FULL FORCE · RIDER CHIPS

Somewhere in the ruins of what was once the old capital of Tokyo, submerged in the deep waters in light of an incident surrounding a thermonuclear bomb that was dropped on it by the time the Post-Impact Wars came to be after just seven days of major geopolitical and economic upheaval in light of the major disaster—Second Impact—that would go down in human history as the most devastating event and the potential number of casualties that resulted from it was in the billions, adding a bit more when it came to the Post-Impact Wars.

A presence swam through the depths of this submerged city. It was the presence of a tall and thin humanoid body. Its proportions do not match those of a human; its arms are long enough to reach below its knees and its legs and feet are elongated and disproportionate. It lacks a proper humanoid head and neck, but like other Angels, contains a core in the center of its solar plexus. Its head, barely mobile, appeared to primarily be made of bone and is structured much like a bird's, even having a long beak.

Little by little, it slowly rises from the depths and is now about to make landfall on the shores of human civilization.

It walks undeterred as the bright morning sun was shining from somewhere in the direction of the mountains.

However, the creature—Third Angel—noticed something. There were many military vehicles and hovering VTOL aircraft that bear the UN insignia. And they were now opening fire upon it with everything that they can muster from a heavy hail of turrets and missiles. They were all for naught as the creature simply shrugs it off with its AT Field, deflecting it and simply absorbing it for its own purposes.

The creature itself had thought that it was commendable for them at least to deter it from its goal. It does provide itself with a good challenge, however little it amounted to anything. Everything that is to be written in the Dead Sea Scrolls is to be planned accordingly. The creature was more of a tool for the progression of events that would allow for the future as it is dictated to come to be.

The prophecy about the nature of Instrumentality will be accomplished.

And no one can stop it...

There was a young man who was watching the battle from afar.

He was wearing a pair of sunglasses, black in color, wearing a white shirt with a green jacket, grey pants with several pockets, and black shoes. Underneath the sunglasses were narrowed eyes as he stares into the gigantic eldritch creature that was now walking towards the now abandoned city streets of a village and is being thoroughly engaged by multiple aircraft and vehicles. Too little to no success as loads of ammunition and the missile barrages were never even scratching the monster as it conjured up its natural A.T. Field. And then, the monster simply swats the tanks and other mobile vehicles away with its seemingly elongated arms. Then it sets its sights on the VTOLs and fired beams that send them crashing either on each other or straight to the ground from the tall buildings to the abandoned streets that were full of cars.

Aside from that, he can see an active radar homing missile flying through a straight-lined pattern and upon impact went out with the sound of a sonic boom which made the entire earth shake and formed a large crater that vaporized any surrounding infrastructures nearby. Electro-magnetic pulses were felt in a way the same as a nuclear bomb that had just detonated, just without the radioactive fallout as a benefit.

An N2 Mine had just been sent. It didn't seem to put a dent into the thing and just continued on like normal.

"Hey, partner..."

There was something present in the young man's shoulder. It was a red mechanical rhinoceros beetle that was sentient in nature. And this beetle was capable of communicating with the boy just like one human would with another.

"I know..." the young man replied with a serious tone. "It's time for us to get to work, Kabuto Zecter."

"...Where the hell is he?!"

Misato Katsuragi, a young woman with long dark violet hair that is wavy with bangs parted to the sides and dark brown eyes was both irritated and worried as she waited in the driver's seat of her Renault Alpine A310 sports car. She has yet to even see a single soul so far which is not very surprising as everyone from this part of Tokyo-2 had been thoroughly evacuated.

She was supposed to be picking up a boy to whom she had specifically sent instructions on where and when they should meet. Originally, this meeting was supposed to be your ordinary typical meeting between a military officer and a potential candidate for designation as the Third Child, one of the pilots that have the potential to pilot the EVA Unit. Once they made contact, Misato would eventually answer a couple of questions that the boy would no doubt have with regard to his father who is her boss in the organization that she works for. And that organization would have to be NERV, a special type of organization that was put together in order to combat situations like this.

Instead...rotten luck happens in the form of an Angel appearing out of nowhere and is now being thoroughly engaged by UN forces, with too little to no success. The First Child, last she remembered, was currently in the infirmary after suffering from a recent accident with her EVA Unit, so she's out of commission until she gets better. But that was a problem because she was the only EVA pilot that NERV currently has and the Second Child was still on the other side of the world and won't be able to make it in time before the Angel eventually makes landfall in Tokyo 3.

Just their first battle with an Angel and they were already piling up major losses. If it wasn't bad enough...her charge was nowhere to be found.

Honestly, she wouldn't blame him if he isn't here. If he was smart and lucky, he was either somewhere very far away from this place or safe in one of those underground shelters that NERV had built several years ago, the latter scenario seemed rather unlikely as she would have been notified by now if the boy was there as there are over dozens of cameras monitoring the civilians and NERV's local law enforcement handling crowd control.

The only reason she even came here is that there might be a slight chance that he was here. Better to be safe than sorry as she'd rather not have to deal with her superior chewing her out and the possibility of the boy being harmed. At least that was her thought at the time.

Maybe she should just turn back since it was clear to her that he wasn't here and was just making herself out into a bullseye target for the Angel to crush. Might as well need to contact HQ while she's at it in order to notify her superior.

"...!"

That is...until she spotted something completely even more bizarre than an Angel...that suddenly punched the latter straight in the face and sent it straight flying several meters away and crashing through the trees.

"...What the hell..."

She muttered in disbelief as she touches the side of the door. She was observing a gigantic armored figure with a sleek design. A black body suit with red main armor with some details kept in silver. Silver knee pads and a belt on the waist with a rhinoceros beetle resting on it In fact, his helmet looked like the head of a rhinoceros beetle with blue-eyed visors, with horns in the center. From the left side, one can find the word "ZECT" written within the front orb with the symbol of a rhinoceros beetle underlying it.

At that point...

CLOCK UP

The armored figure disappeared. Another explosion happened and that came from the Angel that was recently knocked out. A large bright green cross that was accompanied by a bright white halo was seen shining from the very skies which were overlayed with an orange-greyish explosion that grew into a mushroom cloud, signaling its demise. From where it stood, at least several blocks of concrete and asphalt appeared to be decimated.

And just like that...it was over in the blink of an eye. The strangest part was that the armored figure was nowhere to be found.

Misato couldn't help but remain absolutely speechless for the next few minutes as multiple questions were popping out of her mind. She slowly exits the car and only saw the light of the cross overlaying the mushroom explosion flashing in front of her eyes, dazzling and horrific to look at, reminding her of her past traumas from long ago. feeling the phantasm of the long cold winter that sends shivers running down her spine. She instinctively clutched the cross part of her necklace, the one that she had been carrying after all this time in memory of someone that she had mixed feelings for and lost.

Father, she thought.

She simply stayed like this for the next few minutes until...

"Excuse me."

A concerned mature voice managed to surprise her, jolting her to turn around to find a young man wearing a pair of sunglasses, a white shirt with a green jacket, grey pants, and black shoes.

"Are you alright?"

"Um..."

She was blinking her eyes out as she eyed the young man from top to bottom. Strange, she thought. He seems to be familiar to her but she can't put her finger on it. If she didn't know any better, this young man, who looked to be about fourteen, reminded her of a younger version of her Commander. The young man eventually seems to recognize her confusion as he begins to take off his shades, revealing his deep blue eyes that appeared to stare back into her own with a sense of probing peculiarity and scrutiny.

"You are Captain Katsuragi, correct? My name is Ikari Shinji, I believe that you were waiting for me?"

"Attention all units, be advised, we have an unidentified lifeform that managed to punch a hole through the Angel's AT Field! I repeat, the Angel had been hit! And...what the hell! This is GC-42, we've got an explosion, I repeat, we have an explosion." one of the F-15E pilots responded from the channels.

From the UN Command Center, there were multiple holographic projection screens from the virtual sand table that was depicting the battle, everyone was in a state of disbelief and shock as they were seeing what appeared to be an armored beetle-like figure suddenly punching through the AT Field of an Angel. What's mind-boggling was that it managed to easily deal with the Angel itself if the explosion were anything to go by. And then, it suddenly just disappeared just as quickly as if it teleported elsewhere in the blink of an eye.

"Wh...What the hell just happened?! What the hell is that thing?!" one of the officials from the leftmost corner asked in shock.

"Somebody! Make contact with NERV! I want to know what the hell we're dealing with here!" another one of the officials shouted from the official communications line.

While most people were panicking and scrambling to get a sense of what is happening, the only one who appeared to be calm and collected was Major General Nathan Ironhammer, an old man in his late fifties with grey hair and brown eyes, wearing a decorated dark blue military uniform with a two stars insignia found on both of his shoulders. Unlike the others, he was simply sitting on an office chair.

After all of the years of seeing some action which included the Persian Gulf War, the Somali Civil War, and the Post-Impact Wars, there was barely anything that really fazes the man. So when he was seeing this armored figure suddenly appearing out of nowhere, he was less fazed by it and more on the lines of concern and intrigue.

From careful observations, it was clear that he was dealing with something completely new and considered to be potentially an outside context factor. By observing carefully, it was clear to him that this individual wasn't associated with NERV whatsoever based on the "ZECT" insignia on his left shoulder, guessing that this armored figure belonged to an organization they never even heard of before. He sure as hell had never heard of them. But this one would be a hypothetical theory until he can at least find out more about the situation.

"Sir," one of the officers said to him, drawing his full attention. "I've just made contact with Commander Ikari. He says that he has no idea either as to who this armored figure is."

Somehow...he didn't seem surprised one bit.

He would need to take note of it as there would no doubt be future debriefings regarding this incident.

Gendo Ikari was not happy.

If only because one part of his plan had been utterly derailed by the trespassing of a brand-new player that quite literally appeared out of nowhere for only a minute before it eventually disappeared.

He can see his right-hand man—Kōzō Fuyutsuki and the rest who were on the bridge completely stupefied at this sudden turn of events. It wasn't every day that you suddenly saw a giant armored rhinoceros beetle mecha destroying what they had been preparing for so very long. One of the main reasons why NERV was founded is that the Angels are to be considered a threat to humanity and its future which is why NERV received the necessary international funding that it needed in order to carry out its goals a bit more efficiently.

But then...

Even that goal was one means to an end that Gendo Ikari had in mind. Unbeknownst to anyone, he has plans of his own and what those plans entailed was only known to a few specific people that he trusted enough to tell, and even then, he kept a few other plans to himself.

It was supposed to be simple. Get his son over to NERV HQ with the help of his subordinate, Captain Misato Katsuragi, and get him to pilot Unit-01. If his son refuses to pilot the Eva, which Gendo would not be surprised as there were plenty of reasons for not doing it from a personal, moral, and logical perspective, he would send for the injured Rei Ayanami—First Child in order to for his son to do as he was told. And this was merely one of his sets of contingency plans that he would exploit in order to take advantage of his son's weakened and insecure personality.

Now, Gendo Ikari loved his son and loved him more than anything aside from his late wife. He just has a very twisted way of showing it and he knew these flaws quite well. It was one of the main reasons why he sent Shinji as far away from him as possible because he was dealing with an excessive type of grief of having recently lost the love of his life.

But he knew that one day, he may need his son again as part of his plan to bring back their loved one—his wife and his son's mother—back into the land of the living. Even now, he never did get over what had happened as he recalled the accident that lead to losing her.

He didn't show it but he sighed. He knew that the SEELE would not be so pleased with this result and they are going to probably have a talk with him on this matter. Of course, he doesn't have as much of a clue about what had just happened as anyone else. It would probably be safe to assume that the Dead Sea Scrolls prophecies may in fact be called into question as they never mentioned the appearance of an armored beetle figure defeating Sachiel—the Third Angel. His plans of course would have to be modified and updated in light of this incident.

"Fuyutsuki," the man turned to his scientific advisor who looked at him, still looking bewildered at the recent turn of events. "Come to my office after this. We may need to discuss a few things in private."
