I moaned and took a chuck of my flask. "You shouldn't be drinking on the job." I lifted my brow and he shuts up. I sighed, being in the middle of nowhere wasn't what I signed up for. "What did you do before joining the white lotus?"

I took one last Gulp. "Police chief, then I was lieutenant commander. I didn't join, more like I was offered the position." He looked shocked realizing that I wasn't a guard.

"So why aren't you inside? I mean if y-you're so special." I took my pipe and lit with blue fire answering his question. "You're!" He stepped back terrified of the blue flames once held by my mother and her mother before.

I smirked. "I don't enjoy being in the presence of children who aren't from my blood or at least who aren't related." I took the breath of smoke and let out a satisfied sigh of smoke. "I only had four students in my short life, and one is my cousin so from there I learned I don't enjoy baby sitting unless they're my own children or my sister." The guard nodded.

He looked at me for a moment and opened his mouth again to waste the surrounding Air. "Is it true that your sister is an Air bender?"

I almost broke my pipe, every time! "Yes, yes she is." I did everything to stand out, and she is famous by being the last of the air benders and granddaughter of the illustrious Avatar Aang.

"Must be— been great having the avatar as your grandfather." I honestly couldn't complain grandfather spent as much time with me as he did with Zaya. I remember copying grandfathers stances and going through the gates imagining the air being a dragon leading through a path. "I always wanted to get sent to one of the temples I heard the view is amazing." I nodded letting out another breath of the plant I was smoking. "What are you smoking?" He asked with a sound concern.

I took my pipe out. "Skullcap, an odd flower. The leaves itself can be made Into a calming tea or smoked for the same effect. However the flowers attract a nasty bacterium that is usually found in Shirshu spit." The guard stared both shocked and captivated by the biology lesson. "Most who drink the flowers of this plant die as it causes throat to be paralyzed. But smoking it doesn't have same issues, because the bacteria is killed but not the compound that paralyzes and only so little is left that using it regularly causes the body to built up an Immunity to it."

The guard stared at my pipe. "So you smoke it for the calming benefit?" I nodded but decided to further explain.

"My grand mother, my mother's side was a paranoid woman who thought that everything was waiting for her to misstep. She was found by a bounty hunter with an eyeless beast, but was able get away. So she started smoking the flower and I do the same because I'm terrified of Shirshus, if I ever meet one I would rather die fighting than to die having the last image be that of a Shirshu mouth." I answered honestly, those beasts always gave me nightmares as a child.

The grand master came out with a smile and the Guard was told to leave with a hand wave. "He have found her." I sighed, finally I could go back to gran gran instead of standing in the cold. "We need to meet with master Katara, she will start Korra's training immediately."

My smile disappeared. "Sir, shouldn't her training start at the age of Sixteen not three?" I asked, remembering how grandfather told me and Zaya about the monks telling him how he was the avatar.

I knew how punishing the life of a prodigy was and I couldn't let them do this. "We are doing as avatar Aang requested." I wanted spit at his feet! "Grandfather wouldn't have wanted do such things! Even when he trained Zaya it was always fun." We spent most of that time playing games or launching fruit pies at Appa who always ate them before they hit. "Give me an honest answer." I said glaring at him.

After a short moment of looks being swapped. "We have heard reports that there is a maniac trying to Radicalize the non bending population against benders."

My jaw clenched at that notion. "So a copy of Liling?" I asked frustrated such a thing happened again. "What does he want? Banish all benders from the city and make fifth nation only made of non benders or do some actual good maybe get rid of that council?" The grand master gave me a chuckle and I gave a frustrated sigh. "United republic needs it's independence and the people should be able to make their own choices. The city is rotten from the inside, Liling was the first worm my grandfather should have taken her bending instead of leaving her in a cage." The grandmaster nodded.

He walked next to me and we continued to a nice tea shop. "Flowering tea please." I drank from my canister. "We have odd tastes don't we?" I nodded as one of the servers tried to tell I had to buy something.

"a plate of your best biscuits! and if the plate's empty just get ten more." The server smiled and headed to the back. "Yes, I got used to the taste after my first sip. Granny Azula taught all to know about fire, aunt Mai showed me how to throw blades and Grampa Aang taught how to be human. I will say this, no matter bender or not when humans are stupid they're stupid." He glared at me as I smirked at him.

"I had a request for you, be the Avatars fire bending master." We both sat still and then I reacted with a chuckle. "Take this seriously!"

"I spent my childhood with my grandfather because my parents both served the united forces! I would rather be in republic city trying to end the legacy that Liling left." I stood up and I stared him right into his eyes. "If I have time, and I will train ?" I paused waiting for the the girl's name.

"Korra, and most would see it as a great honor to train the Avatar." I ate the last biscuit, placed a tower of coins and stepped to the door.

I looked at him over my shoulder. "Do I have a scar on my face?" I stepped out of tea shop the winds howling with laughter.

I walked to my grandmother's house. "You really need to stop growing Kuzon!" I hugged her odd how someone who lived in the middle of the tundra gave a warmer welcome than the greatest fire bender. "Good you shaved, I don't get what it is with men and their beards just get scratchy after a while."

A little girl with messy hair ran at me before getting lift into the air. "Kuki! How's my favorite Kuki little girl doing? making trouble for mommy or gran gran are you?" The five year old pouted at the insinuation.

Katara chuckled. "Oh she's been behaving her best, keeping her mother on her feet." I nodded Kumi taking Kuki. I kissed Kumi on the cheek and took my uniform off.

I smiled. "Good to know one child is being treated their age." both my wife and gran gran gave me a concerned look while Kuki looked around confused why everyone was staring at me.

Yumi grasped my cheek with a warm smile that could make a glacier melt. "What happened?" I sat down taking a long breath trying to keep my frustrations at manageable level.

"They want to rush Avatar Korra's training, Master Katara should come to her home tomorrow."

Yumi started giggling. "They're kidding right?" I stayed silent while Gran gran shacked her head. "What are we going to do?"

Great gruncle came in howling cheering. "The South Pole has the Avatar!" He said waving his hands around with massive enthusiasm that Kuki mimicked . "Who ruined your broth?" I glared at him

I started thinking and the answer was. "Granny Azula, the council who keep ignoring me and The grandmaster who want's Korra's training to start tomorrow." Great grUncle Sokka nodded and unlike Gran gran he wasn't enraged by the grandmaster making Korra train early.

"So what ? Aang started Tenzin and Zaya when they were what? 6" I nodded but it was easy to see that great gruncle Sokka didn't see the full picture.

Yumi jumped in. "I apologize but I agree with Gran gran and Kuzon, No child should have the weight of the world placed on them at such a young age! What is their rush anyway?" I sighed. "Kuzon dear, is there something you're not saying?" She said in a judging tone that I could never oppose.

"There is some in republic City radicalizing the none benders and the white lotus seems to have become overly dependent on the Avatar."

Gruncle Sokka shock his head at that. "What's wrong with that place it's always benders this non benders that! Look at me and Katara! We are best friends and everywhere else! I mean the Earth queen and our chief are none benders!" I chuckled at that.

"Gruncle Sokka you're the south poles chief." He nodded at that.

"Aaand I'm proud of it!" Everyone laughed at his comedic delivery. "How about we have ourselves some rest and we will figure this out later."

Next morning I woke up to a foot in my cheek and found my Kuki girl drooling asleep. "What did I do to deserve this?"

Yumi answered. "She spent four months kicking me, now she gets to kick you in the face as much as she wants." I chuckled. "What's so funny?"

"That you I think i dislike this." She pinched my cheek for the comment.

"Stop being weird!" She pouted at me and just smirked as Kuki kicked into my chin, I let tears of pain as I had bitten into my tongue. "Ohh that must have hurt." Kuki Yawned and started looking around.

"What happened to daddy?" At that Yumi burst out laughing as my rubbed the bruise she left me. I put the white Lotus get up. "Daddy, capes are stupid."Uncle Sokka snickered at that and I did the same.

We all dressed up mostly because it was part of the job requirement. I sat next to Tonraq as Gran gran showed the young avatar simple water bending techniques. "Are you master Katara's guard?" I shacked my head and pointed to my sleeping daughter who making a snow man. "Oh um." He looked perplexed at me and then Kuki. "Is she your daughter?"

"Yes, she is and I'm just here because it's either this or I have to talk with the grandmaster again, and conversation ended awkward enough." I took a swig from my flask. "So prince of the north how is the south treating you?"

Tonraq looked at me for a moment and sighed. "I just wanted a simple life in the south, but I can't blame anyone for it can I?" I shrugged. "What's your relation to Master Katara?"

"My dad is her son." His eyes bulged almost about to fall out. "Hahaha! Every time seriously!" I gasped from laughing and before the next question came I decided to answer him instantly. "I'm a fire bender, but my sister is a airbender but don't get your hopes up she wouldn't go near the poles. Yes, I will be Korra's firebending teacher when I have the time." He looked at me again.

"So is Tenzin your father?" I gave simple answer to that. "I'm thirty one." He facepalm at that mistake as I continued to Laugh inside my head. "Don't worry you're not the first." I assured him.

"It has to start getting annoying at some point right? I mean everyone mistaking your father." I shrugged as shot a snow ball out of the air. "Kids man I right?" I looked as he ate his words as my Kuki girl was lifting a snow ball the exact her size threw it which caused her to fall on her face and the snow ball land on her head. "Kuki what are you doing?"

She sat back up and laughed. "I'm making a bigger moon, throw it into the sky, so that Gruncle Sokka's girlfriend can come back!" She started rolling the a snow up and Korra looked at us.

"I wanna help!" Korra ran after Kuki.

Tonraq looked at me. "Was this part of your plan?" I shacked my head.

"No, but wouldn't that be gre- Is that gruncle Sokka?" Sokka was helping the two girls rebuild a snow ball to rival the moon. "Well, my family is crazy, I apologize for spreading it to yours." Tonraq burst out laughing and I joined honestly it was funny.

Kuki and Korra had made their Snowball after Gruncle Sokka went back inside with the other adults to drink cactus juice. "How are we goong to send it to the sky spirit?" Korra asked as Kuki lifted the snowball over her head and bent fire from her feet only getting a few inches off before the snowball collapsed on her. "What were you going to do?" She confused.

Kuki pointed at the sun. "I was going fly and give it to the sky spirit!" She tried again and flew up only to land on the snow pile after reaching three feet.

Korra was amazed. "You can fly?!" Kuki just shrugged. "Teach me!"

"Nope." Korra pouted and started shaking her. "Teach me!" Kuki continued to oppose the little avatar. "N-o-o-o-o-o-o, my mom said she would shave my head if I did!" Korra stopped giving the older girl a suspicious look.

"Your Mom's a jerk." She sat down crossed her legs and arms crossed.

"My Papa says:

Fire is alive. it can go mad, can suffer, it is the element that brings power to others or eradicates them. "The fire bender created a flame. "Every time fire is conjured it is thirsty for spirits, breathe air, "He looked at the fire with no emotion and the grew turning blue. "and hunger for anything alive! When a fire is not controlled it will eat its creator and spread like dragon locusts until there is nothing left to eat."

Kuzon explained. "I apologize, his very strict when it comes to fire bending." Yumi sat next to her husband massaging her head as both Korra's parents stared at him in shock. "That comes when you're the fire-bending master," Kuzon smirked before his wife hit him over the head. "And when your grandmother didn't teach you many social skills. I mean his mother's side, that woman could place fear into you just by raising a brow." She got a box out and pushed over. "This is an apology and a gift from the fire lord." She pulled his ear.

"Ow ow stop." She picked her daughter up like luggage. "See you in 20 years or less, oh Fire lord Zuko left a Gift- Stop pulling." Korra shrugged and ran home.

While Kuzon got thrown into the carriage and Kuki sat on her mother's Lap. "Was that you trying scare her parents' int—"

"Yes, no child should be trained from the age of three to be a weapon." He took a swig out of his flask. "Tea?" Yumi took and finished it in one swig. "I deserved that."

She burped. "Yes, next time do that insane thing when I'm not in the room." She yawned and fell asleep.

Kozun chuckled. "Lightweight." he looked at the endless tundra and remembered when he was lost, in it's frozen grip. He looked at the for two woman asleep while he breathed out fire. "Can't wait for the new world, and have it burn you Avatar." I closed my eyes as wind howled as destiny continued it's game.
