Chapter 1

Skipping along a beach, was a young girl, that couldn't have been older than ten to eleven years was casually making her way across the sand beneath her feet.

With her, was a young boy, a year older than her with short white hair looked on with a timid expression.

The third was a girl that was the oldest by another year, who wore a long cloak that covered up her arms, and her white hair. Her eyes displayed mischievousness and loneliness at the same time which was an unusual combination, while she kept her eyes on her siblings before her.

These three were called Lisanna, Elfman, and Mirajane Strauss respectably.

"Come on Mira, lets have some fun, kay?"

Lisanna said with a carefree nature, but Mirajane kept her head back, and gave a slow nod.

She didn't do anything other than that as she turned away from her siblings, her eyes briefly going towards her hand and arm that had a different appearance than human, her eyes couldn't look at it for long and she felt sick, so she turned her eyes away from her hand.

Her eyes darted everywhere, as if she was looking for someone, or something at that.

"L-Lisanna, be careful..."

Elfman murmured, though his voice was quiet, and neither of his sisters heard him.

Mirajane simply sat down on the beach, and watched from afar as her siblings played together. The cheerful smile of Lisanna and the shy but kind one of Elfman, Mira on the other hand simply looked at one of her hands that wasn't anything like the others.

It was something more akin to a Demons hand.

With such a grotesque appearance, at least from Mirajane's perspective, the young girl kept staring at it intently.

Lisanna and Elfman noticed how their sister seemed to act, and were quite worried for her as a result.

While they played and hoped Mira would join them, Mirajane caught the sight of something in her peripheral vision.

So she looked at it keenly, and saw something surprising.

It was a young boy, around a similar age to herself, or her siblings, she couldn't tell fully. So she moved closer and closer, and as she did, she saw a flash of beautiful albeit dirty due to sand blonde hair.

She got before him, seeing the water brush over his body occasionally from the sea beside them.

"Did he wash up on shore?"

Mirajane saw that clothing he wore, wasn't traditional type clothing. It looked like it was barely clinging to his skin, ripped in various places.

She bent down, and placed a hand on his face.

She felt heat.

She looked at his chest, and saw that it was moving up and down ever so slightly.

"Aaaaah!"

Lisanna cried out, so Mirajane turned to see she was looking at the young boy as well.

"Lisanna, don't worry. He's breathing." Mirajane said calmly, as she moved her arms to pick up his body. But she stopped when her Demon hand went to touch him. "Elfman, Lisanna, come and lets take this boy back to our home, okay?"

""Okay!""

They replied strongly, and ran towards Mirajane.

Question upon question laid within Mirajane's mind and she didn't know what to think about it.

Getting back to their quiet home, they placed the boy on a bed, and looked over the young man. Lisanna moved closer, and with childlike wonder, she raised her finger, poking the young mans cheek.

But he had no reaction.

She moved towards the other areas of the bed, looking over the wounds that he had. She saw a nasty looking injury to his head, that was a deep gash, so she did her best to fix that. Though with doing it only one handed as she didn't want to use her Demon hand, she didn't get very far until Lisanna helped her out which Mirajane was grateful for.

She then did the same with the other wounds that he had, the bandages that she had weren't the best, but she did her best to make sure that she treated this boys injuries.

"I wonder who he is?"

Lisanna wondered.

"S-Shouldn't we go and find a doctor?"

Elfman spoke up, but Mirajane looked at her hand.

"...If any of us go to a doctor near us, then they'll all think he's cursed like I am. And most likely, wouldn't bother trying to treat him." She said sadly, inching closer towards him. "However, that doesn't mean we can't treat him ourselves the best that we can. Lisanna, go and get a wet cloth to put on his forehead, and Elfman, cook us some food with what we've got left. I'll do my best to make sure he's fine."

"Okay Mira!"

"Y-Yes big sister!"

The pair left, leaving Mirajane alone with the young boy.

She got close to the bed, and peered at his face.

She lightly smirked and thought "From this angle, he looks kind of cute." in a teasing manner.

Suddenly, when his eyes shoot open, his hand reaches out for her own, grabbing her Demon hand, shocking both of them.

When seeing Mirajane's surprised eyes which held no malice intent, he let go of her hand, sitting up and looked around.

He looked back to Mirajane who pulled her hand under the cloak that she wore, hiding it from view, confusing the young man.

She looked at him, and saw that despite being cautious, he didn't look dangerous, nor did he look as if he was going to attack either, so she was able to relax a little bit, and presumed that shock was the reason why he grabbed her hand, which she thought was rather understandable considering that he woke up in a different place with strangers, she'd react the same if it was her.

When he didn't speak for over a minute, and kept looking at her, she went to speak, when he stopped her with a raised hand, and then pointed at her.

"...Excuse me, but who are you?"

Mirajane exhaled.

"Mirajane. Now tell me, who you are..."

However, as she spoke, as if lightning struck through his head, his eyes widened, and searched the area quickly. But when not finding what he was looking for, he turned back to Mirajane.

"You didn't find anyone with me did you?"

Mirajane shook her head, giving off a sad look to her face.

"No, you were on your own. Sorry about that."

A sad look passed through his eyes, sitting down on the bed dejectedly.

"I see..." Flashes of what happened entered his mind, his hands placed themselves to his face, and he released a small soft shallow breath. "...How long was I out..."

So many questions, he didn't know where to even begin thinking, what he should be feeling right now.

He truly wasn't sure.

Mirajane could see the pain within his eyes, and easily written on his face, so she thought that she should try and at least explain some stuff the best that she possibly could do.

"We found you washed up on shore." Mirajane explained, grabbing his attention. "We couldn't see anyone with you, it seems that you have come a long way. Remember what happened?"

"My head hurts...I don't really remember..."

"I see. Do you remember where you come from?"

Mirajane asked the young man, to which he shook his head.

"Not really...thank you for helping me, but I have to go."

The boy tried to move, having made up his mind.

But a sharp pain ripped through his right hand side, and paused his movements.

"Whoa there, you aren't going anywhere yet." Mirajane pushed the young boy back onto the bed. "Relax, stay. Trust me, its best to do that now. Gotta take care of yourself first before anything else."

The boy blinked as Mirajane looked at him with strong eyes.

Her eyes showed quite the bit of strength behind them.

Strength, and something else as well, something that the boy recognized as loneliness, and fear.

"You're right, thank you." His eyes shifted to the door, then pointed. "A smaller you is over there."

Mirajane blinked, and turned to see Lisanna stood there with the wet cloth Mirajane asked to get her, looking towards the boy in wonder.

"That's my sister." Mirajane leaned forward towards him. "When you're ready, my brother is making food for us."

"Food?" Mirajane nodded. "But, I don't have anything to give you in return."

Mirajane shrugged.

"It's free food."

The boy was even more surprised than ever to hear that.

"Food...for free? You're going to give me food?"

"Why wouldn't I give you any?"

"I'm...just not used to people giving me food, that's all."

Mirajane pulled back, and became perplexed.

She didn't get why he would say such things, that people wouldn't even give him food or anything like that.

But then there was a nasty banging at the door.

[Get out Demon!]

[Leave our town at once!]

The boy looked on, as Mirajane grit her teeth.

"Stay here, I'll deal with this."

"But big sister..."

Lisanna tried to stop her, but Mirajane pulled away and went towards the front door.

While she did, the young man turned towards Lisanna and saw that she had teary eyes.

"Little sister, what's making you cry?"

"H-Huh?" Lisanna turned towards the boy, and saw his eyes on her curiously. "T-Those men...t-they're going to...be mean to my sister...and h-hurt her...I don't...want people to hurt...my sister...she is...a good person...and she...she shouldn't...have to be...hurt..."

Lisanna croaked out her words, almost choking on her own tears due to the fears she had for her elder sister.

"Be mean...to your sister? They'll hurt her? Why?"

"Uh huh...because...they think...my sister...is a bad person...and possessed...but, she isn't...she's a good person...and they don't understand...they only want to hurt my sister..."

She replied with a meek voice.

The boy pulled off of the bed, and moved towards the door.

Lisanna widened her eyes.

"Wait, it's too dangerous..."

"Do not worry, lets see what we can do to help this sister of yours."

Lisanna wondered what he meant, and followed him.

Mirajane on the other hand kept going towards the door.

The banging of the door became louder and louder, with Elfman cowering in the background of the kitchen and seemed to be shaken. Mirajane didn't like seeing her sibling like that and would do what it takes to make sure that they were safe and sound.

So when she did finally get to the door, she opened it and nearly got a rake to the face.

But she reacted in time, and pulled back.

Two men stood at her door, both carrying rakes.

"Demon brat! Leave this town at once!"

"We don't want to be cursed like you!"

Mirajane gave a look as if she had been stung by their words.

Elfman, her brother looked at his sisters sad face, and wished to do something, but his shyness took over, and he froze under the dangerous eyes of the two men.

"We don't want trouble..."

Mirajane tried to speak calmly and civilly to them, but they wouldn't have any of it.

"You are trouble Demon!"

"Yeah, get out now!"

One of the men swung their rakes for her, where Mirajane cringed, her eyes going towards her Demon hand, wondering if their words were right, if she was a Demon and this is what happens to Demons, though she also felt worried for her siblings, and kept going back and forth on what to do.

However, the instance the rake would have connected...it stopped.

"W-What the…?"

The man with the rake shook his rake, but couldn't release it.

Mirajane looked on, and saw the boy had come to her defence.

She watched as his hand tightened, and he broke the wooden handle of the rake, with the metal part falling to the ground before all of them.

"Do not strike this girl."

His words displayed a chilling factor that gave the men pause.

"W-Who the hell are you kid?"

The man demanded, with the other that held another rake lifted it up.

"It's another of the Demon's friends! Get him!"

The man brought his rake to strike the boy, Mirajane's eyes widened.

"No, don't!"

Mirajane warned, and tried to intercept…

But the boy surprised her by effortlessly dodging, then delivering a strong kick to the man's upper body, the force of the kick was more than enough to send him flying backwards, and sent him skidding across the earth.

"W-What the hell?!"

The man that hadn't been kicked raised his fists and swung for the boy several times.

But he dodged each and everyone of them, with Mirajane looking on with surprise.

Then when one fist went to connect, he moved his own fist, and slammed it against the man's, the boy proved to have superior strength and caused mild injuries to the man's hand, the man pulled away and let out a small cry.

"What's wrong with you!? Protecting the Demon like that?!"

The man yelled out in frustration and anxiety at the same time, his fearful eyes displaying the kind of person he was when in regards to Mirajane.

"I do not know why you call this girl a Demon, but the only people I see acting like a Demon right now is you and your friend there." Mirajane and her family were surprised as the young boy pulled forward. "Striking children, and calling them such names in their own home, you should leave immediately, and not bother them again."

The man pulled back, and went towards his friend.

They both looked at the young boy, almost as if they were frightened of him now, yelled "This isn't the end!" and dashed off as fast as they could.

The boy then turned to the perplexed Mirajane.

"Food?"

Mirajane quietly nodded, still surprised by what she had seen.

A small time later on, the three Strauss siblings watched as the young boy not only ate the food out before him, but it seemed like this was the first meal that he had, in a long time. At least of this size, and was eating as fast as he could.

"This is delicious~" The boy complimented, turning towards Elfman. "Younger brother, this is really good. Thank you for making it."

Elfman scratched the back of his head with a childlike smile on his face.

"I-I'm glad you like it..."

Mirajane gave a half bemused look.

"If you don't mind me saying, you took care of those guys pretty well."

"Oh yes, they were easy. They didn't even use Magic."

"And you can?"

Mirajane asked, the boy nods.

"Yes, I know how to use Magic. What about you?"

"No, I don't really know how to use it..."

The young boy turned towards her Demon hand, then towards Mirajane.

Seeing the pain on her face, he chose to drop the subject for now.

Mirajane furrowed her brows, and then laughs.

"By the way, you still haven't told any of us your name."

The boy blinked, then laughed slightly.

"Name...yes, how rude of me. I'm sorry, my name is Genki."

"Genki huh?" Mirajane leaned forward, and lightly poked his cheek. "What a cute name for someone with a cute face~ Genki-kun, sounds so adorable."

She had a teasing voice on, something Lisanna and Elfman were happy to see since they hadn't seen their sister so happy in a while.

As she did however, she raised her hand that was seemingly disfigured, Genki noticed it, and looked towards Mirajane wonderingly.

Mirajane didn't know what to say.

She felt ashamed, embarrassed, and even frightened to a degree due to what she believed others had said to her. The appearance of the hand, and how she also felt about it regarding her family as well.

However, Lisanna spoke up, wanting to help her sister, and to show everyone that she could that her sister was a good person.

"Big sister, she stopped a bad Demon, from attacking the town...and she saved us all...but when she did...her hand turned like that."

"I see, so that's what happened."

Genki murmured, Mirajane folded her arms.

"You know what it means, right? I'm cursed by the Demon."

Genki moved his hand out.

"Can I see your hand?"

Mirajane didn't know if she could.

She was worried about cursing him like she thought she was.

So she threw her hand away and hid it underneath the table.

"N-No, lets talk about something else, that would be better." Mirajane tried deflecting and turned the conversation onto something else. "So...where did you come from?"

"I'm not sure. Somewhere with ice, and snow."

He replied truthfully.

"Ice and snow…? It hasn't been like that around here for months, maybe you're from a place up north?"

Genki shrugged.

"I don't know if I am or not. I don't know how far I was washed away, or for how long I was unconscious."

Lisanna placed her hands to her chest, and felt sorry for him.

Elfman also looked on in sorrow.

Mirajane however was more intrigued.

"So you don't know where you're going to go?"

"No, but I might try going north, if you say that's the place with ice and snow."

"Yeah, that's the best place...though, you probably shouldn't try and go without supplies. It can get pretty cold, and no offence, but that rag you're wearing isn't exactly the best to travel in. And you don't have any shoes either, so you need some or your feet will get all cut and dirty. My advice is to get a map or something and see if you can recognize anything like landmarks."

Though she didn't know much about him, his general vibe, and how he stepped into help her, told her that he wasn't a bad person, and simply was a lost soul, that didn't know how to find his way. Plus, the fact that he hadn't gone running when seeing her hand, or even commented on it negatively was something that she did appreciate if she was honest with herself.

"A map...do you have one?"

"We...We don't, but we...can probably get one from town..."

Mirajane wasn't so confident in that, because of how the village had reacted to them, some that she had seen.

"I see, then I'll go and get one from town tomorrow. Thank you."

Mirajane waved her non Demon hand.

"It's fine, now once you're finished, go and get a bath, so I can wash...your clothing."

She didn't even know if she could call it clothing, but that's all she could call it.

Genki tilts his head, but then nods, bows and walks off.

A small time later, Mirajane goes towards the bedroom that Genki had been in, and thought he was still in the bath, so she opened the door, with a towel in her hands.

But when she did, she paused, seeing the young man's wet body.

From head to toe, in one single glance.

He looked at her with an innocent gaze, which didn't help Mirajane either.

Her face went through several shades of red, turning away almost immediately, blushing profusely.

"O-Ooh God! I'm so sorry! I thought you were in the bath!"

"Just got out, is that towel for me?"

Mirajane couldn't look back, instead she thrusted her arms forward her head still facing the other way.

"Y-Yeah, its for you..."

Mirajane felt the towel being taken off of her hands, and moments later, he wrapped it around his hips.

"Thanks very much, you're very kind."

Mirajane fumbled with her bottom lip, still looking away, and shakes her head almost robotic like.

"G-Goodnight! See body tomorrow...no! I-I mean I will see you...with no clothes on...with clothes on tomorrow! Yes, that's what I mean!"

Mirajane made a hasty retreat, Genki let out a small bemused chuckle, and smiled to himself.

The next day, Genki was surprised to see that when he woke up, outside of the door to the room he slept in, was a note, along with some clothing. He even saw shoes, and socks, something that he hadn't ever seen really before.

He picks them up, and takes them inside.

He then looks over them, and begins putting them on. The shirt was a bit big, and the same for the pants, for his slender frame, but he didn't care. Even the shoes were a bit big for his feet, even then the fact that they went out of their way to go and get him some stuff like this meant the world to him.

"Mirajane-san and her family...they are good people, I should help them if I can, as a thanks for helping me...but how to begin...her hand, it must be some magic, if she would let me look and feel it I could confirm, I don't think she is cursed..."

He mused within his mind, before finishing getting dressed.

He then walked towards the kitchen, to see the Strauss siblings.

"There, looks like an improvement."

Mirajane expresses with her signature smirk.

"Yes...you got them for me, that was very kind of you."

Mirajane shrugged her shoulders.

"I had time this morning, didn't know your exact size, so I guessed. Are they fine?"

Genki spins around then nods.

"Yes, they're fine."

"Great!" Lisanna coos out. "Lets have breakfast, okay?"

Lisanna rushes over, takes his hand and drags him towards the dining table.

They then began eating their food, while talking about various things. With Lisanna asking some more questions, Elfman doing the same albeit a bit more shyly, and Mirajane simply listening in and not contributing much.

But then Elfman turns to Mirajane.

"Big sister, we're running low on food."

Mirajane drops her brow ever so slightly.

"Right..."

"I'll get them big sis!"

Lisanna cheered out, Mirajane shook her head.

"Not alone, not here. They might..."

Mirajane bit her lip, as thoughts came of what others might say or do to Lisanna due to her Demon hand and how they reacted.

Genki on the other hand tilted his head, before nodding.

"I'll go with her."

Mirajane's eyes widened, while Lisanna looked pleased.

"You will? Yay, then we can talk even more!"

"But..."

Mirajane wasn't so sure.

She didn't think Genki would be a danger to Lisanna, but she did think that if the mob would try anything with them, she didn't want to place either in danger.

So Genki assured her.

"Do not worry, I will make sure your sister is fine. It will...be a repayment for the kindness you've shown me."

"Are...you sure? You still need to recover..."

"I can fight, I can protect her. It seems you're worried, because of your hand, and how those people reacted, they might try something with your sister?"

"Yeah...that's right."

"Then have no fear, she will be fine with me. I will guard her."

Mirajane wasn't used to trusting others.

But at the same time, she also knew that he was pretty strong, and how he was able to beat two adults with relative ease.

"...Alright, make sure she's safe, okay?"

"Will do."

Mirajane nodded, and thought about following from the shadows...yes, that's what she would do, just to make sure. Since she didn't fully know Genki yet, while she didn't believe he was a bad person, she still had to make sure fully.

A little while later, Lisanna and Genki began walking through the streets, with Mirajane sticking to the shadows the best that she could. Genki was fully aware that she was indeed following after them, but he didn't mind, and understood quite well that's what she'd be doing.

Lisanna asked question after question to Genki, the boy did his best to answer any and all of them.

While walking, he noticed how people would turn away and try to avoid them completely.

When they did, Lisanna looked sad, Genki on the other hand didn't seem to react to them at all.

People looking at him was hardly anything he'd have to worry about.

But when seeing Lisanna sad, he wasn't someone that liked it.

"You are worried, about those people?"

Lisanna's eyes shifted towards Genki, and adopted a sad smile.

"Not so much for me, but...for my big sister..."

"Your big sister is quite tough."

Genki replied to her, Lisanna nodding.

"She is...but she didn't...do anything to deserve this...she saved everyone from a Demon...that was in the Church of this town...since then, they...they've been nothing but cruel...and they want to hurt my sister..."

"If it is so bad, why not leave?"

Lisanna paused, as did Mirajane.

"I...I don't know...where would we go? This is our home...this is the only place we know."

"Home...a friend told me...that home is the place where people love you. With your sister and brother...wherever they are, wouldn't that be your home?"

Mirajane paused, as she felt a pulse from her heart.

His words touched her quite well.

Even Lisanna felt the effects of the words, and cupped her hands to her chest.

"Yes...maybe you're right. So, Genki-san, where is your home?"

"Wherever the people I love are."

"Do you have family?"

Lisanna asked, but then regretted it as she didn't want to make him feel depressed.

However, he shook his head.

"I have no family, as far as I am aware. I know some people, and even then, they could be gone by now. So, once I'm fully healed, I'll be going to find them. I'd suggest, if this isn't the place for you..." His eyes shifted back to Mirajane in the shadows. "...then perhaps find a place that will accept you, or, build a place all your own."

Mirajane thought about his words, and the more she did, the more they made sense to her.

Lisanna showed a small smile, as they entered a local shop.

"Maybe...you're right, I would love it for big sister to be happy, I don't want her to be sad anymore."

"You're very kind Lisanna-san, I can see you really love your big sister, its nice to see that."

Genki said it as he patted her head.

She smiled even more as they got some of the food.

However, as Lisanna grabbed one of the last potatoes, someone snatched it out of her hand, and scoffed "Not for the Demon's sister." with a sinister look, Lisanna retracted her hand and adopted teary eyes.

Mirajane from the shadows looked super pissed off.

She went to go and say something, when Genki pulled closer, and tapped his shoulder.

"You stole that from her. Give it back."

The man gave a dismissal look.

"As if, brat. You side with the Demon, you can get lost."

Genki tilts his head, before simply swiping the potato back, and gave it to Lisanna.

The man didn't look pleased with that, and tried to push Genki, only for the young man to avoid him and continue on.

The man growled, and picked up a vegetable, and threw it at Genki's head as he faced away.

To his astonishment, Genki, without looking, caused the vegetable to stop in air via telekinesis shocking both Mirajane and the man who threw it.

Genki reached back, grabbed the vegetable, turning back to the man who jumped, his eyes etching into fear as Mirajane snickered at the sight, glad that he was rather capable.

"Ready to go Lisanna-san?"

"Yes, lets go!"

Genki then placed the vegetable down, and simply walked off with Lisanna.

Lisanna herself smiled, and managed to get everything they needed, before walking off back to the Strauss home.

Later that night, Genki was outside of the house, and to the on looking Mirajane, she watched as he was doing some simple exercises. Moving left and right, kicking and punching forward. To her, it seemed like he was trying to test out his body and see what he currently was capable of doing.

In the middle of that, Elfman came out and looked amazed by what Genki was doing.

"E-Excuse me sir..."

Genki paused, and turned to Elfman.

"Yes?"

"F-Food is ready..."

"I see, then let us go inside"

Elfman nodded.

But then stopped and inched closer.

"W-Wait...erm...Lisanna...she told me...that you were...strong, and helped her today..."

"Some people tried to harm her, but they didn't get very far."

Elfman became more enamored as he pushed his hands together.

"I-I'm so happy! I wish I could protect my sisters!"

"You can't now?"

Elfman shook his head.

"I...I don't know, I'm not strong..."

"Maybe ask your sister for some advice in getting stronger, I can see that she is already very strong."

Mirajane nodded slowly as Elfman gives a shy look.

"Yes...she is strong...but, I want to...be a man...and protect her..."

"You want to be a man?"

"Yes...like you."

"No, I am currently not classed as a man. I am a child."

Elfman did a spit take, while Mirajane snorted.

"I-I-I mean...be strong like you...like a man would be..."

Genki slowly nods, and moves closer, patting his head.

"In time, I'm sure that you will. Plus, remember your family, they are very important and will help you grow stronger, give you something to keep safe."

Elfman listened to his words, while Mirajane looked on with intrigue.

The more she found out about him, the more she was becoming curious by the moment...

For the next two days, Genki and the Strauss siblings became closer and closer. Talking, laughing and enjoying one another's company. And the more that they did, the more Mirajane would relax, she'd even not try and cover her Demon hand.

Though she avoided the topic as much as humanly possible.

Even with that, it was something that they all liked.

However, Genki, in the middle of the dinner, spoke up.

"Excuse me everyone. Tomorrow, I shall be leaving you all. Thank you for everything you've done for me, I wont forget your kindness."

With that, Lisanna and Elfman's faces turned sadder.

Mirajane didn't say anything, but she also did look a little depressed.

"Y-You are?"

Elfman croaked out, Lisanna nodding.

"Do you have to?"

Mirajane wished to ask the same thing, but she also understood something.

"He has people to look for, we can't ask him to stay."

Lisanna and Elfman bowed their heads.

Genki looks towards Mirajane and saw that she didn't have any expressions on her face.

Neither sadness or joy.

"You should eat a lot tonight then, it might be a while before you can eat like this again."

"Yes...thank you Mirajane-san."

Mirajane nods, and goes quiet.

She watches her siblings express to Genki how they didn't want him to go.

All she could think about was that she had found someone that wasn't so bad, that knew of her Demon hand, and still didn't say anything. Even after these days together, he didn't say anything negative, and they even ended up having fun.

Late into the night, Genki got up from his sleep when he heard a sound coming from down the corridor.

He moved silently out of the room, and walked towards the sound.

When he saw light within the kitchen, he moved down towards the kitchen.

Standing at the entrance, but hidden behind a wall, he peaked in and saw letters on the table.

They all had similar words like "We hate the Demon!" and "Get the Demon out of the village!" and other things like that, there seemed to be many of them, Genki noticed that Mirajane was sat at the table and was shedding a few tears as a result of the notes.

He closed his eyes, and reflected on what he had experienced until now.

What he was experiencing within the house he was in right now.

"Humans can be so cruel...these three...this is a family...it seems that they really do care for one another... But, seeing her cry...she shouldn't cry...first, I have to help this girl...they've been kind to me...maybe I can be there for her now...yes, I have to do something to help these people."

Taking in a deep breath, Genki walked into the room, giving Mirajane a fright.

She immediately dried up her tears, and shook her body several times.

"I-I wasn't..." Frantically, she tried to cover the letters that she had. "...W-What are you doing out of bed anyway? You should get some rest. You're leaving tomorrow, right?"

"I will, and I am. But, I heard sounds, sad sounds that I remembered from...the past." Genki pulled closer as he thought about his life, sitting down beside Mirajane, and looked at her hand. "Mirajane-san, about your hand..."

He thought, before he left, he could at least try and help her out one last time.

However, Mirajane rejected it, since it was a touchy subject.

"I don't want to talk about my hand."

"Because it looks like a Demons?"

Mirajane shook her head.

"It doesn't just look like it..." Mirajane pulled her hand up, and stared at it with disgust. "It is a Demon's hand. It feels like it...I can feel the rough skin, the ugliness of it...I've been possessed by the Demon...I'm causing problems for my siblings, people hate them and attack them because of me...I'm supposed to protect them, guide them and be there for them...but, how can I do that like this…? All I do is cause them pain...and it hurts me. I don't...want to hold them back."

Genki looked at Mirajane, and saw that she did have some hard feelings about the hand that she had. More than that, she was worried for her siblings, and what could happen to them because of the hand that she had now, knowing that the villagers wouldn't stay away from her forever, and they'd eventually come.

Genki moved closer to the young girl, and stared at the hand intently.

His eyes danced across the different parts of the hand, before he presented his own hand towards her.

"Can I see your hand? I might be able to help you, at least tell you what it might be."

Mirajane wasn't so sure.

She didn't want to pass on the curse if she was cursed.

"You wont curse me, nor am I disgusted with your hand either. I just wish to confirm something, that's all."

Mirajane widened her eyes.

"How did you...know I was thinking that?"

"I could tell by how you looked unsure, and how you were keeping your hand out of view of me. As I said, you don't have to be worried, I am not disgusted with your hand, and if I am right, then I don't think it is a curse."

When she saw his eyes on her own, something inside of her told her to believe that this was something that she could trust. That maybe it would be best to give her hand to him, so she began reaching out.

"Why aren't you disgusted with it? Everyone else is..."

"I've seen...many disgusting things and Mirajane-san, you are by no means a disgusting person."

Mirajane looked at her already extending towards him hand, then looked into his eyes.

She pulled back a few times.

But when she finally connected his hand with her own, she expected something to happen.

That maybe the Demon might try and possess him as well.

However, to her astonishment, nothing happened at all.

In fact, it seemed that he was completely calm and collected at the same time.

He examined the hand, and then nodded after a few moments.

"Yes, this hand is filled with Magic. I can feel it more clearly now. Though I am...not sure what Magic it is, I do know that it is Magic. So, there must be ways to turn it off. I would suggest going to find someone that would help you. Maybe some kind of wizard master or something, they might know more than I would. Or maybe it is in a magic book. Once knowing what it is, it will be easier to have your hand go back to how it was before."

Mirajane looked at her hand, and then towards Genki once more with disbelief, yet hope at the same time.

"This...is just Magic…?"

"Yes, it is. I can feel the magical power now from contact. You don't know how to control it yet. But with time, you can learn to control it once understanding what it actually is."

Mirajane didn't know what to say.

If she took his words as truth, then all this was, was Magic.

That she wasn't cursed.

"I'm really...not cursed?"

"No Demon has cursed you Mirajane-san. In fact, I can sense you have a high level of magical power."

Mirajane began crying.

But she was happy.

She...wasn't cursed after all.

She was just using Magic.

Even if she didn't know what kind of Magic it was, it was still Magic, and that was okay with her.

She then felt his hand overlap with her own, her Demon hand, and saw his smile on towards her, so she allowed her hand to hold his in return, whispering "Thank you." but Genki just continued to smile, and offer his comfort towards her this way.

However, in the middle of that, all of a sudden, a loud crashing came in from behind them.

Genki looked to see that a stone had been thrown through the window, and then saw some more coming through the window, so he pulled her down below the table.

"No, Lisanna! Elfman!"

Mirajane tried to get out, but Genki swiftly said "I'll get them." and rushed away.

Mirajane watched him come back a few moments later, with Elfman and Lisanna rushing to Mirajane, hugging her while Genki looked outside through one of the broken windows, seeing a mob had gathered outside.

Pitchforks, and torches.

Genki then turned towards Mirajane, who was comforting her siblings, as he heard people shouting things like "Get the Demon out!" and "Leave Demon!" among other hurtful, and hateful things that they were saying.

"It seems that some townspeople have gathered. They're calling for you."

Mirajane clicked her tongue.

"So they've finally decided to make a move." Mirajane began standing up. "Hey, Genki. Do me a favour, stay with Lisanna and Elfman."

"And you'll be doing?"

"Going out to confront them."

Lisanna shook her head.

"No, big sister! You can't!"

"Y-Yeah, please don't!"

Elfman added, Mirajane however had made up her mind.

"It's fine, I wont let them hurt my family."

Genki lowered his face, as he heard her say that.

It reminded Genki of his own circumstances.

He watched as Lisanna however suddenly marched to the door, with Mirajane looking shocked.

"Lisanna, don't..."

Elfman called out, but Lisanna opened the door.

Looking at the townspeople, she looked back to her sister, and saw that she held sad eyes.

So Lisanna turned back, and began yelling.

"Don't hurt my sister! Please...she didn't do anything wrong! She protected everyone of us! She fought that Demon and won! You should be thanking her, not trying to hurt her! So please stop this, let us live peacefully!"

At the shout of Lisanna, Mirajane looked equally parts astonished and stunned at the same time.

Genki on the other hand looked happy with what Lisanna had said.

Lisanna then begins tearing up, and falls down to her knees, so Mirajane goes over, and comforts her. She also notices that Elfman was crying at the same time, and looked at the pair of them.

"You don't need to cry Lisanna, Elfman. It's okay."

Genki watches on, and sees the love and dedication that they have for one another.

He was rather touched by their words, and the way that they were together.

It was humble, and kind, a family.

However, while doing so, he saw a rock aimed for Lisanna.

Mirajane gasped, and hugged her sister tightly.

When Genki used telekinesis to stop it mid air, and caused it to fly out of the window, hitting the man who threw it, forcing him down to the ground.

He then stepped outside, and looked between all of those around.

"If you want to have a fight, then you can have a fight with me."

Those around hesitated.

But one didn't, and he immediately rushed forward, and swung his weapon out.

Reacting to it, Genki grabs the wood and snaps it in half, before doing a palm strike to the chest, using enough force to send him flying back, but not enough to cause permanent damage, his eyes swimming as he hits the floor.

Seeing how he defeated him so effortlessly, most of the adults were worried.

But some brave ones sneered.

"Look, it's another Demon kid."

"This one looks normal enough."

"Still, we need to drive them out."

Genki looked at them, and shook his head.

"I wont allow you to get to these three. They were kind to me when they didn't even know me, not the actions of an evil Demon is it? If you want to see a real demonic presence, then look in the mirror, because the demonic presences in this town is within the hearts of those that turned on this girl. She stopped a Demon wanting to kill you all, she bravely stood against it when no one else could, defeating it by herself, and this is how you repay her? By attacking her and her family? Her hand, is Magic, she is not cursed."

Sympathizing with Mirajane and the others, he didn't want anything to happen to them.

However, some didn't listen and charged.

Mirajane was worried, and yet she cried at the same time due to the beautiful words she was hearing…

But what she saw next astounded her.

One after the other, Genki bodied them within one blow.

Using minimal movements, he took them down without even using Magic it seemed.

They couldn't stand up to Genki's force, and he repelled them all.

He then leapt up, and spun in the air, delivering an axe kick to the ground, with enough physical strength to cause the ground to rupture out around him, spreading a good distance, shocking the townspeople as they began running away.

"To everyone in this town, these three are off limits. Do not attack them again, or I will have to get involved, is that understood?"

With his words going towards each of them, they did indeed look worried.

They nodded, and ran off, leaving Genki alone with the others.

Mirajane looked on, before moving closer, tears dancing between each blink she did.

"Genki...that was..."

"I, am so sorry for what these people did to you. Mirajane-san, you are one of the best people I have met, never lose that kindness you have inside you. Don't listen to these people."

Mirajane was thankful, so was Lisanna and Elfman.

Genki was glad he could help, seeing the three looking safe, it was something that made him happy.

The following day, Genki was packed, and ready to leave. After the events of the previous night, the villagers made sure to stay clear away from the Strauss siblings, and when Genki was shown, they panicked and ran away, though Genki didn't care about that.

Having gathered the stuff that he would need, including some supplies the Strauss siblings would give him, he looked towards each of them.

Part of him wanted them to go with him, but he also thought of the dangers, and was torn on what to do.

"Good luck Mirajane-san, Lisanna-san, Elfman-san."

Lisanna became teary eyed, and shook her head.

"Yo-You really have to go?"

"Yes, I have to go and find some people. Seeing your family, has given me hope that I can find the people I am looking for."

Elfman shyly pulled forward.

"Y...You really protected my sisters...thank you very much!"

"It was no problem."

Mirajane adopted a small smile on her face.

"I'm glad that we found you on the beach."

"Me as well, I could have died."

Mirajane coughed, then saw that he had a semi joking look on his face, so she punched him playfully in the arm, though he didn't seem to react at all.

"Haha...so, you're going north, right?"

"Best way to go, I'll start there, and see where else I can go if they aren't there. Maybe my friends are alive. If they are, then I will do my best to find them. But what about you? Will you stay here?"

Mirajane shook her head.

"No, we wont be staying here. I'll be taking your advice, and going to find someone to help me with my hand. If it is Magic, then there has to be ways to make sure that it can switched off, right?"

Genki nods.

"Yes, I am sure of it. Good luck Mirajane-san, I'm sure with you around, your family will be safe. I can see it, you're very tough."

Mirajane lightly laughed.

"Don't you forget it either."

Genki shows a tiny smile.

His eyes go over each of the Strauss siblings, and how they were together.

He really did like it.

He was sure one day, maybe he could have something like the Strauss siblings had together.

He then bowed his body, and looked at each of them.

"Thank you, Mirajane-san, Elfman-san, Lisanna-san. Be safe, and we'll see each other again someday."

"Yeah...we'd like that."

Mirajane smiles out.

Lisanna and Elfman note that the smile their sister wore, was a genuine one.

"Goodbye, see you later."

Genki waved, as the others also said their goodbyes.

He turned around and began walking away.

However, as he did, he felt Lisanna coming closer, and saw that she was crying, so he stopped, and turned towards her.

"You don't need to cry, we will see one another again."

Genki assured her, patting her head.

He looked towards Mirajane, seeing her eyes turning away slightly, yet would look towards him.

Looking to Elfman, he also had similar eyes to Lisanna, sad ones.

Turning back to Lisanna, he exhaled slowly.

He felt deep inside, the confliction but also...he really liked being with them, and he didn't want to depart from them...so he thought maybe he could be with them for a little while longer.

"Mirajane-san...erm... "

"Yeah?"

Genki took in a few breaths, seeing Mirajane fully paying attention to him.

"You might not want to follow me...but, maybe...erm...you could come with me? If you wanted. At least until we find away to restore your hand to what it was before. I wont lie, it could be dangerous, I don't want to place you in any danger..."

"Danger huh?" Mirajane showed a half confident look. "You forget, I did take out a Demon you know? So if you're going somewhere that's dangerous, we might as well go as a group, safety in numbers and all that."

Genki showed a smile.

Mirajane also showed a smile.

Neither had said it yet, but both were glad to be on the same page.

"Great, with that settled. I'll wait for you to get your things, then we can be going."

Mirajane waved her hand, and stepped inside.

Seconds later, she came out with three bags, Lisanna and Elfman grabbed theirs, to the bewilderment of Genki.

It seemed they had already prepared without him knowing.

Lisanna grinned, and rushed to Genki.

"Big sister was hoping you'd ask us to go with you, she said she didn't want to impose."

"Lisanna!"

Mirajane chided with her face looking unexpectedly nervous, as Genki chuckled, surprised to see Mirajane look like that.

"Is that true Mirajane-san?"

Mirajane looked half embarrassed, and half annoyed.

"W...Well, maybe. B-But...don't read into it, you know how Lisanna is by now." Lisanna looked confused by that. "So, heading up north huh?"

"Think so. Best place to start."

"Great, then lets get going."

The group nod, and begin leaving the town together.

Moving up a mountain, when getting a good distance up, so high they could overlook the town, the trio stopped and stared at the town they had called home.

Good, yet painful memories circulated the trio.

Genki stayed silent, and waited for them to do what they needed, either say goodbye, or have one last look before going.

"Its strange...in the end, I had so many painful memories here." Mirajane began, turning towards Genki. "But, maybe not all memories here are bad."

"Memories are good things to have, now you can make many happy memories together with your siblings."

Mirajane lightly laughed, nodding as they continued looking over the village they used to live.

When they were ready, they began departing with one another.

"By the way, Mirajane-san."

Mirajane raised a brow at Genki.

"What?"

"You know, I have always wondered something." Genki turned his eyes to the sky, showing a small smile. "Do you think fairies have tails?"

Mirajane was baffled by that question, shrugging her shoulders.

"No idea."

Genki offered his hand towards her Demon one, showing that he had no fear of her hand whatsoever.

"Then, do you want to find out?"

Mirajane adopted a small smirk, reaching out her hand, her Demon one at that, grasping the young mans hand tightly, before all four of them took off together, entering into a new journey.

End chapter!

So, that's the beginning of the story! For those unaware of the poll I had, Genki is going to be a Dragon Slayer.

As for Genki himself, some mysteries have been set up, that will be explained later down the line as the story goes on, like how he came to find himself on a beach in such a condition, or who the people he is looking for are, and thankful to the Strauss siblings, he did his best to help them out, now they'll be travelling together for a little while.

Now onto his Dragon Slayer Magic. I have some that I thought would fit best, so you can all vote on if you'd like!

Moon Dragon Slayer.

Sage Dragon Slayer.

Water Dragon Slayer.

Those are the choices! The first two I could see having some fun with them with what they can do, with Moon Dragon Slayer and its moonlight capabilities, and Sage Dragon Slayer enhancing magical abilities, the last one I thought on top of being fun to play around with, it would be funny to see him try and 'eat' Juvia to replenish his magic.

So yeah, if you're interested, please vote! And as this is a harem, suggestions always welcome.
