Alright, a bit of explanation. My original account is now gone, I can't access it due to me being dumb and can't remember my google account password. And also since my phone broke and can't change the password on it, so now here we are. The good news is that I can finally force myself to rewrite the first chapter. The bad news is that all my progress on writing chapter 6 is gone and I have to write it again.
For the original book, its just gonna stay like that forever. So to the people that have followed or downloaded that book (Thank you by the way if you did) you can just delete it and follow this one instead.
I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience, due to me not being careful, but I hope this book can actually live out it's life and be finished. With that, I hope you all enjoy the rewritten chapter 1 of this book.
Chapter 1: A Meeting With Eris
The sun rose from the horizon, shooting it's rays of light in every direction and lighted the once previously dark night. These rays of light had entered the bedroom of one particular host. He stretched and yawned as he felt the beams of the sun hitting his face. He groggily got up and wanted to immediately go to their bathhouse for his daily morning routine.
The host opened the door to his bedroom and walked in the halls of his mansion. After walking for some moment, he eventually reached his destination, the bathhouse. He walked inside and went to toilet. After he did his business, he walked to the sink and grabbed his toothbrush. He applied a bit of toothpaste and began brushing his teeth while looking at a mirror. He saw the reflection of his projected image and what he saw was none other than himself, Satou Kazuma.
Satou Kazuma, or just Kazuma, is a level 18 adventurer. He got to where he is today by dying of a heart attack from a tractor back on earth and getting laughed at by his own parents. After that, he was given a choice to either go to heaven, reincarnate as a baby with no memories or to reincarnate in another world, a fantasy one that is. He chose the latter as the other options didn't sound as grandiose as the were presented out to be, especially the heaven one.
Now he is here with a party full of women and living in a mansion. It may sound like the dream to every man but to him, he would've gone back in time and chose the 'reincarnated as a baby' option In a heartbeat if he was given the chance. All would be explained later as he was done brushing his teeth and went back to his bedroom to change.
He got dressed in his usual outfit and went out of his room to cook or maybe go out for some breakfast. He walked for a bit and got to the kitchen downstairs. He decided on cooking breakfast for him and his party, oh and I may have forgotten to mention that his party members live in the same mansion as well.
He decided on cooking the classic pancakes and got to work. Grabbing eggs, flour, milk and mixing them together to create a batter. He got the pan heated up just right and began cooking them with ease. The smell from the cooked pancakes began flying through every corner of the mansion and it woke up the sleeping beauties that it resides.
"Kazumaaa, do I smell pancakes?" a brunette haired girl with deep crimson eyes rubbed her eyes and groggily asked. This girl is named Megumin. She is a crimson demon, that's why her eyes are red. She is a high-leveled arch-wizard but only knows one spell, that spell being Explosion. She is pretty dedicated and prideful of the fact that she uses this one spell and would not budge when someone asks or recommends her to use other, more advanced spells.
"Yes I am Megumin. Go sit on the chair and wait bit, it's still not cooked yet." He mentioned his hand towards the chairs that are tucked beneath their kitchen table. She obliged and grabbed one of the chairs, and sat on it to wait.
"*yawn* Good morning Megumin, Kazuma. I see we are eating pancakes this morning." A tall, blonde haired girl let out a yawn and greeted the two. This woman's name is Darkness. She is a crusader but can't land a single hit on a target. She has really high defense but no accuracy. She is also a mega masochist and would gladly be beaten around, eaten or insulted by monsters and humans, hence why her defense is so high.
"Good morning to you Darkness. Could you grab some plates for me? since these pancakes are almost done and I still got some other batches to do." Kazuma answered Darkness and asked her for some assistance.
"No worries Kazuma." Darkness happily helped him by walking into the kitchen and grabbed some plates in the nearby drawers. "Here they are" She settled the plates down on the counter near him.
"Thanks Darkness." He thanked her and grabbed a plate and plopped the pancakes down on the plate, he then gave the plate to Darkness. "Here, give this to Megumin. Oh, and don't forget to bring the syrup out of the cupboards."
She nodded and settled the plate on the counter. She went to the cupboards and brought out he syrup they were gonna pour on the pancakes. She brought the bottle and the food with her and walked to the kitchen table, awaiting was a sleeping Megumin with her head on the table.
"Wake up Megumin, the food is here." She gently nudged her awake, smiling at how adorable she looked sleeping and waking up.
She groggily woke up and blinked her eyes a bit before seeing and smelling the delicious smell the pancakes wore off. She immediately got up all excited without a hint of tiredness and grabbed the bottle of syrup and began pouring it on the pancakes.
"Hey now, no thanks?" Kazuma playfully said as he watched from the kitchen.
"Oh uh, thanks Kazuma." She blushed a bit at her forgetfulness and thanked him for the breakfast. He chuckled a bit and continued on making the rest of the batches.
After a few minutes, he was finally done making breakfast. One for Darkness, another for him and a final one for his sleeping party member. Though, he didn't have to wait long before she came down the stairs and greeted them with a yawn.
"*yawn* Good morning everyo- Is that pancakes I see?" The blue haired girl greeted them with tiredness but woke up with excitement after seeing her favorite breakfast on the table.
This girl's name is Aqua. She is a goddess that was brought down to earth by Kazuma. Why? Well he didn't like how she treated him and chose her as a cheat item to be brought down and here she is. She was an expert Arch-priestess and was very reliable for her boosts, heals and even revive. She only has one problem, a really big problem. She is kinda dumb. She easily gets carried away with alcohol and ends up making debt for the party. Easily gets them in trouble for a lot of things bit she will never admit to it since she un-ironically thinks it's not her fault.
"Yes it is. Go grab a seat since we're all about to start eating. Well, except for Megumin." Kazuma answers her question and motions to the lone chair that is tucked in.
She immediately goes to it and sits down eagerly. She grabs her plate of pancakes, already doused in syrup, and grabs her knife fork and began munching on it.
"*Sigh* once again, no thank you's." He grumble jokingly and began eating with her.
"Well, thank you for cooking is breakfast Kazuma." Darkness thanked him after she heard him say that.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Your welcome, I guess." He blushed at the thanks she gave as he didn't really expect it. She giggled a bit at his answer before starting to eat her breakfast as well.
Time passes on as the party ate in silence with Megumin sleeping on the table again. Kazuma saw his party happily eating his pancakes and also saw the beautiful morning sky with birds flying and chirping outside the windows. He himself feeling happy as well and thought that this day was gonna be the perfect day to just sit back and relax with tea by his side.
That all changed though as after they were done eating, Aqua spoke up and asked Kazuma a question.
"Hey Kazuma, Can I talk to you for a bit." She shyly asked him. More of guilt than normal.
"Uh yeah, sure." He began taking suspicion at her tone when asking that question.
"Well, um, can I, like, borrow some... eris for a bit?" She looked to her side after asking this.
"Oh, and why is that?" Kazuma didn't like where this was going.
"Oh, um, is just that, I kinda have a debt to pay like, a 1,000,000 eris to a bartender." Aqua nervously answered.
"You, absolute, IDIOT! Of course I'm not giving you that money!" He shouted and woke up the poor sleeping Megumin up.
"What?! You should definitely give me the money! not only because that I am a goddess, bit also since he's traveling to this place at this very moment!" Aqua lost all of her guilt and nervousness and retaliated back with petty anger.
"Wait what?! You gave them our address?" Kazuma now saw how this situation could turn out horrible.
"Of course I did! They were gonna ban me if I didn't answer." Aqua cried out as she gave her reasoning as to why she gave them their address
"Huh? So basically, you gave them our address not because they were gonna beat you up or something, but because they were gonna ban you from their bar? Man, I really should've chosen that second option." He sulked at his situation.
"Yeah I did! it was my favorite bar and I didn't want to get banned so there's that. So how about it? are you gonna give me the money or what?" Aqua demanded as she herself is scared at what the bartender would do if they come here and not get their money.
"Alright fine, you win. But we're gonna do a quest after this alright?" Kazuma answered in defeat and reached out to his purse and gave out the money.
"Wait what?! It's a Sunday, we never do quests on sundays." Aqua dreaded as this day was supposed to be her relaxing and lousing around eating and drinking booze all day.
"Yeah well, we wouldn't have to if you didn't drink all night Aqua. So SORRY that that we have to do a quest to pay off YOU'RE debt." Kazuma said with anger in his voice.
"Ka-ka-kazuma, *sniff* you're so mean." Aqua now cried like a baby with fake hot tears coming out of her eyes to try and gain a bit of empathy from her other party members.
"Oh Kazuma~ your such a brute to make Aqua cry like that~. If you have any frustrations, please don't hold back and take them out on me." She let out a moan and blushed hard at the sight.
"Hey Kazuma, maybe you should hold back and not make Aqua cry like that. Oh, and stop screaming. I want to go to sleep. zzz" Megumin gave her opinion on the matter and went back to sleep.
"What?! oh you guys suck a lot you know." Kazuma smacked his forehead in defeat and marched back to his room to grab some supplies for their upcoming quest.
Grumbling in frustration that his day of relaxation was ruined. Now you see why he would travel back in time in a heartbeat.
We now see our party walking inside the guild hall after having to pay off the debt to a very angry bartender. Kazuma and the gang immediately went to the quest board to search for some quests. As Kazuma was searching through the many quests that that they could do, the girls decided to hell him out a bit and search with him as well.
"Kazuma Kazuma, look at this quest!" Megumin grabbed the flyer and showed it to him. "It says here that there's a pack of wolves that needs to be exterminated. With that many targets, I could just use Explosion and blast them all away into pieces. Plus, the pay is 1,000,000 eris! That's enough to pay off our debts." Megumin pitched in excitement at the thought of using Explosion on a pack of hungry wolves.
"Absolutely not." Kazuma dismissed her and went back to searching. Megumin herself looking dejected at how easy he dismissed her.
"Kazuma-san, here's a quest where we have to fight a giant sand worm. The pay is 900,000 eris so it's pretty good." Darkness showed him the flyer and talked all normally before having that normality all shattered. "Oh~ could you imagine how fun it would be to have that worm wrap around you with immense strength and eating you up in it's slimy and warm interior~? Ooh, I feel like I could die from pleasure just thinking about it~."
"What?! No I can't imagine it! And no, we're not taking that quest." Kazuma said in disgust and dismissed her. Darkness also sulked with a bit of pleasure on her face.
"Kazuma Kazuma, how bout' this one for change." Aqua spoke up and showed him a flyer. "It says that there's a dragon that recently flew in a cavern nearby and is making it it's den. We have to slay it and the pay is a whopping 10,000,000 eris! We should really pick this one you know." Aqua said in excitement at the huge paycheck it would give.
"That is never going to happen in a million years! Dou you WANT us to get killed or something?" Kazuma shut her down quick at the stupid request.
"But-but Kazuma, the pay is high! And I can just revive you if you die." Aqua pleaded as she really wants to take bigger, more higher paying quests for change.
"The pay doesn't matter if we die. Do you really think that reviving is gonna solve everything? Plus, I know you'll be useless since you're just gonna run around scared and cry all the time." Kazuma let out his final reasoning and went back to searching for quests again.
"What?! that's not true Kazumaaa! Your so mean to me." She once again cries hot tears and goes to the table with her other party members.
"*Sigh* What a troublesome goddess." He sighed and searched again for some quests where they could actually do and not die. "Man, where are all this easy quests at? Their all super hard." Kazuma let out in frustration as he saw quests ranging from killing stone golems to defeating a necromancer.
"Um, maybe I could help you out." He heard a voice coming from his left side.
"Oh, nice to meet you Yunyun!" Kazuma greeted his friend.
This girl's name is YunYun. She is also a crimson demon like Megumin, except not useless according to Kazuma. She knows a lot of advanced spells and will eventually be the chieftain of her village. Kazuma always wanted to bring her into the party but Megumin would always get mad at that and even threatens Kazuma and YunYun of she joins in. Oh, and she is also the self-proclaimed rival towards Megumin. She is also shy and never had any friends except for Megumin, though she never admits that.
"Ni-nice to meet you too Kazuma-san. Um, I see that you're looking for a quest. Mind if I help you out? I'm sorry if it bothers you." YunYun shyly asked.
"Of course you can help me. Oh, and please don't think I'm bothered or annoyed that you're asking YunYun. You're my friend YunYun." Kazuma accepts her offer and reassures her of her stances.
"O-oh, then I'm glad I could help." YunYun shyly celebrates and went to the quest board to search with him. She was overjoyed at hearing him say that she's his friend, but felt a bit sad that he called her a 'friend'. She didn't know why but her heart stung a bit hearing that.
They searched together and YunYun found a quest where Kazuma might be interested in.
"Kazuma-san, how about this quest." She shakily gave the flyer to Kazuma. " I-it says that there's a group of bandits camping in the forest nearby. We need to take them out and the pay is 100,000 eris a head." She explained it's contents.
"Huh, this is actually pretty easy. I think we might take this quest. Good job YunYun. Oh, and thanks for searching with me." Kazuma decided on taking this quest and thanked her for her assistance.
"No-no problem Kazuma-san. It's really nothing." She stammeringly answered his thanks and looked to her right in embarrassment.
Kazuma smiled at her adorableness and went to the counter where he met the receptionist named Luna to get their quest approved.
As he got back, He announced to his party that they will be taking this quest.
"Alright everyone, listen up. We're gonna be traveling in the forest and kill some bandits, got it." Darkness nodded approvingly, same with Megumin. Though Aqua gave a 'hmph' as a sign that she also understood.
"Hey YunYun, why don't you come with us? It'll be fun." Kazuma saw YunYun sitting on a bench beside a table alone and wanted to make up her day by letting her join in.
She perked up at the request but looked down again as Megumin spoke up her mind on the matter.
"Absolutely not! She is not coming with us." Megumin spoke up with anger at the thought of YunYun joining them.
"What's the matter? She can be a pretty good help with dealing a group of bandits." Kazuma was kinda annoyed at her stubbornness to not let YunYun even help them in a quest.
"What? you think I'm too useless where you would need her to help? We already have an arch-wizard, she's called Megumin. We don't need her in this quest alright?" Megumin talked back as she didn't want to be replaced by YunYun.
"Megumin, please. You're not useless, but we could get some extra help if she joins us. Do you understand?" Kazuma pleaded with one last reasoning before Megumin set her foot down.
"Oh I understand, I just don't agree with it. She's not coming with us alright." Megumin gave her final verdict and went back to her sit all grumpily.
"*Sigh* The things that I deal with. I'm sorry YunYun, but you can't go. It seems Megumin here might blow the two of us up if I let you join. I'm really sorry and I hope I can make it up to you." Kazuma sighed and approached YunYun with the final decision.
"Oh, it's okay Kazuma-san. I would just be a hindrance if I were to join." YunYun understood him and gave a forced smile to him.
"YunYun, please don't say that. You're not a hindrance, you're powerful and you're also my friend. I hate for a friend to hate themselves for their attributes." Kazuma reassuringly says while holding her shoulders.
"U-um, you really think so Kazuma-san?" YunYun blushes at his hands being on her shoulders but was taken a back by him saying to not 'hate themselves'. Does she hate herself?
"I know so YunYun. I hope you succeed in whatever goal that you face." Kazuma reassures her again and comforts her with a smile. "Now, I need to go. My party's patience are very thin and would get mad at me if I'm late. See ya later YunYun." He pats her on her shoulder and goes back to his awaiting party members.
"Thank you Kazuma. Thank you so much." She said with tears swelling in her eyes but he didn't hear it as she spoke it in a low voice. Her heart beating twice as fast at the attention he brought to her. She waved a bit before sitting on the bench she was sitting on and reminisce on the moment she just had.
He waved back and soon approached his party members. "Alright, are you ready guys?" They all nodded and got up before heading to the forest where the bandits camp reside.
"Hey Kazuma, what were you talking about to YunYun?" Megumin finally perked up and said after looking at the ground, contemplating for 30 minutes.
"Hmm? you're asking that now? Well, we didn't talk much. I just reassured that she wasn't a hindrance and that's it." Kazuma was confused as to why she took so long to ask but dismissed it anyways and answered her question.
"You didn't, like, talk about replacing me did you?" Megumin asked in a low voice with shadows under her eyes.
"What?! No, of course not! I just told her that she's my friend and not a hindrance. Nothing else!" Kazuma was taken a back by her assumption as to replacing her. He would want YunYun to join 100% but would never kick her out for it.
"Oh, really. Then why did you want her to join us when you already have me?" Megumin said again with her eyes shining a bit of a red, crimson glow.
"Ugh, this again Megumin? Listen, she had advanced spells that could make this job a LOT more easier. Plus, she's fun to talk too if you can open her up a bit." Kazuma explained his reasoning again with an added bonus.
"Oh, okay then. I have nothing more to say." Megumin looked ahead of her and stopped talking to him. Oh no. That, was not a good sign. It means that something struck her mind and wanted to prove it wrong no matter the cost. Kazuma prepared for the storm that was about to ensue from this crimson demon mage.
He sighed, fed up with how his day was going before breaking from his frustrations as Aqua decided to ask a question.
"Hey Kazumaaa, are we there yet? My legs hurt from walkiiing." Aqua whined as she got bored from how long this walk is taking.
"Only a couple of minutes left." He answered back as he looked at the map again and saw how close their destination is getting.
"Uuuggghhh, Darkness, carry me okay?" Aqua whined and walked to Darkness's back, grabbed her shoulders and jumped so that her legs can wrap around her waist.
"Wa-wait Aqua, I-I didn't agree to this?!" Darkness stammered as she almost lost her balance before correcting herself.
"Don't care. Now go, I want to sleep." Aqua said to her before placing her head on Darkness's shoulder and closed her eyes.
"Alright, fine Aqua." Darkness sighed in defeat and started walking again following behind Kazuma and Megumin. She herself is very strong so carrying Aqua was no big deal for her.
After a couple of minutes, The gang soon approached the camp site as Kazuma halted them before pointing to a nearby bush and huddling behind it.
"What's the matter Kazuma? Are we here?" Darkness was the first to speak up.
"Yes, we are." He looked up from the bush and saw the size of the camp and it's inhabitants. "It's a fairly big camp, but not too big where we can't handle it. Darkness, wake Aqua up. I've got a plan."
Darkness nodded and nudged the sleeping goddess awake. "Huh, what's going on? Am I finally back in heaven?" Aqua groggily said as she rubbed her eyes open.
"Not yet at least. Alright everyone, listen up." Aqua was bummed out but listened anyways, same goes for Megumin and Darkness. "I looked at the camp and I have a plan. Aqua, you will boost me and Darkness with stamina, strength and agility. Darkness, you'll go in the front lines and take as many bandits as possible. I will take out the archers as the are in the back. And Megumin, you will unleash Explosion on my signal. Got it everyone?"
They all nodded with Darkness having a nosebleed but quickly wiped it off. "Got it!" The trip all said at once. Though, Megumin said it in a quiet tone.
"Alright, Let's do this everyone." Kazuma said and the battle begins.
Aqua immediately boosted them with the boost that Kazuma had requested. Kazuma immediately went lurk and climbed a tree to snipe out any archers that were in the way. Darkness had ran in with her face fully red in lust. Megumin had taken the initiative stand under the tree that Kazuma was on.
" 'snipe', 'snipe', 'snipe'. Man, there's a lot of archers here. It looks like some of them are hiding in the back." Kazuma used foresight and saw some archers passing arrows and shooting at Darkness.
"Megumin, you stay here while I go to another tree. Don't you DARE cast Explosion alright." Kazuma told and warned her.
"Alright alright, jeez, you think I'm a kid or something." Megumin, annoyed, said that with her rolling her eyes.
"Yes. Yes I do." He said that with a stone cold face and jumped down from the tree and ran to another.
"What?! Why you..." Megumin said in frustration. "I'll show you that I'm not kid that needs to be ordered around." Megumin pessimistically said. From all her pent up emotions ranging from him talking to YunYun, to now, she is definitely going to do something to mess this up.
Kazuma ran and ran until he could find a spot where he had a clear shot at those archers in the back. After a few seconds, he finally found it and went behind a bush as there wasn't a tree nearby. He continued sniping as normal until he heard some grumbling coming from the sky.
He looked up in horror as he heard that sound so many times now, he knew what was gonna happen next. What he saw was multiple circles forming and a laser shooting through it in the middle. The skies began turning red as the circles grew more vibrant and the grumbling grew more loud. Finally, the laser in the middle shone brighter and brighter until the laser created a sphere of fire, it crashing down into the ground.
"Megumin! Stop or else-" It was to late. The spell was done after hearing Megumin shout explosion. The sphere of fire now exploded, creating a ball of fire and fury quickly expanding like a bomb. It's shockwave flew past him and the bushes behind with great speed and noise, knocking him over easily by how close he was.
Soon, the ball of fire quickly dissipated before creating a mushroom cloud that flew in the sky. Now, Kazuma recovered and got up with his ears still wringing from the shockwave. He looked back at the camp and saw a big pile of smoke rising from the impact zone. With smoke now clear, he soon saw just how much damage Megumin had done.
The camp had disintegrated, tents and wool were now scattered across away from the impact zone. Then he saw Darkness in the middle, Laying down with her armour nearly crumbling. He looked in shock and went down to check her.
"Darkness! Darkness! Hey, are you okay? Please wake up." Kazuma ran up to her and huddled beside her. He shook her to try and wake her up.
"Huh, what going on? Kazuma? Where are we?" Darkness soon awoke after he shook her. She was knocked out after the explosion set off. It looks like she was still okay even though her whole body was full of bruises and scratches.
"Oh thank God you're okay. Darkness, you got knocked out after Megumin set off her explosion." Kazuma explained to her after what had happened while she was knocked out for a short time.
"Wait, Megumin set off Explosion while I was here?" Darkness was confused as to why she would set it off when she was still here fighting.
"Yeah, she did. That God damn idiot." He looked to his side in anger. "Listen, I'll talk to her about it later but right now, I've still got some company to kill." He said as he saw in the distance as small groups of bandits came to their way.
"Alright Kazuma, I'll help you out." Darkness said as she tried to get up, but Kazuma stopped her.
"Darkness, are you crazy? You just got hit with explosion and you still want to fight?" He said as he got worried for her.
"Kazuma, I think you underestimate just how much I can handle." Darkness said as she pushed away his hands and got up with a bit of effort.
"Are you sure Darkness? I'm worried you know." Kazuma was still not convinced that she should still fight.
"Kazuma watch out!" Darkness shouted as she hugged him so that her back faces the barrage of arrows that came in their way.
The arrows all hot her back at once and was badly injured. Her defense was high, but was all lost when she got hit from Explosion. So some of the arrows had struck her back.
She looked back and saw some of the bandits that came to their direction. She knew she couldn't handle after the arrows that struck actually hurt really badly. So she gathered her remaining stamina and ran away as fast as possible, Kazuma now in a bridle position.
"Darkness, please stop carrying me! I can hold them off! You can go to Aqua faster if you just leave me!" Kazuma tried to reason with her but she wasn't budging. She knew that leaving him with those bandits wouldn't end well, so she just kept running.
As she was running, another barrage of arrows had been launched and came to their way. Darkness heard the whistling that emitted from the arrows and braced for impact. Arrows had struck her again, with the pain becoming more intense this time around. Though, an arrow had struck the back of her leg and made her flinch. She fell to the ground, dropping Kazuma in the process.
They both tumbled and rolled on the ground before stopping. Kazuma got up first and saw the bandits soon approaching them.
"Damn it... Looks like I have to hold them off." Kazuma looked back at Darkness and saw how she wasn't able to get up and grunted from pain trying to.
"Wait, Kazuma *Gugh* Don't..." Darkness tried to reach him but couldn't as she was hurt from all the pain.
"Don't worry Darkness, I got this." He said, trying to swallow up all his fears and pulled out his dagger, Chunchumaru.
He screamed as he ran and tried to block as many bandits as possible. He casted 'Create earth, Create wind' to an incoming bandit and blinded him, and slashed at him. He then casted 'Create fire' to another and slashed him as well as he got distracted. He tried repeating it again but was slashed by a dagger from another bandit.
"*Ahh* Is that all you got?" He backed away a bit and taunted them. He quickly regretted saying that as a barrage of arrows was heading his way.
He ran to his right, some of the arrows hitting his left shoulder. He grunted in pain. He then saw two bandits running at him. He managed to block one but the other managed to hit him on his right arm.
"Shit, if this keeps up, I'm done for." He thought to himself as he got hit again, this time on his left arm. He tried to to slash at them but they backed away with ease.
Arrows flew again and he tried running away but an arrow struck his knee and he flopped down on the ground.
"God damn it! Why the hell am I so weak? I can't even handle against bandits." He thought in his Head as he tried getting up but was slashed on his thigh by a bandit.
He fell again and was stabbed in the back by the same bandit.
"Shit! it fucking hurts so much! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!" He repeated his thoughts over and over again as multiple stab wounds began forming as the the bandit stabbed his back again and again.
"Why? Why is this happening to me? Am I this useless that I deserve this? I'm so useless. I'm so God damn useless that I couldn't protect Darkness. My parents were right. Please, please make it stop. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!" He let out his final thoughts as he cried in pain and emotion. He then gave out his final breathe after a bandit had struck his neck, cutting off his airway.
Satou Kazuma had died.
"Kazuma Satou, It seems you have unfortunately died." He awoke after he heard the most beautiful and caring voice ever to be heard by man. He has heard this a few times so he already knew who this voice belonged to.
"It's nice to see you again, Eris."
Eris was the name that belonged to the goddess of luck. She had long silver hair with a nicely woven purple and blue attire. On her shoulders were two symmetrical wing shaped pieces. The same one on Darkness but she only has one. Her eyes were a light colored purple.
"It's nice to see you too Kazuma. But our methods of meeting each other should really change you know." She said with worry as every time they've met, Kazuma had to die.
"Dying may hurt, but it's worth it seeing you here." Kazuma tried to come up with an excuse.
"Please don't say that Kazuma. Dying is never worth it to just meet someone. You should value your life more." Eris was a bit taken a back by how casual he dismissed it but reminded him the value of life.
"Hmm, I guess so... Anyways, is Darkness- no, is everyone okay?" He just wanted to know as Darkness was badly injured and Aqua might've been attacked by the remaining Bandits.
"Fortunately, They are all okay." Kazuma let out a sigh of relief. "The bandits all left after they killed you and luckily left Darkness as they thought that she was dead." Eris began explaining what happened.
"Aqua was late to come so she didn't get caught. She was able to heal Darkness and is now resurrecting you as we speak." Eris ended the explanation.
"Hmm, well that's good to hear." He said but didn't realize how sad his voice was. Eris was an expert at hearing or seeing hidden emotions so she decided to ask him.
"Kazuma-san, I hope I'm not overstepping but you sound, sad. Is there anything bothering you?" Eris carefully asked as she didn't want to open up any wounds that he might have.
"Oh, it's nothing. Promise." He said, giving the most fake smile Eris had ever seen.
"Kazuma-san, please don't lie to me. I promise you that this is something that I will never tell anyone about, not even the higher ups." Eris made a zipping motion to try and ease him.
"Are you sure Eris? I don't want to burden anyone with my problems." He asked as he didn't want to have someone solve or care about his inner turmoil.
"Kazuma-san, please trust me when I say that you are not a burden. You never were and never will be. You can talk about all your problems or anything and I will always listen to you and understand." Eris gave the most passionate words that Kazuma had ever heard from her. He almost teared up at how devoted she was to listening to him. He decided now was the time to talk about his problem.
"Hey Kazumaaa, you can come back now! Tell Eris to open the gate so that you can come back!" Aqua had suddenly interrupted their moment and told Kazuma that he could get resurrected now.
"Oh come on really?! Eris, can you cut off Aqua for a minute? I don't want her to hear me." Kazuma was surprised and told Eris to cut communication with Aqua.
"Alright Kazuma-san. And done." Eris with the flick of her finger, easily cut off the intercom connecting not only the konosuba world, but also heaven. So they were truly alone. Just Eris and Kazuma.
"Thanks Eris. Well, where do I start." Kazuma was about to talk about it but didn't now where to start.
"Take your time. We have all the time here." The place that they were in operated differently. So time would usually go slower here than outside.
"Well, um, I, I want to be strong." He stammered quickly, finally getting his thoughts out of his chest. It was fast but Eris heard it loud and clear. He stopped for a bit but continued.
"It, it's just that, I feel like, I'm not strong enough for this world." He continues, "Every damn time we go on a quest, I feel like a burden to them."
"A burden to them. Aqua, Megumin, Darkness. I feel like I'm holding them back. No, I am holding them back. So much that they don't listen to me anymore." He recalled how Megumin launched Explosion without his call.
"We banter a lot, especially with Aqua. But every time they call me those names or, or something like 'weak', I can't help but feel like they're right." He then started having a tear in his eye.
"Are they right, Eris? Am I really that weak? Am I useless in this world? Am I really 'Scumzuma' as they say? Please tell me their right. I know their right. I know they were right." He then had tears coming out of from both of his eyes.
"They were telling the truth. I was just too blind to see it. I remember how they told me how useless I was, that my brother was better than me. How they laughed at me when I died. They were right. They had all the right to laugh at me. They all were." He had now forgotten Eris was sitting across from him. He told these thoughts like he was telling them to himself.
White noise started to block Kazuma's hearing. All he saw was noise. He kept repeating these thoughts over and over again. He didn't even realize how he was full on crying. He was then snapped out from his thoughts as Eris shouted his name.
"KAZUMA! Snap out of it, please!" Eris was now shacking his shoulders.
"Wha-What?" He was then brought back to reality. He felt how his face was moistened, so he touched it. "Did I cry? Man, I really am useless." He chuckled to himself at his own response.
"Kazuma! Please don't ever say that to yourself!" Eris shouted at him. She knew one trick that will easily ease him. She hugged him. She hugged him tight.
"What?" Kazuma was confused as to why she said that and why she is even hugging him.
"Kazuma, please. Please don't ever say that you're useless. You never were and never will be. Everyone that has ever said that are wrong! Wrong I tell you!" She shouted that last part.
"You are strong. You are the strongest man that I've ever seen. You've died, so, many, times *sob, but you still push through it all." She was also crying as well.
"So it hurts me, to hear you say that you're useless, that you're weak. You're not! You're, just, not." She sobbed in his shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I know I'm supposed to comfort you and here I am crying on your shoulder. But please trust me when I say that those people that say that you're useless, are wrong. Even your parents." She wiped her tears away. It was important on saying that last part. It was the sole reason that Kazuma even had this idea in the first place. It was the foundation that built his entire self-hate.
"Are, are you sure?" He was still shocked at what everything Eris had said to him.
"I Know so, Kazuma-san." She said with reassurance in her eyes.
"Thank you. Thank you so, so much, Eris" He hugged her tight. He then cried on her shoulder just like she did but he cried his heart out. He cried like never had before. Finally letting out all his pain and torment out. They stayed like that for minutes, with Eris patting his back. Her not budging one bit.
After he stopped crying, he let go of Eris and leaned back at his chair. Thinking about life. Eris stood up after he was done hugging and got an idea.
"Hey Kazuma-san, when you get back in the world, go to the guild hall and find Chris."
"Hmm? why is that?" Kazuma was snapped out of his thoughts and questioned why he had to meet Chris.
"Well, Chris may be an expert thief. But she's also knowledgeable in the world and it's system. She'll definitely help you in becoming strong there." Eris Explained to him.
"I know this might be wrong, but I have to have him leave his party. They can not know the powers that I will teach him" Eris thought in her head.
"Are you able to do that Kazuma-san."
"Uh, yes. Yes I can" Kazuma nodded.
"Hmm, good. Now, if you want to stay here a bit more to be hugged, you can." Eris delightfully smiled said as she opened her arms to him.
"Ah, haha, well, it felt good but um, I'm ready to go back." He blushed madly at her offering. She got sad for a millisecond before changing it and smiled.
"Well Kazuma-san, it seems you want to go. I shall open the gates now and you will reincarnate back to the world. Do you have anything more to say?" She asked him.
"Thank you, again, for listening to me Eris." He gave her smile when he said those words. She smiled back as he ascended from the floor and up to the bright sky.
"You're welcome, Kazuma-san. I hope that you will become the one that will save this world. And good luck in your journey. Goodbye, Kazuma-san." Eris made a tearful goodbye as Kazuma shone bright and disappeared from the room that they were in.
Satou Kazuma had been resurrected back to the world.
Author's note:
Hi again everyone. I just wanted to expand a bit and say that this book will be rewritten. So all the chapters will have to wait and be written. The reason why is because that I don't know how to copy and paste my old one since I'm on mobile. So if I type out the all the chapters again, why not just scrap that and rewrite it. Plus, I think my older chapters are poorly written and I want to change it. So here we are now.
I'm sorry if anyone that has to wait a lot longer for any type of progression in this story. But now you are able to read a (in my opinion) better version of my old book. Thank you to all that are patient with me and decided to wait for more. I have nothing more to say so see ya in the next chapter.
