What happened? Her dark brown eyes scanned the blackened void of nothingness around her. An endless space between something and nothing. She tried to speak, yell for help but nothing worked, no sound escaped her lips. Her thoughts were loud enough for her to hear.
"What happened to mom and dad?" She quickly asked herself, "Ken?"
She tried to remember what had happened before she found herself in the void but her mind blanked out as she can't recall even what she ate that morning. Her dad would find her. He always came to her rescue, just like he did when she was eight when she and Kenny fought over something dumb. She can't recalled clearly what it was but it was something utterly stupid. She choked out an inaudible laugh at how naive she was – still is if she found herself stuck in a place her parents can't reach her.
She was still dressed in her blue jeans, wearing a green cat shirt with the number ten, in black, on the left side of the shirt with her father's hand me down converse shoes he would have given to Kenny just like he had given him the Omnitrix when he was ten. What did she get? A couple of charms which she didn't have on her person. She wished she did. Wished that she didn't throw a tantrum about Kenny getting all the cool and interesting stuff while she got charms, books and clothes. Wished she didn't have to listen to her brother brag as he helped dad save the day. It wasn't fair that she didn't get anything as amazing as a replica Omnitrix. The ability to switch between different aliens fascinated her to no end. She even asked her dad how it felt. He told her that he still felt like himself but with a different body every time. She wished she didn't run away all the time and go to Aunt Gwendolyn's house, the same person she was named after. She got treated way better there than her own home. Aunt Gwendolyn would always try to cheer her up and tell that her father loved them both equally. She spoke fondly of her father every time she came to her house. Not once was she angry at her for running away or screaming at her parents. She understood, even if no one else did.
She would always go back and apologize to her parents and her dad would always welcome her back, giving her a hug. Her mom would chaste her, warning about the dangers of running off and not letting them know if she was alright or not. A hug and a kiss later she had then walked to her room but stopped as she made her way to Kenny's room. She didn't hate her brother, she loved him just as any other sister would love their brother and vice versa. Kenny was the older one by ten minutes, if you can believe that, and would always try to make his sister feel special just as their parents make him feel. That night she walked into his room and he was awake, his eyes red, cheeks stained from the crying. Probably thinking it's his fault she ran away…again. One small gesture and the two siblings hugged it out. She stayed there with him that night, stayed in his room and told him that it wasn't his fault for what happened. It never will be.
Curling herself into a ball in the emptiness of the black void. She tried to think of the good times. The time she and Kenny pulled off the biggest prank in school and got away with it. The principal was still trying to figure out who it was. The time she and her dad would visit Galvan Prime and she got to meet Azmuth. He was a lot grumper than her dad described. That time when Uncle Kevin would show her how to hotwire a car as well as changing its engine. She tried to take her dad's car for a joy ride that one time. When Aunt Gwendolyn showed her the wonders of her heritage, an Anodite, a living being made up of pure energy. She was amazed to learn it and asked why she parades as a sorcerer. To which her Aunt smiled and told that her heritage doesn't define who she is and that she chose to be a magic user. Aunt Gwendolyn's loving smile along with her flowing red head always made her smile. She would always give her a hug or two making her feel better in no time. That time when Devlin came to live with them. The young Osmisian was very shy in the first week but opened up later and became part of the family very quickly. She still remembered when they pulled a prank on Kenny using his ectonurite powers to make it seem like a ghost was haunting his room.
Tears streamed down her tanned skin as she hugged herself tighter trying to make the pain go away. They weren't coming, the thought crossed her mind just as fast as it went away. She didn't know why – she always knew her dad would come save her, bring her back home – but he's not coming to save her. They're not coming. Not Aunt Gwendolyn, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Rook, Great Grandfather Max, not Kenny.
No one.
She cried, she couldn't hold it. But the sounds of her sobbing didn't leave her mouth, it made no sound. Her mouth opened, she screamed, she yelled, she raged but nothing made a sound. She wanted out! Wanted her parents, her brother and her family by her side! She wanted to see them and hold them! She wanted to say sorry for the bad stuff she did and say. She wanted to…wanted to be with them again. Wanted to see them even for just a minute.
Dad…mom…Kenny…anyone, help me, please.
"You…shouldn't be here, Miss." A voice called out, a voice that wasn't hers and she heard it, someone talking to her inside this void. She looked up(?) from her curling position and saw an older looking man with a cane in hand 'standing' – more like floating – in front of her. He wears a white trench coat with goggles hanging around his neck. His right hand, the one holding the cane, is a blue cybernetic arm. He was dressed like those old sci-fi films he dad showed her once only this time she felt as if she knew this person.
"Who…who are you?" No sound escaped her lips still but she wiped away her tears with her right hand and stood up looking at the man up and down, "I don't think I've ever seen you before."
"Hmm," The man hummed as he pulled out his golden pocket watch, opening it, "This is truly unusual, Miss Tennyson, even by my standards."
Her eyes grew wide at the familiar way he was talking to her, "Y-You know me?!" Again, no sound but the man looked up from his pocket watch and smiled sadly at her.
"Maybe this will help."
He tapped his cane into the empty void as a ripple effect started happening as a branch of a tree started forming all around her. But it was an ethereal light blue that surrounded them all looking like tree branches – branching off in different directions throughout the empty void.
"Woah," What she was seeing. What she was witnessing was truly beautiful. It was like looking at the stars from the rooftop of her house only a lot closer.
"Beautiful, isn't it." The man from before spoke and walked towards her, the pocket watch still in hand, "But I must say, Gwendolyn, that you shouldn't be here."
"You know me?" This time the sound escaped her lips and she gasped slightly as her own voice. She can hear herself talk again.
"Indeed," He solemnly spoke then closed his pocket watch, "But I'm afraid taking you home wouldn't be the best idea or I should say, taking you home is not ideal since you don't exist at the moment." She froze in place, her skin grew cold at what he just told her. She didn't know the person before her but she knew he was serious or more accurate to say he didn't lie and was telling her the complete truth.
"W-What?"
"Make no mistake, you are still alive and well seeing as you were trapped in the void for who knows how long but technically you don't exist, in any timelines, well not any existing timelines," He looked away in thought for a moment before extending his robotic hand forward a smile plastered on his face, "Professor Paradox at your service."
She shook his hand and the name hung in her head for a moment. Paradox? She heard about him before. Her dad had mentioned about working with a man capable of travelling not only through time but dimensions as well. But–
"W-What do you mean," Her voice nearly broke as she tried to hold back her tears, threatening to stream down her face again.
Paradox sighed, "It like I said, young Tennyson, you are an anomaly. A being that should and should not exist yet at the same time you arrived here at all places." He gestured towards the empty void being lid up by the ethereal tree branches. Before she could ask again Paradox held up his hand to her, "Allow me to finish, Young Tennyson." Her mouth closed shut as she listened onwards.
"What I meant was, a person can't exist outside of their own timeline willingly, unlike myself who is a time walker, I can move freely from one place to another. You on the other hand should not be here, you're outside of the timeline you are meant to be in and I've looked through the countless future timelines of Ben Tennyson but I don't see you there, I don't see your timeline. That being you exist and not at the same time because whatever happened to you," He pointed his cane at her, "You managed to survive and be sent into the void of nothingness."
He finished and she took it all in. It wasn't possible. Her dad told her how the multiverse, how the timelines work and how every action has a consequence, everything you do will be done in another timeline or universe. It didn't make a lick of sense at the time since her dad was drunk and started talking about multiverse theory. Both she and Kenny knew it was real and didn't doubt their dad for a minute.
"But isn't the multiverse infinite with infinite possibilities," She spoke up her arms outstretched as she tried to make sense of it all, "Surely there must be one universe where I survived or alive! Professor, there must be a way I can–"
He cut her off, his cane now pointed downwards and it seemed the 'ground' ripple when it touched, "Your timeline has been erased and replaced with a new one that follows the same path; the only exception is that you weren't born."
Tears were streaming down her face for the second time. Her vision blurred by the tears as she tried to wipe it away before they stained her cheeks again but it didn't work. She was still crying. She was replaced and forgotten.
"Don't cry, Princess, Daddy will make it all better, alright." Those were the words of her father. The same one that said she should hold out hope for him to rescue her. Here dad never lied and always kept his promise.
"Wherever you are my little angel, know that we love you and will always be there." Her mother, always loving, always strict, never looked at her wrong, didn't think she could do wrong even.
She didn't know how long she cried or even if Paradox disappeared for a second leaving her alone but when she looked up the man was still there, giving her a warm smile. He didn't move, he didn't get closer he just looked on with pity in his eyes. He knew what she was going through right now. Paradox may have long since lost his humanity but he still sympathises with people.
"What happens now?" She asked, hiding back the fear in her voice. It didn't work as her body started to tremble at what would happen next.
Again the time walker hummed as he closed his eyes in thought, "Usually I or any other time walker would erase an anomaly but just this once will I go against their code." He opened his eyes, his smile never faltered as he watched her expression change from horror to relief in seconds.
"Does it mean I can go back?"
Again hope filled her voice but she knew – knew in her gut deep down – that it wasn't the case here. Her whole timeline was erased then replaced with an exact copy without her in it.
Shaking his head, Paradox spoke up, "Afraid not, but I can give you a chance to live out your life as you see fit."
"Oh, I get it."
She said solemnly, but smiled nonetheless as she got a second chance at life, another chance to make something off her life for once. Whatever happens, wherever she ends up now, she'll make the most of it. Without another word Paradox waved his hand in front of her as she glowed light blue and she, alone with the man outside of time, vanished leaving the void to be empty again.

Omnitrix City is the home to the hero of heroes, a city he built from scratch with the money he saved up for years working for the Plumbers. It was the first city to accept aliens and have them coexisting together rather than try to kill each other. The city was the definition of advanced technology and Tennyson Tower standing at the epicentre of the city. This was the place for aliens to live like they belong somewhere and not have to hide. It was a safe haven so to say. But even the safest cities still have their fair share of crime.
In the downtown bank a group of alien mercenaries armed with highly advanced guns were robbing Omnitrix City Bank. The group consisted of two Tetramand, a Loboan, an Incursean, a Appoplexian, and a Citrakayah.
The Incursean aimed his weapon at a bank resident and yelled at them, "Be quiet or else I'll make you!" He croaked out at the person, a human, disgusting. The human shut its trap and kept their crying to a bare minimum but he still heard it. He scoffed.
He along with the Loboan and Citrakayah were keeping the people at bay while the two Tetramand and Appoplexian were getting the money. He hated Earth with a passion and he would much rather watch it burn than be on it. He didn't choose this life. He was thrown into it. Going to gang after gang and avoiding the Plumbers as well as Earth's police was starting to be a pain. He was once a soldier for the mighty Incursean Empire now? Now...now he's a bloody gang member trying to make ends meet. It was bad enough that he had to listen to that spoiled brat but now he was being ordered around by a Galvan of all species! If only he got his hands on those nice level 12 laser blasters that's been making rounds throughout the underworld of the city, then he would show that shrimp whose boss.
"How long are they gonna make us?" The Citrakayah, Aster was it, spoked up with annoyance in his voice as he zoomed back and forth between the two groups of hostages. He and the Loboan, Hound, were each taking one group. Since the feline could run fast it made sense for him to keep an eye on a larger group.
"Slow your roll, Aster, we're just as impatient as you," Hound shouted back to him, his eyes trained on the people in front of him.
"Say you, mutt!"
"Come again kitty kat? I didn't hear you over all that garbage you're talking about!"
This was his life now. Dealing with an impatience Citrakayah and a loudmouth Loboan who can't for the life of him shut up. Probably why they're here instead of the vault getting the money. He wanted to say something, shut their traps and wait for the others to arrive but he kept quiet and listened to their argument back and forth. The hostages looked sacred as hell, as if the two would start fighting at any moment. He wouldn't mind if the two fought and killed each other, it means more pay for him but they were here for a reason and the boss knew it just as well. He didn't like a loud crowd and preferred to kill people on sight but with this being Omnitrix City and the home of Ben 10K, only crazy people would kill others in this city. And he wasn't crazy. He knew if Ben 10K was after your ass, you better pray to whatever God or deity you believe in that he won't catch you soon. The guy still makes jokes but it's rare when he isn't and then people start to get worried.
"Looks like I'm late to the party," An unfamiliar voice calls out and the trio of aliens aim their weapons at the person making themselves known. Stupid, if you ask him. "I can still join in on the fun, right?"
The person in question was a human(gross) wearing a white armoured jumpsuit with white boots that had a booster at the side, with a green scarf around his neck and a white helmet. He currently stood with his hands on his sides as he looked at them behind his visor.
"Sure, buddy, let's have some fun!" Aster, the dumb cat, rushed in with his superior speed leaving his blaster behind. He wanted some fun on the job, not this baby sitting duty they all got. But as they watched their fellow Citrakayah rush at the new arrival, he slipped on an iced floor and sped past the hero and into the concrete wall creating a dent in it. Both criminals in arms only watched this display in shock. Of course he would have ice the floor while he was talking.
"Idiot," Hound muttered underneath his breath.
"Well, that was underwhelming, guess that guy could cool off once he's in prison." No one laughed, not even Hound who found everything funny, "Oh, come on it's hard making puns when they've all been used before," The guy complained and it reminded him a little of Tennyson. The wielder of the Omnitrix would always try to get a pun in before, during and after a battle. It annoyed some of the gang but others are used to it.
"Tough luck kid you're puns all are up, just like this life of yours," Hound aimed his blaster and was ready to fire but a blur sent him flying to the ground.
That same blur then came after him as he was knocked onto the ground with his blaster missing in action. He sprung to his feet again as he saw the blur approaching him for a second strike. He kicked out his leg and missed his attacker by far as a hand grabbed his leg and his whole world was spinning but he landed back on his feet alongside Hound, who just now recovered.
Something stopped dead in its tracks next to the kid and he paled once he saw who it was. The person's skin is slightly pale with his black hair tied in a messy ponytail with his sides being cut leaving a spiky head on top, his obsidian eyes stared at them. The person was dressed in a hoodie, torn up jeans reaching his knees, a padlock with the number 11 around his neck and some sneakers. Compared to the person next to him, the kid was about an inch or two taller than him. What made him pale wasn't that he was a kid who just kicked his ass but the kid in question was the son of Kevin Levin. Once a villain like them but turned good after spending enough time in the null void, bloody pansy.
"Don't tell me these chums are giving you a hard time, Spanner?"
He even sounded like Levin when he was this age and Spanner? The Incursean heard that name before but he didn't think that person would show up. A man dressed in green, able to teleport before you can blink, able to beat a whole gang of aliens without breaking a sweat. That Chrono Spanner!? Now that he got a closer look at him, he did match the description given to him by the boss. Not much is known about him except that he appeared two months ago starting his vigilante career here in the city. The Plumbers didn't bat an eye at him since he didn't do anything outside of bringing criminals in.
"No, you should see the Citrakayah who rushed me. Dude didn't even see the floor that was iced, it was hilarious," Chrono Spanner laughed at what had happened moments before, "Anyway, it's these three here holding the hostages then the other three in the vault. I hacked the security locks making it a lot tougher for them to get the money on time." He explained and it all clicked as to why they were taking so long. Their plan backfired the moment they appeared here. The guy was here this whole time and they didn't even notice till he made himself known.
Devlin gave a low whistle, "Damn, remind me not to piss you off so much or else you might just hack me."
He gave a low chuckle to his partner who wanted to say something snarky in return but Hound didn't let them. His maw opened up and he let out a sonic roar which prompted the two heroes to move out of the way. Chrono Spanner lit up his jet boots and hovered away from the attack while Devlin moved to the side with speeds that would put Aster to shame.
"Enough talk! Let's fight!"
The Leboan roared out as he charged for the Osmosian on all fours and let out another sonic roar which missed its mark. Devlin shifted his right arm into a petrosapien arm he got from his father. His entire right arm was now a large mind green crystal arm as he shifted his hand into small crystals and fired them at the charging Leboan. Hound waved to and fro from the long range attack as he opened his maw again letting out a sonic roar which shattered the flying crystals. He was on him as Devlin made a shield with his right arm, the Leboan slashed with his claws which didn't even dent the taydenite shield. Hound then went for an overhead kick but a bright light blinded him for a second as his instinct told him to dodge mid air. Twisting his body out of the way, a blast of fire passed to where his body should have been. He landed on the floor and looked up seeing Devlin had his left arm out.
It was just like his right arm but this time it was covered in molten rock, the crack showing a bright yellow light underneath it. A Pyronite arm. Devlin smiled as his right arm shifted into a long sword and he charged with the same speed he knocked them out earlier. He dodged but a tail then wrapped itself around his leg as he looked down and saw it being black with blue stripes. A fiery punch connected to his face as he tried to claw at Deviln who ducked underneath the clumsy attempt. The tail, Kineaccelerate, then tightens around his leg and was thrown across the room nearly missing the Incursean, who was fighting Chrono Spanner hand to hand.
He dusted himself off quickly then made a beeline towards the other hero. The Incursean saw the opportunity and went for his weapon. But reality seemed to distort and a flash of emerald light blinded him for a second as he clawed at nothing but open air. Not at Chrono Spanner. Hearing a pained yell he looked to his side where his partner should be only to be met with said hero standing on top of the Incursean soldier. Hound wondered how it was possible he moved so fast as not even Levin was able to do that.
He didn't have time to ponder on such thoughts as Devlin then blitzed him again. This time his left hand was shifted to a fist as he nearly evaded the blow to his face but his other hand came just as quickly. The two clashed as Hound found himself on the defensive while Devlin was striking him with everything he got from both Petrosapien and Pyronite hands. He then backtracked trying to get some distance but that was what they wanted as he felt himself slip on what looked like green vomit. He looked behind him and saw Chrono Spanner with an empty file who then pointed to the front of him. Looking at where he pointed he saw Devlin with his left hand outstretched as he then flicked his fingers creating a spark which engulfed the green goo making a chain explosion catching him in it.
After a few seconds of explosion the Osmosian made his way to his time travelling partner. Both bumped fist at a job well as they then freed the hostages quickly before the other three arrived. Once the last person was freed and out of the building they placed their attention to the door leading to the vault. And just like moths to a flame, they appeared. Two Tetramand, both lean with one having a ponytail and the other a mohawk, both armed with weapons on their side as well as carrying sacks of money laughing as the Appoplexian held a energy sword in hand, grumbling underneath his breath about the security. They walked in as if everything was according to plan, that was until they found Hound passed out smoking from the intense heat, Aster laid on the ground with a head injury and lastly the Incursean tied up in energy cuffs with his mask broken.
"What…" The Appoplexian, Libra, looked around and saw the hostages gone and the two heroes standing there. One he recognized as the son of Kevin Levin the other not so much. The two Tetramands let go of the sacks of money and pulled out their weapons, aiming them at their opponent.
"Looks like we got here just in time," Libra commented as he let his sack of money fall to the ground. He pointed his sword to the two of them and smiled like the wild animal he is, "You've doomed yourself, punks."
Chrono Spanner and Devlin looked at each for a moment then to their associates then back to them.
~~~~
Five minutes later the door to the bank opened up as a fully transformed Devlin Levin dragged the two Tetramand's outside by their foot using his lower vulpermancer arms as the police and Plumbers alike watched on. Behind him Chrono Spanner heaved the Appoplexian male, Libra, over his shoulder. The bank needed some rebuilding cause during their fight one of the Tetramand's, was it the one on Devlin's right, planted a bomb onto a pillar trying to blow them all in. Thankfully Devlin was fast enough to throw it high into the air where Spanner shot one of his wrist lasers at it, letting it explode. Both law enforcers apprehended the criminals and said their thanks to the vigilante duo. The Police weren't happy with the results inside. The hostages that have been held captive thanked the duo and as the reporters started swarming them, Devlin flew away using his wings and Spanner teleported without a second thought. They were gonna get a scolding from their parents when they found out about this.
At one of the highest buildings in Omnitrix City, Devlin Levin sat down, his knees to his chest and arms around them hugging as he looked down onto the city they live in. A bust of emerald light appeared then faded revealed Chrono Spanner standing beside him before he as well took a seat next to his best friend.
"Phew, now that was chaotic," Spanner spoke, his voice was deeper due to the modulator in his helmet, as he recalled the events that had happened not even an hour earlier.
"You can take that off you know, it's just us," Devlin said as his eyes still looked over the city he was starting to love. He never hated it nor despised it. He just never felt like it was his home. His father may have had a hand in building it but he didn't have as much care for it as he or his Uncle.
"Sorry," Spanner said before tapping a button underneath his helmet, it retracted as Spanner's face was revealed. His dark brown hair was dampened from the fighting, his green eyes a little darker than his father's and his skin being like his mother's, a darker tone. He coughed into the palm of his hand and looked at the half Osmosian, "Better?" His voice was much clearer and soft than it was before the helmet was on.
"Yeah, better," Devlin smiled lightly as the two best friends, cousins, stared at the afternoon glow of Omnitrix City. Kenny Tennyson loved this city just like his old man and would protect it in a heartbeat if the Hero of Heroes wasn't present. He was still a bit jealous that Kenny got to face a major villain while he was at home grounded. Not to mention Kenny had a secret hero identity as well and he only found out about it after the big bad disappeared. Kenny's parents were obviously mad at him but so was he. He thought the two were close and shared everything with each other but after it was revealed he felt like he didn't know the guy. Granted Kenny gave numerous apologies and told Devlin about his adventure across time and space. Hearing the brunette talk about how he faced Dr.Animo of all people amazed him. He wished he could have gone with but Paradox chose him after all.
"Hey, Dev," Kenny called out and the black haired teen glanced at him. No words were exchanged as the time travelling hero spoke, "Do you ever feel like there's something missing in your life? Like there's someone you don't have but at the same time can't find them."
Devlin has been feeling that lately, but it wasn't someone it was meaning in his life. Both his parents are Plumbers. His mother's a high grand sorcerer and can compete with powerful individuals while his dad isn't all that powerful but he's skilled and even keeping the Rooters – Plumber Black Ops – at bay. Devlin is just there looking after their dog, Zed. That's why he's doing the vigilante gig along with Kenny 'cause he wants to find meaning in what he was doing.
Instead of answering how he feels Devlin decided to pull one under him for all the times he was Chrono Spanner, "Dude, sounds like you need a girlfriend."
Immediately Kenny's cheeks and ears turn pink as he looked at the black haired teen beside him, "No, it's not that and know it," He kept his voice level but the heat rising in his cheeks told another story, "Besides what I'm missing isn't someone to love or go out with."
He raised a brow, "Then what is it? This?" Devlin made a circle with his left thumb and pointer finger then used his right pointer finger and jabbed it in the circle. The action made the brunette flush more as he looked away. Devlin laughed and commented about how innocent he was being for not knowing that of all things.
"Seriously, Kenny, if you just want a girlfriend then there are a lot of girls at school who wouldn't mind dating you. I saw how that ectonurite chick was checking you out not to mention the entire second year girls and don't get me started on a few first years," He laughed while Kenny held his face between his hands muttering about killing Devlin later. Kenny was popular there was no contest of who it could be. If your dad's the hero of heroes then people expect a lot out of you. Kenny was the unfortunate kid that had to be born.
"What about you?" He sputtered out peeking out from under his hands, "I saw you talking to some girls as well. What was that one girl's name, Blair? Hollie? Samantha?" He listed the name he can remember off the top of his head.
Devlin shook his head, "It's Ember and she's a nice girl but not my type?"
"Is it because she's hot?"
They laughed in unison at the poorly made pun. Ember is a Pyronite hybrid that was bullied at school for no good reason and Devlin being the kind hearted person he is, helped her and ever since then they have been talking. Nothing serious as per Kenny's imagination but Devlin liked talking to someone who didn't ask him about his mom all the time or dad.
"But seriously, why not, I know we're still in highschool but once we get out there, will there even be time to find someone?" In their line of work, they risk their lives everyday. It still amazed him how his parents wind up together much less Kenny's parents. Between being a hero and a plumber where was the time to relax and enjoy yourself. He didn't know how their family could do it but it was possible, just with a lot of sacrifice. Kenny nodded his head agreeing with his point but if his dad had time for his mom then he can do the same.
Before either boys' could say anything else their communicators beeped to life and a voice they all knew well enough at this point.
"Boys, you have some explaining to do." Magister Rook Blonko spoke over their coms. Both teens flinch at the stern way he spoke to them. Magister Rook was like an Uncle they never had and at the same time didn't need cause he was strict and always took the rules too seriously but would always have fun.
"Uncle Rook," Kenny whined over the coms, "Look we can explain what happened."
"Did not even bother, come to Tennyson Tower then we'll talk." It was an order and both knew what would happen if they didn't listen to him. They still had shivers when talking about the Plumbers restrooms.
"Will Rilla be there as well?" He asked, hoping that was the case. If Uncle Rook was gonna scold them, at least the younger Revonnahgander should be there to lick their wounds.
There was a moment of silence before Rook replied to the boys, "He is, but he is currently doing revision of our Revonnahgander culture. His time on Earth had made him into a punk as of late." Both teens snicker as they imagine Rilla being in his rebellious phase. Rock and roll, tattoos, mohawks, eye liner etc.
"We will Uncle Rook, see you soon."
"You have ten minutes."
And with that he cut the call and the two sat in silence for a second.
"Race you to the Tower?"
Devlin scoffed but held a challenging smirk on his face, "You really think your jet boosters can keep up with a Kinecelearn speed? Or a Lepidopteran flight ability?"
Kenny matched his challenging smirk with his own, "Wanna bet? Ever since Paradox gave this time gizmo I've been pretty good at fast forwarding myself in time, you saw what that Leboan tried to do."
"A cheap trick, Kenny. But I'll race ya." He stood up as the brunette followed his lead but he then jumped off the building before they could start, "Last one there has to explain everything to Uncle Rook!"
Transforming fully and letting his Lepidopteran wings spread out before he took to the skies. Kenny equipped his helmet and jumped off the roof quickly letting his jet booster lift him up high into the sky as he used his time shifting device to move a bit faster. Laugher can be heard as the two made their way to Tennyson Tower, the tallest building in Omnitrix City and Kenny's house.
~~~~
Back at the building where Kenny and Devlin rested for a bit, a wave of ethereal light blue energy glowed out of existence for a brief moment as its glow faded and revealed two people who were there the whole time. Professor Paradox looked down at his watch, making sure the year was right while the girl next to him was holding back her sobs.
She saw him. Both of them. They were alive and well. Kenny had some kinda double life and was named Chrono Spanner able to fight bad guys without the watch. He seemed more skillful and confident to face people stronger than him, able to move faster than a person can blink with a shift of a device on his belt. Devlin looked more comfortable using his alien powers he got from his dad, he didn't seem to think of himself as a monster when he used them. He was having more fun then she had ever seen him even whilst living with them. She heard Uncle Rook's voice and he apparently had a son. She smiled through the warm tears streaming down her face as she fell to her knees, her hands touching the ground below her. She thought she could handle seeing her brother again but she didn't think she would break down like this.
How long had she been in that void? Paradox didn't know and apparently she didn't have any memory, aside from her time in her world, before waking up in that place. The last thing she remembered, clearly remembered was that she was going out with some friends then it was all fuzzy from there. What happened? Why did she get erased? No it's more accurate to ask, how did her timeline get erased then reset as if nothing was wrong? Is she the problem? Why is this so hard! Why can't she just be normal! Why can't she just…
She yelled out in anger and sadness wanting to know why this was happening. Why she felt like her heart was ripped in two just from hearing their voices. Kenny, her twin brother and Devlin, a friend she didn't know she needed until it was taken from her.
How would she react if she met her parents? Would she break down crying apologizing to them as if she did everything wrong? She didn't want to meet them. She can't…won't.
It was just too much.
A hand grasped her shoulder and lightly squeezed it, a reassuring gesture meant to tell others that you're not alone in the world, except she is. She doesn't exist. She's – as Paradox puts it – an anomaly. Someone that shouldn't exist but at the same time does.
Trying to stop her tears from falling she looked up to where her brother and best friend left for Tennyson Tower – her home – then looked at Paradox with glistering tears still falling. Her eyes strained red from the crying and her voice ached from the screaming.
If this was a second chance at life then she would rather die than live this hell.
"Come, young Tennyson let us start your life anew."
