At the Throne Room…
Belos sighed as he looked at the photo of his daughter when she was born.
Such a sweet, sweet little thing. Such a tiny little thing to be born from a man such as himself, if he can even call himself a man anymore. His little Luzura was more than enough proof that is still something of himself left in him… whoever he was before becoming Belos. His daughter reminds her so much of her brother as she grew up. Despite wanting his little princess to learn about the second world she was born into; his ex-wife was heavily against it. In fact, the only time he can see her would be the visitation time on Earth.
"You okay, Uncle? You seem down." A boy with a golden Ogygoptynx mask asked in a gentle tone.
"Oh, I'm fine, William. I simply miss your cousin." He admitted to his nephew as a younger boy with a golden Burrowing owl mask perked up.
"Luz? Doesn't she live at that place where the rain never boils? How come you can't see her right now?" He asked as the middle boy, the Golden Guard nudged him.
"Hey, don't ask questions like that, Spade. It's insensitive!" He scolded, causing the younger boy to shove him back.
This leads to a fight between the two as the emperor sighed and waved his hand.
"On it." Something tweeted as a woman with white feathery hair in a gold, blue, and white Victorian dress with ribbons and a matching bonnet, and a bell wand appeared.
In a blink of an eye, she separated the boys with her wand.
"Hunter, Spade, enough of this! This is unbecoming of members of the royal family. Especially, when your uncle is not feeling all that well." She scolded the boys in an emotionless and British tone, who hung their heads.
"We're sorry, Parfait." The boy bowed.
"Do not apologize to me. Have one for the emperor. After all, it was your dispute that brought more woe to his day."
"It is fine, Blue. My own sorrows are elsewhere. You three are dismissed for the day. I wish to be alone." Emperor Belos interrupted as the three boys bowed.
"If you need us, we'll be here." William smiled through his mask as the three left the throne room with his uncle and the strange woman alone.
"Sweet boys, very rambunctious, they do grow up fast. I still remember a time as if it were yesterday when Atticus was still living here and was the Golden Guard. Ah, well, birds have to leave the nest at some point."
"Hmm."
"Ah yes, the brooding. You have done much of that since becoming the new leader of the Isle. It is not an easy responsibility, but a responsibility nonetheless."
"I know what you are trying to do, Blue and I do not have the energy for one of your 'be happy' games." Belos sighed as he tried to change the subject, "Have the Flock reported in?"
"Indeed, their reports should reach you within the hour. Now, on the subject of your daughter… have you tried discussing it with Camila? I mean really discussing it, not you two bickering like two old biddies." She wondered as his eyes glowed a bit, "You can be angry all you wish but you know I speak the truth."
…
"You know my former wife would never allow Luzura to enter our world, no matter how many times I assure her she would be safe." He admitted.
"Many fear the unknown as you did once yourself. Give it time, maybe one of these days, she will hear you out. Yes, this world can be frightening but it is also beautiful."
"How much longer will have to wait. I fear she would keep Luz away from here by the time she is eighteen and by then, she may hide the door."
"She might, but who knows. Maybe give her the benefit of the doubt. At least you can still see her, and she knows of her family here."
"Hmm."
"Maybe some tea will make you feel better." Blue offered.
On Earth at Luz's School…
Luz hung her head as the principal and her mother were talking about her strange behavior and her fascination with magic.
She wasn't crazy and magic is real. Her father and cousins showed her so many times, they came from a world of magic. Luz always wanted to go there so badly, but her mother always forbade it, even locking the door. One day, she hopes to see that world and learn magic and be a witch like her cousins and father.
"Come on, Mija, it's time to go." Her mother told her as she walked out of the office, "We have a lot to talk about when we get back home."
"Okay, Mom," Luz answered as she followed her mother back to the car.
Camila looked at the pamphlet, thinking about her ex-husband. That man seemed to have brought Luz's unhealthy obsession with magic and not just those books she reads, which she needed to talk about, too. Don't get her wrong, he was a good man and a loving father to Luz. But that place is not her world, it's a dangerous place filled with things that Luz shouldn't be exposed to. She wasn't born with magic and even though she is a princess in that world, it's not meant for her. Earth is her home, it's where she's meant to be.
She has to forget that other place.
She has to because this world would never accept witches, both she and Belos understood that painful truth.
Camila loved Luz with all her heart and maybe if her second husband was here, he would know how to handle this situation. Luz is a child of two worlds, but which world she belongs to should be Earth. She looked at the pamphlet. The mother knew she should inform the husband and decide together, but this could help Luz, and give her the growth and balance she needs. Give her a taste of reality, this reality. Luz is struggling because of her love of magic and is hard for her to make friends.
She'll deal with the consequences later, but her daughter needs to be grounded in this world instead of dreaming of the other.
In the Lavender Fields…
Luz couldn't believe it; she couldn't believe she was going to be sent away to Reality Check Summer Camp.
But her mom was worried about her, she even thought she was a weirdo. She didn't mean to disappoint her, she just loved magic. Before going to the bus stop, she wanted to see the fields one more time. This was her favorite place in the world. She, her mother, her father, cousins, and stepfather, this was their secret place, their hideaway to enjoy the flowers, the picnic… the secret hideout! She needed to draw something before she goes!
Luz then traveled down the hill to find a crevice in the side. Inside was a cave, turned into a secret hideout with her cousins. She saw an image of herself five years old with her year older cousin, Hunter. They were drawing the faces of the entire family, her, the Flock, her parents, stepparent, cousins, everyone. Luz touched the space between the drawing as the ghosts in her memories disappears. Just one more thing to be added.
A heart.
A heart that will connect them all.
"This world, this world is about to change." An emotionless voice uttered, startling Luz.
"Wh-who's there?" Luz gasped, turning around to see a woman in a red dress but a hood covering her entire head.
"This world will enter another transition, just as it did for the previous events in history. For whenever Witchcraft emerges, this world changes."
"You know about the worlds-. Are you a witch, too?" Luz asked her, causing her to darkly chuckle.
"Foolish child, enthralled by a place you do not belong or understand. This place will be tainted unless something is done. The other place is not for you." The hooded woman warned.
"Hey, who are you to stay where I belong! One day, I'm going to learn where my family came from! See the world my dad protects!"
"The emperor is a fool, and you a foolish daughter."
Then like a formless wraith, she phased through Luz and stole her book!
"Forget magic as beauty, see it as evil and you may survive." She warned as she was walking out of the cave.
"Hey, give that back!"
Luz then chased after the woman!
At the broken-down house…
What a day, first she was going to reality camp, then a crazy witch woman steals her The Good Witch Azura book, throws it in the trash, only to have it stolen by a little owl.
She chased it to an old house with a strange door with an eye.
This door looked so familiar, and she was drawn to it. Luz opened and entered through.
In another world…
Luz has never been more enthralled and more terrified of a place.
At first, she thought she died and went to… the bad place, especially when the fairy creature tried to eat her skin. But then she remembered seeing things in her father's books, books that her father brings, trying to share the world with her if she could never go there.
This is it.
"The Boiling Isles." She uttered as she spotted the owl again.
The little thief with her book soon made its way to the marketplace, where a woman in red resided. She was riffling over some unique items, she deemed garbage until she found gag glasses.
"Yes, this will make me rich!" She proclaimed with a cheer.
When she presented the TV, Luz showed how it was really used and that is when Eda took an interest in her and when the law is on their tail.
This was the start of Luz's journey with the Owl Lady as her presence would soon be known.
Hours later in the throne room…
"And the Owl Lady escaped from your custody, Warden? You failed again to capture her?" The emperor growled in irritation.
He hasn't been annoyed since he had arrested those three troublemakers in the dungeon. The girl who accidentally caused that fire when her flammable fanfiction (reminding him of his daughter) was near an open flame, the eye eater's illegal purchase of eyeballs, though in his defense he didn't know it was illegal, then "Tiny Nose" conspiracy theory causing a minor riot and damage. After they pay their bail and do some community service, they can go home.
"F-forgive, your highness! It was that human's fault-!" He began.
"Human? What human?" He demanded as Kikimora was taking notes before she stopped.
"Err…"
The warden then showed his memory of the human, stopping at the sight of the girl.
"Oh, dear." Blue sighed as she crossed her arms.
"Luzura, my darling little Luzura in the talons of that-that owl woman…!" He snarled as his mask began to crack.
"Y-your majesty, please calm down." The little demon woman pleaded.
"Belos, for Titan's sakes, you'll break a blood vessel getting riled up. Now, it seemed that the girl is fine, she's not hurt in any way and it seemed that Clawthorne is taking care of her."
"Blueberry Parfait, Kikimora, you two go to the Owl House and locate her and my daughter. We need to have a chat. If she has not kidnapped my daughter, then I want to know how and why she is here."
"And if she did?"
"You don't even need to ask. You know that answer."
