I do not own any of the characters in this story. They belong to the all mighty Kishimoto-sama, and his work on Naruto will forever be legendary. If, for some bizarre reason, you are reading this and have never read or seen Naruto, put this down and go read/watch that instead…uncultured swine.
Chapter 1: I want to be Hokage
"We have to find him. If word gets out that he's escaped, we're dead"
"Don't alert anyone else Owl. We can find him before anyone else finds out, I promise. We just have to move fast"
The two men clad in black took off running, exiting from a bunker hidden behind the mountain faces of leaders passed. The door slid shut, and the two men stood atop the third face.
"Lord Danzo will kill us if Lord Third discovers the boy before us" Owl sighed, turning to look at his partner.
"Then stop yammering and get a move on"
They leaped from their perch, unaware that their failure was already known, and their fates already sealed. The two of them raced across the village as discreetly as possible, careful not to draw attention from anyone that would question their urgency. And soon they came to a clearing in the woods. They could hear laughing and crying.
"I bet you're some kind of monster, aren't you?"
"Yeah, a Byakugan monster" three boys were tormenting a small girl with dark blue hair as she knelt in front of the three boys, crying and apologizing over and over. But they continued to laugh at her.
"Hey, cut it out" a fourth boy appeared and the two men felt relieved to have found who they were looking for.
"Hold on" Owl stopped at the outstretched arm before him.
"What the hell are you doing Bear? He'll kill them if we don't stop him"
"Let's just see what happens. Think of it as a training exercise for the demon brat"
"Who are you?" one of the bullies asked, eyeing the newcomer.
"I'm Naruto, leave the girl alone, and I might let you live" Naruto answered, a cold look in the cerulean blue in his eyes.
"Might let us live? huh, what are you stupid? There's three of us" another of the bullies laughed, pointing at himself and the other two members in his group.
"I tried to warn you" Naruto whispered, but before he could take a step forward, Owl flicked a rock at Naruto to knock him off balance.
"What are you doing?" Bear reprimanded, turning towards Owl. Even with the mask covering his face, the disapproval was evident.
"We cannot allow Naruto to kill other people. It would draw too much attention" Owl explained, Bear looked like he wanted to argue but the sound of scuffling grabbed the two men's attention.
"Acting tough and I took you down with one punch. Thought you were cool or something? What a joke" the bullies laughed again before turning back towards the blue haired girl. "Whatever, let's go. They're no fun" the three bullies began to walk off laughing about their handy work.
Owl moved to recover Naruto but again Bear stopped him.
"Look" was all Bear said as the two turned to see the girl kneeling next to Naruto as he propped himself up on his elbows.
"A-are you okay?" she asked, taking in his pale skin and cold eyes. She shied away from his gaze.
He threw himself back down on the ground and sighed; "Yeah, it's nothing. I'm used to it."
"I'm r-really sorry to have c-caused you so much t-trouble. Because of me…y-you got hurt." The girl stammered out. Whether it was because of Naruto's cold gaze that made her nervous of the events that just unfolded, neither Owl nor Bear could decide.
"Nah, forget it" Naruto brushed her off. The girl smiled, but when Naruto didn't return it, she couldn't hide the crestfallen look in her eyes.
"Uh…um…" she started to say.
"Hm?"
"I just wanted to say thank-" "Lady Hinata" someone called out. Owl and Bear froze in their spots. This was bad news. "He's a member of the Hyuga clan. If he tells anyone about Naruto we're screwed" Owl started to whisper, but Bear shook his head.
"He's not going to tell anyone" He answered, surprising Owl.
"How can you be so sure?" Owl insisted, turning to watch as the Hyuga member approached the Naruto and Hinata.
"Because then he'll have to explain to the head of the Hyuga clan why the heiress of the Hyuga clan was left alone to be bullied in the woods" Bear explained, and realization hit Owl.
"Anything to save your own skin, right?" Bear added. They couldn't see each other's faces, but they each knew the other was smiling.
"Ko-San" Hinata called out. As Ko stopped in front of her, he eyed the boy suspiciously.
"Who is this?" though he asked it calmly, it was a demand none the less.
"This is Naruto…he—" Naruto turned his gaze towards Ko, and before Hinata could even finish speaking, Ko grabbed her hand and pulled her along.
"Lady Hinata, we're going" he commanded, leaving little room for argument.
"But—" Hinata tried to argue but again Ko interrupted her.
"We must head home, it's time for your training" he silenced her. Hinata looked back to see Naruto simply lying on the ground. He seemed to be just admiring the sky, as if he had never seen it before.
Ko could feel a cold sweat roll down his neck and forced his legs to keep moving. 'This boy is dangerous. I've never seen him before but there's something evil surrounding him. A numbing sense of killing intent radiating off him. I have to get Lady Hinata away from this…monster.' He thought, determined to get Hinata as far away from this overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and dread.
"Ko-San, N-Naruto-Kun s-saved me Ko-San. W-we should h-help him" Hinata pleaded, but to no avail. Ko looked deep in thought, and despite his best efforts to hide it, Hinata could tell he was doing his absolute best not to look back.
"You guys can come out now. Your experiment's over" Naruto called out. Owl and Bear froze in surprise.
"Damn brat is something else" Owl mumbled, but before they could even take a step into the clearing they froze again in fear.
"Who are you?" Naruto asked lazily. Though he was speaking to the newcomer, he turned to look at the two men frozen in the bushes.
"I am Hiruzen Sarutobi. The third Hokage. I believe I should be asking who you are, young man, considering I have never seen you before in the walls of my village" Hiruzen answered. He eyed the boy suspiciously, but approached him still.
"I'm Naruto…Naruto Uzumaki" Naruto replied, turning to face the third Hokage. "What…is a Hokage?" he asked, taking in the appearance of the old man for the first time.
"Hm, that's a good question. I'll tell you what, how about you and I take a stroll and I will tell you what a Hokage is, if and only if, you tell me how you came to be in this village" Hiruzen answered. Naruto looked to contemplate it for a moment, and before sitting up turned his gaze back towards the two men in the bushes.
"Lord Danzo is going to kill us. We're so dead" Bear uttered in near silence. Owl however was still frozen in his spot. He already knew what was going to happen once it was discovered Naruto escaped from his confinement.
"Sure. I guess I can tell you" Naruto shrugged before standing up. His stomach grumbled and he turned towards the third. "Hey old man…I'm hungry" he informed him, much to Naruto's surprise, Hiruzen began to laugh.
"I think it's the perfect time for lunch" he said, before leading Naruto out of the clearing towards the village.
"What do we do now?" Owl turned to Bear only to notice a tanto blade sticking out of his chest. When Owl turned to face who was holding the other end, he knelt before his attackers.
"Lord Danzo, forgive me. I-I had no idea that Naruto escaped until Bear informed me of it"
"Owl" Danzo spoke, silencing the explanation Owl was hurriedly spewing. "Bear was past his usefulness in my organization. He was bound to end up at the end of Falcon's blade. You however, should have known better than to go along with his plan. I knew of your failure, and I waited until I was certain that you had betrayed me" Danzo continued, much to Owl's disagreement.
"I would never betray you Lord Danzo. We were trying to asses—" but Owl's words were cut short by Falcon's blade.
"You betrayed me the moment Hiruzen discovered the boy" Danzo looked in the direction of the village. "This could work in our favor however. Leave the boy to Hiruzen, no doubt the third will do what he always does and the nine tails will be ours again. Dispose of them and return to base. This part of our research is done" Danzo instructed. He began to walk away from the clearing as Falcon began to cleanse the area.
"Yes, I'm certain you'll make a fine shinobi…Naruto Uzumaki"
"And that's what a Hokage is" Hiruzen had just finished his explanation to Naruto who was busy examining his meal. Unsure of whether or not Naruto was even listening, Hiruzen cleared his throat. "Naruto?" he asked, getting Naruto's attention.
"What is this?" Naruto asked, taking a sniff of his food.
"It's ramen…miso pork ramen to be exact" Hiruzen eyed the boy curiously. Logically the boy seemed to be as normal as any other boy in the village. However, there was something vastly wrong with the boy. It was as if he had never been outside or eaten anything but bread. The more Hiruzen studied him the more he was reminded of someone from his past. And soon enough he couldn't contain his curiosity any longer.
"Now Naruto, I have some questions of my own that I need you to answer for me" he started to say, Naruto had just taken his first mouthful of ramen and was hungrily devouring the rest. 'Guess he likes it' Hiruzen thought, a smirk on his face. Teuchi, the owner of the ramen stand, nodded his approval of Naruto's appetite before placing another bowl in front of him.
"It's always nice to see someone discover their love of ramen in my shop. This one's on the house" Teuchi smiled, giving Naruto a thumbs up.
"Thank you very much" Naruto bowed his head before diving into his second bowl.
"Naruto?" insisted, and when Naruto nodded that he was listening, the third continued. "Where are you parents Naruto?" he asked, and immediately could tell the question was a difficult one.
"I don't know" Naruto shrugged, taking another mouthful of ramen.
"Are they alive?" the third asked.
"I don't know" Naruto repeated.
"Are they from the hidden leaf village?"
Again, Naruto shrugged. Hiruzen sighed, this was going to be more difficult than he thought. The boy didn't seem to know anything about where he was from, where he was, or who he himself is at all.
"Okay, Naruto, here's an easier question...when is your birthday?" Teuchi asked, looking towards the third with a wink and a smirk. The third nodded in understanding. It was a genius question. If they could discover when the boy was born, then perhaps they could discover where he was from or where his parents might be.
"October tenth" Naruto answered, as he finished downing the last of the broth. He placed the bowl to the side and was surprised when Teuchi placed another bowl in front of him.
"And how old are you Naruto?" Hiruzen pressed, watching as Naruto took a long whiff of the food in front of him. The scene made Hiruzen sad, just what kind of life was this boy living that the smell of ramen alone was a mystery to him.
"I'm six" Naruto answered, turning to face Hiruzen for the first time since they sat down. There was that cold stare that he turned on him when they first met, but now underneath the ice was a little boy just as curious as the third. The pain in those eyes made Hiruzen sigh in defeat. He had a pretty good idea who the boy's parents were and where he was from.
"Naruto…have you ever heard the tale of the Fourth Hokage and the nine tailed demon fox?" Hiruzen asked. When Naruto shook his head, Hiruzen dove straight into the tale of how the fourth Hokage faced the most fearsome demon in all of the ninja world—and won.
"It was at the cost of his own life, but the fourth Hokage gave his life to protect the lives of his people and the Village hidden in the leaves. He was a true Hokage right until the end" Hiruzen praised his successor, sadness in his voice.
"Is that why you became Hokage old man? To protect people?" Naruto asked, turning his attention towards the third again.
Hiruzen smiled; "Being Hokage is more than just protecting people. It's about leading your people. It's about making sure you can calm them in the face of a storm. Being Hokage is a lot like being a parent" Naruto skeptically raised an eyebrow.
"That's a lot of kids to look after" he mumbled, which made both older men laugh.
"It can be a handful, yes, but there is nothing more fulfilling in the life of a ninja than protecting your family" Hiruzen smiled.
"Can…Can I be in your family?" Naruto hung his head, and despite having whispered his request, the third had heard it.
He placed a hand on the small boy's shoulder; "You already are Naruto. You are a member of the hidden leaf and are a member of this family" Naruto didn't smile or jump for joy. Instead, he bowed his head and thanked the third for his words.
"Naruto, one last question and that'll be the end of this" Hiruzen said, Naruto's gaze rested on the old man's face. "Where were you before you came to find yourself in the woods?" he asked. Naruto's eyes glazed over before he clutched at his head. Images of blood and rage flashed before his eyes. He began to breathe heavy as the images grew in intensity and before he knew it, he collapsed from his seat onto the ground. Just as suddenly as they started—they stopped.
"N-Naruto?" Hiruzen knelt next to the boy, a hand on his back.
"I don't want to go back" Naruto huffed, the whimper in his voice didn't escape Hiruzen. He helped the boy to his feet before suggesting he retake his seat.
"Back to where, where were you before?" the third asked, after Naruto seemed to have calmed down.
"A dark room. I was forced to fight. I was forced to hurt people" Naruto admitted. Though he wanted to cry, the ability had long since left him.
"Who made you do those things?" Hiruzen inquired, and though he was pretending not to listen, Teuchi's head tilted to the side in order to hear better.
"I don't know. They kept me in the dark all the time so that I couldn't see. I don't want to go back" Naruto insisted, lifting his head to face the third. The plea was in his words, but his eyes remained cold and lonely.
"You won't have to" Hiruzen promised. "I will arrange for a place for you to stay. Listen to me Naruto, I cannot promise that life will be easy going for you going forward. But I will do my best to make sure it isn't what it was before now. If you like, and if it's something that interests you, you can enroll in school where you can learn an assortment of different things" he offered, and Naruto seemed to be thinking it over. "Don't make an old man worry" he added, a smile on his wrinkled face.
"Can I learn more about the Hokages in school?" Naruto asked, and when Hiruzen nodded, Naruto mimicked him. "I want…to be Hokage" Naruto added, taking the third by surprise.
"Why would you want to be Hokage Naruto?" Hiruzen asked, genuinely curious.
"Earlier…there were three boys picking on this girl. It reminded me of the dark room. I want to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves. I want to protect those who can't protect themselves. I want to be strong for them" Naruto answered, and when he turned to face the third again, for the first time since he found the little boy, there seemed to be life in them. "I won't go back" Naruto reaffirmed, almost more to himself than to anyone else.
Hiruzen nodded, understanding just how horrible it must have been for such a young child to have to endure such malice from those who sought to use him. 'I have a rather good idea of who would do such a thing and I'm certain that he'll remain in the shadows until the time is right…Naruto Uzumaki, I think I know just who you are exactly. I am sorry that I didn't get to you first but I promise you that you won't have to go back' Hiruzen mentally prepared himself for the inevitable battle that would rise from this, but he knew that it was the right thing to do.
"I will inform the academy that you will be joining them Naruto. It will be difficult but I have faith you will do great" Naruto nodded in understanding before the third made a gesture and a man in a Dragon mask appeared.
"Lord Hokage" Dragon kneeled.
"Take my new friend Naruto to this address and make sure that he is set up with whatever he needs. Instruct Cat and Frog that they are to watch over Naruto until further notice and to ensure that nothing happens to him" Hiruzen commanded, he smiled at Naruto who eyed the masked woman with caution. "These ninjas are on my side, Naruto. You have nothing to worry about" The third said, making sure that Naruto caught his meaning. The young boy nodded that he understood and walked over to Dragon before taking her hand in his own. She looked down at the boy curiously before bowing to the Hokage again and with that they were gone.
"That Naruto sure can eat" Teuchi marveled at the empty bowls he was gathering. "I've never seen such a small six-year-old. Almost as if he was fed the bare minimum. Poor thing" he continued as he stacked the last of the five bowls and turned to walk into the back.
"I'm afraid that's exactly the case" Hiruzen sighed. He placed his seal on the counter, a customary thing that he did to inform shop owners to send him the bill. He took his leave as well, making a mental note to inform his old student of this new turn of events. He would certainly be thrilled to learn of the Uzumaki boy and would most likely come running at the news. Hopefully, the boy wasn't too far gone and could be saved from the already dark path he was set on.
The following day, as Hiruzen promised, Naruto was allowed to attend his first day in school around kids his own age. That very same day, the clan heads, the council and other denizens of note began to question the origin of this boy. Hiruzen did his best to explain that the boy was born in the leaf and tried to keep hidden his suspicions of the boy's heritage. When Shikaku Nara pointed out the odd coincidence that the boy's birthday and the fourth's death day were the same, others were quick to piece together what that meant. The morning consisted of nothing but arguments, where half the room was concerned that the boy was a threat to everyone, and the other half argued that he was just a boy. This got them nowhere. One half truly believed he was the demon reincarnated while the others just wanted to let the boy live a normal life. Hoping that if they treated him like a normal kid, he wouldn't decide to turn on them and destroy everything should he feel the need. The arguments ended when Hiruzen declared that Naruto containing the demon fox inside him be a classified secret of the utmost importance. More arguing ensued until the Hokage added that anyone who broke the rule would be executed. After a long silence, and much more bickering, the collective group agreed, some more reluctant than others.
Naruto wasn't faring much better in his new environment. He was receiving questioning glares from the other kids and a lot of them out right refused to even acknowledge his presence. It wasn't until half way through the day that Naruto had even spoken his first words to anyone. Spotting the blue haired girl from the other day, people watched in disbelief as he walked over to her, hands in his pockets, without a single regard for anyone else.
"N-Naruto-Kun" Hinata mumbled as he stood in front of her. The other kids started to whisper, pointing at the pair of them.
"Are you okay?" Naruto asked, turning his icy stare to the rest of his classmates. They looked away, but even still they kept glancing at the two of them.
"Y-yes. T-thank you a-again" Hinata answered, but Naruto already began to walk away. Hinata couldn't hide the disappointment on her face. 'Maybe Naruto-Kun doesn't want to be my friend either' no sooner had the thought crossed her mind than Naruto spoke over his shoulder.
"If you hang out with me, people will avoid you too" he continued walking, not bothering to acknowledge anyone else around him. As he passed a raven-haired boy they locked eyes, an understanding passed between them. They understood the loneliness the other experienced. They were different, but somehow the same. They didn't say anything to one another, and instead returned to their solitary existence.
"Who is that kid? He's kind of scary" one of the other kids whispered to their friend.
"I know what you mean"
Naruto didn't pay attention to them, but in the back of his mind he couldn't help but feel that the old man had lied to him. This was no better than being in the dark room. Alone, feared, treated like an outcast. This felt worse. Being in the light was supposed to be comforting and friendly, but this was far worse. Being ignored and avoided hurt more than being alone.
"Alright, alright, settle down. Today we're going to be talking about what it means to be a ninja. A shinobi of the leaf. Anyone want to take a guess at what being a shinobi is about?" the instructor, a man by the name of Daikoku Funeno, looked around the room before his eyes settled on Naruto. "How about we hear from the new student today. Would you like to take a guess?"
Naruto stood from his seat, his head hanging low as he spoke; "A shinobi's existence is the same as a weapon. They exist solely to complete the task of their owner. If they can't, then they are a useless weapon and must be replaced" Naruto didn't raise his eyes to look at anyone, and even though he couldn't see them, he could feel them staring. He retook his seat and returned to looking at the sky.
"Uh…thank you…Naruto" Daikoku said, a lump in his throat. 'What is wrong with this kid? It's like he's been brainwashed into being nothing but a weapon' "L-let's uh, let's do some activities for a bit" he hurriedly added. The class groaned and as unwillingly as they were, set to work on the activities they were assigned to complete.
The rest of the day continued much like the beginning of it. The other students avoided Naruto as much as possible. Though Naruto did notice that Hinata kept stealing glances at him. Once or twice, she was caught and quickly looked away embarrassed. The same was almost true for the raven-haired boy, he would occasionally find himself looking in the direction of the blond, but wouldn't be as careless to get caught red handed. The blond intrigued him. They were both surrounded by this darkness that threatened to swallow them whole. They both seemed content to be sitting in the dark, though the blond looked as if he'd been sitting in the dark for so long that being in the light might actually hurt him.
News of the new decree quickly spread throughout the village, and despite it being classified Hiruzen was unable to discover who leaked the information to everyone without the need to know. He hoped that by telling the clan heads and council members alone that they would be able to protect Naruto in some small way but now he had to worry about what some people might do if they were of the same mind as half the meeting was. If they believed Naruto was the demon itself, they might try to attack the boy or worse. He hoped that wouldn't come to pass, but sure enough, just as the thought crossed his mind, he got a bad feeling in his stomach.
"Lord Hokage"
"Hm?" Hiruzen acknowledged Dragon's presence and signaled he was listening.
"There was…an incident involving the Uzumaki boy" she informed him, her head hung low in a bow. Hiruzen wheeled around; "Is he hurt?" he demanded, but Dragon shook her head.
"No, Lord Hokage. In fact, I believe you best see it for yourself" she answered. Something in the way she said it, made the knot in the third's stomach tighten. He nodded for her to lead the way. They traveled for a bit before coming to small alley way. At the end of it was clearly Naruto, sitting in a puddle, absentmindedly staring at the darkening sky while Cat was checking him for injuries. When Cat and Frog saw the third approaching, they both rushed forward and knelt at his feet.
"What happened here?" he asked, the two anbu members looked towards one another before turning to look at Naruto.
"Lord Hokage…this boy…is dangerous" Frog whispered, turning to look at Naruto again. "Some of the villagers cornered him here while Cat and I were busy trying to stop the others from joining them" Frog continued but his voice hitched as he tried to continue.
"Lord Hokage, Naruto was being attacked by a group of them and then he…" Cat stopped before looking towards Frog as if asking if what they saw was really okay to speak about.
"Well?" Hiruzen demanded, the forcefulness in his voice startled them before they both bowed their heads deeper.
"Naruto attacked them. Without a single shred of remorse or hesitation. He killed them all Lord Hokage…but it was his eyes Lord Hokage. They were…blood red, and…they were so evil" Frog struggled to say. "I've never felt such darkness before. It was as if—" "You were looking at a demon" Hiruzen finished. He sighed before gesturing for the two of them to stand.
"Listen to me, should anyone ask what transpired here you are to tell them that you delt with these people. You will not mention what you saw, you will not repeat what you just told me, you will do a better job of protecting Naruto. And you will do so without question" he ordered, they nodded.
"Yes, Lord Hokage" they said in Unison.
"Is he hurt?" Hiruzen asked, looking past the two of them towards Naruto. The other three turned to look at him as well.
"No, Lord Hokage, after he was done, he simply sat down and stared up at the sky" Dragon answered. "It's almost as if it was normal for him" they were trained not to show emotion, but even still she couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy.
"Very well" Hiruzen replied. He strode past the three anbu members, taking in the carnage that Naruto left behind. Blood decorated the walls, viscera lay strewn about, and in the center of it all was this small child who looked incapable of such mayhem.
"Naruto?" the third asked as he approached the boy.
"Oh, hello old man" Naruto answered, turning his bloody face to look at the new comer.
"Naruto, why did you do this?" Hiruzen asked, gesturing around him.
"Because there was no other choice"
"No other choice?"
"Yes"
"How was there no other choice Naruto?"
"Because the first rule of the dark room is to kill all enemies. They were my enemy. I killed them" Naruto's cold tone never faltered.
"Naruto, you're no longer in that dark room. In the village you cannot kill people simply because they are your enemy"
"Then should I have led them outside the village?" Naruto cheekily asked. Hiruzen's scrunched up face of disapproval didn't go unnoticed.
"I'm sorry Naruto. I thought that you would be safe with Frog and Cat watching over you, but I seem to have been mistaken"
"It isn't their fault old man. I led these people here because they were my enemy. I had the advantage in this alleyway. I used this enclosed space to my advantage" Naruto explained.
Hiruzen sighed; "Naruto, I need you to promise that you won't go around killing anymore people when they threaten you. Let Frog, Cat and Dragon handle those things from now on, okay?"
Naruto stood up from his spot, blood staining his shorts and shirt, his normal blond hair tainted with the blood of the villagers; "For you, old man, I promise" Naruto bowed to the third before walking over to Dragon and taking her hand in his again. Hiruzen nodded that they were done and watched as Dragon escorted Naruto home again.
"Cat, Frog"
"Yes, Lord Hokage"
"Please clean this up" Hiruzen instructed before he too took his leave.
"Why does the boy like Dragon so much?"
"I don't know. I don't care"
Naruto entered his small apartment, bidding farewell to Dragon as she closed the door behind him. She didn't go far and instead sat on a roof across from the building to keep lookout. Naruto disappeared for a bit but when he returned clean and changed, Dragon assumed he showered. She couldn't explain it, but she wanted to protect this boy from whoever turned him into that monster that left behind all that death. She watched as he ate silently and alone, and felt absolutely horrible that she let him convince her to buy him weeks' worth of instant ramen. It was the only thing he would touch. After he finished, he crawled into his single bed and lie motionless.
"Such a strange kid" Dragon mumbled. Most kids toss and turn but this kid just lie there like he was made of stone. It was as if he had no emotion at all. "Who the hell turns a cute little kid like that into a killer?" she couldn't help but feel angry, and only calmed down when Frog and Cat joined her.
"Is this what we're going to be doing from now on?" Cat asked, taking the seat on Dragon's right.
"I don't mind so long as it's quiet" Frog answered taking the seat on the other side.
"We are to watch over the boy as long as Lord Hokage commands us to" Dragon answered, taking a drink from her water skin.
"I've never seen such a thing from a child before" Frog admitted, his eyes fixed on Naruto's window.
"Neither have I" Cat agreed, but she didn't seem as bothered by it as Frog was.
"I have. From two separate child prodigies. Both Anbu while other kids their age were just entering the academy. Cold, calculated, and precise" Dragon said, garnering the attention of the other two.
"Who were they?"
"One of them is still in the anbu, the other abandoned the village. That's about as much as I care to speak about it" Dragon curtly replied, ending the conversation.
"Do you think this kid is really worth all the trouble?" Frog asked.
"I hope so" Cat sighed.
Dragon smirked under her mask; "Something tells me that Naruto Uzumaki will be someone of great importance."
AN: There you have it, first chapter for a new story. It's wildly OC for Naruto, but I've been reading quite a bit of fics and I wanted to try my hand at it. I have a pretty good idea where I want the story to go and I have a pretty good idea how to get there. I haven't decided if this will be a NaruHina fic mostly because Naruto is a little dead on the inside, but who knows, Love can conquer all. I'm using the animal names of the anbu masks as opposed to giving each character a personal identity and you'll see why later on, but for the moment I'm going by the Naruwiki for the meanings behind each mask.
Let me know what you guys think, if you want more, if it was bad just tell me and I'll mfing start over. No joke. I love writing and sometimes I want to do just that. Give me your feedback like you're giving Goku energy and I promise to do my best to give you one hell of a story.
