I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I'm back again, with a new story for you. Before we begin, I'm thinking of sticking to Harry Potter stories, as no one seems to like my Sherlock vs Jack the Ripper story. I'm not complaining, I guess those who read my stories are Harry Potter fans and aren't interested in non Harry Potter stories.

Anyway, I have something new for you all today. Besides the basic premise for the story, I have nothing planned for it. No drafts. Nothing. I'll just see where the flow, and my imagination takes me and I'm sure it will be interesting to see where this story goes. Now, I won't keep you an longer. Read on, enjoy and I will see you at the end.

Chapter 1

Halloween night. 1981. The day that changed everything. Pettigrew had betrayed the Potters and gave Voldemort the location of where they were hiding, having become a Death Eater. Voldemort walked with an eerie, yet elegant grace as he approach the front door, waving his wand casually, where the door swung open with force. James Potter stood his ground, wand raised. He fought against Voldemort giving time for Lily to run upstairs with her children. James Potter fought well, but Voldemort sent him flying into a wall, where Potter fell unconscious. Voldemort thought about killing him and the Mudblood, but found that killing their children and leaving them alive was more satisfying. Walking up the stairs, Voldemort found Lily Potter, a wand in her hand, standing in front of a closed door. Lily immediately fired a spell, which Voldemort easily blocked. The fight was over almost as soon as it started, as Voldemort blasted the door behind her, knocking her unconscious as the blast flew her forward.

Voldemort walked through the broken doorway, his gaze landing on the two children in front of him. One black haired boy and one red headed boys The four year old that was Harry Potter stood in front of his one year old brother, Nathaniel. The red head was crying at the sight of Voldemort, whilst Harry just looked at Voldemort bravely, no hint of fear, his green eyes almost glowing. If Voldemort was a lesser, weaker man and the boy was a lot older, Voldemort would have been intimidated by the sight. Voldemort had no doubt that the boy would become a powerful wizard when he was older, unlike the crying irritation hiding behind him. If it wasn't for the prophecy, Voldemort would take the black haired child and raise him as his own, training him in all kinds of dark arts and black magic. But the prophecy said there was only one child who could defeat him and judging from what he sensed in Harry Potter, he must have been the one the prophecy was talking about.

"Such a shame, you would have made an excellent heir" Voldemort mused, raising his wand "Avada Kedavra!"

The jet of green light hit the boys in front of him, but what Voldemort didn't expect was for the spell to rebound and come back to him. It all happened to fast, that he didn't have time to react, before the spell hit him head on. He felt his body break and shred, before his cloak fell to the ground, as his body crumbled into dust, leaving him as a wraith in the air. Voldemort let out a yell of rage, as he flew out the building.

Dumbledore looked at James and Lily Potter, who were holding Harry and Nathaniel in their arms. After hearing about the attack, he immediately headed over to see if they were okay. Thankfully everyone was fine, besides Nathaniel, who had a small scar on his forehead, in the shape of a lightning bolt. 'Mark as his equal'. That's what the prophecy said. Nathaniel was the one the prophecy was talking about.

"Dumbledore, what does this mean?" James Potter asked

"My boy, the prophecy has been fulfilled" Dumbledore smiled "Nathaniel is the one the prophecy was talking about…he will need to be given enough care and attention, and he needs to be trained when the time comes"

Harry woke up, with a sharp jolt, when he felt a heavy weight land on his chest. A weight which turned out to be his five year old sister Evelyn bouncing up and down on top of him, her childish excitement radiating the entire room.

"Harry, Harry!" She said, shaking him, so he'd get up "Harry up, up, up!"

Harry groaned tiredly as Evelyn jumped off of him and ran out of his room. As he sat up, slowly, Harry held a hand to his head as he thought about his dream. He remembered that night, every single second. I had been ten years since that night pretty much ruined his life for a long time afterwards. When Nathaniel was named the Boy-Who-Lived, his parents paid no attention to him whatsoever. It was like they forgot he existed. They weren't there when he needed them. They weren't there when he received his Hogwarts letter, when he went to Diagon Alley, when he first boarded the train to Hogwarts. Sirius and Remus were the ones who were there for him. They practically raised him, and bought him things. Harry couldn't remember the last time his parents bought him a birthday or Christmas present. Nathaniel on the other hand, he was given everything he ever wanted on a silver platter. Nathaniel wanted toys, Nathaniel got them. Nathaniel wanted the latest brooms or money, Nathaniel got them. When he was younger, if Harry ever asked for anything, he got yelled at and was told to leave them alone.

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Harry pushed himself off of the bed and got dressed into a simple white shirt and dark jeans. Opening his bedroom door, he saw Evelyn waiting for him, looking up at him with adoration. Smiling, Harry picked her up and held her, as he walked down the stairs to the kitchens. Harry was surprised when he found out that his parents were having another child, considering they never seemed to acknowledge his own existence. However when his little Evie was born, Harry was glad that his parents had her. Even though his parents didn't neglect Evelyn like they did with him, they still didn't give her the same amount of attention as they gave Nathaniel. Harry loved Evelyn and has done ever since he first held her when she was born. He couldn't say the same for Nathaniel. All the fame and attention that the boy has received from being the Boy-Who-Lived turned him into a self absorbed, spoilt brat. Harry was glad that he was at Hogwarts for most of the year, so he didn't have to put up with the boy. But now, Nathaniel was starting Hogwarts, so he would have to but up with the brat there as well.

Sighing, Harry placed Evelyn in her chair at the table, kissing her forehead, before moving to the stove and started preparing some food for himself and Evelyn, who squealed with joy when Harry placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front of her. Harry couldn't help but smile, as his little sister attacked and ate her eggs in an unladylike manner. As he ate his own food, Harry noticed Lily standing in the doorway watching them.

"Morning Harry" Lily said "we'll be going to Diagon Alley soon, do you need any help with buying your supplies this year?"

"No" Harry said, tone cold "if I need your help, I'll ask for it…not that you were ever there to help me beforehand!"

Lily felt a pain in her heart, at her sons tone and words, as he got up and turned his back on her and washed his and Evelyn's dishes, before helping Evelyn out of her seat and kissed her forehead gently.

"Evie, be good" he said gently, the coldness of his tone, gone "I'll be back in a couple of hours"

Evelyn nodded, but it was clear that she didn't like it, where Harry walked out of the kitchen, not even giving Lily a glance, as he passed her. He walked out of the Manor and to the nearby road. Harry took out his wand and signalled for the Knight Bus, where the purple tower on wheels quickly zoomed up the road and stopped in front of him. Harry smiled as he greeted the driver and held on tightly, as the bus began racing and zooming across roads and through streets, before coming up to a stop at the Leaky Cauldron. Paying his fare for the ride, Harry got off the bus, heading to the back of the pub, where the entrance to Diagon Alley stood. Tapping the correct bricks in sequence, Harry still watched in awe as it opened. No matter how many times he saw it happen, it still fascinated him. He had only just stepped through the arch, where he was found and approached by Penelope Clearwater and Aila Badger. Two of his friends.

Penelope, Penny to her friends, was in the same year as Harry, in Ravenclaw with long curly, blond hair and blue eyes. Aila Badger was a year younger then both of them, being in the year below them in Hufflepuff and was James Badgers younger sister. Aila had chocolate brown eyes, with hazel coloured hair and, despite being a year younger then them, she was still a close friend.

"Hey Harry" Penny smiled "what took you so long?"

"Got caught up at home" Harry replied, turning to Aila "Where's your brother and the others?"

"James, Arianna and Cedric are in Florish and Blotts" Aila replied "Fred and George won't be here until much later in the day"

"Shame, I was rather hoping of seeing them today" Harry sighed as the three walked into the book store, where they immediately found the others

It wasn't difficult to find them, as James, as always, was sporting bright purple hair. It sometimes caused people to give him strange looks, mainly in the Muggle world, but it was still unusual in the Wizarding world too. James smiled, upon seeing him, giving his best friend a hug, with Arianna Malfoy and Cedric Diggory following suit.

"How have you been Harry?" Cedric asked

"I've been good…considering" Harry shrugged

"How do you feel about…you know…" Arianna said "your brother coming to Hogwarts"

"Not my brother, as far as I'm concerned" Harry growled "but it is starting to piss me off, all I hear is how happy and proud they are, it's almost sickening"

"Well, should you hex the little bastard, I want front row seats" James smirked, before turning to Cedric and Arianna "your siblings are also starting this year aren't they?"

"Yes" Cedric smiled "William is both excited and nervous, he wants to be sorted into Hufflepuff like me, but I'm not so sure"

"Hmm, Draco is in a similar state" Arianna nodded "for the past two weeks mother and father have been teaching him proper etiquette and how to act whilst at school…I may have also threatened to hex him should he step one foot out of line"

The group laughed, as they paid for their books and walked out the store. However, their laughter stopped when they saw the sight in front of them. Harry's parents were smiling at some reporters and cameras whilst an overweight red head boy with glasses posed, flexed and blew kisses to the camera. The legendary Boy-Who-Lived. Legendary. Harry was certain his parents still wiped his own ass and helped him clean and get dressed. Legendary indeed. Nathaniel was nothing like Harry. Harry was the same height as James and Cedric, standing at 6ft and was well built with strong muscles due to playing Quidditch and his eyes were a beautiful emerald green and his hair was long and wavy, almost touching the base of his neck and shoulders. For many, especially the female population of the Wizarding World, he was perfection, and an eye catcher. Nathaniel on the other hand was the exact opposite.

"You'd think, if you were the 'hero of the Wizarding World', you'd make yourself look more presentable and tidy" James commented, taking in the red heads chubby physique and messy, stained clothes, before noting the spots forming on the boys face "and take care of your personal hygiene"

"You're lucky" Harry replied, sneering at the sight "You don't have to live with him…let's go, I'd rather not have my day ruined by the prat prancing around like a peacock"

The others nodded and the group walked off, choosing to ignore the Boy-Who-Lived, who strutted through Diagon Alley like he owned it, waiting for all the witches to squeal and ask for his autograph.

It wasn't long until Harry was back on the platform at Kings Cross, heading to the barrier that led to the Hogwarts Express. Harry chose to walk far behind his parents and brother, not wanting to associate himself with them, whilst he carried Evelyn on his shoulders, who happily squealed at how high she was. Muggles that passed them, couldn't help but smile at the sight of an older brother with his younger sister on his shoulders. As soon as Harry passed through the barriers, Harry was almost blinded by the flashing of cameras, that were hoping to get a picture of his brother, who posed dramatically for them. Harry rolled his eyes, just as a reporter came over.

"Mr Potter, I am Rita Skeeter from the Daily Prophet" she said "how do you feel now that your brother is starting Hogwarts?"

"No comment" Harry replied, coldly walking away, towards Arianna who stood with her family

"Ah Harry" Lucius smiled, as he approached

"Hello Mr Malfoy" Harry smiled back

Harry liked the Malfoy's. Unlike their ancestors, they were kind and generous people who did whatever they could for charity. Lucius knew that his family name wasn't one that had the best reputation, his ancestors were cruel people who killed, raped and pillaged and he wanted to try his best to redeem the family name for what his ancestors had done and so far, he was doing well. The fact that he fought against Voldemort to the best of his ability, helping the Light in many battles helped too. Harry remembered that they were marked as an enemy by Voldemort when Lucius refused to take the Dark Mark. Something Lucius would say was the best decision he ever made.

"Please Harry, none of this Mr Malfoy stuff" he said "Call me Lucius, you are practically part of the family"

"Oh, I agree" Narcissa smiled, giving Harry and Evelyn a hug "it is so good to see you again, have you too been well"

"We've been great" Harry smiled "though Evie here has a habit of jumping on my chest to wake me up in the morning"

"Is that true?" Narcissa asked, looking to the small child "Evie, have you been bothering your brother?"

"No" Evelyn said innocently, shaking her head, unknowingly doing a very good impression of Dobby, the Malfoy's House Elf

"Mother, we need to get going" Arianna spoke up "The train will be leaving in a few minutes"

Narcissa smiled, giving Arianna and Draco a hug, as well as hugging Harry and Evelyn. Whilst Arianna and Draco boarded the train, Harry took Evelyn back to their parents, giving his baby sister a tight hug, as the girl held onto his legs with a vice like grip. Giving her one last squeeze, Harry turned on his heel and boarded the train, not evening saying goodbye or looking at his parents.

Lily watched, as Harry boarded the train, completely ignoring her. She was confused as to why the boy had been acting cold and distant towards herself and her husband. She couldn't understand his behaviour. It hurt her, if she was being honest. They cared for the boy, gave him food and shelter, but he treated them horribly by, either ignoring them, or taking to them in harsh tones. She was going to have to speak with her husband about this. Hopefully they can find out the reason for Harry's attitude.

Harry and Arianna walked down the train until they came across a compartment where James was sitting with Aila and Penny.

"Hey guys" Arianna said, as they entered "where's Cedric?"

"With Cho of course" James grinned

Harry and Arianna smirked as they sat down. Cedric had started dating Cho Chang a few months back and it lead to a lot of gentle ribbing and teasing from the others.

"Arianna, where is Draco?" Penny asked

"Sitting with some of his friends" Arianna shrugged "I'm worried about him, I fear he may end up embarrassing himself…mother and father have tried teaching him proper etiquette and subtlety but I don't know how much of those lessons have gotten through to him"

"I'm sure he'll be fine" Aila reassured, where the compartment door opened, and the Weasley Twins entered

"Hello you lot" Fred greeted

"Any room for a couple of pranksters" George smiled

"Get in here, you cheeky bastards" James grinned "how was your summer, we weren't able to see you much"

"It was fine" George shrugged

"But what about you?" Fred asked, turning to Harry "How are you feeling, now that your brother is starting Hogwarts"

"Saying I'm irritated will be an understatement" Harry sighed "pissed is more like it…I now have to deal with the self centred git at Hogwarts as well as back home"

"And our brother, Ron is starting too" George pointed out "you know what the two are like when they hang out…I dread to think what will happen"

The rest of the journey to Hogwarts was uneventful. The group just played Exploding Snap and shared snacks. When they arrived, Harry and Penny walked to the Ravenclaw Table, James and Arianna walked to the Slytherin Table, Fred and George walked to the Gryffindor Table and Cedric and Aila walked to the Hufflepuff Table. Many were surprised at the House diversity in their friend group. Due to House rivalry between some Houses, many wouldn't dare make friends outside of their House. As the First Years entered, to be sorted, Harry ignored the stares he was getting from female students. Harry, James, Cedric, Fred and George were some of the most sought after boys in the school. Most found them to be the most attractive boys in the school and due to playing Quidditch for their House Teams, they all had developed some strong muscles. However, for many female students, Harry was the most popular out of the group, which his friends loved to tease him about.

Shaking his head, Harry kept his attention on the Sorting. Cedric's brother went to Hufflepuff, much to the First Years delight and Draco went to Slytherin, which caused Arianna to clap the loudest. Harry didn't really pay much attention to the Sorting, due to many children who had names he didn't recognise, but he payed close attention when a young girl named Hermione Granger came up. Due to the awe and fear on her face, Harry guessed she was a Muggleborn. The look on her face reminded himself of his own sorting. He was incredibly nervous and the hat couldn't help but chuckle as he tried to reassure and comfort him. Harry remembered the hat having difficulties sorting Harry, as he was a perfect split between Ravenclaw and Slytherin but chose Ravenclaw, after taking in Harry's personal choice into consideration. Then, McGonagall called out Nathaniels name and many looked shocked and disgusted at the overweight, spotty boy that swaggered up to the stool.

"Merlin Harry" Cho gasped next to him "That's your brother?"

"Unfortunately I am related to that whale" Harry sighed

"Looks like you got all the good genetics then" Cho commented

Harry smirked, as he turned back to the sorting. Judging by the look on Nathaniels face and the folds in the Sorting Hats fabric, the two seemed to be having some kind of mental argument, until the hat finally yelled out:

"Gryffindor!"

If Harry didn't know any better, the hat sounded annoyed and frustrated. But still, Gryffindor? Home of the Brave and Chivlarous? The boy couldn't even say Voldemort's name without pissing his pants.

"Look at Cedric and Aila" Penny said, nudging Harry "they seem relieved to see that he's not in Hufflepuff"

Harry looked, and smiled, to see that Cedric and Aila had looks of relief and Cedric seemed to be thanking Merlin himself. The same could be said for James and Arianna on the Slytherin Table. Unfortunately, Fred and George didn't look so happy, moving further away from the Boy-Who-Lived. After a couple more minutes, the Sorting was over , ending with Ron Weasley going to Gryffindor, much to the Twins' dismay, and a boy called Blaise Zabini going to Slytherin. The Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore gave his speech but Harry didn't pay much attention. It was more or less the same thing. Harry didn't expect anything major to happen this year.

Nothing interesting ever happened in the school.

And that is the first chapter done. What did you guys think?

I'm not sure how many stories there are, where Harry's parents neglected him as his brother was named the Boy-Who-Lived. I can only recall one I read, but don't remember the name. There are a couple of original characters in this story, I thought it would be an interesting change. The only plan I have for this story is to delve more into a few of the characters past and characteristics, to flesh them out. I don't even know what the pairings should be. If you have an idea for pairings, do let me know. Just remember Harry and his friends are all 14 and are in their fourth year, at the start of this story. Also if you have a story request, feel free to PM me.

Now, you may have noticed there are two characters named James; James Potter and James Badger. Until I find a way to distinguish the two, so you don't get confused I will write James Potter for now and try to limit any scenes with those two characters together, though I'm sure I could make a meta joke at some point in the story.

That is all for now, I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you next time.
