FATE/Interloper
-First Ascension: Grand Order-
Fuyuki City. Human Foundation Level: C
My head hurts...
I open my eyes and the first thing that greets me is a reddish sky... and a throbbing headache. As my eyes adjust, the first thing I see is the orange hue in the sky along with smoke. I try to move but my body feels like it is encased in cement. Nevertheless I manage to pick myself up as I get a look at my surroundings.
It looks like I am in a city of some kind, but it has been completely destroyed. It is almost completely engulfed in flames but there was something wrong. These flames... they aren't normal. They are destroying everything they touch in an instant, erasing everything in sight while camouflaging it as wild fire.
"What… is this? This is wrong, its so wron- Gah!" I wince from the pounding headache I'm feeling. "What's... going on?"
[What was the last thing you remembered?]
I try to recollect my thoughts, but all get is a total blank. "Nothing… I can't remember anything."
[It seems that there is some information has been corrupted, and has become inaccessible]
"Can you repair it?" I asked.
[I can attempt a data recovery by accessing the interface but I need an external power source. There is a ley line a few kilometers from where we are. You should go there and investigate]
I stand up and turn to the direction of the ley line and begin to walk there. As I walk, I notice that there are no humans in sight living or otherwise. It's like the city has been completely abandoned.
[The mana density here is completely off the charts, no human could survive here. It's as if we are in the Age of Gods]
"Kya!"
I turn to where the scream came from.
[It seems like it came from a bit further ahead]
I rush towards the source and see a woman being attacked by a group of monsters. She has white hair dropping by her shoulders which braided on the side and has amber-colored eyes. She is wearing what looks like a black jacket mixed with an orange vest and a white dress underneath as well as a brown pantyhose and black heels.
"Wh-what the hell is going on!? Why are these things coming after me!?" She screams out. She chants a couple of spells to reduce their numbers but they're not very effective. "Lev, save me! Please!"
[Based on her mana source, she is a Magus and one with high-quality Magic Circuits albeit they're somewhat off. However, it seems these monsters are too tough for her to handle]
"She likely has some information on our current situation. Our objective is clear." I jump in and land between the magus and the skeletons.
"Wh-who are you!?" The woman demands.
I give her a brief glance before turning back to my opponents. I raise my hand and close my eyes, tremendous magical energy begins to surround my body. "I think, therefore I am…"
Freak killer
A massive pistol manifests in my hand. It is silver with a golden ejector on the right side. The words "Hellsing ARMS .454 Casull" are engraved on it.
[Noble Phantasm deployed. Type: Anti-Unit]
I take aim at the skeletons, "begone." I pull the trigger and the gun fires. The bullet makes contact with the skeleton and is instantly blown apart by the sheer force alone. I keep shooting and kill more monsters until there are none left. "Enemies destroyed." The pistol disappears into motes of light from my hand.
I turn around to the young woman staring blankly at the scene in front of her.
I extend my hand to her. "Are you alright?"
The woman blinks a couple of times before looking up at me before swatting my hand away. "Who the hell are you!? What was that magic!?"
I open my mouth to say something but another voice cuts in.
"Director Olga-Marie!"
The two of us see two figures running towards us. The first one is a young woman with short lilac hair, lavender eyes and fair skin. Her figure is fairly athletic that would rile other women with jealousy. She is wearing an outfit that leaves very little to the imagination: a skin-tight black and purple armor that resembles an extremely short mini-dress that exposes her butt, emphasizes her breasts, and reveals her panties. There is a hole that exposes her stomach area. She also wears black gauntlets and boots, a garter on her right thigh, and a large cross-shaped shield.
Next to her is a girl slightly shorter than the other. She has shoulder-length red hair tied in a side-ponytail on the left side with a usually yellow hair band and a cowlick, and light orange eyes. She is wearing some kind of uniform consisting of a white jacket with belts strapped on that emphasizes her figure and bust along with a black skirt and pantyhose and white boots. On her shoulder is some kind of white squirrel-like creature - a cute little animal - with a white scarf tied around it.
They are both… very cute and attractive.
[Analysis Complete]
Name: Ritsuka Fujimaru
Title: 48th Master Candidate of Chaldea
Status: Alive
Thoughts about you: weary
Servant Shielder
True Name: Mash Kyrielight
Strength: C
Endurance: A
Agility: D
Mana: B
Luck: C
NP: ?
Description: A human fused with a Heroic Spirit: a Demi-Servant. She is a Designer Baby created to be the prime vessel of a Heroic Spirit. The binding process was successful but the Heroic Spirit never awakened within her, however, her body was altered to be equivalent to that of a Servant. To save her life, the Heroic Spirit sacrificed itself leaving her with their Noble Phantasm but was never told what its name was before they disappeared.
However, I notice something extra in her profile.
Servant Shielder
True Name: Galahad
Description: The Knight of Heaven, he is known for his escapades in the search for the Holy Grail alongside Percival and Bors. He is the son of Lancelot and a knight of the Round Table. He was admired as the perfect knight, the young boy who would shoulder the next generation of the Round Table. He was a "saint who was the only one to obtain the Holy Grail, just to return it to heavens."
'Interesting. This girl's soul has merged with a knight of the Round Table and it's the Knight of Heaven no less.' I mused. Galahad was considered a saint among the knights, his selflessness and good heart could move the people around him. His desire to protect the innocent was something to take note of, though Merlin found these traits very disturbing.
"Mashu!?" The woman, Olga Marie, exclaims. "What in the world is going on here!?"
Mashu and the other girl notice the remains of the skeletons on the ground. "You've already taken care of them?"
"No, I couldn't make a dent even with my strongest spells." Olga Marie glances at me. "If he hadn't appeared, they would have surely killed me."
Mashu turns to me and bows. "Thank you for saving the director, I am Mashu Kyrielight." She gives me a sunny smile that can probably warm anyone's heart.
"My name is Ritsuka Fujimaru. It's nice to meet you." The creature leans on her cheek. "And this little guy is Fou."
"Fou." Fou barks and gives me a paw shake.
My eyes widen a little. 'What is HE doing here!?'
I nod. "Nice to meet you all."
Meanwhile, Olga Marie stares at Mashu and blinks a few times, noticing her appearance.
Mashu notices this and stiffens. "Chief," The Demi-Servant immediately tries to explain. "The thing is I-"
"You merged with a Servant, I know." Marie immediately cuts her off and looks at the girl. "You! Why the hell did you become her Master?!
"What?" Looking at Olga Marie, Ritsuka looks surprised.
[Her attitude just went a whole 180, impressive]
"Why did you agree to her demands!?" Olga Marie demands, she looks like she is about to scold the poor girl. "Do you at least understand what you now doomed yourself to!?"
"No, chief, you got it wrong!" The carrier of the shield tries to defend her. "I forced senpai to become my Master — she tried to dissuade me!"
"What did you say?" Olga Marie asked, looking angry.
"I'll explain what happened. That way we can understand each other's situation better." Mashu said.
She began to explain what happened. Apparently the three of them are part of a security organization called Chaldea and Olga Marie is its director. Ritsuka was in her room when the lights went out, and then she and the head doctor found the command center destroyed by an explosion. Ritsuka rushes to the command center in hopes of finding any survivors, much to the displeasure of the doctor. She finds Mashu in the wreckage with her lower body trapped under a pillar. Ritsuka tried to remove the pillar but it was too heavy, then the security protocols activated locking them inside. They were about to die but then they were both dragged into a Rayshift and were teleported to this place.
Olga Marie then explains how one moment she was giving a lecture, then there was a bright flash and the next thing she knew she was here, trying to stay alive.
[An entire organization dedicated to preserving the future of humanity. They're like the Counter Force in a way]
I hum in agreement.
"...so that's what happened." Olga Marie then looks at me. "What about you? You aren't from Chaldea, I would have recognized you otherwise."
"I'm afraid I am just as much in the dark as you three. My memories only seem to go as far back as when I first awakened." I explained. "Be that as it may, I can feel a sort of attachment to this city... like I've been here before..."
"Tch, you're useless!" Olga Marie snaps. "And just when I thought I finally had a lead!"
I merely stare at her confused. Did I say something to upset her?
Mashu composes herself and clears her throat. "A-Anyways, we couldn't find any other Master candidate who shifted with us. You two are the only humans we've run into." Mashu states. "But that gives me hope. If you're here, then that means there must be other candidates who got teleported here."
"There's no one besides us." Olga Maria bluntly states, quickly deflating Mashu's hopes. "I hate to admit it, but I know why we were shifted to Fuyuki."
Mashu's eyes widened. "So you know why we survived?"
"All of us share a common denominator. Neither me, you, nor Ritsuka were actually inside the Coffins. Though Rayshifting without a Coffin isn't impossible, the chances of succeeding are very low." Olga Marie explains. "The Coffins have breakers. When the power is over 95%, the power's cut off. So they never actually Rayshifted. We're the only ones here."
"But what about him?" Ritsuka points to me. "You said he wasn't part of the group in the Command Center."
"Even I'm having a hard time understanding that myself." Olga Marie admits. "He wasn't in Chaldea at the time, and he doesn't feel like a Heroic Spirit either so that's out of the list."
"Then… What is he?" Mashu asked.
"An interloper." Olga Marie harshly states. "Someone who shouldn't exist because they don't belong here."
The three girls stare at me, and I tilt my head in confusion.
"Whatever, he's here now so he might as well be useful to us." With sigh, Olga Marie shakes her head. "Ritsuka Fujimura, since it's an emergency I'll approve of your contract with Mashu. From here on out, both of you will be under my command! And my first order is the arrangement of a base camp. We need to establish contact with headquarters and to do that we need to search for a Ley line Terminal, a place where magical energy converges."
"About that…" After these few words Mashu glances at Ritsuka, who just shrugs.
"What?" Olga Marie asks.
"The ley line…"
"You're standing on it." I finished.
"Huh?" Uncomprehendingly she responded. "I… I knew that, I knew that of course!"
[I will start the data recovery now, as well as access this timeline's Records. Hopefully, there will be something that will enlighten us about our predicament]
Olga Marie took a step aside, then commanded, trying to recover from her mistake. "Mashu, place your shield on the ground. I'm going to set up a summoning circle, with your Noble Phantasm as a catalyst."
"Senpai?" Mashu turned to Ritsuka, to which she only affirmatively shakes her head. "Okay…"
The spell circle is instantly drawn on the floor, after which Olga takes a step towards it, stretching out her arms.
"Hello, Hello? Okay, connection established!" Rang out a voice from the drawn circle in a couple of seconds.
"Romani!?" The shout of the chief spreads throughout the area. "Why are you running the show, Romani!? What about Lev!? Where's Lev!? Put Lev on!"
"Wahhhhhhh!" Romani screams out. "C-Chief, you're alive!? And you're unharmed!? But you were in the center of that explosion!"
"?" I said.
"What the hell does that mean!? Where's Lev? What's the head medic doing in charge!?" Olga Marie demands.
[Is this how she always acts towards her subordinates? And who is this Lev she keeps asking about?]
"Believe me, I'm fully aware I'm not cut out for this job but there's nobody else left." Romani admits. "Including me, less than 20 people from all of Chaldea survived. Doctor Lev was supervising from the Command Room. There's no way he could have survived the blast."
"N-No…" Olga Marie's eyes fill with tears. "Lev, he - no wait, forget that, wait… please wait." The director composes herself and wipes her tears. "Less than 20 survivors? What about the Master candidates, the Coffins?"
Romani sighs. "...47, all in critical condition and we're short on medical supplies." He states somberly. "We might be able to save a few, but all of them might be-"
"Don't be ridiculous!" Olga Marie yells. "Cryopreserve them immediately! Think about reviving them later. Your top priority is to make sure they don't die!"
"I forgot the Coffins had those functions! I'll get to it right away!" Romani states.
"But chief, cryopreservation without prior consent is a crime." Mashu warns but then a smile forms on her face. "Yet you made the decision right away. You put human lives ahead of your own reputation as a director."
"Don't be stupid! As long as they're not dead, I can explain myself later! Why else would I give that order!? Besides, I wouldn't be able to handle the fact that I let 47 people die on my watch!" Olga Marie's answer was quick and certain. "If only Lev was here…"
"Chaldea has lost 80% of its functionality. There's only so much the remaining staff can do." Romani continues with his report. "I'm shifting available manpower to Rayshift repairs, and maintaining CHALDEAS and SHEBA. As soon as external communications are back up, we'll request supplies and start rebuilding Chaldea."
"That's fine. I would have done the same if I were there." Olga Marie said, though a bit disheartened.
After a moment of silence, Roman tried to say it as gently as possible ."Chief, we will build everything back and pull you out of this. Don't worry..."
"Do not reassure me as if I am hysterical, of course we will rebuild everything!" On the contrary of what is implied, the girl shouted into the air. Romani Archaman, as much as I don't like this, I am putting you in charge of Chaldea until I return. Make the Rayshift repairs your top priority. We'll be investigating this town: the Singularity F!"
Romani's eyes widened. "Wait, wait, wait, you want to venture into ground zero? Since when did you become so brave?"
"Seriously, you just don't know when to shut up." Olga Marie grumbles. "I'd like nothing more than to go back now, but it'll be some time until you finish the Rayshift repairs. Besides, this town only contains low-level monsters, with Mashu as a Demi-Servant we'll be safe." She gives the doctor a stern look. "I'll be looking into Singularity F with Ritsuka and Mashu Kyrielight as investigators. Our goal is to find the cause of this Singularity and the cause of humanity's abnormal disappearance."
"Roger that. Good luck on your end, director." With that, Romani disconnects.
"Shouldn't we just wait until rescue arrives? I doubt we'll get attacked here." Ritsuka suggests.
"I can't afford to do that. After we return to Chaldea, who knows how long it'll take to select another team." Olga Marie begins to bite her nail. "A month wouldn't be enough to gather the personnel or the funds, the Mage Association will chew me out for sure. I could even lose my leadership of Chaldea to them. If that happens, I'll be toast. I can't go back empty-handed. I need something that will shut them up!"
"Hey, hey, calm down. It's going to be okay." I assured the anxious director.
Olga Marie calms down. "Yeah… sorry looks like you three will be stuck with me."
"That's cool, this isn't my first time dealing with anomalies like this." I said.
"By the way," Olga Marie looks at me. "I just realized I never got your name. Wait, do you even remember your name?"
"I... believe I remember my name... or something that I can use to identify myself as." I extend my hand. "My name is Frank, nice to meet you."
Olga Marie shakes my hand. "Now let's solve the cause of this twisted history."
Noble Phantasms used:
Hellsing ARMS .454 Casull Auto (C+) Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm
Also referred to as simply the Casull, it is a very powerful handgun that fires custom-made explosive .454 Casull rounds, with the steel bullets bearing a core made from the melted silver Christian cross from Manchester Cathedral. They are used in a six round single-stack magazine.
The Casull is a semi-automatic magnum pistol, based on two pre-WW1 handgun designs by Colt: the M1903 and M1905 pistols (the early versions of the M1911). The gun weighs approximately 6 kg unloaded and has a magazine capacity of six .454 Casull cartridges. Its appearance is also similar to the AMT Automag III.
When paired together with the Jackal, the wielder is capable of dealing massive damage to a large horde of enemies, leaving them either dead or lethally wounded so that they'll suffer slowly as they die; a callout to the original owner's extreme cruelty as they preferred seeing their opponents completely disabled and humiliated before putting them out of their misery.
The Fuyuki Singularity is the first Singularity detected by Chaldea during the Human Order Incineration Incident in Fate/Grand Order. Codenamed Singularity F, it is located in A.D. 2004.
A Designer Baby is a child created with artificially modified DNA. With this it is possible even for parents who have completely normal genetics to bear a child who possesses magic circuits. They are similar to a homunculus. Shinji Matou, Julius B. Harwey and Mash Kyrielight are all designer babies.
The Simulated Global Environment Model "CHALDEAS" was completed in 1990 A.D. Utilizing the soul of the World as a foundation and basis, the system manifests in miniature a perfectly accurate replica of the planetary body of Earth, permitting a representation of the World's status both in past and future eras. However, detailed observation of specific time-space locales is impossible without the assistance of SHEBA.
Although it was already built in 1990, the reality is that CHALDEAS was incomplete. It was built and established as a model of the Earth to convince the sponsors, but it was far from its original function. Although the theory is complete, CHALDEAS lacked the crucial "fuel" for operation. In order to make CHALDEAS spin, they need the output of a power plant that is able to supply an entire country for about half a year. Even with the combination of an oil platform Seraphix and a French nuclear reactor weren't able to keep it running.
It is a body of high density Spiritrons and a territory of another dimension. It is the same as the sun and black hole. If it is touched directly by humans, they will be decomposed to the molecular level and disappear.
The Near-Future Observation Lens "SHEBA" was invented by Lev Lainur and was completed in 1999 A.D.
SHEBA is a mechanism designed to permit the detailed observation of information represented within CHALDEAS' planetary projection, similar in concept to an environmental observation satellite placed in Earth orbit. In lieu of a closed-circuit camera system, SHEBA also serves as an integral component to Chaldeas' security, outputting to monitors any occurrences within the research facility's environs in real-time. The system, however, is ultimately accurate only for the observation of the Common Era; for eras further in the past, accuracy rapidly declines, and mana and electricity demands climb to unmanageable levels. As of the collapse of the Human Order Foundation, the future formerly observed by SHEBA vanished, and there appeared an "unobservable locale"; the Fuyuki City of 2004 A.D, also known as "Singularity F".
Author Notes
EDIT: 8/16/2022
I decided to edit every chapter in this story. Someone brought up a good point in the comments that the MC was too human and that he should be more inhuman due to his nature, so if you notice any changes dialog its because of that. Somethings will be different and I apologies if you do not like these changes.
So by all means, speak up! Every bit of feedback counts! Truly, it does! Be constructive about it! Don't just tell me you don't like it, give me an explanation why you don't like it. It really helps to edit and get things in order.
Peace~
