Hey everybody, this is my first fanfiction. Ever since I saw Scooby-Doo Meets Courage The Cowardly Dog trailer, I been wondering, what would be like if Scooby and Shaggy (just being by themselves, like they did with Scrappy-Doo) met Courage during the original series, and what if Muriel and Eustace's were Shaggy's aunt and uncle? And That is were this story is born!
Now this is the first time I'm righting a fanfic, so please keep in mind that I'm probably not the best writer, but I'll do my best. So please enjoy.
Chapter 1: Night at The Katz Motel (4/27/22 reedited)
In the middle of a thunderstorm, an old truck filled with suitcases rattled down the highway in Nowhere, Kansas, it's five occupants three in the front and two in the back. The old man driving was Eustace Bagge, The old woman sitting next to him was his wife Muriel, The shaking dog on her lap was Courage, their pet dog. In the Back there was a teenager Shaggy Rogers, and his Great Dane Scooby-Doo
Shaggy and Scooby, were both taking a break from solving mysteries with the gang, and thought they could visit Shaggy's aunt for the summer. Muriel happily let them stay, Eustace was less than thrilled about having another dog in the house. And Courage, nervous at first but quickly bond with the two, as he can related to being cowards and all that.
A couple of miles down the road, the motel finally came into sight and they pulled into it. It looked like your generic, run of the mill motel that you see all along the highway. Nothing too out of the ordinary and looked normal to the family. At the very least it was a place to sleep for the night. Shaggy, upon seeing a sign that said, 'KATZ MOTEL: NO VACANCY,' the word "NO" flickering, turned off the road and into the parking lot of the small, lonely motel.
Eustace took one look at the place and said, "This looks like a crummy place to end a crummy vacation."
"Like man, why does that Motel give me creeps?" Shaggy asked with a shudder.
Scooby agreed with an uneasy frown and whimpered, as he looked at the motel, it didn't look friendly at all.
Scooby and Shaggy weren't not the only ones scared, Courage's teeth were chattering in fear as he looked around anxiously, the storm was frightening him and he was shivering up a storm on Muriel's lap.
Suddenly a loud roll of thunder was heard and lightning suddenly crashed.
The lighting made Shaggy shriek "ZOINKS!"
Scooby jumped into Shaggy's arms with teeth chattering, with heavy breathing.
The thunder caused Courage to howl in fear, his fur standing on end. He then jumped out of Muriel's lap with a small cloud of dust, and grabbed onto Eustace around the neck, blabbering gibberish in fright, while Eustace is angrily frowning straight ahead.
Eustace ignored the dog, and got out of the truck with Muriel, Shaggy and Scooby making their way to the main building to check in for the night. Scooby kept his ears prickled for any unusual sounds, every hair on his fur stood on end. This place look eerily and not a normal looking motel he was use to.
Upon entering the building, a bell rang, signaling the manager that customers had arrived. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage could see that it was pretty barren, only having a single chair next to a leafless plant, a few posters tacked on the yellow wallpaper. The front counter had a brass bell to ring for service and a book for travelers to sign in. Behind the counter was a brown slanted door with the word "Private" on it in red letters.
Eustace rang the bell a few times, Courage is still on Eustace shaking with fright, as he ring the bell three times with a scowl still on his face. Muriel just looks at the bell, while Scooby and Shaggy nervously looked around. Despite that the lights that were on, this place has an unsettling darkened feel to it, this motel looked old and it looked like it was decaying a little.
A humanoid red cat appears behind the counter in front of the book. "Welcome to the Katz Motel," the cat said with a British accent as he looked down at his book. "I'm Katz. Would you please sign in?"
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage exchanged an unnerved glance as Katz looked to them expectantly, this cat made to trio feel a little uneasy for some unknown reason. There was something about that manager cat that they didn't trust.
His eyes then suddenly landed on Scooby and Courage and with a look of anger, he snapped his fingers and pointed to something up on the wall. They all turned their heads to look and saw a sign that read, 'No Dogs Allowed.'
"No dogs allowed," Katz sternly stated.
"Rog? Rhere?" Scooby asked as he looked around, confused of what the red cat meant.
Courage put his paws to his head and shook it from side to side as he was held by the farmer, saying, "But-but," before he whined and put his head over his shoulder as he carried him outside, Muriel holding her hand to her mouth in surprise, her other hand clutching her purse.
"Oh my," she said with a thick Scottish accent.
"Are you sure I can't bring Scooby in? He's just like a person. Really he is!" Shaggy argued, he couldn't believe the unfairness, when he and the Mystery gang go to motels or hotels, they always allowed Scooby in. So why can't he and Courage stay in for the night?
Katz didn't bat an eye and said, "I'm sorry dear boy, I just don't want the other guests to be disturbed in the middle of the night."
Scooby and Shaggy pouted, they had no choice but to obey the red cat's orders. They sadly slowly walked back outside.
When Eustace went outside, Courage was still whining and blubbering while lightning was still streaking across the sky. He went over to a support beam outside another room, and pulled him off his neck with relative ease, setting him on the ground as he grabbed his collar and leash. He put the collar on and quickly yet securely tied the leash onto the beam, causing him to droop in sadness.
Courage really hated being lonely, he really wanted Muriel right now but she wouldn't understand his fears. Part of him wanted to talk to Shaggy and Scooby about his worries, but he really isn't in a mood right now. Shaggy and Scooby arrived outside, Shaggy frowned with sympathy. Hating to see this little sweet pink dog reduced to such sorrow. Scooby approached to the small beagle, nudged him with his head and let out a sympathetic whine, he really hated to see the little guy so sad.
"KABOOOOOOOO!" Eustace suddenly cried, waving his arms. This caused Courage to jump into the air, waving his limbs as her fur stuck straight out, he leaped into Scooby arms, while Shaggy clutched the two dogs tight. Their teeth started chattering in fear.
Eustace started to laugh at their cowardice, but was then hit in the head by Muriel with her purse, which she held in her right hand while she held two old blankets in her left arm and their room key in her hand.
"OOOH! What did I do!?" he asked her as he turned to her, rubbing his sore head. He muttered to himself as he snatched the key out of her hand and marched to the room, "Gnnnnargh those dogs."
Muriel walked over to the two dogs and bent down, wrapping the blankets around him as she spoke. "Ah Courage, don't worry. It'll only be for a short time besides Scooby will be with you," she said as she stood back up, Courage and Scooby are still a bit glum at having to sleep outside. She then kissed their heads.
"Goodnight Courage, Goodnight Scooby," Muriel wished, as she walked away into the motel.
"Maybe a goodnight to you. You'll be in a warm bed," Courage replied sadly.
"It's just one night, Scooby-Doo. I'll see you in the morning, buddy," Shaggy said, encouragingly.
"RI hope so," Scooby said, wishing he and Courage didn't have to sleep outside tonight.
The two cried and hugged each other, making Courage feeling sympathy for the two, he didn't like to be way from his owner either. Muriel came up to her great nephew and give a sympathetic pat on the back. "Don't worry dear, Scooby will be alright. He's got Courage."
"Do you like think they'll be okay?" Shaggy asked concern, worry about the two being out all night, especially since this motel was giving him the creeps.
"I'm sure they'll be fine my dear. Come along let's get you into bed," Muriel said, as she guide the teen away from the two dogs, and Shaggy sadly wave bye to Scooby and Courage, while Scooby and Courage wave sadly at him back.
That night as Shaggy lie down on his motel bed, the cowardly teen felt incredibly tired, but something was keeping him awake… He tried to settle himself in, despite his efforts, he could not fall asleep. He was restless completely and utterly restless. It seemed every time he closed his eyes, he would get this awful feeling that someone was watching him from someplace unseen.
The thought of Courage and Scooby outside kept gnawing at his mind. He lay staring into the empty darkness, trying his best to think about something, anything really, to take his mind off it-but nothing seemed to work.. not even thinking about food. His mind filling with images of all sorts of unimaginable things on the other side of the door waiting to spring on him. He opened his eyes back up for what felt like the millionth time. He could not let go of his irrational fear of someone would come bursting into the door at any moment.
That's crazy! he told himself, trying to get the thought out of his head. He let his eyes wander across the room, expecting to see something horrible grabbing him and do who knows what.
He couldn't take it anymore, he needed company to get through the night he wanted...NO, needed his friends. That's it. Like I'm sneaking Scooby and the little pink dude in. I like don't care if it is against the rules. There is like no way I'm letting my best pal in the whole world and that small dog sleeping outside.
As he got out of bed, and grabbed a flashlight from the nightstand that was next to his bed he felt as though he as being watched. Shaggy hope it was just his imagination. The cowardly teen tried to move himself forward. He really REALLY didn't want to do this though. He inch forward, his heart pounding a mile a minute. Only the thoughts of Scooby and Courage both by themselves kept Shaggy moving forward. He took deep breaths and went out the room. Unbeknownst to him he was being watch by Katz by looking through the panting above the bed.
Back outside, Courage and Scooby are shivering badly. Not from the cold air, thanks to the blankets that Muriel had draped around them, but from the fact that the place was still giving them the creeps. Courage wanted nothing more than to fall asleep or simply wait until morning came because he highly doubted that sleep would be happening in this place. Scooby huddled against Courage, trying to keep him warm, he wanted Shaggy and go back to the farm.
Scooby turned his gaze towards Courage and noticing he was shivering a bit, "Rare you cold?"
"A little, but I'm fine," Courage reassured the Great Dane, then he was looking straight head.
"Rhat's wrong?" Scooby asked.
"I'm worried about Muriel and Shaggy. I hope they're alright," Courage lamented softly with a sigh.
"Re too," Scooby agreed with a nod. "Rut I'm sure they'll be okay," he wasn't sure if he believe his own words, but at least it might help ease Courage's worries.
"I hope so, Scooby," Courage murmured with a light sigh.
"Till then, we gotta rough it out here…" Scooby groaned.
The dogs heard the sound of footsteps approaching them from nearby, making the dog duo silent to listen the imitating footsteps.
"W-Who's there?" Courage whimpered.
The duo turned their heads in the direction that they were coming from and saw a shadow standing at the corner of the deck. A shadow shaped a lot alike the manager of this creepy establishment.
"R-R-Raggy?" Scooby stammered, in fright, hoping to was just his best friend
The appearance of the shadow terrified the duo as Courage gasped and his eyes began to bug out. Scooby stood back huddling in the blanket. From around the corner wall came the manager's arm as he set a box down on the deck and then opened the front of the box before backing away. The duo couldn't help but shiver even harder, whimper and clang onto each other. Their worst fears were confirmed and their eyes widened with horror when a big red SPIDER skittered out of the box towards them.
Courage and Scooby screamed and howled at the horrific sight of the arachnid skittering towards them.
"RPIDER!" Scooby shrieked.
"Come on! Come on!" Courage begged as he kept pulling on the leash.
To Scooby's horror, Courage still couldn't move from this spot because of his leash being tied to the post of the deck. He tugged on the leash as hard as he could, but couldn't get it loose. The spider kept on coming.
"Run Scooby! Save yourself!" Courage shouted to him.
"Ruh-uh. Ro-way!" Scooby protested.
"Okay. Just stand back!"
The next thing Courage tried was blowtorching the leash, but to his shock and surprise the leash was still unharmed. So he tried using a chainsaw, nothing. A chemical explosive? Nothing.
The spider was getting closer and closer and Courage was no closer to getting himself free from the leash.
"Rourage, hurry!" Scooby cried, frightened that Courage was gonna be spider-chow. Re gotta get outta here!
So Courage went with the only option he had left. He began gnawing on the leash like a wild animal. "Come on, Come on," he grunted
Scooby then begin to tugged at the leash. "Rold…on!" Scooby grunted, tugging at the leash with all of his might, determined to save his friend.
And then the leash snapped. Courage and Scooby sat surprised for a second before Courage hollering, "Yay!"
"Ret's get out of here!" Scooby cried out.
And the duo run off right as the spider reached the spot and stopped there in aggravation.
The hallway was pitch black, aside from the flashlight he has in his hand illuminating the floors and walls around him. Shaggy walked down the hall, he felt like he was being stalked His heart started to pound like a hammer, as what he could assume heavy footsteps. "Guys?" his voice squeaked out, "Aunt Muriel, Uncle Eustace..little dog dude?..Scooby?" He waited a moment in the silence, hoping for a response. He repeated himself, saying it louder this time-and waited. His heart was a hummingbird, beating without any intention of stopping and he wonder if it would explode from the inside out.
Nothing. Shaggy gulped, eyes widen with terror, he hope this was just his family...maybe...hopefully? Unbeknownst to him, a certain red cat stalked up behind him. A red paw clamped over Shaggy's mouth while another arm wrapped around his waist, making him lose his grip and dropped the flashlight. Shaggy tried screaming but it came out muffled, his heart was racing even faster then it did earlier, he wave his hands, desperately trying to call for help. He was then dragged into the darkness.
Scooby and Courage moved silently through the halls, searching for the room which their owners had gone into. Scooby whined, as he looked around the dark way, this motel was giving him an uneasy feeling, Courage also felt the same way.
"RI hope Raggy and Ruriel are okay," Scooby commented, trying to calm himself down.
"Yeah," Courage nodded, trying to keep calm and not have a panic attack. "Me too."
Suddenly a familiar scream was heard by the two dogs, as they looked towards a door, that leads to a room.
"It's Muriel. She's in trouble," Courage said, with urgency.
The duo ran towards the door and try to open it, but it was locked.
"Muriel/Ruriel!" Courage and Scooby shouted as they banged on the door. When this failed, Courage rushed off but quickly returned with a cannon.
"Better put this on," he said as he gave Scooby a helmet.
After putting on their helmets, they crawled into the cannon
"RI hope this works," Scooby said.
"Me too," Courage replied.
Courage shot himself and Scooby into the room through the window. They could see Muriel in the bathroom, and trembled violently as they saw the old woman actually managing to hold off the spider.
Muriel saw the two dogs and yelled, "COURAGE! SCOOBY! GO AND GET HELP! HURRY!"
"Ruh-Roh!" Scooby exclaimed in horror, as they now had to deal with more spiders.
In a panic, he and Courage jumped onto Eustace's bed, trying desperately to wake the old man up.
"WAKE UP!/RAKE UP!" they screamed as they jumped on the bed. Eustace didn't even stir. They tried loud music from a bunch of trumpets. But it still didn't work. They tried banging a box on him and still he didn't wake up.
"Ree, Rustace is sure is a heavy sleeper," Scooby commented.
Courage howled in disbelief, as he and Scooby heard Muriel scream again. They goes into the bathroom, while Eustace just snores.
"Courage, Scooby, did you get any help?!" Muriel asked, as she holds the spider away with her toes.
While this was going on, Eustace's bed flipped around and he disappeared into the floor. Scooby and Courage returned to find him missing and the means of salvation gone. Courage screamed as the situation was growing more dire.
"The farmer is gone!" Courage screeched, his eyes widened with alarm.
"Row what!?" Scooby, cried in dismay.
"COURAGE! SCOOBY! GO FIND SHAGGY! MAKE SURE HE'S OKAY! SEE IF HE CAN HELP!" Muriel shouted from the bathroom.
Courage and Scooby did just that and ran from the motel room, running as fast as they could towards Shaggy's room. Scooby, was praying that his best pal is okay. Thankfully his room door was easier to open than Eustace and Muriel's and they're able to get in no problem.
"Raggy? Raggy?" Scooby called, pleading that he'll answer.
"Shaggy are you here!?" Courage shouted, hoping he was alright too.
They found his suitcase on the floor, but there was no sign of Shaggy anywhere. A horrible sense of fear rolled through Scooby and Courage and was quickly turning into all out terror.
"Raggy!? Raggy!? Rare you okay!?" Scooby cried, getting worried by the second.
"Shaggy, please answer us!" Courage cried, feeling his heart pounding in his chest.
He and Courage looked around frantically, but saw no other signs of him in the room, making their hearts dropped.
"RHERE'S MY RAGGY!?" Scooby cried in terror, now really anxious of what's happening to his owner right now.
Shaggy tugged at the sticky strands that were holding him off of the ground, his arms and legs were now tangled in the strange material, his body being suspended and kept aloft by the sticky mesh.
"Like, what is this?" Shaggy squeaked out.
All around Shaggy was darkness, the lights suddenly came to life and revealed the rest the room.
Shaggy was finally able to see what room he was in…he wished he hadn't… Shaggy's eyes went wide and let out a choking cry.
He was so stunned by the scene around her that he could not scream. The room was covered in a sprawling network of spider webs, and Shaggy was caught right in the thick of them. But that, unfortunately for him was the least of his fears… Because there was bones on the ground. LITERAL. HUMAN. BONES. And it make matters worse, his uncle was wrapped in webs sitting in the middle of it.
That's when it dawned on Shaggy this wasn't just an ordinary net all. Shaggy had become trapped in a spider web, A HUGE SPIDER WEB. Everything around him look like something out of a horror movie.
"Un-Un-Uncle Eustace? HELP!" Shaggy whimpered and cried out, starting to pull and pry at the web, struggling and fighting against the bindings that held him.
The wet, sticky bindings around Shaggy's frame held fast keeping him trapped in place. The more he seemed to fight against the web, the more entangled he became in the thick mesh.
After a few minutes, he could hear the sound of footsteps approaching. These were followed by a clicking and jingling sound from the door. It opened and in stepped the manager that Shaggy had seen earlier, a box was tucked under his arm.
"Like you?" he gasped out, he was now breathing heavily and starting to panic.
Katz stood at the door before him and said, "Good evening and how are you enjoying your stay at the Katz Motel?"
Shaggy fearfully looked up at his captor. "Wh-What are you doing? Why are you doing this?"
Katz hummed to himself before responding, "It's not what I'm going to do, but what my loves are going to do. They need to eat, and humans are their favorite food."
With that, he walked back over to the box. Shaggy, nervously followed his movements and it was here now that he noticed that the box itself was shaking. His heartbeat started to beat faster, as he begin to breath in heavily.
He watched as he opened the box and pulled something out. Something alive and feisty. He turned back to him and Shaggy could see that he was holding a large orange spider. It took one look at Shaggy and it began to go wild with a ravenous appetite. It's maw snapping and drool running from it's mouth.
Shaggy began to thrash wildly again, hoping his limbs would serve to get him out, but there was no such luck. His arms stuck yet again to the web, and soon became even more entangled than before. Nervous laughter drifting out of his mouth, "Can't you like feed them something else? I'm really don't taste that good, and like I'm skin and bones."
Katz chuckled, "Oh, you silly boy, there isn't enough nutrients in bugs for them so I give them a much bigger meal. In this case, you."
Shaggy was now in full panic mode. He was starting to hyperventilate. His mind raced as he tried to reason with the crazy cat. "Please, I don't wanna be eaten! Li-Like pl-please n-no!"
"It's nothing personal, boy, it's just business. Now…" the cat grew a sly grin, before sinisterly commanding, "Succumb to him." He laughed evilly as he brought the spider down towards Shaggy's feet.
Shaggy looked down to see as the spider had descended upon him, and was now tugging at his, yanking them together and slowly weaving a sticky sheet of silk around her feet to seal them. Shaggy's eyes went wide. With nowhere to run and a hungry spider wanting to make him it's meal. He finally took a breath and scream.
Seeing they both had no place else to go, Scooby and Courage ran straight for the motel's main office.
"Help! Help! Help!" Courage yelled out. He turns into a cobra, then a dragon, and finally a lizard with a large frill on its back and horns, before turning to normal.
Scooby stared at him for a few seconds, wondering how he could turn into those things, before deciding to not worry about it. "Ruhh, Rourage," he patted his back, trying to get the panicking dog's attention.
It wasn't until Courage's panic subsided that he finally realized that there was nobody at all in the room. No manager or anything. Just an empty office with the back room door hanging open.
"Where is everybody?" Courage wondered, while Scooby shrugged his shoulders, with a worry look on his face. Then suddenly they heard a terrified scream.
"HELP!"
"Raggy! Re're comin!" Scooby shouted, as he ran to the door with Courage by his side.
Inside the room was a large web. Their eyes widened with fear when they saw the massive spiderweb in the middle of the room, bones scattered around it. In the very center of it was Eustace... wrapped all up in webbing and still snoring like nothing had bothered him at all. And skittering down from one corner was a large purple spider with it's maw snapping and drool dripping from it's mouth.
Scooby screamed loudly, as Courage howled in fright as he waved his arms around in panic.
"Scooby-Doo!"
Scooby and Courage turned, and to their alarm and panic the spider pulled a ribbon of silk from it's abdomen and wrapped it around Shaggy's ankles and began working the silk up his calves. Shaggy managed to buck hard and a bit of the web tore only for thin, sticky strands to keep him from escape. The spider's spinnerets brought forth the same saran wrap-like ribbons and wound it tightly around its prey's squirming legs. Moving its legs around the helpless terrified teen the spider weaved a tight X, overlapping its previous throws of silk around his ankles and slowly up his calves. Shaggy kept wiggling and struggling, but it was no use. He was stuck real tight. "HELP!"
"Raggy!" Scooby cried fearfully, his eyes widened with worry.
"What do we do!? What do we do!?" Courage asked, panicking.
Scooby turned to the small dog, "Ro and get Rustace. RI'll get Raggy!"
Courage nodded, he and Scooby both grabbed two floor boards and pulled off the floor. Before the spider was able to get a bite on Eustace's face, Courage managed to get the plank to hit the spider and squish it.
"Like, HELP!" Shaggy screeched out as he struggled against the web. Already the webbing was up to his waist as the spider snapped it's maw quickly with drool running. Shaggy pulled his legs apart, but the singular stocking of glistening white material kept them in place, bound helplessly together. the spider pinched his legs together, pulling the silk tighter as it rolled him over a couple time, ensnaring him within the mesh of webs he had been trapped in. the spider continued, wrapping up and over his knees and up his thighs, his ability to run completely taken away, even if he were to miraculously fall from the web. "SCOOBY-DOO!"
Scooby ran as fast as he could in pursuit, with a floor board in his arm, "RI'm comin Raggy!"
With one strong swoop he was able to bring it down on the spider, squashing and killing it. He quickly climbed up the board and was able to easily pull Shaggy off of the web and run back down. Swiftly, the Great Dane moved quickly to free Shaggy and rapidly through the webbing to free him.
"Like, boy am I glad to see you, Scoob old buddy!" Shaggy said, feeling great relief he ever felt in his life.
"Raggy, you're alright!" Scooby gasped before proceeding to lick Shaggy.
Feeling ticklish from the licking, Shaggy laughed. "Ah, down Scoob," he laughed. "Down!"
Courage, although happy to see the cowardly teen alright, knew they had to get out of here now, "Coming on guys, let's get out of here."
Scooby and Shaggy nodded, got up and immediately getting the the door. But before the three could run out of the room with Eustace, the trio turned to leave and froze they found that their escape route was blocked by a familiar red cat.
"Leaving so soon?" Katz snarled as he slammed the door to the office closed.
"Zoinks!" Shaggy panicked, his heart begin to race. He knew that cat was up to something!
"Rikes!" Scooby screamed, as he jumped into his best friend's arms and shivered.
Courage howled with fright again and in an instant, he threw Eustace right at Katz.
"LIKE, RUN, GUYS!" Shaggy screamed at the top of his lungs. He, Courage and Scooby zoomed right out the door and through the hall, screaming.
Katz was able to pull himself out from under Eustace's still sleeping body and said, "I wish you hadn't done that."
Scooby, Shaggy and Courage ran down a flight of stairs, just as they stopped in front of a door.
"Now what do we do?! Now what do we do?!" Courage asked, frightened that the cat might be following them.
Scooby turned and pointed to the door, "Rin there!"
The trio dashed in, only to find that the room was dark with no light shining anywhere.
"Oh no, it's dark in here," Courage whined.
Shaggy felt around beside the door and found a light switch, "Like hang on dudes, I think I found a light switch," he said.
Only he quickly regretted turning on the lights. All along the room were shelves. Shelves loaded with many jars containing even more deformed versions of the spiders that Shaggy, Scooby and Courage had already witnessed. Indicating that the things that he had seen certainly were not normal spiders and that someone had taken great time and effort to create them. The three looked at each other, with horrified expressions, and screamed in total horror. Courage didn't even bother opening the door as he ran out, he simply knocked it down and crushed Katz as he, Shaggy and Scooby ran away from the freak show.
"I wish you hadn't done that," Katz said angrily from under the door.
The trio screamed as they sprinted down the hall, Katz just walking calmly after them. They ran until they hit a dead end.
Courage gasped, "Oh no."
"Like, it's a dead end!" Shaggy screamed in terror.
"Re're trapped!" Scooby panicked.
They turned to run back... only to see Katz stepping out of the shadows, just glaring at the cowardly trio. "There's no place to run and no place to hide," he said in a surprisingly calm voice.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were huddling together, frightened, clutching on to one another, as Katz approached them. To their surprise however, Katz pulled out a rubber bouncy ball and began bouncing it against the floor.
"A little sport before dying dear boys?" Katz asked.
"Do we have a choice?" Courage countered.
Katz hit the ball as it bounced off a wall to the trio, Scooby hitting it back first. Going back and forth the ball hits the wall, as they played the game to either freedom or death. They're having a hard time, but Katz was having it easy. They just hit the ball once again. Just as they ended up hitting the wall with their backs. The trio managed to hit the ball as they jumped. But they landed on the floor really hard. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were getting tired as they hit the ball again before bumping into the wall again. Katz was taking a sip of tea as he used his foot to kick the ball. The trio didn't think they can keep up much longer after hitting the ball again.
Katz was reading a book about spiders as he used his tail to hit the ball, "How lovely."
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were out of energy after they hit the ball again.
"Like…Must….Keep….Going…." Shaggy panted, strength leaving him with every hit.
As it slowly bounced back to Katz, the villainous feline wound up to hit the ball with a racquet. He swung and the ball rocketed off the wall and hit Courage right on the forehead. Courage's head spun before he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"Courage/Rourage!" Scooby and Shaggy yelled, as they went to the corner and Shaggy cradled Courage.
"Like little pink dude, are you alright?"
Courage rub his head and groaned, "I think so Shaggy."
Scooby looked up and immediately panicked, "Ruys!"
Shaggy and Courage looked up and to their horror, Katz was blocking their way out. Katz stood over them, setting his tennis racket off to the side. Katz popped the muscles in his neck and kneeled down to the boys' level.
"Now you three are going to learn why no one EVER checks out of the Katz Motel," Katz said with a sneer.
The trio found themselves backing into the corner as they're currently being cornered by murderous cat, they're shivering in terror. Katz raised one of his hands, revealing one of his spiders as it snapped it's maw at the trio. He began to laugh maniacally as held the spider up high and stared down at frightened trio, ready to finish this once and for all. Shaggy and Scooby found themselves panicking from within, they're completely cornered. Courage howled, knowing what was coming his way. Not only in fear, but in despair. He had failed. He'd failed to save Scooby and Shaggy and he had failed to save Muriel. He had even failed to save himself.
Thinking this to be the end, the trio all embraced each other, eyes close to await their awful fates. Katz still laughing evilly, the spider still in his hand. Suddenly, a badminton racket goes through Katz head to his arms, as he lets go of the spider. The spider falls to the floor, before scuttling away. Katz falls to the ground. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage opened their eyes to see that the one who saved them was Muriel, who had a frown on her face.
"Come on, boys, we're leaving. The service here stinks," Muriel said angrily.
"Aww man, like, that was close you guys," Shaggy said, in relief.
"Rou said it Raggy," Scooby agreed.
"Ditto," Courage added.
Meanwhile, because Eustace was still sleeping, Muriel had to be the one to drive them back.
"Look at the fine sheets Uncle Eustace has. Maybe we should get some for you three," Muriel said.
Courage, Shaggy and Scooby looked at each other. Just before screaming all the way home.
Well that's it for this chapter more to come.
Shaggy: Like I hope the scariest parts of the show are over.
Scooby: Reah
Me: yeah… (nervous chuckle) (Thinking oh boy….)
