This was inspired by one of my favorite songs, Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy 9. If you don't know it listen to it and you'll understand. While this is technically a song fic, I have removed the lyrics and only tied the plot to the song. I personally am not a fan of the story breaks for me to read lyrics to songs I do not know. Each chapter is going to be written as I listen to a song from FF9 so if you want a soundtrack to the story, look up the title of song listed on the the chapter and Final Fantasy 9
Disclaimer – I do not own InuYasha and if I did, he would have ended up with Sango and there would be much more InuSan fan fictions. Since I have read most of the longer complete ones on here I could only say in a deep, menacing voice "Fine, I'll do it myself." Just so you know, I have not watched the Final Act or the Sequel series as I just don't want to see them end up with the wrong people, in my opinion.
Chapter 1 – Friends Reunite, Love Revealed
Sango, last female taijiya and the eldest of the 2 remaining, kneeled before the graves of the remainder of her village. She found herself doing this a lot these days. In the 3 years since Naraku's defeat, she has spent most of her time kneeled before the graves, begging her father for guidance. I used to be so strong, she thought to herself as she thought of the feelings holding her down. Thoughts filled her mind of silver hair and golden eyes. Eyes filled with a burning determination and cocky fire to prove himself to any that may doubt him.
There had been a time when she had been promised to her friend Miroku, but when he was released from the curse of his wind tunnel, she knew that he no longer needed to get married immediately. Since he no longer needed to get married, she felt he no longer needed to settle for someone that did not love him like he deserved. She had left him at his master's temple and moved back her village.
She could feel the tears forming in the corners of her eyes and cursed her weakness. There was a time when she would never feel the need to cry, but in the time she has been alone, she has found it happening more and more. True she had Kohaku, returned to her by the grace of Kikyou. Never had she thought she would feel anything for the late miko but jealousy for the place she held in her hanyou's heart, but she could not help but feel gratitude for her actions.
Yes, she admitted to herself at her thoughts of InuYasha's love life, my hanyou. She had realized long ago her feelings for the half dog demon, she just never would delude herself to think anything would ever come of her feelings. She couldn't help but remember the time she had let her feelings come to the surface, the incident on Mount Kasumidake. Her senses had been dulled by the mists on the mountain, her inhibitions removed, she was able to speak her true feelings for her hanyou for the first and only time.
Why did she have to meet him. Because, her father's voice resounded in her head, the world isn't fair and you needed to feel the pain of love to become stronger. Her father's voice seemed to be the thing that spoke her harshest, most painful thoughts in her mind these days. She never saw him as a cruel or harsh man, just strict and practical. Since her mother passed in the birth of Kohaku, he had never encouraged her to find love, she hazarded a guess that it was because he feared losing her the same way.
But love is a great and powerful thing, her mothers voice responded to the harshness of her husband's words. This was a regular occurrence in her mind, her parents arguing over the merits of love. She couldn't help but think she may be going crazy. Hearing the voices of the dead giving her love advice is usually not a good thing.
As she heard the voices in her head bicker, she saw flashes in her mind of her time with the group. They had spent most of their time together in combat, but was that not how you learned to truly trust someone. Lay your life in their hands and trust that they will carry you out the other end. She and InuYasha had danced on the battle field many times and that had meant so much to her. The tears in her eyes started to trickle down the side of her face as the time she spent with him replayed in her head.
She could remember every funny thing he had ever said, every promise he had ever made to her, every promise she made to him and for him. She felt a pang in her heart as she thought of the promise she had made to herself spoken only to Miroku, one to accept and be with him no matter his decisions in life. Even if he decided to become a demon. That was a thought that came to her more and more recently, would she miss him being a hanyou? Of course, its how he had always been. But, she thought to herself, He would probably much happier as a demon. No more being judged for living in the center of two worlds. Maybe then even Sesshoumaru would accept him.
A chuckle sounded behind her as she thought this. She grabbed the wakizashi from her hip and swung herself around in combat ready stance to face the intruder. She recognized him the moment she saw his eyes. So much of his physical appearance had changed in the last 3 years, but his eyes had remained the same. His ears had lowered towards the sides of his face and moved slightly back even though they still held the dog like form. A Purple streak had formed on each of his cheeks just as they had when his demon blood had overtaken him during their quest.
The red fire rat clothes he had worn in their journey had been altered, embellishments had been added. Armor plating ran from his shoulder down his arm to his elbow and a fluffy cape the same color as his hair was flowing down his back and his hair was pulled back into a pony tail, held by a purple hair tie.
After taking in the changes to his appearance, her eyes met his again and she saw a warmth that she had only dreamed of in the past. "It's been quite some time, Sango-chan," his warm voice reached her ears and a shiver ran down her spine, she had feared she would never hear it again.
"InuYasha," she said returning her weapon to its scabbard. Letting her emotions take over for a moment, she ran to her old friend, the man she loved, and gave him the strongest hug she could manage. She held him for a couple of minutes, fearing that if she let go, he would disappear again
As if reading her mind, he stroked her hair and softly whispered, "I will never leave you again, Sango." With a soft growl, he pulled his back slightly and looked deep into her eyes, willing her to feel the love he felt for her.
"Why have you come now?" she asked, feeling what he was trying to say but still confused.
"I was visiting Mushin's temple, wanting to visit Miroku, and he told me of your vow. I already knew that I had chosen you to be my forever mate, but Miroku told me where to find you. I had ached for you at my side for the last three years, but never knew if you would accept my wish. When he told me of your vow, I had to come see you immediately, to make you see that I could make you happy. In the last 3 years, my link to your mind as my chosen forever mate grew stronger and I knew I would need to only convince you that I meant it."
Sango looked at the demon in her arms. He had chosen her as his forever mate? He wanted to spend a forever with her? Her mind soared through their time spent travelling together and she remembered all of the looks he had given her that she thought she had imagined. She had brushed them off as not possible but now she saw them and knew that they were real.
Her heart soared as she looked into his eyes, the love he held for her still radiating from them. She knew what she wanted to do, and could he feel it from the forming bond between them. While one sided now, once she accepted him as her forever mate, the bond between them would link them forever and beyond.
She looked at him carefully, she knew the words she was about to say could break her heart but she needed to say them. "What about Kagome?"
His smile never left his face. The love still in his eyes. The name had not even fazed his mood. "She would not accept my decision to become a full demon, so she went back to her time. Never to return," he said. "I was hurting at first, just because I was not accepted again, but I decided not to let it get to me. So, I journeyed to the western lands to see my brother. He then helped me to hone my new powers and gain full control of my demon blood."
With her question answered and no longer having any doubts, she moved her arms from his waist to his neck and pulled him into a soul-searing kiss. One that burned with all of the feelings she had been keeping from him. In that instant, she felt sparks fly all around her as they refused to let each other go, sharing themselves openly with their forever mate for the first time. She could feel the love he felt for her break through her mind as the bond of forever mates formed within her. They would never be far from each other, no matter the physical distance, their hearts and minds would be forever linked.
The kiss between them deepened as almost a feedback loop entered their bond. His love for her grew as her love for him did, and his growing love caused hers to grow for him. She could feel his hesitance as he pulled away, knowing that if he didn't, he would mark her right then and there but she could tell that he felt guilt for wanting to take her as his on the graves of her father and the rest of her village.
He looked down to the graves and knelt slowly. "Lord Kouyou," he said softly with a bow. She gazed lovingly at her forever mate as he spoke to her father's grave. "I swear upon my life that I will take care of your daughter. I will love her with everything that I am, and I will protect her and our future children. I swear this to you as the father of my forever mate."
He stood from his kneeling position and gave the grave one more bow before turning to his mate. He took her hand in his, placing the other on the hilt of his sword. This is when Sango noticed that the blade on his hip was not the one she had relied upon all those years ago to keep her safe. "Inu-kun," Sango started, a deep blush coming to both of their faces at the affectionate nickname she decided to use. Feeling the joy and love it instilled in her mate, she vowed to herself to use it more. "What happened to Tessaiga?"
Upon hearing the name of the sword, he had used to protect his love, the one that as a demon he could no longer use, he sighed. "I still have it, it's just with my other belonging in the Western Lands. I can't use it anymore, but it will be used again one day. When our child becomes old enough to wield it to protect the humans we will make sure that they love." InuYasha looked at her with love filling his gaze. Love pushed itself from him to her and she couldn't help but giggle at the feeling of love coming from her mate.
Drawing his hand away, he pulled his new blade from its sheath. The blade was long, thin and straight, He swung it before him with an easy finesse, his quick and powerful thrusts showed his skill with the weapon even though it was very different from the large katana he once wielded. He tossed it in his hand, grabbing the blade with his hand and held the hilt toward her.
She grabbed the hilt and felt just how light the blade truly was. It felt as though it weighed nothing but she felt the coursing power within. With a few practice swings, she definitely knew this was a very different type of weapon. A wave of power radiated off of the blade with each swing as she swung towards a tree. Large gashes cut into the tree with each swing as she danced with the blade. After a few minutes, she felt her mate's soft touch over her hand on the hilt and she let him take it. He faced the tree and with one swing and a yell of 'Majinken', the tree was cleaved in two and fell away from them.
"Majinken?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. She could feel his embarrassment pulled into her mind and she couldn't help but giggle at him.
"When I was young, my mother told me legends of the Majin, a race of demons that could grant wishes. I always dreamed of meeting one so I could have it grant me a wish, one that would make my mother happy. This blade can do whatever I need it to, it can do whatever I wish. I felt it would be a way to honor the memory of my mother," he responded with a slightly clouded look. It was obvious the memory of his mother was a hard one to look back on.
InuYasha sheathed the blade and took her hand again and he began leading her towards her hut in the village. He could tell because it was full of her scent. He had stopped off there to drop the few belongings he had brought with him. "It may not be the most creative name, but I will be creative when it comes to pleasing you, of this I swear." The passion in her love's voice, made her feel warm and safe as she gazed lovingly into his eyes.
When they arrived, he pulled her in for another kiss, the full amount of his love conveyed to her through the bond they shared. As they shared their love with each other, Sango started unstrapping the armor plates from his shoulders. With a loud clang they fell to the floor of the hut, taking the fluffy cape with them. InuYasha reached for Sango's obi, removing it and opening the kimono that she wore.
Sango, removed InuYasha's haori and undershirt in a fast motion, the passion building as the two friend's turned lovers prepared to share themselves with the other, finalizing the bond between them and declaring themselves forever mates. InuYasha undid the clasp on his love's taijiya armor, slowly bring it down, kissing down her body as he pulled it lower. As he reached her gentle folds, he kissed them sticking out his tongue, moaning as he tasted her juices.
Sango let out a gasp, her knees started to buckle under her. In a flash, her mate had scooped her up bridal style and lowered her to the bed she had slept in the previous night. Their bed she thought as he slowly kissed his way back down her body again. This time her gave her folds a gentle kiss and quick hum before moving on. He continued lowering her armor until he had completely removed it, giving her toes each a gentle kiss as they were released. A moan left her mouth at the feeling of his kisses on her skin and his love in her heart.
As he stood, she got on all fours before grabbing the band of his hakama and with one swift hard pull, they were down and his hard member was released. She gasped for a moment taking in the size of her mate before she slowly started to lay kisses on its length. Starting at the tip she made her way down the shaft, taking in the scent of her mate with each kiss. She reached the end of the shaft, then in one swift motion, licked back to the tip and took his full length into her mouth.
She could feel the love and need from her mate and vowed to make him feel as good as she could. He pulled himself away from her, laying her back down on the bed. He then straddled her head laying down on top of her and she understood what he was doing. If she was going to bring him such pleasure, he would do the same for her.
As InuYasha licked and hummed into her folds and she fondled and loved his shaft, each moan driving each other mad making the moans happen more frequently, the passion continued to build until Sango felt herself nearing her climax. As he could feel her pleasure, InuYasha stopped his ministrations and removed his member from her mouth. She was about to protest when she was kissed with the full passion of their love making.
So powerful were the emotions in the kiss, she barely noticed the tip of his member pass her folds before he gave a hard thrust, trying to break her barrier as she was engulfed in the passion and joy he felt to be with her. He felt no sense of pain from her so he knew he was successful and he held the kiss for a moment longer as her body adjusted to his size.
Once he felt she had, he began moving in and out of her slowly, lovingly. Trying not to be driven solely by passion, but to appreciate the feeling of her around him. She screamed out his name, pleasure and passion filling their bond. He kissed his mate again, each thrust pulling them deeper and deeper into the kiss. He felt her tighten around him, knowing that she was about to release and he increased his speed, wanting to share their first release together as mates.
As her release came, he felt her tighten around him harder and he knew his was coming fast. As it did, his demonic fangs sunk into his Sango's shoulder. He could taste the metallic taste of her blood as he broke the skin and he knew that she was his. Forever and beyond.
She bit into his shoulders, knowing that her love for him would make her bite cut as deep as his fangs and she tasted his blood as well. This was part of the mating ritual of forever mates. While with regular mating, the male was the only one to mark the female, the mark showing her as his and it would fade if he gave her up, but for forever mates, both marked the other, showing that the love was shared and stronger than any other. Binding them in flesh for a demon's lifetime and the soul forever, in this world and the next. Forever and beyond.

Kohaku had seen the demon enter the village and make his way to his sister's hut. He had watched him enter for a moment and then come out after dropping his possessions. He then made his way to the graveyard where his sister spent her time.
He knew she could take care of herself; however, Kohaku followed the demon, just to be safe. When the demon stopped and watched his sister, he was confused. Something had seemed familiar about this demon but he could not place what. He watched the interactions between his sister and the demon with interest. He was too far to hear what was being said, but he could tell there was no danger.
He was about to leave when the demon kissed his sister. Kohaku quickly rushed to the nearest hut, not wanting to be caught as he watched them. He could see them talking and laughing but he could not tear himself away from watching. Sango had been so depressed the last few years, seeing her so happy lifted his heart.
He heard the demon yell Majinken as he swung his blade, then heard his sister giggle loudly. As the demon and his sister proceeded to her hut, he was afraid to stay near them. He heard the armor clang to the ground loudly and put his hand on the sickle of his weapon, prepared just in case. Then he heard his sister's moans and he knew it was time to leave. Not wanting to hear his sister make love to this familiar demon, he started walking toward his hut.
As he walked away, he heard his sister scream the name of her lover and he immediately understood why he was so familiar. It was the hanyou that had fought by her side and he became a full demon with the Shikon no tama. He entered his hut with a smile and a blush on his face. He knew his sister would be happy and safe in the arms of the man she loved and who loved her. But he had not needed to hear that.
I have never written a lemon scene before and I am not sure how I did on it. There probably won't be any more, I just felt it was important to establish the power of their bond and show the finalization of it. I am gonna try to post regularly. See you soon for the Eternal Harvest
