being carried off by the Sheeda to turn into food or foot-soldiers for their armies," Rose replied.

"And we're to flee from them?!" Aegon demanded.

"Trust me, kiddo, ain't much you can do about this. We gotta run and we gotta run now!" Rose replied with a serious look on her face.

"Wait! What about Lord Jon? Duck? Haldon? Or Septa Lemore? I can't abandon them!" Aegon yelled desperately. Wrenching himself free of Rose's grip on his arm, Aegon drew Blackfyre and ran towards the crowd of monsters and fairy creatures.

A large unidentifiable monsters charged towards Aegon. Thrusting Blackfyre like a spear, Aegon impaled the creature through where he thought the heart might be. The creature howled in pain and the other monsters converged on Aegon who whispered a prayer to the Stranger, ready to go down fighting.

Then music filled the air, a strange melodious tune that was foreign to Aegon's ears.

"Let it go! Let it go! Turn my back and slam the door~!"

The monsters clutched their heads and screamed in pain the fairy creatures gave shrill shrieks and screeches of agony. Aegon turned and saw Rose running towards him with a small metallic object in her hand that was playing the music.

"What is that?" Aegon demanded, wanting to know the answer.

"Disney music," Rose replied matter-of-factly. "It can disrupt the energies of the Bleed and causes pain to those corrupted by it," she said. She then grabbed Aegon by the arm. "Now c'mon! We have to go!" she shouted.

"What about my friends?!" Aegon shouted.

"You're no good to them dead!" Rose stated coldly.

"Fuck!" Aegon cursed as he started to run with Rose. The music playing object in her hands stopped the miasma from reaching them and any monsters that tried to come close fell over in pain.

Aegon's lungs burned as he kept pace with Rose or tried to at least. Rose didn't seem too out of breath, and she reached for something inside a pocket in her suit and pulled out another metallic object that had a red gem in the centre. "Hold onto me! And don't let go!" she ordered Aegon who grabbed onto her. Pressing the red gem, the pair of were enveloped into a bright white light, but that moment, a swarm of the fairy creatures flew towards them and started to assail them. Aegon flailed his hand about in a bid to drive off the creatures but in doing so, he loosened his grip on Rose and suddenly he was falling through a void.

Aegon could only watch helplessly as his world was now dead & gone, and he fell through the all-consuming void of darkness. Falling through the cold empty void, Aegon felt tears pour from his eyes at the harshness of his fate and surrendered himself to the darkness.

It felt like hours as Aegon floated in the darkness. Had it been hours? He couldn't really say. Time seemed to have lost all meaning in this dreadful place. Aegon looked around but saw only darkness, he could not even see himself.

"Please, if there is anyone here, I don't want to remain here," he called out.

"And you shall not," a soft deep voice said to Aegon and a soft blue light blinked into existence. A silhouette of a tall man wearing a long blue cloak and a broad-brimmed cap on his head that concealed his eyes emerged from the light.

"Wh-Who are you?" Aegon asked cautiously.

"A friend," the mysterious phantom replied kindly. "I have seen the destruction of your world and I noticed that you were one of the few who have survived," it then said.

"Others have survived? Jon? Rolly? Lemore?" Aegon asked daring not to hope lest he be told the truth.

"Others have survived, but they are scattered," the stranger said cryptically. "I am tasked with bringing you to safety," it added as it offered a gloved hand to Aegon.

"Where is it you will be taking me?" Aegon asked warily.

"A world that nears its own destruction, but with you there, you could tip the scales," the phantom replied vaguely.

"What are you talking about? Speak plainly!" Aegon demanded.

"It is better for you to find out this way," the stranger said. "Unless you wish to stay here?" it asked.

Aegon looked around and he decided he really nothing left to lose and took the stranger's offered hand. A sudden sensation of vertigo and calm filled Aegon's mind and he felt his eyes grow heavy and he looked at his saviour and asked him, "Who are you?"

A ghost of a smile graced the phantom's lips as he said, "I am the Phantom Stranger. Good luck, Ser Aegon Targaryen."

And Aegon felt himself fall asleep and that was it.

In a different universe.

Emma Frost sprinted as fast as she could to where the battle against the Phoenix Force was taking place. All the while she cursed the Inner Circle for deceiving her and she cursed herself for being so foolish for believing Shaw that the intention was to destroy the Phoenix Force.

All those months ago, she had infiltrated the X-Men by offering to use her telepathy with access to Cerebro to find the missing members of the X-Men, including their mentor Charles Xavier. Xavier was currently in a coma, but telepathically contacted them from a dark future warning them that if they did not reunite to stop what was coming then all of mutant and humankind would driven to near extinction by the Sentinel menace.

The reason the X-Men had disbanded was because of Emma herself when she and the Inner Circle had tried to kidnap Jean Grey, the host of the Phoenix, and the first they did was to take out Xavier himself. But the Phoenix within Jean had reacted causing a massive explosion that had destroyed the Xavier Institute with Xavier and Jean going missing and disbanding of the X-Men.

But as the MRD (Mutant Registration Division) started arresting non-mutants for helping mutants, Logan AKA Wolverine had reunited the X-Men. Emma had shown up not long after trading her telepathy for a spot on the team and helped them find Charles.

After that it was a whirlwind of activity as the X-Men with help from Xavier sending them messages from the future fought against the MRD, Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants, clashing Mr Sinister and his Marauders, all the while trying to find Jean. And find Jean they did, but that was when Emma and the Inner Circle moved in to take Jean for themselves.

What happened next Emma would regret to the day she died. Although she had not said it out loud, she had become attached to the X-Men, finding a place among them and working with them, so it broke her heart a little that she had lied and betrayed them to capture Jean. But that was when she had though the Inner Circle's plan was to destroy the Phoenix. Emma felt shocked and betrayed when Shaw said that the plan was to use the Phoenix for their own ends. But Shaw and the Inner Circle had gravely miscalculated the raw power and untameable nature of the Phoenix. Once the Phoenix had been freed, it had turned on everyone and broke loose and was now laying waste to the world in search of its true host, Jean Grey.

It had been a desperate plea to Wolverine to cut her loose so that she could fix what was her mistake. Luckily for Emma, Wolverine had put aside his anger at her betrayal to free her and she was not going to miss this chance.

Sprinting as fast as she could, Emma passed the unconscious forms of the X-Men who had tried to fight the Phoenix Force, only to fail. Up ahead, Emma saw Scott Summer AKA Cyclops try to rescue Jean from being taken by the Phoenix.

Scott…

It was a bitter sting to the heart like salt poured over a fresh wound that Emma had lied to Scott and used him. And deep down it stung even more to see how Scott pined over Jean when she had been presumed missing or even dead. Emma had to privately admit that when she offered to erase Scott's memories of Jean when he had thought about quitting the X-Men due to affecting his performance that it was partly because of her own attraction to Scott that if she removed his memories of Jean, he would then take notice of her.

Emma could now see the Phoenix Force swooping down towards Cyclops who tried to fire another optic blast the cosmic entity in a bid to stop it, only to slammed by the cosmic flames of the entity and be sent skidding to the ground. Emma ran as fast as her legs could carry her just as the Phoenix made to take another divebomb at Scott.

Getting front of Scott, Emma stood before him protectively. The Phoenix's cosmic energies then flowed into Emma and the Stepford Cuckoos who had been made hosts were sent flying to the ground in unconscious heaps.

Emma gasped as she could feel the sheer power of the Phoenix inside struggled to get free. Shifting into her diamond form, Emma heard Scott's worried query.

"Emma?!" Emma looked at Scott and waved a hand at him.

"Get… Jean… out of here, Scott!" she ordered as she clutched her midriff at the sheer pain the Phoenix was inflicting on her. In her diamond form, Emma would normally not feel pain, nor have the need to eat, drink or even sleep. But the cosmic energies of the Phoenix were quickly proving to Emma that she could still feel pain in her diamond form. "I'm not sure how long I can contain it!" Emma then said.

"What are you gonna do?" Scott asked as he made to help Emma to her feet.

"Try… to release it!" Emma said through strained gasps of pain.

Scott made to walk towards when Logan got in his way pushing him back. "Summers! She knows what she's doing! Now let's go!" the Canadian mutant said to him as he pushed the man over to Jean who was watching helplessly.

Emma stood to her feet and to her horror, she could see large splintering cracks in her diamond form.

'This is it,' Emma thought to herself in her mind. 'My final atonement or my punishment for all that I've done in life'

"Emma!" Scott called out to her.

Emma looked at Scott one final time as the power of the Phoenix finally began to break her apart. In the quite literal sense as cracks that glowed with bright white light streaked across Emma's diamond form.

"Scott? Forgive me…" Emma said in a soft pleading voice before finally her world went blank as her diamond form shattered into hundreds of pieces and the Phoenix Force was sent into the upper atmosphere where it dissipated harmlessly having no host to attach itself to.

When Emma came to, she realised that she was in a white field that seemed to stretch on forever. Looking around, she remembered with a start what had just happened. The stabbing pains of the Phoenix Force breaking her body apart came back to Emma and she clutched her body in pain, falling to her knees, gasping and panting through the pain. Soon the pain subsided to more manageable levels and Emma shakily stood to her feet.

It was then Emma looked at her surroundings. She wondered if she was perhaps in the Astral Realm. Possible, given her powers of telepathy and the power of the Phoenix Force itself. But as she looked around, Emma was starting to think she had landed somewhere else.

Then a soft light shone before Emma and a dark silhouette stepped out from the golden light. And coming into view was a tall man wearing a long blue cloak and a fedora hat on his head concealing half his face and he then walked towards Emma. The blonde telepath then saw the glowing blue-white eyes underneath the hat of the man walking towards her.

"Greetings, Emma Frost," the man said in a calm soothing voice.

"Who-Who are you? Where am I?" Emma asked as she tried not to show any weakness.

"I am a friend," the man said in a calm voice. "As to where you are, you are currently in limbo."

"Limbo…? Am I… dead?" Emma asked in horror.

"You're dead, but not quite," the stranger said with a calm smile.

"So, can I go back then?" Emma asked hopefully.

"You could, but you are needed for something else," the phantom replied.

"If you're looking for sexual favours then I'm not interested," Emma said coldly.

"I have no need or desire for sexual favours," the stranger said with a dignified expression. "To tell the truth, your time on your world is over and I have watched you for some considerable time," he explained

"What do you mean my time on my world is over? Where is this even going?" Emma asked as she was in no mood for philosophical discussions.

"There are many worlds, many facets of reality. Some so similar you could spend a lifetime trying to find a single difference, yet others are so vastly different, one would say that they are in no way similar at all," the phantasm said as if ignoring Emma's queries. "I have seen many realities, and some are going headlong into danger, which is where you come in, Ms Frost," he added.

"What are you suggesting?" Emma asked cautiously.

"I have seen your history and your actions in your world," the phantasmal man said looking at Emma calmly. "The actions you took were of an evil nature, but ultimately in the end, you sacrificed yourself to save everyone. I have a hope that perhaps you may wish to atone for all that you've done in your life by helping to save another world that is in danger," he explained

"What kind of danger?" Emma asked warily, feeling unsure if she was ready to dive headfirst into another apocalyptic scenario.

"Another individual, from a different universe, much like you are, has witnessed the destruction of his own world. I have saved him from falling forever into darkness and put him on a path that will lead him to a crossroads. Although it is ultimately his own choice to make, perhaps you could help him decide what choices to make and perhaps atone for what you have done in your own world," the phantom offered

"And if I don't want to?" Emma said playing Devil's Advocate.

"Then you may remain here to contemplate your life choices," the ghostly being replied calmly and little windows appeared all around Emma and she realised that all the windows showed snippets of her life and the choices she had made. A crestfallen look came over Emma's face as she saw that many of the windows showed memories of all the less than respectable choices she had made and the harm that she done.

"What's the catch? What do you get out of this?" Emma then asked looking at the stranger who offered her what could be a devil's bargain.

The stranger gave a mysterious smile and replied, "The satisfaction of doing some good in the world."

Emma then thought about it and she looked at the windows of some of the worst moments in the history of her life. She could stay here and wallow in her guilt about everything she had done, or she could live again and perhaps make up for what she had done.

Emma looked at the Beyonder and nodded at him. "I accept your offer, Mr…?" she trailed off.

"I am called by many names, Ms Frost. To most, I am called the Phantom Stranger," the ghostly being replied.

Before Emma could even open her mouth to asked another question, the Phantom Stranger touched her on the shoulder and her world went black.

Krypton.

Loud explosions rocked the City of Argo. An enormous ball of burning fire descended from the sky shattering a statue. More fireballs rained down from the sky as the city's inhabitants began to flee in fear. Among those that were fleeing was a young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her name was Kara Zor-El.

Kara waited until the last person in the crowd had run on ahead of her, before she turned around and went the opposite way.

Smaller fireballs began to pound against the ground and one crashed near Kara who quickly crawled to hide behind some rubble. She then peeked her head out a little to see that standing in a crater was a grotesque looking creature that seemed a mixture of highly advanced technology and organic matter. A jawless skull with sunken eyes looked around scanning for nearby lifeforms.

Kara ducked her head and hid, hoping not to be spotted. But, that hope was dashed to pieces as the android had detected Kara's presence and advanced towards her position, but suddenly it fell to the ground a Kryptonian soldiers appeared and fire upon the robot with their weapons.

Then more androids dropped down from the sky. The soldiers tried to fight them off but were overwhelmed by the automatons. Kara then made a break for it, hoping to reach her destination. Kara then felt herself lurch forward as her foot clipped on the ground and she fell onto her chest as something blocked out the sun. Kara looked up to see a massive flying ship in the shape of a humanoid skull with numerous massive slithering tendrils coming from underneath it.

The skull ship then hovered over the nearby city. A bright blue light spewed from the opening of its mouth, covering the city in bright blue lights and in an instant it was gone.

Kara stared at the wreckage with horror in her eyes as the ship floated away as if nothing had happened. So shocked, the young woman did not notice the androids approaching her until she turned at the last minute to see them stretching out their hands towards her.

Then the sound of a Kryptonian energy rifle blared out and the androids fell to the ground, their heads blown off. Kara turned to see her mother Alura standing there armed with an energy rifle.

"Mother!" Kara exclaimed in relief.

"Kara! Come quickly!" Alura shouted to her daughter as she fired her rifle at the androids that kept approaching. Kara followed her mother into one of the buildings while her mother kept firing her weapon at the robots. Once they both inside the building, Kara slammed her palm on the locking mechanism and the door slid shut with a slam preventing the androids from getting inside. But Kara could hear the robots begin to slam on the door, trying to break it down.

"Stay with me, Kara. This way," Alura said to her daughter, leading her down a hallway.

"Mother? The ship? It just… Argo City is gone!" Kara exclaimed. "Millions of people!" she said as she tried to fight down the wave of grief that threatened to overcome her.

"That's only the beginning," Alura said grimly in response. "Brainiac has disabled the planet's core. Krypton's not going to hold together for much longer," she added.

"But all your research, isn't there something you can do?" Kara asked desperately as Alura unlocked the door to her lab.

"That's why we're here" Alura said to her daughter as she revealed what she and her husband Zor-El had been working on. Kara saw a small ship, big enough for perhaps one person.

"A ship? This is what you've been working on?" Kara asked in bewilderment.

"Your uncle Jor-El discovered a planet that can sustain Kryptonian life, far away from Brainiac," Alura said as she punched in the co-ordinates into her computer. "He's built a ship just like this, for your cousin Kal-El," she added.

"Kal? He's just a baby!" Kara protested.

"Which is why you'll be going with him, to protect him," Alura replied. "You will look after him and teach him our ways," she said to her daughter.

"Me teach him? What about you?" Kara asked before she realised what her mother truly meant by those words. "No… no! I won't leave you! Please! Please don't make me!" she begged.

Tears pricked Alura's eyes as she tried to remain strong for her daughter's sake as she said, "I can't come with you. But you'll never be alone. You belong to the house of El, Kara. A House of Hope. Never forget that." Alura then hugged her daughter one final time and told her, "Never give up hope."

Then the sound of the doors being broken were heard. Acting quickly, Alura led Kara into the ship, "Get in!" she urged.

Kara hurriedly got inside the craft and it closed itself, sealing her inside as Alura began to start the launch sequence. The rocket then began to hum and roar to life as its jets began to ignite. Kara looked to see the robots attack her mother and killed her.

"NO!" Kara cried out desperately, trying to find some way to open the rocket, but to no avail as the rocket then rocketed off into the sky towards space. Kara looked out the window to see another rocket flying beside her. Kal's rocket, Kara thought as she saw the sleeping infant inside. Kara knew she had to protect Kal and do as her mother asked her to. Kara then looked to see Krypton explode and the shockwaves rattled both Kara and Kal's ships.

"Hold on, Kara. Just hold on," Kara whispered to herself.

Then two gigantic chunks of debris struck her ship and sent her spiralling off course and Kara's eyes widened in horror. "Kal! No! No!" she screamed then the cryo-stasis began to engage and try as she might, Kara could fight the sudden feeling of lethargy overcome her and her world went black.

On one of the moons of Krypton, a stranger clad in blue robes and a broad brimmed hat on his hat watched the events unfold with an air of sad acceptance and he whispered, "And so it begins…"

Aegon awoke with a pained groan, his eyes slowly opening as he heard the sound of voices speaking.

"Hey, looks like one of them is waking up!"

Aegon then tried to pick himself when a pair of strong arms lifted him up easily. "Hey, it's okay there, kid. You're alright. You're safe," a man's voice said reassuringly. A brief chuckle as the voice said, "You were out of it for a while, you know?"

As Aegon's vision cleared, he saw a handsome man with golden-blonde hair and blue eyes smiling at him.

"Where… am I? Who are you, ser?" Aegon asked weakly as he began to look around.

"Name's Barry Allen and you're at the Luthor-Wayne Climate Research Station," the man said to him with a smile.

Barry then helped Aegon over to a nearby chair and said to him, "So, what's your name? How did you get here?"

"My… my name is Aegon VI Targaryen, recently knighted," Aegon as he looked at his new surroundings. Everything seemed so… pristine and clean, as well as foreign in make and design. Some other men and women, all dressed in white coats watched him warily.

Barry looked at Aegon and said, "Aegon Targaryen? As in Game of Thrones and a Song of Ice & Fire?"

Aegon looked at the man and asked, "What are you talking about?"

"The TV series and the books?" Barry said and Aegon gave him a blank look. "How did you get here? What do you remember doing?" he then asked as he knelt down in front of Aegon.

"I had won my first tourney that the Golden Company had put on," Aegon said as he wracked his memory. "I had just finished washing up when this… strange woman appeared in my tent. She was… bizarre to put it lightly, she babbled some nonsense about a Tee-vee series and books, but I didn't know what she was talking about."

One of the women came forward and spoke to Barry, "Barry? Do you think this kid is…?" she trailed off.

"I'm not sure," Barry said to her. He then looked at Aegon and added, "But I get the feeling this kid isn't lying."

Aegon then noticed that his sword was missing and he asked, "Where is my sword?"

"Just here," Barry said pointing over to a nearby table. "Would I be right in guessing that your sword is made of Valyrian steel?" he asked.

"Aye. It's the sword of my ancestor, Aegon the Conqueror's Blackfyre," Aegon replied.

"That's Blackfyre?" Barry raised an eyebrow in surprise. "I guess I shouldn't be too surprised," he said with a chuckle before asking, "So, this strange woman appeared in your tent. What happened next?"

"Then something happened, the woman was scared, said something called the Bleed had come through," Aegon recounted. "And she said that something came from the Bleed as well, The Shee-Dah or something like that," he said.

"Sheeda? Never heard of them," Barry muttered. "What else?" he prompted Aegon.

"The Sheeda attacked and started carrying off people. I wanted to stay and fight, but the woman, Rose I think her name was, grabbed me and then suddenly I was falling into darkness," Aegon said. "Then this strange man appeared before me, said something about bringing me to a world where I could tip the scales," he added.

"This strange man, describe him for me," Barry said.

"He wore a long blue cloak and a cap on his head," Aegon replied. "That's about all I can describe of him," he said ashamedly.

Barry looked at Aegon for a long moment before saying, "Well, you're either a really good actor doing some serious method actor stuff, or you're telling the truth," he said. "Do you recognise her?" he asked Aegon pointing to a bed where an unconscious woman with ash blonde hair and clad in white clothes lay.

"I don't know that might be," Aegon said truthfully. "Perhaps we ought to wake her?" he suggested.

"Might be," Barry said in agreement as he walked over to the bed and gently shook the woman awake. "Hey, wakey-wakey. Are you okay?" he asked kindly.

The woman then awoke with a groan of malcontent and sat up, her eyes an icy blue colour and something approaching a disdainful look on her beautiful face as she asked, "Who are you? Where am I?"

Barry introduced himself to the woman and asked her name. "Emma Frost," the woman said in response, she then looked at Barry intensely and her eyes widened and stated, "I'm in another universe it appears."

"How did you…?" Barry tried to ask when Emma cut him off.

"I'm a telepath," she said matter-of-factly and she then noticed Aegon staring at her. She stared for a moment and added, "You're from another universe as well."

"How…?" Aegon was flabbergasted at this Emma could discern that when he had not said anything.

"I'm a telepath. I can read minds," Emma said haughtily. "Seems we're both in the same boat," she added dryly and her expression softened as she said to Aegon, "I'm sorry to learn what happened to you."

"Umm… thank you…" Aegon mumbled.

Emma then rose to her feet, smoothing down her clothes and said, "Now. I'd like an explanation as where I am." She looked at Barry and added, "I trust you'll provide me with answers?"

"Couldn't you just read my mind for that?" Barry said sardonically.

"I could, but since my Mr, Ser, Aegon is in the same boat as I, I feel like he could be brought up to speed as well," Emma said primly.

"Well, c'mon. Let's get you both something to eat," Barry then said to Aegon and Emma. "Don't wanna do this on an empty stomach," he added knowingly.

"I do feel a little hungry," Aegon said as he rose from his chair and he and Emma followed Barry down the hallway to get some food and some answers.

TO BE CONTINUED…

A/N: There! First chapter of this is done and dusted. Just thought I'd give this a tryout since my first attempt at writing an Injustice/GoT crossover didn't really pick up like I hoped it would, plus I was inspired by Spiderfan626's Kingdom Hearts/Injustice 2 crossover to do this. Now, before anyone jumps to conclusions, I did get permission from Spiderfan626 to use elements of his crossover for mine, but mine will be different from his as Aegon clearly doesn't have the power of Disney on his side LOL.

Now, Aegon will be getting powers of his own in the next couple of chapters and I've got a few options in mind. Back when I had my first Injustice/GoT crossover I had set up a poll of what kind of power Aegon should have and from what I can remember, the Power of the Black Knight was the most popular choice, so I think I'll go with that. Although how Aegon will get such a power will tie into one or two DC characters that have featured as DLC/Comic characters for the Injustice series.

And doubtlessly, you'll have noticed that Emma Frost from Marvel's Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon series is also in this story and I have some plans as to how she can affect the Injustice universe and even form an attachment to Aegon due to being in the same boat as him, plus I have the idea of a telepathic battle between her and Gorilla Grodd in this story so keep an eye out for that battle.

This story will also crossover with Mortal Kombat and even bring in some MK characters, both canon and DLC such as the Terminator, Robocop, Jason Voorhees, etc. so be prepared for that when it happens.

And that's about all I have right this minute, so I'll leave this here and I'll see you all in the next one.

Be kind to one another,

Angry lil' elf.
