Carlo's eyes widened as his friends appeared inside their prison. His eyes immediately leapt to Evie, and his heart sunk when he saw her splayed on the smoke-covered floor. He saw Mal next, who was is as good a condition as Evie, before finally noting Uma and the boys.

"Mal!" Ben shouted, sprinting frantically to his fiancé. He pulled her into his lap and scanned her face for any injuries, only relaxing when her found her mark-free.

Carlos ran to Evie, kneeling beside her while Gil and Jane checked on Uma. He gentle pushed her hair aside, his eyes stinging at her vulnerability. He felt the Prescence of two others and noticed Jay and Harry crouching beside them, their gazes fixated on Evie. Carlos was about to speak when he noticed the overwhelming worry and sadness in their eyes. It was like a sucker punch, shocking him to the core. He gently pulled her head into his lap, ignoring the way the other two boy's hands clenched as his actions.

"What happened?" Carlos asked, glancing up from Evie and meeting Jay's eyes.

Jay picked up on the hidden meaning in his friends' words, but subtly shook his head. "Aubrey happened. She baited us to meet her in the library and used her magic to suck us into Maleficent's sceptre."

"What's wrong with Mal—I mean the girls?" Ben quickly backtracked; his knuckles white as he held Mal to him.

"The same thing happened to Celia and me when we first arrived. Our magic is activated and is being sucked into the sceptre to help fuel it," Jane explained, frowning.

"lass' 'ow long did ye stay like 'hat?" harry asked, his accent thick.

"Um, Carlos?" she asked, looking to her boyfriend for help.

He frowned and everyone could practically see his mind whirling. "A few hours, Celia longer. I think it depends on the raw power of the individual, but I could be wrong." He said, quickly backtracking when Jane glowered at his insinuation.

"I guess we wait," Ben sighed, stroking Mal's hair.

Carlos sighed and glanced back at Evie. His mind was whirling with possibilities of what made her upset, but he knew he had to wait. He could feel Jay and Hook's gaze staring at his hands as they combed through Evie's hair. What had changed between the three? He wondered. Realising that he would have to wait to ask, likely until after this mess was over with, he met Jay's eyes.

"Do you mind sitting with her? I want to check on Mal as well."

Jay's eyes lit up and he nodded so sombrely you'd think Carlos was entrusting him with a precious jewel. Filing that reaction away for later, He gently scooped Evie up and passed her over to Jay. The half jinn immediately cradled her close to him, his gaze softening like butter in sunlight. It was an apt description, as Evie was like sunlight.

Carlos scooted back in the mist and tried not to appear like he was watching as he slowly stood up. Hook immediately slid closer to Evie when Jay passed her over. Jay placed her between his legs and lent her against his back and Harry placed her legs in his lap and gently rubbed her legs. Carlos watched his hands, making sure they didn't go to high, but for once the pirate was being a gentleman. Carlos nodded and made his way over to Mal and Ben.

"Is she doing, okay?"

Ben immediately looked up at his question. Fear bled from his gaze and Carlos's heart fractured at his friend's concern. "She's okay, or well, she will be. I can't say the same for Aubrey and anyone who helps her, though."

Carlos nodded, completely understanding. "Okay well, if she stirs at all, please call me over. I'm going to make sure Jane and Celia are doing alright."

Ben nodded; his gaze refixed on Mal. Faint irritation flashed through Carlos, but it quickly dissipated. He was the same when it was Jane, so he couldn't blame him. Carlos stood back up and strode over to jane who looked like she was trying to fold in on herself in the corner.

"Jane?" he called as he drew nearer. "Are you okay?"

Her gaze flickered back to Carlos. Meeting hid gaze, her resolve crumbled along with her composure. She fell into his waiting arms, and he wrapped them around her, trying to keep her from falling apart. Evie was the fixer, not him, and he wouldn't know where to start.

"it's all just so horrible. How could Aubrey do this?' she whispered.

Carlos hugged her closer and tucked her head under his chin. A part of him wanted to mention how she had some something similar at the coronation with the wand, but wisely kept quiet. "I don't know babe, but it'll be okay. We just have to stay strong."

Her sobs slowed and she was able to lift her teary gaze to lock eyes with him. "How do you know that? What if we can't? wait if this is the end of everything and we all—"

"For Voodoo's sake, shut up, would you?"

All awake members turned to Celia who sat on the floor, rolling her eyes. "Worrying like that solves nothing. We need to work out a plan and be logical. If all else fails, we will need to have faith that our friends on the other side will get us out."

"That is easy for you to say! Your mother isn't—" Jane silenced when she thought about what she was going to say.

Carlos's arms dropped and he took a step back from his girlfriend. Celia let out a mirthless laugh and stood up, stalking forward till she was in Jane's space. "Our parent's aren't what? Trapped? What do you think the isle is? A holiday park?"

Jane gnawed on her lower lip and fiddled with the necklace Carlos gave her. Her mind was a tangled weed of thoughts, each bunching together more as she tried to untangle them. "It's just that my mother is innocent—"

Jay looked up at her declaration. He gently passed Evie over to Harry, who held her in his lap like she was a precious flower. Ben watched on the side-lines but was too drained to intervene until he was absolutely needed. Gil was cradling Uma, barely paying attention to the mess that was going on.

"Innocent? Can you—"

"I got this, Celia." Jay interrupted; his tone as hard as stone.

Celia turned to him with an indignant expression but melted under his glare. "Fine," she muttered, before turning and making her way over to Mal.

Carlos shot Jay a warning look, but otherwise stayed silent. Jay stalked forward, looking every much like the villain his father was. Jane tried top hold her head high, but she couldn't hide the shaking of her arms.

"Your mother id far from innocent. She created the barrier that kept us trapped, a barrier that allowed our parents to torture us."

"They didn't—"

"Didn't what? Torture us? Your parents didn't know that we'd be treated that way? For fuck sake, stop talking shit. They were the 'worst of the worst' as you all called them," Jay said, doing air quotes around their parent's title. "How did they think we'd be treated? With hugs and kisses?" jay said, snorting at the very idea.

"You can't speak to me like this," jane said, her voice wavering. She turned to Carlos with an expectant expression. "Are you going to let him speak to me like this?'

Carlos rubbed his temples and look at Jane. "You did just say that your mother was completely innocent, which is a sore spot for us."

She narrowed her eyes. "You are supposed to be on my side."

Carlos rubbed the bridge of his nose. He turned to look at Ben, a pleading expression on his face. Ben sighed and shrugged off his jacket and bunched it up to put on the floor. He placed Mal's head on it, before reluctantly stepping up and away from Mal.

Reaching the group of three he groaned. "Look, today has been stressful and the last thing we need to do is rehash the past. I agree that it was Auradon's fault for leaving you all there, but the treatment you endured? That was your parent's fault. Once we get out of here, we can talk about it more, but right now all I want to do is hug my fiancé and make sure she is okay. Can you all behave until then?"

The three nodded, though none of them looked very pleased with the outcome. Ben nodded and made his way back to Mal, hoping the group could stay together long enough to get out of here.

Aubrey let out and almost manic giggle as she twirled around the Beast's castle. With everyone out of commission, she thought she may as well move in. The entire placer dripped with finery, and she basked in it, finally feeling like she was getting what she deserved.

"Can you believe it, Maleficent? We beat Mal!"

Maleficent huffed and scuttled across the table. "You foolish girl. This is only phase one."

Aubrey rolled her eyes, making sure that the women who tried to kill her mother didn't see. "Well then, how are we going to bring down the Veil and how can I be sure you will keep your word?"

Maleficent sighed, already infuriated with the brat of her nemesis. "Because having the kingdoms divided suits me better. Now, put the artefacts down."

Audrey did as she was told and laid the groups treasures on the table. She stepped back keeping a tight grip on the sceptre. Maleficent scuttled over the objects, muttering to herself. She hissed as Ravena's book burned her foot, and quuickly7 jumped off.

"What was that?"

"That was Ravena's, the Evil Queen's, book. Only her and her brat can open it."

"So why did we wait for her to get it out of the museum if it's so useless?"

"You foolish brat. We use it as a bargaining chip to bring that vapid queen under my thrall. She id powerful, one of the most powerful, along with myself, so I do not want to contend with her. If she decides to strike out on her own."

"Okay, and how do we get the Fairy Godmother to bring down the veil?"

"You leave that to me. First I need to get my body back."

"How will you do that? Didn't you shrink to the size of the love in your heart?"

"Yes, yes. But if your mothers' fairies could change my superior spell, I can too."

"How do you plan to do that?" Aubrey asked.

"Three are two things you can wish on. A star, or a Jinn. And I just so happen to know a Jinn who would be more than happy to help."

Hey everyone! I hope you liked chapter one of the sequel to SMILE! I'm not to sure how long it'll be, but I'm planning about 12 chapters. I'll try update every week but will do every second at the most. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Also, Jane is stressed and there is another reason for their aggression that will become apparent later.
