Rolling Thunder

Chapter One

Admiral Harriett Nelson inside his office was very proud of the new submarine that the construction crews had finished up at the yards. He and Commander Lee Crane in charge of the Nelson Institute had named the 90th man personnel Rolling Thunder.

While the Seaview and another were on training tests out into the Pacific. The Rolling Thunder with its Captain Jake Morrison age 54 years old has transferred from the Cat's Meow naval destroyer leaving the Navy after 15 years to work as a private commander of the Rolling Thunder.

His wife Susan had been working as a communications officer at the Northfork, Virginia naval base for 12 years as a supervisor. Mostly she was glad in a way for the change in their lifestyles while their two sons were in the Airforce as pilots down in Atlantic, Georgia.

Nelson had taken a sip of his drink in order to wait for Crane to come back from the shipping yards. Tests were beginning to be starting within a few weeks. Now that the nuclear submarine was ready to be starting the tests with the crew of 90.

In front of him was the complete list of the crew roster. There was one change with Patterson to be joining the crew with his girlfriend to be staying behind for now. He thought it was best to go to the Rolling Thunder for now. Even though he's going to be staying in contact with his friends from the Seaview mostly Kowalski.

Patterson had been asked by Commander Lee Crane whether or not it will be feasible for him to work for the next few months making sure that the engineering department will be up to speed during and after the tests.

Nelson had gotten up from his seat in order to stretch his muscles for the moment. It was at this particular time when there was a knock on his door when Angie walked in with lunch. He had asked her to do this favor since he was going to be stuck in his office.

"Sir, I have what is needed in regard to the lunch order. I will be happy to sit with you during the lunch before I start with the deposition for ONI and the Naval department." she alluded to say to him.

"Of course! I am just waiting to hear from Lee on whether or not the Rolling Thunder is up to specs." Nelson advised his long-time secretary.

She will place the food onto the desk by removing the Turkey club sandwiches, chips, pickles, and coffees. Though Doctor Anthony Sterling having taken over for Doctor Will Jamieson after many years as the Chief Medical Officer will be getting on his case about the caffeine at his age.

"Admiral, from my understanding, is the fact that the engineers were sure that all was in order with all of the departments including engineering and the reactor room?" she paused briefly for the moment in order to wait for his response.

"They are sure Angie. I just need the official report from Commander Crane in order to send it to ONI and other agencies to get the ball rolling. All of the personnel are on standby with Captain Jake Morrison to be here as well within the hour to go over some of the rosters. He's very anxious to get started with his promotion as the Commander of the Rolling Thunder." Nelson tells her with a slight cough in his throat.

"By the way, Harriman did you get a chance to advise Darien about the Rolling Thunder?" she asked calmly whenever she mentions the alien's name.

Nelson was taking a sip of his hot black coffee to get rid of the cough in his throat for now. He had looked up to say. "He's gone back to his home planet to be with his family. I was able to leave a report with the main ambassador for the United Nations and the Earth's alliance. I was told that Darien was going to be back in two weeks at least." he was pensive for the moment when it comes to Darien having to be gone from Earth with the latest happenings in Ukraine." Nelson preceded to say.

"But didn't Darien say months ago to let them continue even though if they resorted to using nuclear weapons he will then will have to stop them entirely to be sanctioned further with all of their arsenals to be destroyed by his own people?" Nelson croaks out with his response.

"Yes, he did to a certain extent of the laws for the Alliance," Nelson said with sympathy.

She exhaled..." Meaning that there was a possible chance that Darien and his own race might decide once again to destroy Earth?" she alluded with her comment.

His emotions will blow at this particular for when Angie had said about Darien to blow up Earth. "No doubt he will Angie, though now that he's a part now of Earth for when it comes to the importance of the Alliance. However, right now I have more important things to worry about with getting the Rolling Thunder moving." he cried out.

"And what about the Seaview and the other one, sir?" Angie was biting into her Turkey club sandwich for the moment.

Looking up at Angie with his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Both are fine Angie with Captain Morton having contacted me early this morning via the communications center letting me know that everything was fine, as with Captain Danny Williams." he retorted with the phone ringing in his office as Angie will have the honors to answer it.

"Admiral Nelson's main office this is Angie. What can I do for you, Sergeant?" she calmly says listening to the young officer at the front gate.

"Captain Jake Morrison is on his way to Admiral Nelson's office," he tells her with a slight smirk that she isn't able to see.

"Thanks, I will inform Admiral Nelson of this face, Sergeant." she will hang up the phone to have Nelson get himself ready for the meeting. Even though he wasn't exactly hungry anymore.

"Do me a favor and take all this out of here Angie while you're able to finish yours in the outer office?" his tone was sharp and very serious for the moment.

"Of course, Admiral Nelson." she will transport the items onto a small rolling table to move out of the office while her boss will have his briefing with Captain Jake Morrison.
