Chapter 1

Mandie Woodard Slowly closed the door to her and Joe's room. She held her breath as she heard the door click shut. She tip toed down the hallway.

"Come on, little person," Mandie said, as she rubbed her stomach. "let's go get a snack!"

Mandie had been pregnant for six months. She had started to feel morning sickness three weeks in and went to see the doctor. She came back jumping for joy!

The baby rolled over in her stomach.

Mandie giggled. "Wow, You must be hungry!"

She walked down the stairs, and into the kitchen.

"Let's see what we can find."

She looked around for a little bit before she found a leftover piece of pie. She licked her lips. Mandie sat down at the table. She slowly ate it. Thinking back on her wedding.

. . .

Mandie let out a sigh. This was the day! She was about to become Mrs. Amanda Woodard. She looked at Uncle John.

"Don't be nervous." Uncle John said.

Mandie smiled at him. "All my life I loved Joe, but now that I'm almost married to him it feels almost scary." There was a pause. "Thank you, for letting me have my wedding at the house."

He chuckled. "You're welcome, my little blue eyes!"

The music started to play.

"Are you ready?"

Mandie nodded. This is what God wants. This is what I want. I love Joe, and that will never change.

Uncle John led Mandie down the aisle. They slowly walked to Joe. He handed Mandie over to Joe. There eyes locked. Mandie blushed and looked down.

"Marriage brings us together. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another about yourselves. Please say your vows.

Mandie started to panic. She for a moment forgot her vows.

"I, Amanda Shaw, take thee, Joe Woodard, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."

Joe smiled at Mandie.

"I, Joe Woodard, take thee, Amanda Shaw, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part."

Pastor James looked at Joe "Do you take Amanda Shaw as your lawful wife to love and to cherish?"

Mandie eyes locked with Joe's. He grinned.

"I do."

He looked at Mandie. "Do you take Joe Woodard as your lawful husband to love and to cherish?"

"I do."

Jonathan handed the ring to Joe.

Joe slipped it onto Mandie finger.

"I take this ring as a sight of my love and faithfulness in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit."

Mandie turned around, and Celia placed the ring in the middle of Mandie palm. She looked at Joe.

"I take this ring as a sight of my love and faithfulness in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit."

Pastor James looked at Joe. "You may kiss your bride."

Joe wrapped his arms around Mandie waist.

Mandie could feel heat exploding in her cheeks, as their lips slowly came together. They pulled apart. The crowed clapped. Happy for the new couple.

Joe grabbed Mandie's hand and walked down the aisle.

Later that night Joe had asked Mandie to go on a walk.

"I love you." Said Joe.

Mandie blushed. "I love you to."

"The after party was amazing. Your Mother really outdid herself."

"Well, I'm her only daughter. I think she wanted to make it special." She paused. "When are we going to see our new house.?"

Joe smiled at her. "You'll see it soon. It's still being built."

"We should go inside. Mother will worry about us."

The couple walked inside.

"Amanda, there you are! Can I talk to you?" said Elizabeth.

Joe let go of Mandie's hand. "I love you." He whispered.

Elizabeth led Mandie into the parlor. She motioned Mandie to sit down.

"Amanda, you've grown up so fast." She said with tears in her eyes.

"Oh Mother, me and Joe love each other." Answered Mandie, "This is the right thing to do."

Elizabeth wrapped her arms around her daughter. "I love you. We should go to bed."

The two stood up. "Mother, I love you so much. I am so grateful that we found each other."

They hugged again.

Mandie walked up the stairs and into her and Joe's bedroom.

"What did your Mother want?"

"She wanted to say that she loves me."

Joe nodded in understanding.

They both got into the bed.

"Goodnight, Mandie."

"Goodnight, Joe."

. . .

Mandie put her empty plate into the sink.

"That was the best day of me life." Said Mandie.

She walked out into the kitchen and crashed into Joe.

"Joe!" Exclaimed Mandie, "what are you going awake?"

"I could ask you the same question." He answered.

Mandie smiled. "The baby was hungry."

Joe sigh. "You can't just eat whenever you want."

"I'm sorry, but he insisted." She said, as she rubbed her tummy.

Joe hugged her. "What do you think it is?"

Mandie thought. "Ummm, I think it is a boy. What do you want?"

"I would like a girl," He answered, "and, I would like her to be as pretty as you."

She blushed. Mandie leaned her head on Joe's chest.

"Let's go to bed." Said Joe.

They walked up stairs.

Mandie slowly sat on the bed. She sighed.

"What's wrong?" asked Joe.

"Nothing, I wish this baby would come sooner. That way I can hold him in my hands and rock him."

Joe laughed lightly. "You were never one for waiting."

Mandie laid down and slowly fell asleep.
