'What you are experiencing is a temporary distortion of reality'

During the war of Disconnection countless systems were on the verge of shutting down; buildings crumbled, sprites deleted, and cores near destruction. Mainframe was no different. Cycles went by and all of the net continued to suffer. In a final act of desperation, game sprites fled their games and joined forces with the entirety of the net. The enemy: every User who dared to help destroy a system with their games.

Thankfully, the aid of the game sprites helped to tip the war in the net's favour. The User needed both the net and the web to survive in their realm; without it they were lost. In the end an agreement was made; the Users were granted access to the endless resources the net had to offer under the condition that no more games would be played.

The Disconnection war was over after cycles of loss and deletion. Every system slowly rebuilt, and for a decade no game cubes fell from the sky. Sprites had taken back control of the net and were no longer at the mercy of the games. Everyone rejoiced and there was peace, for a time…

Soon there were whispers of a secret code circulating; one created by a User that could control others. It was believed that this code was specifically programmed for game sprites. Despite their role to play in the net's victory system born sprites succumbed to their fears and suspicions, betraying their comrades. Friends became enemies and neighbours turned on one another.

The Disconnection war became a distant memory to most as system born sprites returned to normalcy. They were the guardians and system administrators of the net; the ones with all the power. Systems flourished as game sprites drifted to the lower class.

The fate of the net was destined to hang in the balance once again, and it would be Mainframe that determined the outcome. But for now the small system was unaware of the forces at work or the role they would soon have to play.
