Chapter 1: Prelude to a Storm
A young girl around the age of 17 was rollerblading down the skate path, nodding her head to the music playing in her ears. She came to a stop as she waved at another girl coming down the hill. She took off her helmet and shook out her dark brown hair as it curled down to her waist. She was wearing a white v-neck tank top, a black and white checkered button-up tied at the waist, blue jean shorts, white skates with black laces and matching gloves and elbow pads, a pair of round sunglasses and the white half of a yin & yang charm hanging around her neck.
The other girl took her helmet off as she approached her friend, "What's up!" The newcomer had black hair that fell straight to the middle of her back and caramel skin that matched her Polynesian heritage. She was wearing a black halter top, a white sweater crop top, blue jean shorts, black skates with white laces and matching gloves and elbow pads, a pair of square sunglasses and the black half of a yin & yang charm hanging around her neck.
"Omg!" The first girl smiled as they clapped hands in their signature hi-five, "Your brother totally needs to be slapped."
"What did he do now, Dee?"
"That idiot was talking to some guy on the beach who was asking him about Tori."
"Who was probably killing it in the water, as usual."
"You've got that right." Dee chuckled, "Anyway, he was laughing and cutting up with this guy and refused to introduce him to Tori. When she asked what was going on, he told her, like an idiot, how the guy couldn't stop talking about her and how he wanted her phone number. And he laughed and said how it was so lame. Lizzy, girl, I thought Tori was going to throw him into the ocean."
"I would have helped." Lizzy, or Elizabeth, scratched her head in frustration, "Shane can be a complete and total idiot sometimes."
"Yeah, he's standing there all confused and she calls him a doofus and walks away." She smirked, "I'm standing there, shaking my head at him as he calls out to Tori, 'Seriously, I can go find the guy!' and I just reach up and slap him upside his head."
"I would have punched him on his shoulder instead."
"That's because you're the annoying little sister who loves to beat up on her pain in the butt older brother."
"At least he lets me. Porter just sneers at me." She wrinkled her brow, "He's such a condescending ass."
Dee laughed, "Well, how about we head to Storm Charges and rag on the doofus some. We can throw our support toward Tori while we're at it."
"Sounds like a great idea."

The girls waved to Tori as they walked up to the action sports store, "Girl, I heard what happened. Don't worry. I've got some wicked plans for him later."
The athletic blonde laughed in appreciation, "As long as you get it on video."
"Oh, we will." Dee and Liz said together.
The girls walked into the store and went directly to the swimwear, "I need some new shorts. My current one is about to fall apart." The other two laughed as they both grabbed new shorts as well and walked to the counter with Tori, where a tall brown haired teen in yellow was talking to another teen in red.
"Hey, dude." Dustin, Dee's older brother, walked over to check them out, "You know," He leaned on the counter, "Shane thinks you're mad at him."
She just rolled her eyes and turned her back on him, leaning on the counter, "Wow, I guess that's why he gets the red suit." The comment caused the two other girls to exchange confused looks with each other.
"Well, what happened?" Dustin asked, completely missing Tori's slip, "I mean, it didn't really sound like a big deal to me."
Dee looked over at her brother like he'd just grown a second head, "You're just as big of an air head as Shane, bro. Come on, dude, get with it."
Tori turned around and faced her friend, "You don't get it, either. I'm a girl. Giiirl!"
"Yeah, I get that," Dustin said, "I know, but, like, the three of you are not like girl-girls..."
"You're like, guy-girls," Shane finished.
The two girls stared in shock at the two boys while Tori got ready to hold back the girls as they were ready to jump over the counter at their brothers.
"Did you seriously just bring us into this conversation?" Liz growled, as she clenched her hands, "I mean, do you really want to go there, Shane?"
"Yeah, Shane," Dee smirked, "tell me. How much of a guy-girl am I?" She leaned on the counter as Dustin backed away, knowing where his sister's mind was going. At this point, Shane was on his own, "Come on, big boy. I'm waiting."
Shane looked back at Dustin in a panic as the store's owner, Kelly, walked up.
"My advice for you both," She stated, sardonically, "stop trying to make it better, because it's only getting worse." She turned around and handed Tori a blue envelop. "This just showed up for you."
"That's weird." Tori said as she opened it, "From where?"
"Don't know. Just found it out back."
Tori pulled out a card and opened it.
"Hey, what's it say?" Shane asked.
"What's it to you?" Dee crossed her arms and glared, causing Shane to shrink away.
"Girls Sport Magazine saw me surfing," Tori answered, "and they want me for a photo shoot. An article about Beauties of the Beach."
"Isn't that the one where they have, like, these incredibly gorgeous girls?" Shane asked.
"Yeah," Tori answered as she looked at him, "so?"
"Okay, well, we'll go back to silent mode now," Dustin told her as he pulled Shane away.
"Smart idea." Liz said as she glared at her brother as Dustin slaps in the shoulder.
"So, are you going to do it?" Kelly asked.
"I want to show them that I'm not just some dopey tomboy," Tori answered.
"Hope that's a good enough reason," Kelly told her before walking off.
Tori sighed as she stared down at the invitation.
"Okay, well, we're going to let you figure out what you're going to do on that. And we'll see you guys later." Liz patted Tori on the shoulder as she looked at Dee, "You ready?"
"As I'll ever be." At Tori's confused look, the Dee laughed, "We have a test today. So, we have some last minute tutoring sessions to make sure we're prepped enough."
"Good luck."
1-2-3-4-5
"Test?" Liz asked as the girls entered an empty clearing on the outskirts of town.
"I'm sorry. I kinda panicked." Dee shrugged as they came up to a crevice inside a mountain side, "We can't let anything slip. Can you imagine how our brothers would react if they knew? They're protective enough as it is."
"True that. However, we're the best in our class. I bet we could take them." They laughed again as they walked out of the mountain. Their faces dropped when they saw that their beloved school was turned into a battlefield, "What the frack?"
They started to run into the fray when a blur caught them and sped them away to some trees. They stared in shock at the sweat covered face of a former student.
"Takeo? What are you doing here? What's going on?" Liz down the hill, freaking out, "Who is attacking this place?"
"His name is Lothor." The girl's eyes widened in recognition, "Good. Then you know who we're dealing with. I've got to go back down and see if I can sneak anymore students out. You two take this." He handed them a wooden box, "You need to get to Blue Bay Harbor and find Sensei Kanoi Watanabe. His school was also attacked. There were three surviving students. You need to join them."
Liz opened the box and saw two large wrist devices inside. One was black and gold with white accents, the other was white and gold with black accents. The girls exchanged looks of curiosity before look back over at Takeo, "What are these?"
"These are the Spectra Ninja Morphers. They're designed to work with the Light and Dark Ninja powers the Academy teaches and will turn you two into Power Rangers."
"Dude!" Dee slapped Liz on the arm, "I told you that the Power Rangers existed."
"OMG!" Liz looked down excitedly and grabbed the Black Morpher. It had a white disk with a black silhouette of an owl on it. Dee took the other one that had a black disk with a white crane on it, "Wait, we haven't been to the Wind Academy since we first became students. I don't know if I remember how to get there."
"I do."
"Of course you do." Liz rolled her eyes, "Crush never went away, did it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah, right."
Dee looked up determinedly, staring at the valley below, "They're taking our Academy and the students. It's up to us to get them back." She turned to Takeo, "Come with us."
"I can't. I need to find my dad. If there's a chance that I can save him, I have to try. You two need to get back to Blue Bay, now!" He nodded at the girls and Ninja Streaked down the hill, determined to find his father.
The girls watched as their school started to get sucked up into the sky, knowing there was nothing they can do but watch.
1-2-3-4-5
The girls decided to go to Storm Chargers until they can figure out a plan of action. When they got there, they saw Tori at the counter talking to Shane and Dustin. Appalled at what she was wearing, they moved closer to listen in on the conversation.
"Did you just crash into the outlet mall?" Shane asked.
"I have to get to Ninja Ops, right away." Tori spoke, loud enough for the girls to hear. When Shane and Dustin leapt up and pulled her to the side, the girls hid behind the wall so they could keep listening.
"Dude, look, I can't," Dustin told her, "I have bikes stacked, like, out the door."
"I really need you guys," Tori said again loudly, "I was attacked by Kelzaks."
Shane and Dustin looked back over at her in shock and the girls had to cover their mouths to keep from crying out in surprise.
"What?" Shane asked, exchanging looks with Dustin. Nodding in agreement, they tugged Tori out the back door, Dustin make some excuse to Kelly on the way.
"Ninja Ops?" Liz asked, smirking at her friend.
"How about them Kelzaks?" The nodding in their own agreement and decided to follow the boys. Something about Tori was making them uneasy.
1-2-3-4-5
They followed the van though a construction zone and came to a halt behind it when the van stopped in front of another Tori in Ninja gear. They crept up to the side, trying to stay out of view, so they can hear the conversation of Ninja Tori and Fashion Disaster Tori.
"Anything you can do, I can do better." The Disaster said, walking to the front of the van, smirking.
"Except pick clothes." Ninja Tori said, ready to attack, "And what is with that hair?"
"You think you're funny?" The Disaster asked, "Bring it on, girlfriend!"
She ripped off the clothes she was wearing to reveal a Ninja Uniform like the other Tori's underneath. The two charged at each as the boys jumped out of the van.
"Dude, we've got to help her," Shane said as he moved to get into the fight.
"Wait, wait," Dustin said as he stopped Shane, "which her?"
Their stood by watching the fight for a moment, trying to determine which Tori was the real Tori. Knowing that they still couldn't tell, they decided to jump in anyways.
"Come let's go," Shane told them.
As the boys moved to help, an alien jumped into the way, startling them and their sisters, who were still hiding behind the van.
"Tori's busy, I heard you say, so Copybott's come to brighten your day."
"Uh?"
"Give you one guess of what I'm thinking right now," Dustin told Shane.
"Reading your mind Bro." Shane agreed as he looked at Dustin.
"Ninja Storm! Ranger Form! Ha!"
"Power of Air!"
"Power of Earth!"
When they finished, Shane was standing there as the Red Ranger and Dustin as the Yellow Ranger. Liz and Dee stared in excitement and shock at their brothers. They guys jumped into action, fighting Copybott with their Ninja Swords as Tori fought her clone.
"Should we help?" Dee asked, chewing on her lip.
"Let's wait and see what happens. This is new to us, we don't want to just jump into anything and cause them any problems." Liz said, staring intently at the fight.
When they were done, the real Tori ran up to the boys, "Guys it's me."
"But, how do we know it's the real Tori?" Dustin asked as their visors snapped up.
"Your real name, is Waldo," Tori answered, "and Shane, your afraid of spiders."
Dustin laughed, "Your afraid of spiders?"
"You want to make something of it, Waldo?" Shane asked him.
"Are you through?" the Copybott asked, interrupting them.
"Look, you guys can get some therapy later on, ok." Tori told them, "I think we've got something a little more important to worry about." Shane and Dustin's visors snapped closed as they faced the Copybott.
"Ninja Storm! Ranger Form! Ha!"
"Power of Water!"
"How about now?" Dee asked as they quit hiding and just leaned on the van.
"In a minute."
"Kelzaks!" the Copybott called, "Get them, I say, attack right away!"
As the Kelzaks charged forward the Rangers pulled out their Ninja Swords.
"Ninja Swords! Combat Mode!"
"Ninja Shadow Battle!" Shane called as he charged forward.
A screen came up with Shane and the Kelzaks' shadows behind it and Shane fighting them off with ease.
"I'll take some of that action!" Dustin called out as he charged forward. Another screen came up with Dustin this time; taking them as easily as Shane had, These are some bad hair cuts."
"If you can't beat them, screen them!" Tori yelled, charging forward as a third and final screen came up. "Power Ranger make over complete." She bragged after defeating the black and red footmen with ease.
"Have a nice day," Dustin said as the Kelzaks fall.
"So you beat the Kelzaks, whoop-de-do," the Copybott said, "you Rangers will pay, by the time I'm through!" The Copybott attacked them and sent them to the ground where they rolled over and onto their feet. "It's over to you, Red, Yellow and Blue."
"Right!" They yelled out, right before they attacked. But, when they brought their Ninja Swords down, the Copybott disappeared.
"Rangers, get up and fight if you have the might!" Copybott rhymed as he reappeared, "Copybott magic for you, it's so tragic."
"I've got a little magic of my own." Tori told him, "Blue Ranger, Flood Attack!"
The ground under Tori's and the Copybott's feet turned into water and they sunk below the surfaces.
"No, I can't swim!" the Copybott cried, "I've fallen victim to your watery whim!"
"Copybott sushi everyone?" Tori asked as she attacked him with her sword. She ended the fight by doing a hand sign, "Ninja Water Blast!"
The attack sent the Copybott flying before he landed on the ground as the other two Rangers regrouped with Tori.
"Lion Hammer!"
"Hawk Blaster!"
"Sonic Fin!"
"Let's put it together!" They yelled as they combined their weapons together.
"Storm Striker!"
"Ready!"
"Aim!"
"Fire!"
The blast hit Copybott, causing him to explode.
Hiding behind a pillar, Dee high-fived Liz in excitement, "That was awesome!"
"Wait." Liz pointed to the sky, "What's that?" They watched as a large scroll appeared in the sky. It hovered over the spot the Copybott had been destroyed.
"I'm not sure." The scroll unrolled, lite up and shot lightning out over the remains of the destroyed monster, "Wait, what's it doing?"
"Omg! He's back!" The saw Copybott, not only regenerate, but grow to the size of a 30-ft building, "And that's why Power Rangers use Zords."
"Not again!" Tori complained when she turned around.
"Look at me!" the Copybott yelled, "I'm as big as a tree!"
"Man, they grow up so fast!" Shane told the others.
"Cam, Zord time!" Tori said into her morpher.
"Here we go!" Cam's voice sounded.
"Cam?" Dee looked wide eyed at Liz, "As in Cameron Watanabe?"
"As in your super geeky crush?" Liz laughed as Dee shoved her.
"Shut up. Here come the Zords."
"Oh, yeah. Front row seats."
The Red Hawk Zord appeared in the sky above them, the Blue Dolphin Zord came by Sea and the Yellow Lion Zord by land.
"Let's go!" The Rangers yelled together before they jumped into their Zords.
"You grow, we grow," Tori told him, "form the Megazord!"
"That is so cool." The two girls on ground looked on in awe.
"Hey, over here!" the Copybott called, "Give this a try. Copybott multiply!"
"Wow!" Shane yelled in shock, "He cloned himself."
"Multiple attack!" the Copybott yelled, "Give them a whack!"
The Copybott and his clones attacked the Storm Megazord, causing them to erupt in sparks and sending them back away from him.
"Dude!" Dee shook her head as the looked on, "That's brutal."
"Cam, we've got a serious multiplication problem here," Tori told him.
"I've got something for you," Cam stated, "I like to call it the Megazord Lighting Mode. You can control it with your inner power, but remember it only lasts sixty seconds."
"It takes longer to make microwavable popcorn!"
"That's all the time we need." Tori said, "Ready guys?"
"We're all over it," Dustin answered.
"Let's go!"
"Lighting Megazord Now!"
"We're a lean mean fighting machine!" Shane said as the Zord started to hop on it's toes like a boxer.
"Ants in your pants?" the Copybott asked, "That's quite the dance! There's so many of me, you don't stand a chance!"
It came forward and quickly demolished all the clones, just within the sixty seconds.
The Megazord powered down and went back to its original state. "Power disk! Locked and dropped!" Tori called out as she grabbed her disk off her morpher and inserted into the console beside her, "Ready to rock!"
"Power Disk! Locked and dropped! Ready to rock!" The boys called out, following her.
"Serpent Sword!" The three shouted.
"One to the power of three!" Shane called out.
The Megazord copied itself, now revealing three of them holding the sword.
"Megazord! Triple strike!" All three copies slashed downwards at the Copy bot completely destroying him.
"I guess inner strength is something Copybott couldn't copy."
1-2-3-4-5
"Ready to go see your crush?" Liz smirked, thoroughly pleased with how the battle ended, "I mean, the three amigos have just took off back towards Storm Chargers, so there's no point in following them. You said you remember, right?"
"Yeah, I remember alright." Dee muttered, "Will he?"
1-2-3-4-5
The girls arrived at a clearing with a lake and waterfall in it, "Now I remember. It's enchanted, right?" Liz looked to Dee for conformation.
"Yeah. We should be able to just walk across the water and right through the waterfall. That'll take us directly to their Academy grounds." Nodded at each other, the girls walked forward, over the lake and through the water. When they arrived on the other side, all they say was utter destruction, "Wow! This must be what ours looks like now."
"That's harsh." They walked around for awhile, looking for any signs of life, "Okay. So, where are we supposed to find this Sensei at?"
"I don't know how you got here, but you're not welcome." They turned at the sound of the voice behind them.
"Cam?" Dee asked, hesitantly, "You don't remember me, do you?"
The genius looked at her for a moment before recognition set in, "Deanna?"
"Hi."
"What are you doing here?"
"Our Academy was destroyed. We were sent here, with these," They held up the wrists to show him the morphers, "to help out with the fight against Lothor."
He smiled, happy to have more help, "Come on. I'll take you to my father. Then we'll introduce you to the others."
"Oh, that's going to be fun." Liz muttered, caused Dee to smother a laugh.
They entered an underground entrance and went down the stairs. There, they saw a high-tech room with monitors and a small training area.
"Father. It seems the Spectre Academy has fallen."
"It was only a matter of time before Lothor started in on the other schools."
The girls looked on in shock as a little rodent flipped through the air and landed on Cam's shoulder, "Greetings. I am Sensei Watanabe."
"Hey, Dee?"
"Yeah?"
"Species?"
"Um… guinea pig. I think."
"That would be correct." Sensei nodded, "I am stuck in this form after an altercation with Lothor. Now," he looked at the girls, "let's get the introductions done all at once. Cam, call the others and have them report back here."
"Here we go." Dee whispered, shaking her head.
1-2-3-4-5
Tori walked into Storm Chargers to see Shane leaning against the wall looking at her.
"What?" she asked as she walked by. "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," Shane answered, "I was just noticing that you are not completely unbeautiful, you know."
"Gee, thanks," Tori said a bit unsure, just as Dustin and Kelly walked up to her.
"Oh, hey, Tori," Dustin greeted, "there's a customer over there..." Dustin pointed over to the surf boards, "by the Surfboards. Can you go over there and talk to him?"
"You do realize that I don't actually work here?" Tori asked.
"Yeah," Dustin answered as he turned her around. "Ok, dude, just go talk to the guy."
Dustin pushed her a little bit making Tori to move.
"Alright," Tori told him before she walked over to the guy. "Can I help you?"
The guy turned around to reveal the boy from the beach and he smiled when he noticed Tori making the Blue Ranger smile as well before looking back at her friends who laughed and gave her the thumbs up.
"Hi, I'm Tori," Tori greeted when she turned around.
"Hey, I'm Dill," the guy greeted.
"Good job, guys." Kelly patted them on the shoulder before walking away. Just as she left, Shane's morpher went off.
"Oh, great. What now?" Shane looked at Tori, gestured for her to hang on a minute as he and Dustin ducked behind the counter, "Go for Shane."
"Shane." They heard Cam's voice speak out, "Something important has come up. Father needs the three of you at Ninja Ops, right away."
Shane sighed, looking over at Tori, "Okay. We'll be there." He turned to Dustin, "This sucks, man."
"Tell me about it. Come on." Dustin gestured, "We better break the news."
They walked over and tapped Tori on the shoulder, "Dude, sorry to interrupt, but we just got a very important call." At the question on Tori's face, Shane pointed, discretely, to his morpher, "We have a small emergency we need to take care of at our school."
"Yeah, man. It's a project we're working on. Sorry." Dustin shrugged, before walking over to make excuses to Kelly.
"Sorry, Dill. See you at the beach tomorrow?" Tori smiled.
"Sure." The three teens walked out together.
"What's up?" Tori asked, confused.
"No clue. Cam just said that something important had come up and Sensei needed to see us. Like, now."
1-2-3-4-5
They walked down into Ninja Ops, "Hey, Sensei. What's the emergency?" They stopped with they saw the backs of two girls in Ninja suits standing at the computer, "Whoa! Sorry. Um, hi." Shane walked over, "Hi, I'm Shane."
The girls turned, "Thanks, but I don't need an introduction to my own brother." Liz smirked at the shocked look on the older teens faces.
"Elizabeth Clark!" Shane exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"
"Don't take that tone of voice with me, Red Boy." She crossed her arms as she leaned on the table, "From what we've learned from your Sensei here, we've actually been training longer than you."
"Wait, what?" Dustin pulled his gaze away from is own sister, "Where have they been training? We've never seen them here before."
"That's because they go to the Spectre Academy on the outskirts of a town called Stone Canyon."
"Wait, Stone Canyon?" Dustin grinned, "But, that town's right next to Angel Grove."
"What does that have to do with anything?" Shane gestured angrily at his sister, "Don't we have more important matters to deal with here?"
"Dude, Angel Grove is the home to the original team of Power Rangers."
Shane paused for a moment, impressed, "Besides the point." He said, getting back to the point, "You're too young to be Ninjas. What were you thinking?"
"Excuse me?" Liz glared.
"What makes you think you have any right to talk to us like that?" Dee stepped forward, "I don't care whose brother you two are. I don't care that you and I used to date, Shane." Cam frowned at that, "We were recruited to the Academy by our Sensei three years ago. Which means, we're senior students to you."
"And your new teammates." Liz said as she and Dee held up their morphers, "You might want to get used to it, jerk."
"Um, question." Tori raised her hand, trying to stay out of the sibling arguments, "What's the Spectre Academy? I've never heard of it."
"The Spectre Academy trains students in the Light and Dark ends of the Spectrum, not the elements that you learn here." Sensei answered, trying to diffuse to tension.
"Light and Dark? Spectrum?" Tori scratched her head, "Do you mean like a crystal's spectrum? White and Black? The opposites and contrasts?"
Cam looked at the Blue Ranger, impressed, "Very good."
"I'm not a complete idiot." She looked at her two friends, "Not like them."
"Hey!" The boys shouted in unison.
"Enough!" Sensei barked, "Elizabeth and Deanna are now under my direction until their Academy and Sensei are rescued. In the meantime, they were gifted with the Light and Dark morphers and are your new teammates. You will deal with it. No question."
The girls looked at their brothers, smirking. Things just go a lot more interesting.
