Monarch outpost, Antarctica, 10:30 hours (Military time)
The halls were lit only by the lights of monitors, watched diligently by soldiers. The monitors had readouts and a shape on all of them: a shape which many have come to fear. A shape of a three headed golden skinned dragon with two tails and wings that, when spanned out, is as long as a Boeing airliner. The monitors gave it a name: King Ghidorah.
An officer was watching his men at work to make sure that this beast stayed asleep. Average height, brown hair and eyes, and black skin with a grim expression. A tag on his uniform read: Hicks, and a golden symbol on his collar indicated his rank as a Major. The flag on his uniform was the American flag.
Hicks remembers the showdown between two other monsters: The nuclear lizard god, Godzilla, and the mighty ape king of Skull Island, Kong. One of the few survivors between them, Hicks has served Monarch valiantly. The posting now may not as glamorous, but is the most important posting for Monarch. His task is simple: Keep Ghidorah asleep by any means necessary.
One of his junior officers, a 2nd lieutenant, speaks up. "Sir, Major Hicks, Sir! We are getting some anomalous readings outside the outpost."
"Do we have visual, Lieutenant?"
"No sir! Cameras are down!"
No visuals? That is a problem. If the base is under attack by anything, or anyone, they are unable to identify the enemy.
The ground suddenly vibrates violently. Monitors and screens and files are shaken off walls. Power also gives out. In some areas, entire cabinets give out and crush some of the troops.
A mighty roar is all that is heard, a roar befitting only to a creature of Hell itself. The black of night is revealed by the roof being torn from the building by triple clawed hand, then replaced by a head with a single horn atop a scarlet purple face, two flaps of webbed skin jutting out either side. Major Hicks paled upon sight of the face: Destroyah. Frozen in fear, Major Hicks could do nothing even as the screams of his men fill the air. Fear turned to terror when Destroyah left his view in the direction of Ghidorah.
Moments later, Hicks hears three more roars that are reminiscent of demented cackling, and then the ground shakes once more, and flying across the lunar face he sees Destroyah and a revived Ghidorah flying side by side. His outpost destroyed, and his entire company dead, Hicks fell to his knees, and stared into the sky, despair written across his face.
A despair that has been remotely picked by three agencies from across the globe: His own Monarch, a paranormal agency, and a spy network.
