I'm exhausted! I need a real break. I must be the only one in the world who suffered so much for so long!

Ainz was back in his room. None of the things he had planned on achieving were actually achieved. He'd wanted those two to make some elf friends but all he got was a half-elf whose logic was as questionable as Albedo's and Shalltear's when it came to a certain topic called procreation.

He'd also planned on resting but ended up being called into politics once again, he only offered to help the Elves because he thought that if the twins fought along side them they'd become closer as people who came together for a common cause - or war buddies - and become friends. Even though he told those two to hold back they still ended it too quickly.

He was hoping the deaths of some Elves would help them, but they walked over dead bodies callously, of course that wasn't the problem, he let them die for his benefit.

They saw it as some competition to see who could kill more humans!

The only reason he kept the half-elf alive was because she had equipment from Yggdrasil, and a whole lot of information about the Slane Theocracy she was willing to share, of course all it took was Ainz beating her in a 1v1, it was a small price to pay – or so he thought.

Aura said she was about level sixty, so killing her would be pointless, especially considering she helped me so much. If it wasn't for her I would have never found out it was the Theocracy that brainwashed Shalltear. That was lucky. Downfall of Castle and Country, huh? Amongst world items it was the worst those shitty devs could come up with.

With that Ainz thought of someone who would be more than pleased to have the world item.

I essentially just looted the Theocracy like it was some sort of guild base. But of course they started it, unless they were upset about the Sunlight Scripture? No! They went too far. Shalltear is Perorocino's child, I could never simply forgive them. It was also good to confirm that these so called Six Great Gods were Yggdrasil players, so bringing that half-elf to our side just increased our fighting force. I think the other one will make a good research subject.

A knock came on the door just as his thoughts were getting good. The maid on duty informed him that it was Albedo and Demiurge.

Together? They must be bringing that.

"Let them in." Ainz said taking on more of a ruler pose than he already was.

"We received word of your arrival, I hope you'll let us infringe on your precious time for a while." Demiurge greeted with a bow.

"Demiurge, Albedo, you are well aware that my door is always open to Nazaricks greatest minds."

"We are undeserving of you kind words." This had essentially become routine.

"So, what brings the two of you here?"

"Pandora's Actor will be joining us as well, but we wanted to give our reports personally since we haven't seen you in nearly two months since you started the test."

Oh, that's the excuse I gave. I need a new one. But why Pandora's Actor? Albedo was with him, surely she already knows!

"Didn't you and Pandora's Actor exchange information, Albedo?"

"He said he was still in the middle of compiling his final reports last week, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to see him since. Also, he was acting strange, so I figured maybe he needed some rest before finishing his work.

Pandora's Actor is always acting strange! What could be ... ooh!

"How long were you gone altogether?"

"Including travel time I'd say about 20 days and 12hours."

And he hadn't even stepped into Nazarick all that time.

"Did anything weird happen?" this wasn't a question he wanted an answer to, he just wanted to seem like he didn't know anything about his creations fetishes.

"Narberal Gamma accused him of being an imposter. If that's what you mean?"

Ainz had to hold himself from snorting. It was simply too ironic!

A doppelgänger accusing a doppelgänger of being a doppelgänger! Maybe I should've gone to the Council State instead, it seems it was better than what I had to deal with. No. They were having political talks.

Another knock came on the door and Pandora's Actor entered in all his glory. Ainz could feel his emotional suppressor kicking in already.

"Welcome back, Nainz-sama!" came after heels were clicked. Demiurge and Albedo seemed relieved.

Geh! I'll keep this short.

"I hope to hear good things about your trip."

Albedo gave her report first, it was unbelievably ... short. She just talked about inferior infrastructure and how those plebeians sabotaged the meeting from the beginning. Demiurge's was simple, but then he started spouting unintelligible things about Ainz's great plans. Ainz started feeling that he had to find this Ainz genius and thank him for having millennium long plans that Demiurge could fine tune.

Pandora's Actor on the other hand said nothing and took out ... a library, out of his pocket space.

Too much! Too much paperwork!

What was surprising of all was that – unlike Albedo's work – he could actually understand what was written on these binders upon binders of work. He wanted to read through all of them carefully, but one caught his attention.

"Is this a map of the Council State?"

"Yes. Though! Crude as it may be I tried to familiarise myself with the layout on the city! I hope you may find it somewhat useful!" Ainz's emotional suppressor kicked in with each action.

"I see, have Aura see if she can improve it. I see you also came in contact with Riku. That's good. You all did well." If Ainz could avoid witnessing him re-enact a situation he would leap at the chance and so he did.

"Ainz-sama, may I be permitted to ask something?"

No! No you may not! Because whenever Demiurge starts his sentences like that he doesn't know the answer! If you don't know what do you expect of me.

"I don't mind, go ahead."

I want to bury myself. I just dug myself a hole.

"How did you bring the Elves to our side so quickly? I had estimated that even if you had taken the field yourself at least six months would be required."

Coincidence. Chance. Dumb Luck.

What a wonderful world it would be if he could say that.

"I'm sure if you were given the same information I had you would have done it in half the time." A familiar bitter smile washed over Demiurges face.

A knock came on the door. Ainz was getting restless, he had barely been back a day and responsibility was kicking him from all sides.

"Sebas? Shalltear? Cocytus? Did something noteworthy happen for you three to come all the way in person?"

Ainz wasn't expecting a welcome party.

"I'm the one who asked Sebas and Shalltear to come, I have information that requires their input." Demiurge said readjusting his glasses.

"And Cocytus is here for good measure."

What does that mean! Speak normally.

"Sebas. Are you familiar with the name Brain Unglaus?" the scene was that of a court room. Demiurge as the prosecuting lawyer, Cocytus as a guard and the others the jury. It went without saying that Ainz was the judge, but he felt that unless he was given actual information he might make the wrong decision by mistake.

"Yes, I came across a man by that name while collecting information about Re-Estize. We worked together on two occasions."

"Good. Were you aware that this man made contact with a vampire named Shalltear Bloodfallen on two occasions?"

"What?!" that came from Sebas, Shalltear and of course Ainz.

"I'll pardon the second because upon further investigation I pinpointed the timeline to be during the Yaldabaoth's disturbance and Shalltear was under orders not to kill the new recruits pet, and since he was with Climb she couldn't avenge her fingernail. Is that right, Shalltear?"

"Ah. I do remember coming across some weirdo who was happy to cut my fingernail with his sword?"

She wasn't briefed either!

"But it's the first encounter I'm more curious about, Sebas. The only other time Shalltear was let out was ..." here Demiurge looked at Shalltear.

"Before my failure."

"That's exactly right! Now Sebas, for a man who has already kept some piece of information from us, were you keeping this as well?"

Ahh! I see, I see. But Demiurge, this is bullying. Why are you bullying Sebas? He did nothing wrong!

"Demiurge-sama. I did no such thing, I wasn't aware that Brain-san ... now that you mention it, he might have been referring to an encounter with Shalltear-sama."

The room immediately got tense.

"Where is this Brain Unglaus? He might lead us to the culprits that hurt Ainz-sama?"

I suppose I would be like that too if I didn't know what know.

"He. Is. Dead. I. Met. A. Warrior. Who. Resolved. Himself. To. Die. By. His. Blade. During. The. Siege. Ainz-sama. My. Apologies. For. Not. Bringing. A. Level. 40. Warrior. Into. Our. Ranks." Cocytus spoke, apparently this was news to Demiurge as well.

"That is how you are, my friend, but to think we lost such a valuable piece of information because ..."

"That's enough, Demiurge. I already know who's behind it. You could have at least come to me with your suspicions first. Every encounter is a valuable source of intel." Everyone was in disbelief.

"I profusely apologise for acting without consulting you, Ainz-sama."

"You believed what you were doing was the best for Nazarick, I understand this, but let me just say this: I don't want to ever see you doubting each others loyalty based on limited information or personal issues. Am I clear?!" Ainz used his serious reprimanding

"Yes!" it came from what sounded like a practised unison.

Aura and Mare were then called to the throne where his briefing was held. But even after that Demiurge's wicked smile was nowhere to be seen. Ainz had even been too scared to ask him to explain his great plan so Pandora's Actor did it. If Ainz looked past all actions, as a matter of fact, if he closed his eyes, Pandora's Actors' words were understandable and his preconceptions were as far fetched as Demiurges.

Albedo seemed to agree so he couldn't very well tell his creation he was spouting nonsense.

Sebas ... seems inspired. Demiurge looks even more hurt, he's not cringing is he? He seemed to get along with Pandora's Actor fairly well, why now? I'll ask him to stay. Everyone else seems to find this ... normal.

Everyone but Demiurge remained in the throne room.

I'll start nice and easy. Maybe this means Ulbert-san didn't like me very much.

"You seem bothered. What's weighing on your mind?"

"My deepest apologies, My Lord. I was irrational. Please I beg you punish me for this folly."

Eehhhhhhhhh

"No it's fine Demiurge. Knowing you it won't happen again right?"

"I will strive to do so, but please as one of Nazaricks most rational minds ..."

Ainz put a hand up to stop Demiurge, he knew the NPC's well enough to know that it would leave a splinter in his heart for the foreseeable future.

Maybe I should give him some menial task ... no, he'll see right through that. Haaah, I'm a terrible boss for suggesting this but here goes nothing.

"I'm putting you and Sebas on a mission. He will be in charge but see that the boy achieves his race change. How much time do you think you'll need?"

"Maybe three months, my Lord."

"Demiurge, you won't be allowed back in Nazarick for the entire duration of this mission, now how much time do you need. I would rather not lose a vital brain for too long."

"It will be in done in two months, sire."

Ainz kept his voice stern. He wondered in his heart if he was doing the right thing. Demiurge was smart and one who could actually learn from the mistakes of others while somehow making it seem like it was Ainz's plan all along. Ainz was certain Demiurge was covering up his failures.

"Not that I am complaining, but didn't you put Albedo in charge of that."

Ainz wanted to cry, he wanted to beg forgiveness for his very forgetful mind because he certainly didn't know.

"It's fine, I'm sure she won't mind you taking a bit off of her workload as you did for her."

"I didn't even think of it like that. Sasuga Ainz-sama."

Eh? Ah? EH?!

"Very well. Now I'll leave you to inform Sebas."

"Ha!" he said walking out almost trembling.

Ainz teleported into his bedroom, after making sure no one was around he threw himself on his bed.

Ainz was well aware he had bad ideas. As a matter of fact if ever there came a time where he was forced to make a decision he was certain it would be the wrong one, just like what he had just done.

I want to die. Why do they want me to be so harsh? Playing the tyrant with my friends children is too much! I was so vague with his mission I didn't even tell him where to go. Ah, it's Demiurge, he'll start thinking there's a deeper meaning to it or something.

"Haaah. I hear the City States are hosting events soon, maybe I could get a few ideas for when the whole country is rebuilt. Yes. That sounds like a plan."

Sebas found that a demon was on the other side of the door to his room when he opened it, this was probably most likely going to be unpleasant.

"Demiurge-sama, what can I do for you?"

"Ah, you don't need to use that title with me. May I come in?"

"Of course."

The demon seated himself and waited for Sebas to sit as well.

"I will be blunt, I made a mistake. I apologise." Sebas wasn't a stranger to Demiurges apologies, but usually they always felt pompous and fake, but this one was genuine.

"From one whose been in your position before, think nothing of it." This should have ended their meeting.

"I know what you're thinking, but unfortunately you'll have to get comfortable with my presence for another two months. Ainz-sama has tasked us to seeing that the human boy becomes an imp in that time. Of course, you're in charge of this mission."

Why am I being punished as well?!

"Don't worry, I will not overstep my bounds. I was the one in the wrong but I still pride myself with being able to work well with others despite ... anyway also I feel that Ainz-sama wants us to have a more amicable relationship coming out of this. If we complete this mission we'll have completed three of the supreme ones goals, there may be other underlying purposes."

He reads minds. He's insufferable. Wait what's the third thing?

"So where will we be going to complete this mission?" Sebas' work in E-Rantel was easily transferable.

Demiurge froze and in that one movement even Sebas could tell that he didn't have an answer to that.

"Maybe you should ask Ainz-sama if he didn't tell you."

"No, there must be a reason behind it, maybe by putting you in charge he wants you to choose." Demiurge said thoughtfully.

Sebas wasn't one to argue – most of the time – and this was one of those moments. Though Demiurges line of thinking was sometimes too far fetched he seemed to know their masters' plans best and for the sake of Nazarick and the last supreme being he was certainly going to go along with this despite his own feelings.

So to anyone reading this, this counts as my double upload it was a 2-1 vote in favour of writing this story so I did. For a half-baked idea I hope it isn't a half-baked story. Reviews more than accepted! Should this story continue or die right here, it's your choice! maybe I should have written to read at your own discretion ... anyway like I said before I was interested in this because it would never become cannon but I tried to keep it as real as possible and not just pulling the most random plot out of a horses ass. Special thanks to Sanadan and shreesha123456789 for entertaining this idea. Your votes matter!
