I leaned against a wall of the crypt and a bed cot underneath me. I had been stuck in this crypt with witches keeping an eye on me 24/7 for days now. I have no idea what day it is nor the time of the day. I haven't seen the sun or the moon. Just these old stone walls.
I have been completely bored out of my mind just sitting here. The witches at least brought food and water. I looked down at my flat stomach and gingerly placed my hand on top of it.
Jane-Anne's spell proved it that day. I'm pregnant with mine and Nik's child. I've had days to wrap my head around on how this was even possible. We've had sex several times and this never happened. It finally dawned on me one day. This must have happened the day after I was turned into an Original Werewolf.
Sophie and Jane-Anne believed it was because Nik is the Original Hybrid and technically he was a werewolf first before a vampire. It could be rare, but he still had the ability to procreate and only with another werewolf. I let them think about what they want. I need to keep it a secret of what I really am.
Right now, that's the only advantage I have on them. I need to keep it like that until this baby finally arrives. After that, they're dead.
"Hey wolf." I looked up, "Get up. You got a visitor." One of the witches said. I frowned, is Nik here? How did he find me?
I stood up and followed the witches out of the crypt. I heard the sounds of crickets, the moon and stars shining bright in the night sky. I followed the witches that surrounded me. I turned a corner and froze. A very familiar Original vampire in a suit and tie stood next to Sophie.
"Elijah." Elijah didn't respond at first. He gave me a peculiar look. He turned his head back to Sophie.
"Give us a moment, please." Elijah politely asked.
I was back in the crypt, sitting on the bench in the middle of it. Elijah stood by me. The witches were close but not close enough to hear our conversation.
"I'm surprised you found me first." I started the conversation.
"I followed my own lead to find you. Niklaus is here as well as your brother and sister. They went a different way of trying to find you here but they hit a dead end." Elijah informed. He took a seat next to me and lifted one leg to rest on top of the bench.
"How did they get you?" Elijah asked curiously.
"Jane-Anne Deveraux was in Mystic Falls. She stopped me to ask for directions, saying she was lost. Hayley, a backstabbing werewolf, was with her. They drugged me with some herbs and loaded me up in a car and drove me here. Next thing I know, I'm waking up in this crypt. I've been here for days. I haven't been allowed to leave. I'm their leverage against Nik." I answered him.
"To have him stop Marcel for them." I nodded my head.
"Yeah, whoever the hell that is." I scoffed. Elijah gave me a look and I deadpanned.
"You know who that is...don't you?" Elijah nodded his head.
My shoulders slumped and I leaned back on the bench, "Of course you do. Let me guess, an old enemy of the Originals?" Elijah chuckled and shook his head.
"Not exactly. I think you should ask Niklaus about Marcel. Speaking of which, are you positive that you are really with child?" Elijah asked, finally addressing the elephant in the room.
I nodded my head, "Jane-Anne performed a spell to confirm it. I can't really explain the spell that well but it essentially required DNA from me and Nik. Hayley apparently stole a hairbrush from the house that Nik has used. They used his hair and my blood for the spell. Apparently the blood connected to the strand of hair they had from Nik. That confirmed that I have our child growing in my womb right now. A witch paternity test essentially." I answered.
"How is this even possible? You and Niklaus have been mates for far longer. If there was a chance you could have gotten pregnant, it would have happened sooner." Elijah said with a furrowed brow.
My eyes shifted to the exit of the crypt. I put my finger to my lips and used my hand to gesture to him to lean forward. Elijah got the hint and leaned closer.
"We had slept together the day after I became an Original Werewolf. That's when this started. That's the only explanation I can come up with. I haven't told the witches this. They don't know about me and I'd like to keep it that way." I whispered lowly.
Elijah pulled back and had a look of realization on his face now. "That would make sense. Niklaus was originally a werewolf before being turned into a vampire. I do believe you and Niklaus have found a loophole with mother nature to conceive children." I nodded my head in agreement.
"Because of that, I'm now going to have a very large target on my back." Elijah leaned over and placed a hand on top of my arm.
"I give you my word, Allye. I will not let anything happen to this child. You have already helped Niklaus so much that I'm now recognizing the brother I once had. Having this baby on top of it...will bring the Niklaus I knew back for good." I gave Elijah a small smile and nodded.
"I'm glad you feel that way, because we need your help." I instantly lost my smile hearing Sophie's voice.
Elijah stood up from his spot on the bench, "To stop Marcel, I take it?" Elijah asked.
Sophie nodded, "We want to run Marcel and his vampires out of town. Klaus is the key. Everything Marcel knows about being a vampire, he learned from Klaus. Marcel trusts him, looks up to him, and he won't see the betrayal coming." Sophie explained her plan. So Nik sired Marcel himself. He doesn't do that often. Just who is this Marcel guy to him?
"Yes, well, as I'm sure you're aware. My brother doesn't like to be told what to do. Especially seeing as you took his mate from him." Elijah remarked.
"I can answer that." I said smugly. I let one of my claws form and cut the palm of my hand. I grinned seeing Sophie hiss in pain and show her wound on her hand.
Elijah looked at me then at Sophie with horror on his face, "You're linked." He stated.
Sophie glared at me whilst I gave her a cocky smirk, "Yup. If Nik doesn't do what she says. It's curtains for me and the baby." Elijah glared at Sophie darkly. He did not like that.
"You're also forgetting the part that Marcel does not like werewolves. He drove them out decades ago. You really think he's going to welcome a hybrid baby to the neighborhood? Convince Klaus to help us, and no one has to know about the newest member of the Original family." Sophie added as she held her bloodied hand.
"You're trudging on dangerous grounds Miss Deveraux." Elijah noted.
"Like I said, I'm desperate." Sophie reiterated.
"Well, then, I have my work cut out for me, don't I?" Elijah pulled his handkerchief from his breast pocket and handed it to Sophie. More than likely to press against the bleeding wound I gave her. Only one of us has supernatural healing abilities.
Elijah began to walk away, "Elijah!" He stopped and turned to me.
"When you bring Nik here. Let me talk to him alone first. He needs to hear the news from me. He won't believe it coming from anyone else." Elijah nodded and turned back around.
I turned my head back to Sophie, "You might want to get that bleeding under control first. Don't want a vampire to come after you." I said with a smirk on my face. Sophie said nothing and walked away. It's the small victories that are often the most satisfying.
I paced back and forth in the crypt. Two witches were posted outside. It was taking longer than I expected for Elijah to find Nik.
"Hey guys." I stopped pacing and turned to hear Sophie's voice, "The Hybrid's coming through. Give them some space to talk." My heart thudded in my chest hearing that.
The two witches left their post and I could see Sophie turn. She nodded her head and stepped back. My breath caught in my throat seeing Nik turn the corner.
His eyes met mine and he quickly strode over to me. He grabbed me into an embrace. He held onto me tightly. I did the same to him. He pulled away enough and cupped my face in his hands.
"Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" He asked and scanned my body with his eyes for any injuries.
I shook my head and grabbed his hands with mine. I removed them off my face, "No, they didn't. Nik...I'm about to tell you something that shouldn't have been possible. I need you to hear me out and don't shut me out or push me away." Nik gave me a look of concern.
"What are you talking about, love? I was serious when I told you I would never push you away again. Never is a very long time for a vampire." Nik assured me.
"You might want to sit down then." Nik shook his head.
"Allye, just tell me. What is going on?" He demanded with a stricter tone.
"I'm pregnant with our baby." Nik's face became void of any emotion. He took a step back and sat down on the bench in the crypt.
"That's impossible. Vampires cannot procreate." Nik said in disbelief and shook his head.
"Think about it, Nik. The moment I became an Original Werewolf and we slept together is when I conceived this baby. The alcohol thing you were so worried about. Turns out that's common to pregnant werewolves. It's their bodies protecting the baby while it grows. The witches did a spell to confirm it with your DNA and mine and the spell worked. It shouldn't be possible but it is. The moment I became an Original Werewolf is the moment a loophole was created to make the impossible possible." Nik looked up at me. I could see the confusion and fear in his eyes.
"I'm scared too, Nik. In fact, I'm terrified. I'm scared of how you'll react, that if you'll believe me, and most of all I'm scared for this baby. This baby is going to inherit every enemy that we have ever made. I can't do this without you, Nik." I begged at the end. My lip began to quiver from fear.
Nik swallowed hard before he hastily stood back up. He said nothing as he took a step closer. He made eye contact with me before his gaze trailed down to my stomach.
His breath hitched in his throat as he stared at it. He hesitantly lifted his hand towards my stomach. He froze right before touching me. I slowly grabbed his hand and placed it on my stomach.
He let out a ragged breath and focused on his hand on my stomach. I said nothing, knowing he was still processing everything through his mind.
"I can hear it." He said barely just above a whisper.
"Hear what?" I asked softly. Nik turned his gaze back up to my eyes.
"I can hear its heart beat." Nik clarified. Nik moved his thumb in a stroking motion on my stomach.
A smile began to make its way on his face, "Here I thought, I could never give you the one thing that you dreamed about. We'll have to thank Callista a second time." Nik said and focused his eyes on mine again.
They had a light to them now. Something I had never seen in them before.
"You're taking this better than I expected." I said warily. I was expecting some screaming or shouting but I didn't get any of that.
Nik took his hand off my stomach and placed both hands on my shoulders.
"It's safe for me to say that I know you very well, love. I know that you are not a liar, you are not disloyal, and you're certainly not Hayley." He added at the end. I couldn't help but laugh at the last bit.
"Thank goodness for that." I said sarcastically. Nik gave me his signature dimple smile and tucked my dark hair behind my left ear.
"There she is. This is the Allye I know and love. I'm scared as well for what's to come, but we'll get through it. Together." Nik assured me and gingerly kissed me on my forehead.
I nodded and turned to the outside of the crypt. "We're done." I announced.
I could see Sophie come around the corner with Elijah and Derek and Cora behind him.
"Oh my god, Al!" Cora shouted and ran for me. She opened her arms as she got closer to me.
I welcomed my sister's embrace and sighed in relief. I felt two more arms wrap around us. I used one hand to grab Derek's arm. I already knew it was him.
"I'm so happy to see you guys." I said out of relief.
"We are too. Elijah told us everything...is it true? Are you..?" Cora trailed off.
I smiled and nodded. A grin broke out on Cora's face. "I'm going to be an aunt!" She said excitedly and pulled me into another hug.
I chuckled and patted Cora's head. I had a feeling she would be the most ecstatic out of everyone.
"So what the hell do they want with you then?" Derek asked and glared at Sophie's direction.
"That is the exact question I was about to ask." Nik added and gave a dangerous look to Sophie.
"They want your help, Niklaus, to take down Marcel." Elijah answered.
"You witnessed the show yourself, Klaus. Vampires run this town and force the witches into hiding. Marcel needs to be stopped and you're the only one that can do it." Sophie reiterated.
"And what's stopping me from declining your offer, killing you, and taking my mate away from here?" Nik threatened.
I let a smirk grow on my face and Sophie saw it, "Don't! You dare do that again." She warned me.
I gave an amused smile and held my hands up. Sophie undid her bandage on her hand and showed Nik.
"See this? Allye gave me this by cutting her own palm. Elijah witnessed it himself. You kill me, then you'll kill your mate and child. We're linked. The spell Jane-Anne did wasn't to just confirm the pregnancy but also to link Allye to me. We can keep her safe or we can kill her along with the baby. It's your choice." I could feel anger radiate off of everyone in the room right now. Derek and Cora were already in front of me. Their eyes glowing their respective colors from their anger.
"Fine. It's not like I have much of a choice." Nik turned around and grabbed my hand.
"Not so fast, Klaus. There are rules you have to follow." Nik stopped dead in his tracks. He turned his head to look over his shoulder. If looks could kill right now.
"Exactly, what rules are there?" Nik asked dangerously.
"Allye cannot go into the Quarter. They'll find out she's a wolf and will have her killed before you can blink. She needs to be watched over by the witches at all times and she cannot leave the cemetery." I snapped my head over to Sophie.
"Seriously? I'm not spending months at a time in this creep cemetery. I've been here long enough. I'd like to sleep on an actual bed!" I yelled at her.
"How about we strike a deal?" Elijah spoke up.
Sophie crossed her arms, "I'm listening."
"You want your sister's body back to put her properly at rest, correct?" Sophie nodded, "I will get your sister's body back from Marcel and in return you will let Allye leave the cemetery and stay somewhere far more suitable for a mother to be." Elijah offered.
"Deal, but Allye stays here until you bring my sister's body back." Sophie argued.
"We'll be back shortly then. Elijah, let's talk about a plan shall we?" Nik told his brother.
"We'll stay here. I don't trust these witches for one second." Derek said and eyed Sophie. Cora nodded in agreement.
Nik turned to me, "I'll be back soon, love. Hang on for a little longer." He said quietly. He kissed my forehead and walked out of the crypt with Elijah.
No One's P.O.V
"Marcel won't hand over the body of Jane-Anne by simply asking. He's keeping it as a bargaining chip for the witches I assume." Elijah said.
Elijah and Klaus were standing in the empty square of the quarter. They were currently discussing a plan to get back the body of Jane-Anne Deveraux for the witches to release Allye to them.
"Well we need to think of something, brother. Marcel hasn't trusted me since the moment I walked into town. Even less now that he knows you are here as well. We make him and his vampire lackey's nervous." Klaus pointed out.
"Then we need a way for you to earn some of Marcel's trust." Elijah pondered.
"I'm all ears, brother. The sooner we get this body the sooner Allye can be with me where she belongs." Klaus said impatiently.
"Speaking of Allye. You haven't mentioned how you feel about all of this." Elijah commented. He casually walked behind a park bench and leaned a hand against the back of it.
"Elijah, we do not have time for this." Klaus brushes off Elijah's question. Klaus turned to walk away.
"Niklaus." Klaus stopped, "We may have had our differences over the centuries but you are still my brother. The brother I once knew is coming back to the surface. I have Allye to thank for that and now this child, your child, is our chance." Klaus fully turned back to Elijah.
"To what?" Klaus asked.
"To start over. Take back everything we lost, everything that was taken from us. Niklaus, our own parents came to despise us. Our family was ruined; we were ruined. Since then, all you have ever wanted; all that we have ever wanted was a family." Elijah finished speaking.
Klaus' gaze turned to the floor in thought, "Do you not think that I already thought of that, brother?" Klaus said quietly and looked up to his brother, "That's what scares me." Elijah furrowed his brows in confusion.
Realization started to hit Elijah, "Niklaus, you are not our father. If that is what you fear then it is highly misguided. You are nothing like Mikael. Allye is going to be a wonderful mother albeit a very protective one." Klaus let out a small smile and chuckled, "And you brother, are going to be an amazing father that your child will look up to." Elijah assured his brother.
Klaus swallowed and nodded, "Thank you, Elijah." Elijah smiled. His brother really was coming back.
"As for our current predicament. I believe I have a solution that will not only gain your trust in Marcel but also get Jane-Anne Deveraux's body." Klaus furrowed his brows.
"I know you still have our coffins and the daggers. Present me as a peace offering to Marcel." Klaus was taken aback hearing his brother's words.
"You want me to dagger you? Willingly?" Klaus asked, making sure he heard Elijah correctly.
"You said it yourself. Marcel and his vampires are nervous that two Originals have suddenly shown up in New Orleans. Handing over me will put you in his good graces and get Allye out of the hands of the witches. I do not trust the witches just as much as you do, brother. Allye may not die but the child will. This is the only way." Elijah explained further.
"Very well brother." Klaus agreed.
Allye's P.O.V
Other witches had shown up by now. I stood in the corner of the crypt with Derek and Cora next to me. We didn't trust these witches for a second. They were currently openly discussing that this plan was a bad one. That this was an un-holy alliance that wouldn't work. Sounds like Jane-Anne was desperate and so was Sophie. For what, I'm not sure.
"This plan will never work, Sophie." The witch I found to be named Agnes stated.
"This is all we have. We don't have any other options. Klaus already agreed to help take Marcel down. We just need to make sure he keeps his end of the deal." Sophie advised.
"And you better hold up to yours Sophie Deveraux." I turned my head hearing Nik's voice. He came walking into the crypt with Jane-Anne's body wrapped in a cloth. Where's Elijah? He's not with him.
Nik leaned down and laid the body against the ground before standing back up. The other witches kneeled down where Jane-Anne's body was placed.
"Now for you to hold up your end of the deal. Allye is to come with me and stay at a designated safe house. Away from the Quarter." Nik demanded and gave a hard stare to Sophie.
Sophie nodded and looked at me, "You can go." I walked away from the wall and towards Nik. He held his hand out to me and I took it in mine. He led me out of the cemetery with Derek and Cora right behind us.
I walked into the master bedroom suite of an old Plantation home. The place was just as huge as Nik's Mansion back in Mystic Falls.
"I hope you like it." I heard Nik's voice from behind me.
"It's big alright. Don't know how I feel living in a Plantation home though." I said as I walked around the large king size bed.
"This use to be the Governor's home in the early 19th century. We were his welcomed guests back then." Nik said and slowly walked forward with his hands behind him.
"Did he know…?" I trailed off.
Nik chuckled, "That we were vampires? Yes. We had a mutual understanding with the governor. He would turn a blind eye to the missing people and we would help in political matters." Nik answered and stopped at the foot of the bed.
"Never took you as a politician." I teased and caused Nik to smile.
"It's good to have you back , love." Nik remarked.
"It's good to be out of that cemetery. I'm going to take a shower and go to bed. Meanwhile, you need to tell me what happened to Elijah. He left with you and you came back without him." I said as I walked into the master bath.
"I'll tell you in the morning. You need to get some proper sleep tonight. You're growing another life, your body needs all the rest it can get." Nik advised. He followed me to the master bath and leaned against the door frame.
"Something tells me I'll be getting plenty of rest being stuck in this house. Which reminds me, wifi, cable, and air conditioning. Everything that this house doesn't have because it's old, needs to be installed. If I'm going to be trapped here for months then I'm going to need to be comfortable." I said as I crossed my arms and walked towards Nik.
"I'll have that done tomorrow then." I smiled and leaned towards him.
"Good." I gave him a kiss on the lips that he deepened before pulling away.
"Get ready for bed, love. I'll be joining you soon." Nik said softly and cupped my cheek with his hand. He gave me one last kiss on my forehead before pulling away and leaving the bedroom.
There we have it! First chapter of ANO! Klaus took the news much than Allye expected. He kept his promise that he wouldn't push her away again. He accepts the pregnancy much better. And Elijah offers himself for Marcel in order to get the body of Jane-Anne to get back Allye from the witches. Something Klaus never expected his brother offer.
