(Hello my lovelies! My friend, and I watched Star Trek; Into Darkness again for the first time in a while, and I fell in love with Bones all over again. This is the result lol! I hope you enjoy! Please let me know what you think, and feel free to give any constructive criticism! A little cheat sheet (y/n)= your name, (e/c)= eyes color, (h/c)= hair color. Same stuff as usual lol! I unfortunately do not own Star Trek, or its characters. Only our lovely OCs. Anyways, on with the story!)
Everything was going fine. It was a normal exploration mission. Everything was fine. Until it wasn't.
You were sent out on an exploration mission on the surface of a planet that had strange life signs. There were several planets clustered together in a very small area; all of which had extremely hostile life forms of similar ability. Almost every mission had ended in a hostage situation, and the deaths of most, if not all, the exploration crew. So when a new planet was found you insisted on going with the exploration team. At first the Captain was against the whole idea, but you argued as the Security Chief of the ship the exploration team was your responsibility. You refused to let any more of your people be killed. At first the captain was adamant in his refusal, but you would not back down from this. You would die on this hill. Your only hope was that your "womanly ways of persuasion", as Bones had once called it, would be enough to convince your captain to let you go.
"Jim, as the Security Chief and Chief Tactical Officer of this ship it makes the safety of all these men and women my responsibility. I will take a squad I have hand selected to protect the away team. It only makes sense that I go with them to ensure their safety. I am the most highly trained individual in hand to hand combat, alien weaponry, and much more. Must I continue to list my credentials, and prove it is a good idea for me to go with the landed party?" You questioned, cocking your head.
At this Kirk's CMO betrayed him by giving a short laugh at your comment. A fleeting moment of amusement, and happiness that only a few people could induce. But ever since the 4 of you had become close friends those moments had been coming more often.
"It would be the most logical solution, Captain," Spock interjected. You thanked the stars for Spock in that moment, but then cursed them for Kirk's next words.
"Fine, but if you're bringing a specialized security team then I'm sending at least one medical officer. Bones, you're going with them," Kirk said.
"What?" You both said in unison, not fully believing what your captain had just said.
"Bones is going with your team. The injuries the away team sustained were-" Kirk paused, trying to find the right words.
"Horrific? Vile? Grotesque?" You offered.
"All of the above," Kirk sighed," But from what M'Benga and Bones have said most of the deaths could have been prevented if there was a medical officer with the away team. Bones, you have the most experience, and knowledge. And with wounds like these we're gonna need experience."
You knew there was no point in arguing with him. He was right, and you all knew it. However the thought of Bones being put in that kind of danger made your stomach turn. You had been secretly harboring feelings for the gorgeous doctor for years. The second you had seen him all those years ago when you all boarded the Enterprise you knew working in close proximity with him would wreak havoc on your mind.
Kirk dismissed the 2 of you, so you could get ready for the exploration mission. Your mind wandered to images of the dead bodies of your colleagues. The men and women you were supposed to protect. The weapons the aliens used were laced with some kind of toxin that made the skin around the wound slowly melt away, and turn the nerves a strange purple color. The ones who had survived the toxin described feeling as if they were being set on fire from the inside. While not all the weapons were laced with the toxin, some of the crew had minor unaffected cuts, most of them were. The toxin thankfully was much like others that they had encountered, and there was already an antidote for the other previously encountered toxin. It only needed minor tweaking for it to be effective, but it had to be administered to the victim within minutes of being injured. If it was not the antidote had a 30-70 % chance of working. The odds were not good if you had been injured, and did not get the antidote in time. There was no time to tweek it though
"(Y/n)," you were brought out of your focused state by Bones calling your name.
"Sorry, yeah, what were you saying?" You respond, hoping to goodness that he hadn't said anything too important.
"I asked if you were ok? You were completely zoned out," Bones replied, looking slightly concerned.
"I was just thinking about the mission," you stated, wanting to keep your answer vague.
"Don't worry, I'll bring plenty of the antidote. We'll make sure no one else dies," he responded, putting a hand on your shoulder for reassurance.
You expected some remark riddled with sass, but none came. You didn't know if it was because he was worried about the mission, or if it was something else. Either way the lack of remark confused you. He smiled at you, and gave your shoulder a soft squeeze before walking away.
You called your team to the transporter platforms as soon as you went your separate ways with Bones. The team consisted of 4 of your people, one security team member for every member of the away team. Your team was to watch over the scientists and Bones while you generally watched over everyone, but you knew your eyes would linger on Bones for longer than you would have liked to admit.
You all stood on the transport pad with a nervous energy flowing around you.
"Beam us down Scotty," You said.
