Chapter 1: A change in Time
"What great times…"
The throne room of the 41, a place which no enemy ever entered, made of incalculable metals, was being visited by the Ruler of the Tomb itself. Momonga, Guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown. A majestic skeleton with divine robes, sucking the surrounding light into them.
[16:55:21]
Momonga glanced at the time. It was far too soon to leave the game now. The last moments should be savored like sweet honey, yet he didnt even know how honey tasted like. Bees had died since decades already.
"I got some extra free time today. Worked my ass off just to get some more time on Yggdrasil's last day."
In his hand was the guild weapon, his most prized possession that he made with his comrades. It was almost as strong as a world item, but it could be destroyed and the whole guild would cease to exist. That meant everything his comrades invested in all these years would perish. So he never took it out of the tomb for combat. That would've been a grave mistake. Yggdrasil was no fair place. If the enemies of Nazarick knew the guild item was roaming free on the surface, they wouldn't hesitate to find it.
"I remember something important Punitto told me before he left. A location which I should visit sometime. He said it will be worth it. Now, where was that exactly?.."
The strategic mind of Ainz Ooal Gown, called Punitto Moe, knew many things and taught Momonga one or two tricks in life. Without his guidance, he would've made twice as many mistakes. The Overlord appreciated that every day.
"I know! He said something about a boss in Alfheim, some hidden boss who should drop a really rare item! But I was already too high of a level for that region and ignored it. Should check that out before the game ends. Just for the fun. And for my curiosity."
The Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown shone and Momonga was brought to the guild room where various conventions would be held. There, he placed the staff in a spot only designed for itself. The most of the time it would stay there, waiting for its master to pick it up sometime. But often it was just for roleplay.
"I will not risk getting you destroyed. Can't just risk ending our whole work with my stupidity."
The staff floated into its socket, and Momonga left as soon as it was secure. Teleporting to the top of Nazarick, he finally could teleport freely. It was a safety mechanism to not allow any teleportation inside Nazarick, which was sometimes a pain in the ass, but kept the enemies from escaping or randomly teleporting into the tomb.
"[Gate]"
A purple rift appeared, and the Overlord stepped through it. Appearing on the outskirts of Alfheim, he sensed the change in environment from the lands of Helheim quick. It was a region full of trees, giant ones. The biggest reaching even 100 meters. Birds singing and other various sounds were coming from the surrounding forest. It felt almost real.
"Now I just have to find the giant tree circle Punitto was talking about. Was it made of 4 or 5 trees? I don't remember anymore what he said exactly."
Activating his fly spell, he flew over the woods and searched for a ring of gigantic trees. Forest covered the giant landscape, not leaving any place without a shadow.
"I can't miss some massive trees, right? But how I'm not finding anyt-"
Suddenly, he felt a wall of sorts as he bumped right into it. But as he looked at what hit him, there was nothing he could see that would hinder him from flying forward.
"What is this? An illusion or a barrier? Maybe I can dispel it."
"[Dispel Illusion]"
After the cast, the invincible surface turned into color and showed a tree before Momonga, one much larger than any other tree in the region. Behind him, more appeared and all of them formed a circle, the exact location Punitto Moe described. A small part of the forest swiftly disappeared. It was precisely that part inside the circle of these trees.
"This must be it! What luck to fly right into it. How did nobody ever notice this?"
In the middle was a plain region, which looked like the hidden boss arena to him, but there was no boss around. It was silent, no player near to kill the boss or any other mob around.
"So he's not here, but that's the correct location, right? Don't tell me I wasted precious time searching for nothing! Huh, I guess I'll summon some monsters to protect me while I look up this place."
Six Death Knights popped up, but Momonga didn't feel safe yet. "That's not enough. I need more summons to protect me while I'm down there." Blue magical circles formed around him, with various magical runes that made no sense to an ordinary person. After a while, the magical circle expanded and, from the light, six Cherubim Gatekeepers emerged, ready to protect their new master.
"Good. This should suffice. Now, what do we have here?"
He floated towards the center of the plateau, and by getting closer, he spotted a strange structure, a minor one which was almost not noticeable from the skies. It was a big rock, yet it had a huge hole through it. Coming closely, Momonga would describe it more as an obelisk.
"I guess this is where you would put an item to summon the boss? But what item is it? Think! What did Punitto Moe tell me!?"
He searched his inventory for any clues that would bring back his memory. And at one item, he remembered something. A thing every player should know when spawning a boss.
"Wait! Maybe I can use a [Boss Stone] to summon it! If this isn't an event boss or quest boss, that is. And I still got some left."
In his hand, a red stone appeared. It lit red, but that was all. Momonga slowly came closer to the monolith and put the stone in the gap. And he guessed right. The stone floated in there and a countdown appeared of 30 seconds.
"Only 30 seconds! 5 minutes is the least you get on a boss!"
He summoned 10 additional Death Knights to protect him and decided to use the other four as bait. It was probably too much, but he knew little about the boss, only that it's about level 80-90 and resistant to most natural elements. He thought it was probably a sort of stone golem, but he wasn't sure. After all, Punitto Moe loved to tell him in riddles.
"10 seconds left. Now I have time to buff myself a bit more."
Every second, his body emitted a different light. And in this time alone, he cast about 14 buffs on him, excluding his summons.
3, 2, 1…
Out of the ground, a massive hand arose and pulled itself out of the dirt. It had a rocky surface. It couldn't be an organic entity then, or it used rocks as armor. But the first would be more believable. "That's it! Death Knights, go around it!"
He commanded them via his thoughts, which was a neat feature included in Yggdrasil. Momonga selected his spells carefully and had some prepared to use in a combo attack. It was difficult to manage all 700 and more spells he had, so he focused on only his most favorite ones. These selected spells were not only his favorites but also had the most powerful effects of all.
Then, after a while, the giant rose from the ground and stood before the Overlord, yet attacking not him but the Death Knights first. It was a gigantic being made of stone. One could hear the rubbing of rocks when the being moved his limbs. Not a pleasant sound to hear, really. Most of it was enveloped in green flora of unknown plants. This would show it was resting a long time inside the ground, that even small trees and other flowers grew upon his back.
"[Hold of Ribs] [Thousand Bone Lance] [Meteor Fall] [Napalm]"
The giant golem was stunned by bones piercing from the ground into his upper layer of skin, and shortly after, thousands of bones doing the same from all directions. The golem tried to move, but was soon struck by the huge meteor, and explosions of the latter spell only expanded the destruction. The attack was perfect. The golem couldn't even defend itself from any blows Momonga dealt him.
"Good. Now I should conti-"
Out of the flames, a giant hand came out and knocked four Death Knights back at once. They probably had low hp now, or even only 1, as their ability let them survive with only one health left. That is why Momonga loved these summons. Even if the enemy technically killed them, they essentially revived with one health left to defend their master.
"[Maximise Magic: Reality Slash] [Maximise Magic: Reality Slash]"
The attacks hit the golem, and deep cuts appeared on his surface. There, in the middle of his torso, something glowed yellow. A sort of sphere, made from metal and holding an unknown item inside it. But soon after the attack, other pieces of rock hovered from the ground to the chest and repaired the made damage in seconds.
"Could that be his core? Wait." Momonga used [Life Essence] on the boss, only to find out it didn't even move a fifth. "What? But I can see him being damaged a little. Does he have an item hindering me from seeing his hp? That can't be, he's a NPC. Then, the only way is to lower his hp slowly or to destroy his core? Could be a hint."
The Death Knights only stood there with their shields high up, dealing with the blows of the giant golem that could rival Gargantua. Four of the 14 already died, but they were good at distracting the enemy. The golem didn't even land a hit on the Sorcerer yet.
"Okay, the Death Knights won't deal a lot of damage. But I need to inflict bludgeoning damage on the boss. Slashes won't do much."
Momonga looked at his side, seeing his Cherubim Gatekeepers all around him. "This could give me an idea…."
Two of the gatekeepers suddenly moved towards the golem, who now was focused only on the two angels. The two should be about the same level as him, but the difference in strength could be greater.
"[Super-Tier Spell: Sword of Damocles]"
The same circles appeared as he readied himself to cast the Super Tier Spell. It had a long cast time, but the aftereffects of the spell were always impressive to see.
"With [Sword of Damocles], I could pierce through the golem and destroy his core! I have only to count on my summons to protect me."
Rocks floated towards the wounds of the golem, repairing him with each hit he took from the two angels. The rest of the Death Knights were at his legs, attacking him, even if it didn't do any damage.
"C'mon, so close!"
The cast time was almost over, and to his luck, the golem didn't mind it at all. It had a good AI, but it did not have any consciousness to recognize what Momonga was doing.
The runes expanded, and the spell was cast. Now Momonga only had to wait as a giant sword, made of a sort of red light, flew down towards the rocky Coloss. Even then, the golem didn't notice it. It was too busy fighting the summons.
"This is over."
The colossal sword impaled the golem from above, fully encompassing him with its size and destroying him completely. After a while, the magical sword disappeared into dust, leaving behind a big crack in the ground.
A message popped up on the right side of his vision.
"Congratulation! You beat the Guardian of the Leaves!"
Never did he hear of such a boss, yet he was curious about what he had dropped.
"Items received: 2x [Leaf of Yggdrasil]"
Confused, he looked in his inventory. "Huh, what's that? It doesn't even have a lore, nothing! What does this item do?"
He took it out of the inventory and displayed it in his hand. It was like every other leaf, but golden and sparkling, brighter than any normal gold. As if it was alive.
"Well, I guess it goes into the treasury, then. I thought I would find something of interest here. But it seems the time was really wasted."
His summons dispelled, and a gate showed up in front of him. Quickly, he entered and returned to Nazarick.
HeroHero has logged in.
"What?! He came? At last, one returned! Man, I was so lonely, but I was sure one would come! Who wouldn't want to miss the end of Yggdrasil?"
He quickly went into the guild room, but nobody was there yet. "Huh, maybe he's somewhere around the tomb. Ah, he'll get here soon."
Turning around, he saw the guild's most prized possession. The Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. A tremendous powerful guild weapon, with 7 divine orbs imbued into it. Each orb could summon a Primal Elemental of their element, a level 80 creature. But as the Overlord touched the guild staff, something happened.
Would you like to combine 2x [Leaf of Yggdrasil] with Guild Weapon? Press [Yes] or [No].
A menu opened before him, letting him choose between two options. There was no information about what would happen after he chose, he could only guess.
"Hah! What!? I can combine these leaves with a guild weapon? How would any normal player know this?! Huh, what do I do? I dont want to risk the guild, but it's the last day, and it surely won't be destroyed, would it? But I am very curious about what it would do. You know what? Maybe it's a power up."
The skeletal fingers pressed on Yes, and the menu vanished. Closely after, the staff began to glow, and Momonga was seriously scared. The light blinded him for a moment.
"No! What did I do!? Fuck!"
He couldn't reverse the effect, it has already been executed. But after the light withdrew, around one of the 7 orbs on top of the Staff was a golden leaf. Encompassing around the orb.
"So it was just a decoration… Huh"
Guild Weapon has been applied an additional status of [Word Item]
…
"WHAT?!"
He screamed out of surprise. He didn't expect that, nobody would. But when the message showed up, he couldn't contain himself. This was impossible, unheard of, and did never happen in all of Yggdrasil.
"Hahaha… The devs are hilarious. I'm not gonna fall for this prank! This can't be real, no…"
Please select one ability for the [World Item]: [Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown] from the Developer Archive: D:/ Yggdrasil/ Items/ Effects/ world_items:
"...You really did a great job, Devs. C'mon, I'm not stupid! I know this is a prank!"
Archive loaded:
Please select one of the following abilities for the [World Item] [Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown]:
[Last Resort]-When holding the world item, the owner will be instantly teleported to the Throne Room of the Great Tomb of Nazarick when health drops under 10%. Any magical or physical means can not stop this effect. The owner will also gain a health regen until hp has reached 50%. The owner will also have protection against physical and magical attacks under lvl 80 when interacting with the world item [Throne of Kings]. The effect can be deactivated at will.
[Supreme Summon]-Summons of the owner will get a 25% boost to all stats and lose all racial weaknesses. The world item has to be wielded for the effect to apply.
[Racial Boost]-Owner of the world item will lose all racial weaknesses when holding the world item.
[Endless Spells]-Owner will be able to perform spells outside his classes when holding the world item. Spells must be learned while carrying the world item.
[Instant Cast]-While holding the world item owner will have no Super-Tier spell cooldown, but the spell cannot be cast the for two days.
[Real Illusion]-Adds spell [Fool the World] to Staff at the owner's cost of mana.
[False Doppel]-Allows the player to mimic other racial abilities. Can hold up to 7 other racial abilities to the player's own. If a new ability is added, the last of the five to be added will disappear. Adding an ability can be achieved by killing a race with the desired racial abilities, of which the player can choose which one to pick. The killed entities level is relevant.
[Touch of Erasure]-While holding the world item, the owner will be able to kill one entity a day by touch. The strength of the enemy is irrelevant. Doesn't apply to World Enemies.
[Racial Control]-The player can transform his racial classes into others of his own race. This allows a player to change, for example, from Overlord to Abyssal Lord or Zombie Knight. The appearance and stats will be changed. This is not an effect, but a complete change and the race is temporarily listed as such in the game files. The transformation can be discharged at the player's command, but the player cannot change back to that racial class until he changed to another.
[Temporary World Enemy]-Allows a player to temporarily be a World Enemy without getting banned instantly. Duration can be altered by the owner's mana, which fuels the transformation. But the player will receive an infinite amount of mana as a World Enemy, separate from his own mana pool. As an example, the player Momonga will last 12 minutes as a World Enemy until his own mana runs out. After the transformation ends, the player will revert back to his form and be left with no mana.
[Realm of Doom]-On activation: the owner creates a separate dimension away from the current reality and pulls his enemies with him into it. There, the owner will get certain buffs and have a general advantage over his enemies. He can also modify the dimension to his wishes. If he defeats them, he will return to reality. If they defeat the owner, they will return to reality and receive complete immunity from the owner's attacks if he is to revive.
[Thief's Wish]-Allows the player to remove an item from another player and add it to their own inventory. Only works once on each player.
[Opposite Strength]-Negates resistance of a selected enemy and makes it their weaknesses instead. Can be applied to any player or NPC 10 levels under the owner.
[Time Mastery]-Allows players with the class [Eclipse] to perform the spell [Greater Time Stop], [Reverse Time], [Delay Time], [Time Acceleration], [Time Vision] and [Accelerate Death]. Spells are to be cast at the owner's cost.
[Magical Creation]-Allows players to create any item equal to the cost of mana.
[Race Jumper]-Allows players to change their race once a day. The player will select classes. The level stays the same. Save files can be done.
[World Searcher]-Allows players to see which other entity was in the possession of a world item and locates them. World items alone cannot be located, as a world item negates another. If one is in the current possession of a world item, he will also not be located. The location will be in the form of the caster's wishes.
[Timeless Spells]-Grants the owner the ability to not use any mana over time for spells like [Control Amnesia] or [Gate]. A onetime cost of mana will be the only thing the player has to pay.
[Double Avatar]-Once a day, a player can copy himself and control the cloned body, and if the body is destroyed, the player will not die but return to his original body. It is a similar feature to the Greater Doppelgängers' ability, only that its body is separate from the player.
[Simple Sorcery]-A player can learn any spell once a day if he knows of the spell. Must be in the players' class abilities to cast.
[Game Modification]-Player can modify his own UI at his wishes.
[Neutral Invincibility] -Player in possession of the world item cannot be injured while not attacking himself. Doesn't apply in other guilds bases, boss arenas, and tournaments. After the player has gone into combat, he can only reactivate the ability after 12 hours.
[Quick Reactivation]-Skills cooldown is limited to 10% of the normal cooldown. Applies to every skill.
[Curse of the Damned]-A curse can be cast, and if the selected entity doesn't kill the world item owner in the owners selected time above 5 hours, it will be killed regardless of its strength. Resurrection will not be possible and if the target is a player, all levels will be lost. Targeted players with world items will not be affected. After the first time the curse is activated, it will take twice as long to kill the second selected target. World Enemies are not affected.
[Negative Weakness]-A player can turn his traits into the opposite trait. For example, Fire Immunity will change to Fire Vulnerability, and so on.
[Custom Summoner]-Gives the player the ability to modify his own summons. But the cost to summon custom summons will be 50% higher than the normal cost for its level. A custom summons can be made from nothing but from an existing summon.
[Beyond Limits]-The selected entity will lose the level cap of 100 and be able to gain more levels. But the cost for a level-up will rise twice as much every time. There can be only one selected entity and when changed, this entity will lose all levels and return to lvl 100. The experience from this level will not be lost, but can be used, for example, with [Wish upon a Star].

…
"WHAT?! WHAT?! How? This is a prank. No, I'm not accepting this. Hah…"
He looked away from the menu, but after a few seconds, his gaze was back on the hologram.
"Maybe I can just read it through… Won't hurt, wouldn't it?"
Carefully, he studied every entry, every word that was in the archive. And he was stunned. Every ability was at least an op or something extraordinary. Was this truly the archive of the devs?
"And it even got more pages, ahh…"
His mind was not fluctuating with him, it was already waiting for the devs to appear behind him and ban him shortly after. It must be a prank, he thought.
"I'm just going to wait. No, I'm not selecting anything here."
He waited and waited for a long time, but nobody appeared, and nothing changed.
"...You know what? I am playing their little game. I'm just gonna chose the first one to see what happens. It seems to be made for my tomb, but if it's real, I won't ever use it. I swear these devs are just standing behind me at any moment."
His hands went back on the menu, and he selected the first one on the list. It was not the best, but he wanted to see if anything happens.
You have selected the ability:
[Last Resort]-When holding the world item, the owner will be instantly teleported to the Throne Room of the Great Tomb of Nazarick when health drops under 10%. This effect cannot be stopped by any magical or physical means. The owner will also gain a health regen until hp has reached 50%. The owner will also have protection against physical and magical attacks under lvl 80 when interacting with the world item Throne of Kings. The effect can be deactivated at will.
Are you sure you want to fuse this ability with the [Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown]?
"...Yes." A quiet answer escaped his mouth.
1 of 7 abilities selected.
"Huh, I can add 6 more? Wait! Didn't Punitto tell me something about that the boss was actually never found? But the devs could've been waiting all that time to pull this prank or... It's actually a glitch."
If it was real, he was an idiot for choosing the first ability. There were so much better abilities than the first in these archives.
"Uhh, don't tell me I wasted a spot right now?! This is just too much. But what counts for me is that in the end, our guild was truly invincible."
He dispelled the menu, as he no longer needed to add an ability. For it to be a world item was enough for him. But he had to check one last thing.
He looked in his inventory to see the status changed from guild weapon to world item and guild weapon. Which meant his guild was now indestructible. In theory, of course, but he didn't know which status was overriding the other.
"How does this even work? Our guild can't even be destroyed anymore! But that's a good thing, right?!"
From the other end of the room, the door opened, and a predator slime entered the room. He sat on one of the majestic chairs.
"Momonga? You're here? What a surprise!"
It wasn't, really. But he said it out of courtesy. Everybody knew Momonga would surely be here, even at the end of the game.
"HeroHero! Long time no see! What brings you here?" Momonga was really enthusiastic about this. After all that time, someone came back, one who remembered the old days again.
"Well, you know, work. Got me exhausted every day. And you? How are you these days?"
"Same. Work just isn't helping us. And my boss even said I have to work overtime tomorrow. But hey! Look what I just found! Appraise the staff for a second."
The slime neared the tall Overlord and appraised the weapon, only to be surprised after.
"A world item?"
"What do you think? I somehow got this item that allowed me to transform the guild weapon into a world item, and it worked! Now, our guild is truly indestructible!"
He was really hyped up about this. He wished the others could see this. But it was enough that HeroHero could witness this moment.
"Huh… I guess it's cool."
Momonga turned around, shocked. "Cool! This is astronomical! How can't you be moved by this?!"
"Yggdrasil is cool and all, but at the end, it's just a game."
"Just a game". These words echoed through Momonga's mind like nothing else. How could he say that? How?
"Your right, HeroHero… So, you plan to stay until the shutdown?"
"Nah, sorry, but I have to go to sleep early. Got to be fit for tomorrow. But it was a real pleasure to meet you again."
"Yeah, it's cool that you remembered."
"Of course I would. But I really gotta go now. Let's meet in the real world once, shall we?"
"Sure, we'll meet again…"
"... Of course."
HeroHero has logged out.
"DAMMIT! How!? How can he abandon this? Our life, our guild that we build with sweat, tears, and blood!..."
The rage was short and immense. But he knew HeroHeros's perspective. "But to him it's just a game. It's normal, he wouldn't understand. I don't blame him… Well, let's take one last walk."
He left the guild room and gathered the pleiades and Sebas the Butler. He looked at each of them. He remembered the time his friends made them. He even helped a little and was always there when new NPCs were created.
"Follow me!"
They all bowed and walked behind the Guild-master. After a short while, he came before a massive gate that opened from itself. Inside was a beauty, Albedo. A Succubus with pitch black wings and white horns. He sat on his throne and commanded them once again.
"Bow down!"
All before him bowed to the Supreme Being, the last one they'll ever see.
"This is really it? The end of an era… An era that has been shining…"
His depressing voice didn't help him out that much. He looked at Albedo and thought something out.
"Mmh, let's see…" He pointed his staff at the NPC, displaying her settings before him. "...She's a slut! Damn, Tabula, you always put so much work in their personality, even if it didn't do much. But what if…"
The last sentence was deleted and replaces by a new one. "She is in love with Momonga."
"Oh no! Tabula would scold me to death if he saw what I did to his creation. But it's the last day, so I guess he'll forgive me." He laughed at his miserable prank. And now he could only wait to be logged out.
[23:59:50]
"I guess it's time to say goodbye."
He took one last look at the throne room, printing every detail in his memory. He didn't want to forget the 41 guildmates and everything in Nazarick. But unfortunately, the moment didn't last forever.
...
A portal of sorts opened before him and out came a shining white head, without any texture. Shocked for a second, he remembered what this was, a messenger of the devs. The biggest enemy of all players.
"Player: Momonga. It has come to our reports that you have gotten access to our server database. Your records for the last 24 hours will be deleted in 10 seconds."
The floating head declared without warning. Even when the game was ending, the devs couldn't leave anyone spared.
"No! You damn devs!"
Out of rage, he stood up, flaming at the messenger's head. He knew he couldn't do a thing against it, only cursing.

[00:00:00]
"Huh"
Nothing happened. The servers didn't shut down, and Momonga remained standing. He was not logged out, and the devs didn't delete him.
"This isn't right. Did they delay the shutdown? Then why am I still here and the floating head not? And I can't access my UI, nothing! Can't even call a GM!"
"What is going on?!"
A green aura enveloped the Overlord as he soon calmed down.
"Lord Momonga?" A feminine voice appeared from his right. As he looked, he saw Albedo in an unrecognizable position. And she could…
"What? S-She can speak?!" Again, something calmed him down.
"...Lord Momonga?!"
"Uh… Yes, the GM call isn't working."
"Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but I do not know what this GM call is."
"Not only does she speak, but her lips are moving. And I can smell stuff. Did an update happen? This is happening all too fast! Wait! I have to test something."
The Overlord did as he would clear his throat and spoke. "Albedo?" Momonga asked.
"Yes, Lord Momonga." Albedo replied.
"Come closer."
"Of course, my Lord."
She obeyed his command and neared the throne. She waited cautiously for any other thing he would command her, but for a short time, nothing left his mouth.
"I can smell her, and it smells wonderful. Got to ask her what perfume she wears. Now, for the next part."
"I will touch you now, Albedo."
"Do as you please, Lord Momonga." Her voice softened, from a regal one to a more sinister. Her face expressed nothing at the moment as she tried to hide her joy.
As his hands contacted her neck, she released a quiet sound from herself. Momonga chose ignored it.
"So she has a pulse now? Mmh… There's one last thing I have to check. Yggdrasil didn't allow any adult content. So if I just…"
"Albedo, I am going to touch your breasts now."
She didn't seem frightened, but actually came even closer to her master. And as his skeletal hands slowly made a touch, satisfying moans came from Albedo's side. After that, Ainz decided to stop.
"My Lord! Do you wish to do it right now? In the throne room, what better place to exist for it?"
The seductive beauty closed in, and her face was more of a drooling lover that couldn't wait any longer. She even put Momonga in a loop where his suppressor had to work multiple times.
"No Albedo, we have a difficult situation right now. There is no time for games!"
He ordered and the NPCs expression returned to her old one, as if she never fell into a more intimate state.
"As you wish, Lord Momonga."
The Overlord sat back on his throne and decided on his next command. "You will call all Guardians to the throne room, except Victim, Guardian of the 8th Floor, and Gargantua, Guardian of the 4th Floor. And put Nazarick in the highest emergency. We might have to deal with some trouble."
Nothing the Overseer couldn't do. "As you wish, Lord Momonga."
He stood up, and one ring of his many glowed, and he reappeared in his royal suite. There he was alone and could finally relax. He jumped on his bed and put his head into a pillow.
"That was exhausting! I didn't know it was so difficult to be a leader! Giving them all commands, I hope I could do so much. Next is to see if the NPCs are actually loyal to me. And I don't think this is Yggdrasil anymore, but something else. Maybe even real. Then I have to be extra careful. But, if that's true, then Nazarick is real... Something I wished for my entire life. And with this new body of a level 100 player, life will be so much better. Ahh, if only my friends could witness thi-"
A realization came into his mind. Something that he should've remembered when his life as an Overlord went on.
"Wait! The Staff! It still got a slot left!"
He left his bed as if time had reversed and turned to see his staff by his bed. Glorious as ever.
"But how do I access this menu? Can I even? No UI, nothing. Mmh..."
He grabbed the staff and then he felt it. He felt the emptiness inside it, that something in the staff could be filled.
"And now? No menu appeared to assist me. I guess this means I have to do it on my own."
That's it! Just got this idea to make the staff a world item and how it would change the story of Overlord, with Ainz maybe being a little less cautious and paranoid.
