Chapter 40: Regaining Control
The vampire's dark eyes had stared at Charlie for a long moment before a growl came from the still body. Slowly, the blonde had regained control of his body, slowly moving first his mouth, then his fingers. In slow motion, his whole body had begun to move, moving towards the dragon rider who really had time to see death coming. Jasper was moving better and better, his speed approaching that of a human. Charlie pushed the chair back as far as he could, until he was pinned against the wall. The vampire followed him. He was only a step away when the door opened.
"JAZ!" yelled Harry.
His two soul mates turned their heads toward him. Charlie's eyes were filled with fear while the vampire's were coal black.
Hermione cast a spell that bound Jasper, causing him to fall to the ground.
"Get him drunk, the ropes won't hold for long," informed the young woman.
"Kreacher, do you have the blood bags?" asked Harry as Ron rushed to his brother.
The elf handed Harry the two precious bags and he wondered how he was going to get his blood into them without spilling it all over the floor of the room. Hermione huffed in annoyance. She cast a spell on the dark-haired man, who felt a twinge in his left arm, but nothing too painful.
"It's okay, go ahead," her friend whispered as she went to lend Ron a hand.
Harry slowly approached the vampire who was trying to free himself from the ropes, his eyes still black, his face contorted with rage. The dark-haired man knelt beside him, calling out softly to him. He put his hand on the white forehead, being careful to stay out of reach of the sharp teeth. The contact seemed to calm the vampire slightly, and he stopped struggling against his ropes and looked at Harry as if he were telling him something, but couldn't remember what. The wizard levitated the first bag of blood to his companion's mouth, relieved to see him bite into it without hesitation.
The Dragonrider had been relieved to see his brother and his two best friends arrive, especially since, as so often, Hermione seemed to be in control of the situation. As the pair cut his bonds, Charlie watched terrified as Harry interacted with the out-of-control vampire. The dark-haired man may not have chosen him, but he still cared about him and didn't want to see him die before his very eyes.
"Can you walk Charlie?" asked Ron.
"I'm not going to walk for miles…"
"Do you need medical attention now?" interjected Hermione.
"It can wait," he said as he stood up and leaned on Ron's shoulders.
"Harry, we have to go."
Jasper had just drunk the two bags of blood, his eyes were back to their honey color, but there were a few red flakes in them and they were still haunted. He felt like he was coming out of a thick fog. He remembered the attack in Alaska, the intense pain and being very thirsty. The rest was a blur, he had felt Charlie's presence, inspiring immense hatred, the smell of blood, then his companion had arrived like a beacon.
"Harry," he breathed in a broken voice. "Go with them, leave me, I'm dangerous."
It was killing him to say that to his companion, but he knew he wasn't in control. However the brunette did the opposite, taking him in his arms and cradling the vampire's head in his neck. The delicious smell of the brown man's blood made him salivate, he began to suck on his skin between his teeth, licking it with desire.
Hermione's voice telling them that they had to leave brought him out of his trance-like state. He recoiled violently as he realized how close he had come to biting his companion.
"Take Charlie back to safety, I'm staying, I have some scores to settle."
"Leave Harry, I'm a danger to you," Jasper tried to convince him.
"I won't leave without you."
"What are you going to do?" asked Charlie.
It wasn't easy for him to see the vampire in the arms of the man he loved, but he knew it was up to him to learn to deal with it.
"Toppling a tyrant from his throne," Harry replied in a cold voice that made the others shudder.
"Then we need to mobilize the people," the dragon rider declared, determined to fight.
"Charlie, you can't fight in your condition…"
"Don't bullshit Harry! That was my parents' house they blew up with my family under it! I'll never forget the image of Ginny, pierced by a beam..."
Harry felt bad, realizing that he had almost forgotten that he wasn't the only one who might want revenge. Jasper was careful not to take part in the conversation, he would support his companion no matter what the final decision was. What worried him in the immediate future was his overwhelming urge to bite him.
"Okay, go to the Diagon Alley, make them understand that Gestand is preparing to commit genocide." conceded the Survivor.
Hermione looked at Jasper apprehensively, which made him respond by whispering to Harry.
"Go with them, come back for me later."
"I'll take care of him," Harry said to Hermione. "I think I know what to do."
The two Weasley brothers and the young woman headed for the exit.
"Ask Kreacher to get you apparate... and Charlie, maybe others would like some revenge too," interrupted Harry before tossing his cell phone to Hermione.
All three nodded and left. Harry untied himself from Jasper and gently levitated him to the wall to sit as comfortably as possible with his ropes. He then grabbed hold of one of the ties that had held Charlie and turned it into a small knife.
"Harry, what are you doing?" worried Jasper, certain that whatever the dark-haired man's idea was, it would not be good.
The wizard sat up on his legs and kissed the vampire's cheek letting him feel all the love he felt for him.
"Trust me, I know you will never hurt me."
"Harry, don't do this," Jasper pleaded with him, suspecting more and more what was coming next.
"Jaz, I need you by my side to get revenge on Gestand and you in control. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Without any hesitation, the young man sliced the veins in his wrist. The vampire's eyes instantly turned black, his nostrils flared, and his tongue passed over his lips. Harry brought the wound to his companion's mouth and he began to suck out the vital fluid. The wizard's blood was nothing like what he had tasted before. It had a little something more which made each mouthful sublime and made him lose his head. He was experiencing a taste orgasm and was well on his way to having an orgasm altogether. He took four big gulps before he realized that Harry was slumped over him, shaking slightly and breathing hard. He immediately became concerned that he had hurt his mate and moved his mouth away from the wound.
"Harry?"
"I'm okay." gasped the young man.
Jasper frowned and focused on his companion's feelings via their bond. What he felt surprised and delighted him, making him smile.
"I'm glad to know that it had as much effect on you as it did on me, but could you close your wound now? We need to go kick the Prime Minister's ass."
Harry lazily cast a healing spell on himself. He would have enjoyed this one-on-one time with his soul mate, but indeed, he had revenge to take.
"I wasn't expecting this…"
"Me either, definitely not," laughed Jasper.
"Are you in control?"
The vampire nodded and Harry stood up, gesturing with his wand to release him. Jasper was up in a flash, hugging the wizard. He longed to kiss him and make love to him, even more so after what had just happened, but this was not the time or place. Harry was in the same state, but was also thinking about Charlie. The dragon rider had looked so bad that he didn't want to add a layer. They parted ways and the brunette winced as he met Jasper's gaze.
"Are they red?"
Harry nodded, barely holding back a shiver as the image of Voldemort flashed through his mind. He shook his head to clear the memories and refocused on his companion.
"It's nothing, let's go."
Jasper sensed that the answer wasn't completely honest, but Harry waved him off. There was nothing he could do about his eyes anyway, the red would go away in a few days, in the meantime there was nothing he could do.
"Do you know where to go?"
"Let's start in the lobby."
Jasper nodded and took his wizard on his back, rushing out of the cell.
