Harvey's thoughts before proposing

He wakes up to the familiar feeling of a body pressed to his, he smiles involuntarily and opens his eyes to look at his, what?... girlfriend?, technically that's what she is, but the title seems so empty and shallow for them, she's so much more than that, girlfriend is such a small word for the place that Donna occupies in his life.

She is half on top of him, her arm draped across his chest, her face tucked in the crook of his neck.

He's not sure if it was in that precise moment that he realized he wanted to wake up like that every day for the rest of his life, but right then and there he had not a single doubt that's exactly what he wanted.

He nuzzles his nose in her hair, willing her out of her dreaming state but she doesn't stir, he's come to notice in the six months that they have been together as a couple, that Donna is not a morning person.

"Donna" He whispers softly next to her ear but she still doesn't move so he supposes he'll have to use other methods in order to wake her up.

He brings the hand that's not holding her safely guarded in his embrace, towards her hip as his fingers softly start caressing her skin, working their way up her body. They fell asleep right after sex last night and neither had the strenght to put some pajamas on, so they are both pretty much naked, except for her panties and his boxers. As his fingers continue caressing her, she suddenly stirs when his index softly slides over the side of her breast, that's currently pressed against his chest.

"Harvey" She moans softly and at first he thinks she's awake but one look at her still parted lips and her peaceful face and he realizes she isn't, meaning she's probably dreaming of him.

"Wake up so I can make that dream come true" He says in a low tone, his lips right next to her ear.

"It was a good dream, so you better mean that" She croaks out in a sleepy voice, finally awake.

"Oh I mean it" He quips as he turns her around to lay her flat on her back and she squeals at the sudden movement. "Good morning beautiful" He says as he kisses her good morning properly.

"Good morning handsome" She replies as she runs her fingers through his hair. "You haven't had enough of me, have you?" She teases with a smile and he shakes his head while giving her a boyish grin that makes her heart melt.

"I never will, so, what do you say we go for the first round of the day, right now" He suggests while lifting his eyebrows suggestively.

"First, huh? We can't have more than one Harvey, Louis is getting married in a few hours" She reminds him and he groans.

"Donna, do you really have to mention his name while we're pressed together about to have sex? Way to keep the romance alive" He complains with a roll of his eyes.

"Our romance is very much alive Harvey, your hard dick pressed against my belly right now, despite me mentioning Louis's name, tells me as much"

"That's only because you're so beautiful" He retorts and she grins at him.

She pulls him in for a slow kiss that he gladly returns "Enough talk mister, get to work" She demands and he laughs.

"Demanding, are we Paulsen?"

"Just do as told"

"Gladly"

He starts kissing his way down her body and makes sure his name is the only thing that comes out of her mouth for the next several minutes.

A few hours later they are finally ready to leave the condo, well it only took Harvey about twenty minutes to get ready but it took Donna almost two hours to do her hair and make up.

He enters his bedroom when she announces that she's ready and sees her casually looking for something on his cufflinks box and pulling her double ring out if it, as if she wasn't looking incredibly stunning, as if she hasn't literally just taken his breath away.

"Did you?" She asks while looking at him.

"Did I, what?" He asks back confused.

"Call Ray, Harvey. You okay?"

He smiles and nods "Fine yeah" He brushes it off and takes his phone "Texting Ray now" He adds.

"Good" She says as she walks by him, dropping a quick kiss on his mouth, a simple gesture, she does it all the time, but somehow his chest swells and it makes him feel so fucking happy. And he can see himself doing this for the rest of his life, sharing his cufflinks box with her, getting ready in his place, or their place to leave to some event, or to simply go out together on a date, he wants this, and he's known it for a while, he told her as much when he said he knew they'd be together forever, but ever since he got the ring that he's been carrying around for days now, it's somehow more real, and all he has to do is find the perfect moment to ask her to spend forever with him.

Making sure she's distracted texting on her phone, probably with Samantha, he walks towards his side of the closet, because she has a side in it now too, and he puts his hand on the inside pocket of one of his suit's jacket, the one he wore yesterday, because the only way for Donna not to find it is carrying it with him all the time, or at least that what he tells himself, when in all true, he knows he really carries it around because he knows the perfect opportunity can present itself anytime now, and he wants to make sure he'll be ready when it does. So he takes the ring, and tucks it safely in his pant's pocket, just in case.

They are about to walk down the aisle together once more, and he can't help but think about the last time they did, at Mike and Rachel's wedding, while still working on mending their friendship after he made the worst mistake of his life by deciding to date his therapist and almost losing Donna in the process.

He looks at her and when they lock eyes he feels as if she's looking into his soul, she does that, but somehow he thinks that she knows him so well that she may as well figure out what he's thinking, and she might notice that he can't wait to do this with her, he can't wait to marry her. So he makes a joke about her not getting any ideas about doing this anytime soon, and when she replies that now is not the time, he tries not to panic and simply replies with another joke.

They share one more loving look before walking down the aisle and he can't help but think about how much he loves her.

The wedding is cut short when Sheila goes into labor so they're now sitting at a table after he ordered a glass of champagne for Donna and a scotch for himself, Mike makes some comment about the best closer in the city being so whipped while he leaves to get himself a drink. Harvey ignores Mike and positions his chair so he's looking at her, because today, well every day really, all he wants to do is look at her.

She's telling him some story about Louis but he's not really paying attention, cause all he can focus on right now is how beautiful she looks and how much he wants to kiss her.

When Mike comes back to the table and asks if there is any news he makes a smartass comment and she scolds him playfully and makes some cute joke about when Mike was in prison and he keeps looking at her adoringly.

She asks him if her drink is on and he finds the joke endearingly cute, and she makes jokes like that all the time, but today everything seems to be amplified for Harvey, so he smiles at her and thinks about how perfect this moment is, and like some kind of revelation that simply comes to him, he realizes he's been a fool for waiting around for the right moment, because every moment with Donna is perfect, she is perfect, and even his mother, who wasn't a regular part of his life for so long, knew Donna was the one for him even before he did, she told him as much when she said she had been rooting for them to get together for years.

These last few days since his mom passed have been rough, and even if having Donna by his side made everything better he still misses his mom every day, and it's made him reflect on how much time he wasted, with his mom and with Donna, trying to push her away, trying to push his feelings away and for what? They were inevitable from the moment he shook her hand in that bar, and suddenly it's so clear, so similar to the revelation he had that night he knocked on her door six months ago. He's done wasting time. He wants to marry her, he wants Donna to be his wife, and for some people what he's considering doing may seem insane, or like it's too soon, but Donna is so much more than his girlfriend, she's his soulmate and if everything goes according to his wishes, he's gonna marry his soulmate, tonight even, if he can convince her to agree.

If he can get away with it, he'll make Donna his wife tonight.

Mike says something Harvey doesn't quite register, and Donna replies that it's weird because it's like the guests have nothing to celebrate and he decides right then and there that now is the time.

So he tells her they should give them something to celebrate and she's so confused he finds it so endearing, it's not every day you catch the mighty Donna Paulsen out of guard.

He tells her he loves her, that he knew he wanted to marry her from the second he met her, he's done wasting time and he can't wait another single day to make her his wife, to start forever with her, he gets down on one knee, he finally reveals the ring that has been burning a whole in his suits for the past few days and she says yes, and he knows he's never felt this happy before.

"That was the happiest day of my life" She says softly behind him as he places the frame with a picture of their first dance as husband and wife on top of their brand new fireplace in Seattle.

He turns to look at her and wraps his arms around her waist as he looks into her eyes adoringly. "Mine too".

"You were so desperate for me to say yes" She teases with a smile.

"You were so desperate for me to ask" He teases back.

"I waited fifteen years to marry you Harvey, trust me, patience is my specialty"

"Well then, I hope finally being married to me meets your expectations" It's intended as a joke, but deep down he really hopes it does because there's nothing he wants more than making Donna happy.

"Every single one of them" She assures him as she leans in for a kiss.

"I love you Donna Paulsen-Specter"

"And I love you Harvey Specter"

Yeah, asking her to marry him in a rush is the best decision he's ever made, and he'll spend the rest of his life making sure she never regrets saying yes.
