Fate Grand Order: Humanity's Blade Works

Shirou/Artoria
Ritsuka Fujimaru/Mash

I own nothing. Fate and related spin offs are works of the Nasuverse; this is just an insomniac trainwreck inspired by Zelretch.

"Everything in here is fake. But that doesn't matter, there's no law that says a faker can't surpass the original. If you're the genuine article, then I'll surpass you, in every way, and take you down. Let's go, King of Heroes, I hope you've stored enough weapons." Shirou stated, at a stunned Gilgamesh before projecting his Noble Phantasms of Kanshou and Bakuya before rushing forwards; golden blurs rushed towards him but for specialist magus, for each gold projectile was countered by a blue.

This was the magic of Emiya Shirou, adopted son of Emiya Kiritsugu; the Magus Killer, Shirou managed to close the distance; he sundered Gilgamesh's arm holding Ea; The Sword of Rupture with Bakuya followed by a savage diagonal slice with Kanshou.

Blood spurted from Gilgamesh's mouth as the Reality Marble receded "Victory, is yours mongrel...but it won't save your life." The King of Heroes declared opening one more portal to the Gate of Babylon.

Shirou grinned "Trace...on." One last blade materialised in his hand as a Black Orb materialised at the stump of Gilgamesh's arm. At that moment, Saber caught up to her Master.

Saber's, Artoria Pendragon, breathing hitched. She remembered the previous Holy Grail War, the sludge was familiar to her. It was at that moment that Saber made her major impulsive decision;if Emiya Shiro was the one that made her heart skip a beat, then she was not about to let him go. She strode forwards, Invisible Air long since vanished revealing Excalibur to the entirety of the Moonlit World; she reached the mudlike materialisation of the embodiment of sin and saw it slowly drowning Shiro.

"SHIRO!" Artoria shouted as she reached forwards, the mud was impeding her slightly; thankfully the blessing of the lake allowed her some degree of movement. Her gauntleted hand reached out to Shirou's and as they're fingertips connected, they vanished in a swirl of colour. The last thing they heard was a quiet chuckling of laughter.

Both Artoria and Shirou landed on a black and white flagstone floor in an undignified tangle of limbs. At least from Artoria's point of view "There's pills and protection in the cabinet to your left, ring the bell once you're done."

The Master-Servant duo sprang apart, the laughter continued before a cocoon of light shimmered revealing a powerfully built old man, impeccably dressed and wielding a jeweled cane "Greetings, Emiya Shirou and Saber Servant Artoria Pendragon; for all my penchant for jokes let us dispense with them. I am Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg; Wizard Marshall and Wielder of the Multiverse Stick Kaleidoscope, I am he who one shotted the Moon Crimson Arc Brunstrud and adopted his Granddaughter. Well, I need your assistance...rather Emiya's."

"Then, Wizard Marshall, why am I here if you only need Shirou?" Artoria growled.

Zelretch smiled "Because you are the Excalibur to his Avalon. You might have realised that Emiya Shirou's very being is tied to you. There are realities where Shirou summons you as a Lancer, becomes King with you his Queen in Camelot, there's even a reality where you Artoria summon him. Quite simply Shirou isn't Shirou and Arturia is not Arturia without Emiya Shirou. Also, where you need to go, Alaya by extension Humanity needs the pair of you. Humanity is extinct, you'll be heading to Chaldea Security Agency and save well humanity."

Shirou and Arturia gulped "I'm no magus…"

Zelretch grinned "As you are, you'll not be of any help whatsoever. That is why I intervened; you won Shirou and Arturia. Congratulations on winning the Fifth Holy Grail War. I will naturally give you payment in the form of enhancements to best save humanity."

Shirou was flabbergasted "Count us in. What enhancements are you giving us?"

"You, Emiya. I managed to procure from seven timelines, seven sets of 27 average magical circuits and three swords. Two you'll be or will be intimately familiar with and one that rightfully belongs to you."

Shirou nodded. Zelretch smirked, his eyes flashed and he collapsed. "I'm also going to need a heartstring from you." Arturia nodded before she herself passed out. Zelretch grinned as he worked quickly, he may have been seriously injured in his fight, he may have lost some of his humanity when he became a Dead Apostle Ancestor; but he was still a Magus who kept his word.

With the operation done and his latest student still unconscious. Zelretch quickly gathered up a variety of books around projection, reinforcement, metallurgy and blacksmithing placed them next to Shirou with the swords before casually sending them out. "Emiya Shirou, good luck."

(Antarctica, Chaldea)

A blizzard has rolled in, obscuring the already obscured Chaldea Agency. However, a pink-haired and eyed young girl caught a flash of colour. Kyrielight Mash, darted down the corridors heading for the main doors.

"Where do you think you're going?" Came a voice, Mash stopped and turned sheepishly; standing in a doorway was a Doctor.

"I saw someone crash outside in the…" Doctor Romani's eyes widened, with that he strode out of the doorway, heading towards the exit sounding an alarm.

"We have either stranded magi or really lost explorers. It is imperative that we find them and bring them in." Romani ordered. With Romani taking point a team of six others headed into the blizzard.

Shirou and Artoria shivered, Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg was an ass, it was fucking freezing. Even for someone who'd be described as 'empty' like Shirou; this was taking the piss. Yes, they were clad for winter but this was taking the mickey, even with their extremely warm clothing the wind cut through them. "We need to keep moving. We move, we warm and we live." The King of Knights instructed as she pulled Shirou to his feet.

She caught a look at her hand and three blood red marks, forming a sword were apparent, what made it stranger were the three identical marks on his hand. "We'll sort this out once we're out of the cold."

As they trudged forwards, they could slowly begin to hear voices. "Over here, my magecraft specialises in magnetics and its saying their over there! HELLO! ANYONE THERE! NAMES MAG! MAG NORTH!"

Shirou concentrated, he'd found everything was still related to swords for his magecraft; but if he used elemental magecraft and sculpted it into a blade it allowed him to use it. From the palm of his hand a torch of fire in the form of a butter knife.

"It's okay! I'm Doctor Romani Acherman; you're near the Chaldea Security Organisation."

"I'm Emiya Shirou and this is Saber. Zelretch, dropped us here." Any hostility he may have garnered by his surname was quickly replaced by disdain and raised eyebrows at the name of the Wizard Marshall.

"Come, come, we need you to get a full checkup; for rayshift compatibility and other stuff. Your ability as a Magus for Summoning Spirits is clearly evident."

Shirou smirked, he was going to keep the fact he could only summon Arturia a secret. It turned out they were five minutes walk away from the front doors. "Romani, where were you?" Demanded a Blonde Woman.

"Er, Director Animusphere…I was informed of two disturbances just inside the boundary field of Chaldea; they weren't moving. A rescue party was formed to retrieve them." Romani replied sheepishly.

Animusphere sniffed before stalking off "My thanks gentlemen. Now, Emiya-san, Saber-san, please follow me. Welcome to Chaldea." Those were the last words that the pair of them understood, before the Doctor began to babble in definite medical jargon before the doors opened again and Olga Amusphere walked in.

"Well?"

"Emiya is cleared for rayshifting, he's limited in his magecraft and summoning potential; but considering you're needing as many magi with compatibility for Summoning Servants, I can fully say he'll be able to assist in protecting humanity."

Animusphere nodded "Welcome, Magi Candidate 47, Emiya Shirou. If you'll follow me to orientation. Your friend will have to remain here."

Shirou looked at Artoria "We'll be fine." As he tapped his hand "We were given these for a reason."

Artoria nodded "Be safe Shirou…"

The orientation was boring, it was a series of acronyms: LAPLACE which protected Masters during a Rayshift; CHALDEAS, a solid orb of spiritrons in an identical form of the Earth, designed to spot singularities; SHEBA a focusing lens for the light of CHALDEAS; the FATE system which in Shirou's mind and the black-haired master next to him thought, very much a slot game. However the most important one apparently was TRISMEGISTUS which helped run the other four projects of the Security Organisation.

Shirou managed to keep his new acquaintance from getting thrown out. However, as the orientation ended the building rocked. Shirou was already moving, he'd seen Mash, Fujimaru and Animusphere standing close together. "Trace On, Reinforcement, Max!" His Magus Circuits flickered to life, he raced across the organisations room and flung himself at the trio. He collided with the three of them as the room turned white as a cataclysmic explosion ripped through the room.

Up in the observation room, Artoria's jaw dropped as the explosion occurred "Shirou!" She turned only to find the observation room locking down.

For Artoria she heard the announcement for a rayshift and the destination of Fuyuki, 2004.
