Chapter One

A/N: I do not own anything other than my OCs when they come out to play. Everything else belongs to either Disney or the Greek Myths.

Hey everyone! Yes, this is yet another fic but I just couldn't resist writing it! AmethystDragon14 and I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if Claudine was raised by Hook and his family rather than being raised by Frollo—thus this story was born!

Basically it's an AU of my Choosing Series because that's pretty much where my brain lives right now lol :D

Hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Let me know what you think! :D

Mollie Smee sighed softly as she looked at the body of her captain lying on the floor in front of her before looking at the baby in her arms.

It was hard to believe that only a couple of hours ago, Jessica had been in the throws of giving birth and now…and now she'd gone to Davy Jone's locker. It was…Mollie still wasn't sure she could understand why the Isle had decided to take her captain and not someone like Frollo or Gaston instead.

The little girl in her arms cooed softly and Mollie knew that, at some point, Frollo would come for her. After all, he had been Captain Jessica's most recent…well romantic partner might not be the best term for it considering it was the Isle but it was the best Mollie had.

We've already lost too much to that man, Mollie thought as her mind drifted to thoughts of one of their deck hands. Mary was innocent enough as pirates went and had been one of the few members of their crew to be 'turned' by Frollo's words. He always did try to convert the pirates though Frollo focused his attention on Jessica's crew rather than Hook's over on the Jolly Rodger.

Probably because we're mainly women he thinks he can prey on, Mollie thought with a sigh. That's not to say that he hasn't tried it with Hook's crew. Though one word from Hook would be enough to get Frollo to stay far enough away from Pirate's Cove.

The babe in her arms cooed and Mollie brought her attention back to the task at hand. She needed to get the girl to safety—she deserved a better life than living with Claude Frollo.

And thankfully, there was one other possible contender for who the girl's father could be. After all, Jessica had entered her 'parley' with Frollo not long after she left her dalliance with Captain Hook. They were just too similar, Jessica had said. As well…Hook had his eyes for one person and that was his Captaness Milah.

Wrapping the babe in a slightly threadbare red blanket, Mollie slipped out of the Captain's quarters.

"Mollie?" One of the crew asked as she walked out. "How's the Captain?"

Somehow, by a small miracle, Jessica had managed to hide the fact that she was pregnant from most of the crew. Mollie had been the only one who had been able to tell and that was merely because she'd had a daughter earlier in the year.

Little Sammy was the light of her life and Mollie would do anything to make sure she was safe from harm. Which was just another reason why she couldn't stand by and watch as Frollo twisted the little girl in her arms. Twisted her captain's daughter.

"Mollie?"

Mollie sighed. "Ready the crew for a funeral," she said softly. "And…and a rearranging of the crew's leadership will need to be put into effect. I…I need to go inform Captain Hook of this development."

Thankfully, the crew member she spoke to didn't waste any time asking why Mollie needed to go talk to Hook, nor did she ask why Mollie had a blanket in her arms or why she was holding the blanket like she would a babe.

Instead, the crew member nodded and raced off to inform the rest of the crew. Mollie took advantage of the lack of interrogation and quickly raced down the gangplank. The cooing of the babe in her arms gave Mollie encouragement that she'd make it through the day at the very least.

Thankfully, Hook's fish shop was relatively close to The Rose. Granted, it was close to all the ships since it was located on the docks in Pirate's Cove, but for Mollie's case, it was still something to be thankful for.

"Aye, what can I do for you?" Hook asked as Mollie opened the door and Mollie saw him pause upon seeing her.

"Captain," Mollie said softly.

"Mollie," Hook nodded, still looking perplexed upon seeing her. "I gave Smee your order of fish yesterday."

"I'm actually here on pirate business, Captain," Mollie said as she adjusted the babe in her arms. "I…I don't know how to say it but there's…there's no point in dancing around it. Jessica's…Captain Jessica's dead."

"What?" Hook asked, and Mollie could tell there was a look of genuine shock. "How? Mutiny?"

"No, no," Mollie shook her head before sighing softly. "The…Captain Jessica gave birth and unfortunately…well you know what the Isle's like for women who've given birth."

"Aye," Hook nodded, his own wife in the back of his mind. His Milah was pregnant with their first child and while Hook would tell people he was hoping for a boy, privately all he was hoping for was that the child was strong and able to grow up to survive the Isle. "And I'm guessing the bundle in your arms is…is Jessica's babe?"

Mollie nodded as the little girl in her arms cooed. "Captain…I…I know it's a slim chance but the child in my arms has two possible fathers. And I think you'd agree that even if she is Frollo's, being raised as a Hook would be better than being raised as a Frollo. Out of the two…I think we both know which option Captain Jessica would want for her daughter."

Hook didn't say anything but walked over to Mollie, pulling the blanket back to see Jessica's daughter for his own eyes. He didn't risk holding the babe—he knew that babies needed to be supported and his hook wasn't the best for holding a baby.

The whiffs of dark hair didn't really answer the question as to who was the lass' father—after all Frollo had a son with hair that was dark as night so having a daughter with dark hair was possible.

"…we both know Jessica would want her daughter raised as a pirate," Hook said, his voice soft. "But…Molly, I can't risk Milah or our child. After all, you know Frollo would burn down the Isle to get what he wanted."

"Of course not Captain and I would never ask you to," Mollie said, nodding as she spoke. "I know that if it was William or Sammy…but I'm sure we can figure something out. What-what about speaking to Lady Persephone? She's always out and about looking for ways to improve the Isle and her own niece is High Queen. Granted nice by marriage but niece nonetheless. She might be willing to hear the plea, or even Lord Hades….and I can tell Frollo the babe died if he turns up."

Hook sighed and nodded slightly. "It would be our best option…but we don't know that Hades would be willing to help. It might just be the crew of The Jolly Rodger vs Frollo and his hangers on."

"The Jolly Rodger and The Rose, you mean Captain," Mollie said softly. "But you know as well as I that the only person Lord Hades hates as much as Maleficent is Frollo. It…it couldn't hurt to at least talk to him."

"…because you are essentially a fellow captain right now, I'll talk to Hades but nothing can be guaranteed," Hook told her. "I almost feel thought that this should be something I talk to Milah about, this would impact her as well."

"Of course," Mollie said with a nod. "The last thing we want is to cause the Captainess distress, especially in her condition right now. She'll need to be informed, yes."

Hook nodded. "Would you mind keeping the lass for the night? I'll send along some extra fish for you, no need to take food from your lass' mouth. I'll talk to Milah tonight."

"Of course not, I'd be glad to have Jessica's daughter for as long as you need," Mollie told him. "And a babe as young as this one won't be eating fish but the thought is appreciated Captain."

"Of course," Hook said. "I give Smee a hard time but he's a good First Mate. He doesn't deserve to lose you or your lass. Especially not if this lass truly is mine. Take care on the way back. I'm almost tempted to get one of the bilge rats I call crew to walk you back. If you're seen walking around with a babe, it could get back to Frollo and he'll question if she is really dead when you tell him."

Hook paused and glanced out one of the windows. "In fact, let me call Bones to walk you back…and here, use these rags to make it look like you're just carrying some washing. The Rose doesn't deserve to lose another member of their crew so soon after losing their Captain."

Mollie nodded, more than slightly appreciative as she took the rags from Hook; carefully arranging them to allow the young girl in her arms to breathe. She couldn't help but smile as the babe looked up at her.

"Don't worry little one, you'll be safe with me," she said softly.

The babe cooed softly as Hook walked around the counter and stuck his head out of the door of his shop. "Bones! You've got two seconds to get in here!"

"Coming cap'n!"

Hook nodded and true to his word, Bones made good time rushing from the docks to the fish shop.

"Yes, Captain?" Bones asked as he walked in.

"I want you to walk Mollie home. Take another crew member with you if you think it's needed," Hook told him. Smee was already at their home with their almost four month old daughter—Hook might have been one of the most feared pirate captains on the seven seas but he wasn't cruel.

He might hate children, especially the followers of the Pan brat, but a lass that young would need one of her parents around at all times. And the Isle wasn't exactly built for a young child to be left alone—nor was a pirate's ship.

"Understood, cap'n," Bones nodded, eyeing the cloths in Mollie's arms but wisely didn't say anything.

"Good," Hook nodded.

"I'll get this washing taken care of for you cap'n," Mollie said, having noticed Bone's look out of the corner of her eye. If she could avoid Bones asking questions along the way back to her house, it would be less nerve wracking.

"Appreciated, First Mate. Wait one moment and I'll get you that fish order you said Smee requested."

Milah would have his other hand if she found out that Mollie risked so much for him and he didn't at least provide a little extra in terms of food for them.

"Appreciated, Captain," Mollie said, hiding the slight shock in her voice. Though it wouldn't do well to be shocked in front of Bones.

Hook nodded and ducked back behind his counter, going into the back to get some fish. He pursed his lips as he bagged up some fish. The situation was complicated, very complicated. But no matter how slim the chance, Mollie wasn't wrong in thinking that there was a chance the babe was his.

And as long as there was a chance…if the other option was Frollo…that babe was staying with him, with her pirate side that Frollo would without a doubt stamp out if he got his hands on her.

He knew that there likely wasn't a chance that the lass would ever find out if she wasn't a Hook but even if she wasn't his, she was Jessica's. And Jessica's child deserved to be with pirates.

Plus if she wasn't a Hook, then it wasn't as if he was kidnapping or anything. Simply taking in his own child. And if Frollo was told the babe was stillborn, it was unlikely he'd push the issue given the fact that the babe was a girl. Frollo didn't seem like the type to have much care for female babes—plus there was the fact that Frollo already had a three-year-old son that he was no doubt twisting up.

But if there's a chance Frollo doesn't believe Mollie, I'll need to be able to send Milah and the babe to safety, Hook thought as he finished bagging up the fish. Which would mean Hades. There's no way on this rock that I'd trust the Dragon to keep Milah safe. And even if he does believe Mollie, I don't trust Frollo as far as I can hook him. Better to send them both to Hades' for a while. Maybe even Mollie too if Smee will allow it. After all, if Frollo found out that Mollie lied to him…I may give Smee a hard time but even I don't want to see what losing his wife or child would do to him. I'm cruel, I'm not heartless.

"Tell Smee to come by if he needs anything else," he told Mollie as he went back and handed Bones the bag of fish since Mollie's hands were occupied. "I've no doubt I'll see you soon."

"Of course Captain. I'll tell William to let you know and thank you," Mollie nodded before she and Bones walked out the door of the fish shop to make their way to the Smee home.

Hook sighed as he heard the door close, running his hand through his hair. Right. The lass was safe at least for the night. Next up…talk to Hades. Or Milah. Or both.

After all, time really wasn't on their side and the sooner Hook could get Milah and the lass to safety, the sooner he could start rallying the rats he called a crew to prepare for war against Frollo.

And of course, to pay their respects to another crew's captain.

Taking a small flask from under the counter, Hook flipped open the lid with his hook and held it up to the sky. "Hope you're hoisting the colors in the afterlife, Jessica. Don't you worry. I'll take care of your lass. She'll know the pirate way and I'll make sure Frollo never gets his twisted hands on her."

He took a small swig before capping the flask once more and putting it under the counter. It was time to get to work.
