A/N: Hi everyone! It's not been too long but I couldn't resist :D this is my second part to my series following my OC Elsie, if you haven't read it I'd suggest going back to "To The End of Time" and reading it first before you get into this part.
Anyways! Here's the second part, hope you enjoy and don't forget to review! Thank you so much to everyone that did in my first story and kept me going - and if I get through to season 3 and still want to keep going I'll definitely give writing about Elsie and Five in the apocalypse a go!!
On April the 1st, 2019, the Earth was destroyed in a cataclysmic event. Billions of people were wiped out in a matter of minutes. Ironically, the seven survivors of the apocalypse were the very siblings who brought it on.
Elsie landed with a grunt, hitting the ground hard as she fell through Fives portal for the second time in about a week. She groaned as she curled up on her side, not daring to open her eyes as she fought through the tirade of possibilities that were hitting her. She remained curled up until the images stopped, not daring to open her eyes to confirm what she suspected, that Five wasn't there.
Unsure of how long she had lay there she eventually let out a breath and took the plunge. She opened her eyes pushing herself up as he head thrummed, feeling somewhat disappointed at seeing only a dusty looking alley and no Hargreeves - she'd even take Diego for company.
Sighing to herself she looked up at the sky, noting the sun was out but the portal that had spat her out was gone, leaving her alone in a time zone. She sighed.
"Well this will be fun." She muttered sarcastically, finally pushing herself to her feet and looking down the alley to the street nearly groaning as she saw the cars and signs, "oh and it's the 60s, even better."
Elsie took a slow walk down the alley, brushing off her skirt as she walked and eyeing the street in front of her. She stepped out onto the street and turned left, spying a newspaper stand and heading straight over. She silently picked up the paper, ignoring the shouting salesman as she eyed the date.
1st November 1963
"Well, at least I'm not being hunted down I guess." She shrugged, earning a weird glance from the salesman and a customer that had just joined him. She glanced over her shoulder sending them a half smile and let out a light laugh, before setting back down the paper and walking back the way she came.
She eyed the alley she had arrived in, her eyes squinting as she as one window in particular caught her attention, swearing she saw the curtain move and a figure flash away. Elsie took a step towards the door only to immediately turn and throw a punch at the person who had appeared behind her. The person expected it, holding their arm up to block it. Elsie's eyes widened at the man in front of her, dropping her arms.
"Hazel?" The man nodded.
"Hey Elsie." He replied. Elsie eyed the greying man, frowning at the briefcase in his hand but not making any other moves to attack, expecting a non-commission related explanation. Hazel let out a breath, seeing a dangerous look on Elsie's face.
"I've come to help you." Elsie frowned at him.
"Help me how?" She questioned. She was alone and slightly vulnerable without Five as back up and no weapons. Hazel gestured to the briefcase.
"To get to Five." He shrugged. Elsie eyed him more, trying to judge if he was telling the truth or not before looking down and sighing, already knowing she really didn't have many options.
"Let's go." She agreed, grabbing into Hazels extended hand.
Elsie let out a small hum of pain, closing her eyes and biting her lip as they arrived whenever they were, knowing they hadn't gone far from the quick sharp pain. Hazel looked over at her for a moment before turning his attention to the scene in front of him. Elsie cracked her eyes open, letting out a small gasp as she saw the carnage in front of her.
There were tanks and body's scattered everywhere, smoke flying from some of the many buildings on fire, instantly making her think back to the apocalypse. Elsie could feel her hands begin to ball up and her breathing shallow as she began to panic. She turned on the spot, taking it all in as she tried to keep herself together, already feeling the familiar flashbacks coming on. Elsie bit her lip lifting a hand up to run through her hair, when she felt Hazel nudge her shoulder and looked up at him. She frowned, seeing his attention elsewhere and followed his face, her fears fading as she saw the familiar figure standing just ahead of them. Elsie felt her stomach flutter and a smile come to her face despite the carnage that surrounded her.
"Five." She breathed, her voice gaining Five attention instantly. She could see him visibly deflate as his eyes met hers.
"If you wanna live, come with us." Hazel shouted across to Five. Fives eyes peeled themselves away from Elsie to glance at Hazel.
"Hazel. What the hells going on here?" Five asked, taking a step away from the battle towards Hazel and Elsie. Elsie tore her eyes from Five as she heard shouting. Peering down the street, her eyes widening as she saw the other Hargeeves siblings fighting what looked like Russian soldiers and using their abilities.
"There's no time to explain. Those are nukes old-timer." Hazel offered, pointing up to the sky drawing Elsie's attention over to the other end of the street where she could see trails in the sky.
"What about my family?" Five replied, glancing between Elsie and his siblings, not wanting to leave them again. Elsie bit her lip, seeing his internal conflict and took a step forward, grabbing his hand. Silently agreeing to do whatever he felt they needed to.
"You can't save 'em if you're dead." Hazel shrugged, holding out his hand to the two teens. Five stared into Elsie's eyes once more before letting out a breath and grabbing the offered hand.
Elsie felt like screaming as she landed in the third new time zone in less than an hour, but managed to refrain, biting her lip instead. Her head was pounding from the traveling and she honestly thought it was going to explode if they had to travel one more time. She closed her eyes yet again and leaned against Five who cast her a worried look, seeing her wincing in pain.
"Okay... what the hell was that?" Five asked as he glanced around to check it was safe, wrapping his arm around Elsie's waist to help keep her standing.
"The end of the world, November 25, 1963." Hazel replied grimly, staring at the two teens as Elsie lifted a hand to rub the side of her head and opened her eyes.
"'63..." Five muttered before scoffing, "You know, Hazel, I'm no history buff but I don't recall there being a nuclear holocaust."
"No shit." Hazel responded.
"What about my family?" Five asked, feeling he already knew the answer but needed to check.
"Dead, like everyone else." Hazel voiced. Elsie let out a sigh and broke away from Five to lean against a nearby bench, shaking her head to try and reduce the pain.
"And where are we now?" She asked, glancing over at Hazel.
"Dallas. Same street. Ten days earlier. Plenty of time to restore the timeline and save them." Hazel revealed as he took a seat on the bench Elsie was leaning on. Elsie tilted her head, trying to stand up a bit straighter. She looked around, her eyes narrowing in thought as she realised they'd returned to just about where she'd landed when she first arrived.
"Okay. So where do we start?" Five asked, taking a seat beside Hazel. Hazel looked at the two teens like they were crazy.
""We"? You two on your own, pal. I'm just here to keep a promise to Agnes." Elsie and Five shared a small glance before staring back at the taller man.
"Is she...?" Five trailed off, not quite wanting to press the matter, very much knowing how he'd feel if Elsie was dead, having just experienced the fear and despair for the past few minutes when he had arrived and she was nowhere to be seen.
"Dead?" Hazel clarified.
"Yeah." Five responded. Hazel nodded.
"Cancer. Took her quick." Elsie placed a hand on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze, "But we had 20 good years together. I guess forever just wasn't in the cards."
"I'm sorry, Hazel." Elsie offered Hazel though her eyes trailed away to follow a bus that was just passing, Five also nodding his apologies.
"What about the Commission?" Five asked as Elsie stood up straighter, eyeing three white haired gentlemen getting off the bus with narrowed eyes.
"I quit those assholes, remember? I don't owe 'em the fuzz off my peaches." Hazel replied just as Elsie tapped Five on the shoulder, coming around the bench to stand on his left and nodding towards the oncoming men.
"Well then, who the hell are those guys?" Five asked, standing up beside Elsie.
"Shit." Hazel muttered, throwing his gathered information into Fives pocket, "Run!"
Elsie gasped as Five was suddenly pushed into her, the two disappearing in a flash of blue. She grunted as she hit the floor behind a blue car, pushing herself up onto her knees as she looked at Five.
"How many times did I say "bulletproof briefcases"?" Five asked her showing her the bullet holes in the case. She felt a smile creep on her face despite the situation.
"Too many times." She replied, before placing her hands on Fives shoulder and pushing up on him to peak over the side of the car they'd landed behind.
Her smile dropped at the sight of Hazels dead body, her now narrowed eyes landing on the somewhat familiar white haired men who were now stalking towards them with guns drawn. She ducked just as bullets started flying, Five grabbing her hand and spatial jumping them to the roof of the building right beside them. She let out a small huff of air as she landed on her back, turning her head to check Five over but not sitting up as she listened to footsteps just below them. Five sent her a small smirk as he let out a breath, letting her know he was ok. She held a finger to her lips as they listened to the gunmen moving around below them, staying quiet until they heard them start to walk away.
After a couple of moments of silence below them, Five twisted onto his stomach and pushed himself up to his feet though he remained kneeling low to the ground. Elsie copied him, grabbing his hand as he spatial jumped the two of them a partway down the road, the opposite way that they'd heard footsteps head. Elsie twisted her head around, keeping a hold of Fives hand and pulling him back a few meters to the alleyway that she had landed in. Hearing police sirens, Five took over the pulling glancing over his shoulders as he got the two of them out of street view.
Elsie let Five pull her as she stared behind them, watching police car after police car go past. She was about to say something when suddenly she was inside a building on a staircase. Elsie turned to look at Five who dropped her hand and took the lead going up the stairs. Rolling her eyes, she followed behind, keeping a few steps back just in case.
She watched from the top of the stairs as Five lifted his fist to knock on an apartment door and tilted her head, suddenly realising this was the building she'd seen the curtain move in on the 1st of November when she'd arrived.
"What do you want?" A man asked as he pulled open the door. Five glanced at Elsie who shrugged, not having had a chance to come up with a story yet.
"Hi, I'm selling encyclopaedias for my youth group. I was curious if..." Five started to lie before the door was closed on his face. Five glanced at Elsie and rolled his eyes, holding his hand out to her. She took a step forward and grabbed his hand, the two appearing inside the apartment causing the man to jump and start shaking with fear. Elsie and Five watched with mild amusement as he shakily searched for a weapon, pulling out what looked like the worlds smallest knife.
"H… How'd you do that?" The apparent thing owner eventually managed to get out, pointing the knife threateningly. Elsie and Five shared a smirk.
"Don't really have time to explain." Five responded, taking a step in front of Elsie.
"You from the Pentagon? Huh?" The man continued to interrogate, shaking the knife at them. Elsie snorted.
"Definitely not." She replied.
"CIA? FBI? KGB?" He continued to rattle off, his knife now more pointed towards Elsie. Five eyed the man before spotting coffee on the table.
"Is that fresh?" Five asked before blinking across to the kitchen table. Elsie rolled her eyes as the knife weirding man let out a scream and fell back a few steps, waving the knife between her and Five.
"Want a cup?" Five offered, looking at Elsie who was still staring at the other man in the room. She cast him a glance and a smile.
"Please, dear." Five nodded, pouring her a mug and smiling over at the stranger somewhat dangerously as Elsie suddenly walked past the two of them, into the a huge open room.
"Hmm. This Colombian?" Five asked as he took a sip, coming over to Elsie to hand her a mug. Elsie absently murmured a thanks as she took the mug, not looking over from the news article taped to a wall that she'd started to read. Five turned back to look at the guy who had yet to drop the knife.
"It's my own blend." He responded.
"You ever heard of, uh, Area 51? Roswell?" Elsie suddenly asked, turning her head as her eyes started glowing. Five eyed her in confusion, before seeing the headlines and articles of all the newspapers that had been taped up and smiling with amusement.
"Hot damn! Whoo!" The man suddenly shouted excitedly, seeing the pair of them as the evidence he'd been waiting for, "See, I always knew we weren't the only ones. See, Eleanor thought my head wasn't screwed on tight, but... but it's all true, yeah? UFOs, crop circles..." he rambled getting closer to Elsie.
"Well, the truth is out there." Five interjected, taking the man's attention off Elsie and on to him with an amused smirk. Elsie smiled at Five in thanks and blinked a few times to stop the glowing.
"No, no, no, no, no. The... The truth, it's... right here in front of us. Tell me, wh... why is it always an anal probe?" The hysterical man asked, making Elsie snort but cover it by taking another sip of the coffee Five had poured her.
"Any closer, and I'll melt your brain." Five threatened, as Elsie chuckled and pulled the cup away from her mouth.
"He needs a little space." She offered the nervous man, moving her free hand in a shooing motions. He looked at her nodding frantically.
"He needs a little space. Yes. I'll be over here." He muttered taking a few steps back from Five but being sure not to move much closer to Elsie.
"All those contraptions on the roof, you built those, right?" Five asked making Elsie frown in confusion, she hadn't looked at the roof.
"Oh, yeah, yeah, sure did. Yeah, I've been tracking anomalies in... in the atmosphere. Just waiting." The man admitted, Elsie sharing a confused look with Five as she moved over to his side. She glanced down at the sketches Five had been looking over on a desk.
"Waiting for what?" Five questioned, turning slightly to face the the nervous man.
"For you." The man revealed, making Elsie and Five eye him suspiciously, "For all of you. It all started in 1960, the year the Silvertone Omega was released. I was in the middle of a sale when something very... strange happened. So, for the past three years, I've witnessed five energy surges in that alleyway out back. Same thing every time. A bright blue light, then something appears."
Five glanced over at Elsie who was nodding her head, turning to stare at the photographs that had been taken of the alley.
"Did you get a good look at any of them?" Five asked the guy as he noticed a curled up figure in one.
"Yeah, the first one. And then the big, sensitive one." He recalled.
""Sensitive"?" Five frowned glancing at Elsie who was frowning at her photo.
"Yeah, cried a lot, kept coming back to the alley, sat around for hours calling a woman's name. Uh... Allison."
"Oh Luther." Elsie breathed, picking out his figure in the photos.
"Yeah, he... he wasn't the only one. Uh, the others came too, off and on over the years, looking for each other. Eventually, they... they stopped." The nervous man revealed before pausing, "Except for one, she appeared two weeks ago then disappeared again in another blue flash."
Five glanced at Elsie who nodded her head, pointing at her curled up figure in a photo, confirming the guys story.
"So, my family is alive." Five murmured to himself, "Shit. I think I stranded them here." Elsie reached over and grabbed Fives hand, offering a squeeze of comfort. Five sent her a small smile before dropping her hand and turning.
"Now listen to me..." Five demanded, striding towards the man as Elsie watched from her space with mild amusement. The man backed off, claiming over the couch as Five got closer.
"Elliott. Elliott." They guy, Elliott, muttered as Five suddenly jumped landing directly in front of him, "My name... My name's Elliott."
"Whatever, all right? We got ten days to find them and save the world." Five explained, gesturing back to Elsie, "Now, we need your help to do that."
"You need... my..." Elliot muttered gesturing to himself while opening and closing his mouth as Elsie came to stand beside Five. Elliot managed to get a hold of himself, fumbling around his desk drawers for a moment.
"You know what? I, uh... I always thought that this, uh, mugshot looked like arrival number four." He offered, pulling out a newspaper clipping. Elsie looked over Fives shoulder as he pulled the paper over.
"Diego." Five breathed, scanning the story.
"So then, that's helpful?" Elliot questioned nervously, making Elsie look up at him.
"You have no idea." She offered before Five suddenly grabbed her hand and spatial jumped the two.
Elsie glanced over at Five unamused, holding up her coffee cup.
"Couldn't have let me set down the mug?" She muttered rolling her eyes. Five glanced over at her.
"No time." He shrugged, taking the mug from her and throwing it further down the alley they'd landed in, smashing it. Elsie glared.
"I wasn't done." Five sighed.
"I'll get you another later." He offered making her roll her eyes again.
As Five began pacing she glanced around where they'd landed, noting they were down some alley near some sort of medical facility if the garbage was anything to go by. She tilted her head and turned to face Five who was still pacing. He took the paper out and silently handed it to her. Elsie glanced at him before taking a chance to read the article, sighing to herself.
"You don't think…?" She trailed off, seeing the address listed in the paper. Five stopped pacing and stared at her.
"I do." Elsie rubbed her face with her free hand, nearly groaning.
"What is it with your family." She muttered with a slight smile on her face as she finished the article. Five chuckled dryly, coming over to gently take the newspaper from her.
"Our family." He reminded her with a smirk. Elsie let out a small laugh that faded into a smile.
"I suppose so, I guess let's go talk to our disturbed man." Elsie offered, pushing herself off the wall and taking Five's offered hand.
The two of them walked down the alley, heading in through the main entrance of the building. She released Five's hand as they entered, choosing to keep a couple steps behind as Five headed straight to the front desk to ask about his brother. Elsie stood back and eyed the patients she could see, trying to see if she could spot Diego. It wasn't much longer before an orderly came over, Five taking a step towards her and grabbing her hand as the man said he'd show them to the visitors room.
The two were led to a large empty room, with only one desk. The wall to the corridor was full of windows, allowing orderly's to look in. Elsie bit her lip as she took a seat, glancing at Five as he did the same. She squeezed Fives hand and sent him a warning look to try and play nice, even as her gut told her this wouldn't go well. Five nodded once but didn't make comment. It wasn't much longer before a familiar face was guided into the room.
"Five. Blond-y." Diego greeted, Elsie raising her free hand in a light wave of greeting as she eyed the two orderlies behind Diego.
"Hey, Diego. You look good in white." Five offered, squeezing Elsie's hand in warning.
"About time you two showed up." Diego pulling Elsie's attention.
"How'd you know I'd be back?" Five asked as he realised Elsie's hand and placed them on the table, saying nothing about Elsie since it had been him that had got his family stuck.
"Because that's the kind of shit you pull." Diego bit out with frustration. Elsie let out a breath.
"Where are the others?" Five asked, trying to not to rile up his brother too much.
"They're not with you?" Diego questioned, a hint of concern.
"We'll find them." Elsie promised the two of them, making Diego glare lightly at her.
"How long have you been here?" Five asked, directing the attention back at him.
"Seventy-five days. Landed in the alley behind Commerce and Knox." Diego admitted, Five and Elsie both saying Commerce and Knox at the same time as Diego.
"You?" Diego asked, eyeing the two.
"Two weeks ago." Elsie shrugged, not bothering to get into the story about Hazel finding her, having a feeling it would make Diego worse if he knew what would potentially be coming if they didn't stop it.
"I got here this morning." Five admitted. Diego looked between the two of them.
"How'd you find me?" Five shared a look with Elsie at the question before pulling out the newspaper article the two had read.
"Page 16. "Disturbed man with multiple knives
arrested outside 1026 N. Beckley." That's Lee Harvey Oswald's house. Care to explain?" Five replied leaning forward to eye Diego, not happy in the slightest with Diego's antics.
"Let's just say Dallas Law Enforcement has not been supportive of my attempt to stop the assassination of ...John F. Kennedy." Diego trailed off with a knowing look. Elsie let out a breath leaning over the table so she was in line with Five.
"Because it hasn't happened yet." She whispered, narrowing her eyes as Diego glared at her.
"With your ability you could stop so much misery." He hissed making Elsie sit straight back, her eyes wide and mouth open in shock, looking very much like she'd just been slapped. Diego scoffed before he turned to Five, "And it's not going to happen. Not on my watch. Look, I've been shaving down the bars in my room. Another day or two, and I'll be out of this place, then I'm gonna stop Oswald and save the president. You want in, say the word."
"Listen to me very closely, you gibbering moron. You are not going to do a goddamn thing." Five hissed back, his promise to play nice now out the window as he glared openly at Diego, feeling very unhappy with his brothers idiocy and tone towards Elsie.
"Why not?" Diego questioned, eyeing him.
"Because we have to stop the apocalypse." Five whispered back.
"No shit. But that doesn't happen for another 60 years." Diego reminded them. Five glanced back at Elsie who had managed to school her features. She let out a breath but nodded her agreement to tell Diego the truth.
"Not that apocalypse. This is a new one. It followed us. We've seen it. Nuclear war, Diego, in ten days." Five explained to Diego, who instantly started laughing hysterically. Elsie shared a concerned look with Five.
"And I'm the one they locked up, huh?" Diego laughed, making Five roll his eyes and lean back, "Fine, I'll play along. What causes it?"
"I don't know. Maybe some looney-tuned asshole with a hero complex tried to save the president and screwed everything up." Five snapped, his patience with Diego wearing very thin.
"So you're saying it worked?" Diego muttered, making Five and Elsie scoff in disbelief at that was what he picked up on, "I saved the president? I knew I could do it. Okay, okay, I'll help you."
"Thank God." Five muttered, thinking Diego had seen sense, when Diego opened his mouth again.
"After I save Kennedy. And then you swing us back a few decades so I can slit Hitler's throat off with a butter knife." Elsie stared at Diego dumbfounded.
"This is why you don't have any friends." Five muttered, also shocked with how idiotic Diego was being.
"You know what? Guard. My brother is plotting an escape. The bars of his room have been shaved down." Five alerted, glancing at the two orderlies as he stood up from the desk.
"Piece of shit!" Diego yelled, jumping across the table to grab at Elsie's arm, knowing Five wouldn't react well to that. Elsie however rolled her eyes, moving back just before he could get her, "No! Here... All right, asshole." He yelled just as the orderlies pinned him down to the table.
"Look, this is for your own good, Diego." Five explained, offering Elsie his hand to help her up. She sent Five a small smile as she took his hand, Diego shouting out for Five to stop.
"Listen, my brother is a very sick man. I only pray that he gets the help he so desperately needs." Five offered to the orderlies, gesturing to his brother. Elsie but her lip as a nurse came in with a syringe wondering if they'd perhaps gone too far as Diego started shouting again. Five looked at the orderlies before leaning down to his brothers ear.
"Be back for you later, okay? Just... Well, nighty night." He whispered, squeezing Elsie's hand.
The two watched as the orderlies carried Diego out the visitors room, saying nothing to the nurse as she led them back to the front desk. Elsie threw the nurse a thank you over her shoulder as Five continued to pull her towards the front door, the nurse stopping at the front desk. The nurse nodded with a smile, promising that they'd do all they could for Diego. Elsie let out a sigh of relief as soon as they were out on the street, only to eye Five with concern, frustration practically rolling off him in waves. She gently took over the leading, pulling them back into the alley he'd spatial jumped them too.
Five eventually let out a noise of frustration, dropping Elsie's hand and restarting his pacing. Elsie eyed him, taking a few steps back to lean against the building to watch, a small yawn escaping her. Five glanced over at her, noticing a slight glow to her eyes.
"You're tired." He observed.
"And you're frustrated." She threw right back, rolling her eyes, "shall we continue stating the obvious?" She asked.
Five rolled his eyes at her attitude and turned back around to resume pace when he paused. He twisted back around, his eyes landing on an old ripped poster right beside Elsie's head and took a few steps towards it. Elsie frowned at his face, twisting herself to see what she'd stopped beside.
"Ok, either I'm more psychic than I thought or that's one hell of a coincidence." Elsie breathed out, pushing up the corner of the poster to see Luther half naked with his hands wrapped in tape, standing in a boxing pose with a date and address below him. She looked over at Five who was staring intently at the poster.
Without saying anything else, Elsie grabbed Fives hand. Five instantly jumped them across town to the address on the poster. The two of them shared a glance, Elsie dropping Fives hand before walking up to the windows frowning as there appeared to be no one there. Five kept an eye on her, sticking his hands in his pockets as he looked around for anyone they could speak to. He saw Elsie stiffen slightly and was about to ask her about it when she shouted for him to duck. Trusting her, Five threw himself to the ground, Elsie spinning around and throwing herself at the man who'd just tried to grab at Five. The man grunted at the contact, falling back slightly as Elsie shook herself off and jumped off him, a threatening glare on her face. Five stood back up as the man did, a dangerous look in his eyes as he eyed the three other men that had joined them.
"We're looking for Luther. You don't happen to know where he is do you?" Five asked, his voice sounding a lot calmer than his eyes looked. The man scoffed.
"Look kid, my boss don't like nobody snooping his places, take your girl and go. I won't be so nice if I have to repeat myself." The man threatened, not answering the question. Elsie looked over at Five with a smirk.
"I don't think he heard you." Five smirked back at her.
"Shame. I won't be asking so nicely this time." Five replied, blinking away and landing on the guys back and choking him.
Elsie turned to the three, watching as they all shared a smirk. She felt herself chuckle, taking a few steps back to the windows she'd just been looking through. The men slowly followed after her.
"Now little lady, just take it easy and we'll be gentle." One of them jeered making Elsie's eyes narrow.
"I think I should be the one saying that to you." She countered, throwing her elbow back into the glass and smashing it. She watched as they shared a confused glance, smirking as she wrapped her fingers around the biggest shard she could, ignoring the cuts she could feel on her hand. The three eyed her for a second seeing her cut hand, Elsie staring right back.
"Three… two… one." She counted, jumping at the left man with her make do knife as Five appeared directly behind the man on the right and kicked his knee, dislocating it. Elsie plunged the glass in the man's eye, the man in the middle twisting at the shout of his friends only to be punched by Elsie and Five who had jumped beside her. The two of them shared a smile before moving to stand over the man Elsie had stabbed.
"Now, where would we find Luther?" Elsie questioned, kneeling beside the man who was still letting out grunts of pain. Five knelt on the other side, hand hovering dangerously close to the glass in his eye making the man scream.
"Ok, ok, the boss owns a club. It's two blocks from here." Elsie smirked at the man.
"That wasn't so hard, was it?" She replied cheekily, standing up and glancing over at the other three men, giving Five an impressed look when she saw the first man completely unconscious. She opened her mouth to comment when she hissed, Five having picked up her cut hand to check her injuries.
"What's with you and injuries?" He teased, eyeing the cuts. Elsie rolled her eyes.
"Says you, Mr I-got-shot-and-I'm-not-telling." Five nodded his head at that, amused smirk on his face.
"Yeah yeah." He muttered, surveying the cuts weren't too bad just bloody before looking up at her face, "let's go speak to Luther."
Elsie give him a quick peck on the cheek before handing him her uninjured hand, Five blinking them two blocks away to where a very lit up and noisy building could be seen. Elsie tensed slightly and bit her lip nervously as they got closer. Five looked at her and rolled his eyes with a smile on his face, leaning over to kiss her cheek. He found it mildly amusing that she could kill someone without any thought and watch him do the same but the thought of a club put her off.
The two walked straight up to the door, Five blinking them past the guards as they got closer. Once they were in, Elsie did her best to keep her eyes on Five or the floor making Five chuckle. He led her through the building to where the music was the loudest, heading directly to the bar. He spotted Luther across the way, but was stopped by Elsie who tugged his hand, he glanced back at her in confusion.
"He'll come to you." She shrugged, eyes glowing lightly. Five nodded his head, continuing to the bar as Elsie followed closely behind him.
"A whiskey and a margarita." Five ordered without thinking, his eyes absently trailing to Luther before he looked around again, frowning at a few men staring his and Elsie's way.
"I'm sorry kid, we don't allow minors." The barmaid responded, Five looked over and smirked.
"What time are you getting off?" Five chanced, earning a punch in the back from Elsie making him grunt. He glanced over his shoulders with a teasing look making her roll her eyes and release his hand. She walked purposely to a empty table just beside the stage, glaring off a guy that moved to sit down. Five watched her go, eventually following after grabbing the drinks the barmaid had made them, not questioning them anymore on the topic. He eyed her choice of seat and sent her a questioning glance to which she raised an eyebrow, daring him to say anything or to try and look where he knew he shouldn't be if he wanted to see tomorrow.
Five took a sip of his whiskey as he placed Elsie's margarita down, watching with concern as she picked up a napkin from the table and started cleaning her wounds. Feeling Fives stare, Elsie looked up again and sent him a questioning look before looking back down at her hand. Five frowned again as he caught her eyes glowing for a moment and let out a breath, realising how tired she actually was, and pushing her by jokingly flirting with someone after a fight might have been a step too far. He was about to say something to her when he felt a presence behind him.
"She's too young for you." Luther muttered leaning down to speak directly into Five's ear. Five smirked a bit, glancing at the women on the stage before looking back at Elsie.
"Nice to see you too, Luther." Five greeted as Elsie glanced over.
"Hi Luther." She offered throwing the bloody napkin on the table, her hand appearing to have stopped bleeding for now.
"What do you want?" Luther asked, eyeing the two suspiciously.
"For you to stop hovering like an ambitious stripper and sit down with us." Five muttered with a roll of the eyes, gesturing to the chair on his right, he waited for Luther to sit down before he continued, "How long have you been here?"
"A year, thanks to you." Luther replied, looking very unhappy with the two teens beside him.
"I'm sorry, Luther. I know that couldn't have been easy." Five offered.
"I thought everybody was dead." Luther hissed at the two before glancing over their heads at some shouting behind them and getting up, "I gotta go."
"Luther, wait." Five insisted, grabbing his arm, "Look, I get it, okay? I know what it's like to be stuck in time... Thinking this is how you're gonna live out the rest of your life. On the run, and not knowing if you're ever gonna see the people you love again, and to be in an unfamiliar world. But Luther, you're not alone. We have to find the others because the world ends again in ten days. We have no idea how to stop it."
Five and Luther shared a long look, Luther suddenly looking at Elsie who had been weirdly quiet through the whole conversation. She stared back, not saying anything even as she saw a lot of anger being thrown in her direction. Luther turned his gaze back to Five.
"I don't give a shit."
