I wanna start off by letting the people who read these notes, that while I hadn't touch RWBY in any form of media (Other than the official series.) since 2020 which doesn't seem that far at first.
Now put yourself in my shoes in 2022 craving some Ruby x Harem fanfics, remembering that there used to be some great ones, only to discover that most of those great ones have been deleted! I was shocked.
Then I remembered that in 2020 I tried to start my very own fanfiction which didn't amount to much in the end. Naturally, my Ruby harem mind started thinking. "well why don't you try again?" which leads us to now.
I'm not some professional writer or a remotely good fanfic writer in the slightest. There are many great writers on both and Archive of our own (ao3) and I wish that one of those greats could one day satisfy my craving.
Until then, whoever decides to follow this story because of the same craving is stuck with me.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
The Sun was setting on the horizon of the island of Patch as a bell announced what many students were excited for: the end of the school year. For Yang Xiao Long, however, it also meant that her last day at Signal Academy was officially over. While many were eager to pack and leave, she could have been seen staring at her empty locker longingly as she hoisted her bag over her shoulder. With a deep sigh, the blond shut the door and let her hand linger on its cold surface, her eyes closed while she seemed to focus on something else.
She could remember her first day at school when her sister had taken her classmates out for a tour before ending right here.
"...and here are your lockers for the next 5 years." said Ruby Rose, sister extraordinaire, as she softly tapped the metallic door with her knuckles. "Any questions?"
One of Yang's friends had raised their hand. "Are you single?"
This had resulted in a swift jab to their ribs from the blond, which prompted the others to chuckle. The raven-haired woman joined in before answering.
"I am, but I think you should be more worried about your performance in class before focusing on such things." She had answered with a gentle smile which had the onlookers a bit flustered.
With a chuckle of her own, the brawler let go of her locker and slowly walked down the now almost empty hall towards the exit. On her way, she glanced at a specific classroom door, which held another fond memory for her.
"So, how was my lil' sis' first day at Signal?" Asked the melodic voice of her sister, who was leaning next to the door to her class.
Yang jumped, surprised at the sudden appearance of the raven red-tipped-haired girl.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, flustered at the increasing amount of gazes that were directed towards them as she started to push the taller girl away.
Not resisting in the slightest, the older sibling simply laughed. "Aww, come on, Yang. I just wanted to see how you were faring."
The younger sister gave her an annoyed look before sighing. "Ruby, this is the first class of the day, and it wasn't even a new subject."
"Fine, then I guess I'll just have to ask you after every class then." She replied, a teasing grin on her face as she softly pinched the brawler's cheeks.
"Would you stop that!" Exclaimed Yang, her recently assaulted cheeks not showing any kind of injury with how careful the older girl had been.
"What's wrong? You said you loved it when I did that to you at home?" Ruby asked with concern in her voice.
A group of students chuckled as they walked by, seeing the commotion as a simple quarrel between sisters. Yang, however, thought that they were laughing at her, which prompted her to glare at her sibling.
"We're at school now, okay? You can't just do whatever you want because I'm your sister!" She growled harshly.
Ruby had a saddened but understanding look on her face as she raised her hands in surrender. "Alright, I understand." She leaned in and planted a kiss on the blond's forehead, which she didn't have the heart to refuse. "I'll see you after school, okay?"
She was about to leave when Yang decided to stop her. "Wait!" She had exclaimed.
The raven-haired girl didn't say anything, but the soft and caring look on her face told the blond that she was listening as she always would be.
"I... don't mind if we eat together for lunch." She mumbled with a slight blush on her face.
The older girl placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I'd like that my little sunnyside up."
They both hugged each other. The younger girl not bothered to reprimand her sister for the nickname.
Yang felt her eyes moisten as she shook her head. "Things were so simple back then." She thought before resuming her walk.
As she reached the school's entrance, she noticed her friends who had been waiting at the gates, engaged in a heated discussion. One of them noticed her and waved.
"Hey, Yang!" She shouted, attracting the attention of the surrounding students.
"Y'know, I could've gone without you screaming since I was gonna talk to you guys anyway." Answered the brawler as she reached them.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." She replied dismissively. "So that gang and I were thinking."
"Well, that's never a good sign." Interrupted the blond jokingly.
Her friends sent her a playful glare. "We take offense to that. Anyway, we were thinking about celebrating our upcoming graduation."
"Isn't that what the ceremony is for?" She asked.
"Yeah, but that's in a week! Plus, everyone knows that graduation ceremonies are boring." Answered another friend.
She sighed. "So, what did you guys have in mind?"
They grinned. "Well, we're all eighteen now, so we thought..."
"You guys want to go to a club in Vale, is that it?"
"Yeah! I mean, come on! We've barely hung out outside of school these past few years. Might as well make the last one count before you leave for Beacon!" Exclaimed one of them.
"Congrats on that again, by the way." Said another which the others replicated.
"Fine, I'm in. Where were you thinking?" Asked the blond, readjusting her bag on her shoulder.
"I heard that Junior's was a good one." Said the girl from earlier while looking at her Scroll.
Yang stiffened at the name. "Uh, anywhere else?" She asked with a cold sweat running down her back.
They all raised their heads to look at her curiously. "Oh, uh, we thought that you'd be fine with Junior's, so we already booked a reservation since it's always packed."
"Let's just say that I'm not very welcomed back there anytime soon..." she awkwardly said while scratching the back of her head.
Before they could ask, Yang started to nervously power walk towards the parking lot. "Besides, I got a lot of stuff to prepare for Beacon and the ceremony. We can always hang out another time. You guys have fun though!"
However, before she could get far enough, one of her friends asked her; "Hey, you think your sister is gonna be there for your graduation?"
This made Yang freeze in place. Her sister had always been a sensitive topic and now the whole schoolyard was looking at her, having overheard the question.
"Ruby Rose? At our graduation ceremony?"
"I would have chosen another dress if I knew she was going to be there!"
"Maybe I should go. Gonna have to cancel some plans, but to see Ruby Rose in person? Who would pass that up?"
Seeing the commotion they had caused, her friends gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry, it's just that it's been almost a year since she's been on the news, so we thought she might have been coming back to Patch."
Yang fished out the pendant she had been wearing for years from between her breast and gazed at it before shoving it back in.
"Look, I know as much as you guys do okay?" She hurriedly said before going towards her dad's car she had spotted earlier.
She sat in the passenger seat and plugged her headphones in her Scroll before laying back and closing her eyes. Whenever she would get worked up over matters concerning her sister, she would listen to one specific songs out of the many that the older sibling had recorded for her before leaving, since it always calmed her down.
~You are my sunshine~
My only sunshine
You make me happy,
when skies are gray.
You'll never know dear,
how much I love you.
please don't take
~My sunshine away~
The sound of the driver's door opening and closing brought her out of out her trance. Her dad, Taiyang Xiao Long, had comfortably sat himself in the driver seat before glancing at her. His eyes flicked towards her headphones that she was taking off, before turning on the engine.
"They asked me the same thing." He said with a sigh. He then gently grabbed her shoulder. "Are you doing okay?"
The blond sniffed, suppressing tears that she hadn't even felt coming. "I know she's fine and that she's gonna come back one day," She started not meeting her father's gaze. "but why does it still hurt so much?"
By then, a couple of tears had been falling from her eyes. Taiyang swiftly took her in a one-armed hug before resting his head on top of hers.
"I know. I miss her too." He gently said. "How about we go back home hmm?"
His only answer was a nod from his youngest daughter. He looked to the sky with a sad smile.
"Wherever you are Ruby, I hope you're doing fine and that you'll come back home soon. I don't think our little dragon can take much more." He thought before a sad chuckle escaped him. "Neither can I to be honest."
Without another word, both Xiao Long left for their home in a comfortable silence.
That night, on the outskirt of the kingdom of Vale, an Atlesian bullhead arrived at a commercial landing zone. As soon as the aircraft landed, the backdoor slowly lowered to reveal two figures exiting, one faster than the other.
"I still believe we should have used my personal airship." Said one of the two who was sporting a white military uniform.
"And I keep telling you that a specialist's aircraft would only bring the wrong kind of attention." Said the other one who was wrapped in some kind of red drape.
While the white one marched in a calculative and strict manner, the red one was the definition of beauty and elegance. Even with her body covered, she managed to get the few onlookers to stop and stare at her hidden figure.
They both glanced at soldiers who came out of the aircraft behind them as they formed a pathway for the two women. A quick look around them made it obvious that their presence was making the locals nervous.
The red figure smoothly waved a hand dismissively. "Charming, but you boys don't need to do all that spectacle just for us. specialist Schnee and I will be perfectly fine on our own."
They hesitated momentarily, but a swift nod from the specialist told them all they needed to know. They saluted both women before heading back inside the bullhead.
"You know that they weren't necessary for the trip right? I doubt there was much we couldn't have handled between us two on our way here." Sighed the drapped figure.
"No offense miss Rose, but considering the month of recovery you just went through, I would rather not take any chances." Replied the Schnee putting emphasis on the word 'month'.
Before the woman, revealed to be Ruby Rose, could answer, panicked screams distracted them both as a lone beowolf was chasing after whomever was unfortunate enough to be at the edge of the landing zone.
The soldiers inside the bullhead were about to stand up, but were quickly interrupted by the raised hand from the Specialist.
"It's rare to see a beowolf hunt alone. Must have been smart enough to flee from this town's huntsmen." Remarked Ruby. She then extended a hand towards the white dressed woman's hips where a pistol was holstered. "May I?"
With a slight scowl, the Scheen handed the weapon to the raven-haired woman. She gave her thanks before shooting three times towards the grimm. The impact of the first two bullets forced the creature's head upwards while the last one penetrated from beneath it's jaw straight towards its brain, killing it instantly.
Ruby gave the pistol back to its owner with a satisfied smile. "I think it's safe to say that I recovered quite well, don't you think Winter dearest?" She then unwrapped herself from her drape making every spectators blush at the reveal of her figure.
Standing at around six feet tall, she kept the drape wrapped around her arms, the fabric cascading behind her like a cape that still left her back exposed while giving her an aura of gratefulness and nobility. She wore a skintight fabric that covered only her upper body, leaving little to the imagination, along with a short skirt that left her smooth and soft thighs on full display. Finally, she sported protective combat boots that went over her knees while still allowing proper bending of the joints.
(I'm not good at descriptions, but I tried. Since I can't upload pictures, you can search up "Ruby Rose - Future 3.0" By Bach Do or Dishwasher1910 on Artstation or Deviantart. That's pretty much what she looks like but without the robotic legs.)
The white haired woman cleared her throat as she tried to hide the massive blush that crept over her face. "We can never be too careful nonetheless."
"Maybe so." Answered Ruby as she walked back towards the bullhead. The natural sway of her hips adding another layer of sensuality to her already prominent charm. She gave one of her signature warm smile at one of the soldiers. "Would you be a dear and fetch my weapon for me? Do be careful not the hurt yourself, she's very... sensitive."
The man she addressed took off in a sprint while the others refused to look in her direction, too flustered to meet her gaze. The sultry tone she used certainly didn't help. Noticing this, the red-tipped-haired woman hid her lips with her fingers as a soft giggle could be heard inside the bullhead before erupting in a melodic laughter.
"Come on you guys, you're acting like you've never met a woman before!" She teased while holding her stomach.
Her laughter was abruptly stopped as she received a hit to the head courtesy of Winter. "And you still do not seem to fully grasp the effect you have on people."
Ruby nursed her head while glaring at the Schnee. "You didn't have to hit that hard. What if my aura hadn't been activated?"
Her only answer was a raised eyebrow as the soldier came back, dragging some kind of long mechanical suitcase.
"Here you go m'am." He panted while trying to present the object like an offering and failing due to it's weight.
The celebrity let out a endearing chuckle and pat the man's head as she effortlessly grabbed the case with one hand to the wonder of those present. "Thank you~."
He bowed his head and went back inside the aircraft as she walked away while tucking the strange suitcase behind her back. The specialist eyed the object with a sad expression.
"I... am sorry that we couldn't retrieve your previous weapon. I understand that it meant a lot to you." She said, walking alongside her.
Ruby stared at the ground longingly. "She'd been with me from the start. To lose her after such a long time was heartbreaking yes, but in the end it allowed me to... improve on her design, let's say." She replied while patting the case strapped to her back.
"It still makes no sense to me. The best weapon engineers of Atlas took one look at your design and said that it shouldn't work, yet you've already shown to us that it does." Mumbled Winter. "When will you tell us its secrets?"
The silver-eyed woman stopped in her tracks with a lost expression. "That's... still sensitive information I'm afraid."
By then, a lot of civilians had gathered nearby since Ruby killed the beowolf. Having recognized the celebrity, a good amount of them had their phones out and were either recording or taking pictures of the two women.
The specialist straightened her back, cleared her throat and extended a hand forward. "It's been a pleasure, miss Rose."
Ruby smirked and shook her hand. "I thought I already told you to call me Ruby."
Camera flashes went wild at the handshake to which neither of them reacted to, already used to the chaos of the media.
"At least none of them are news reporters or paparazzies." They both thought at the same time.
Taking advantage of the noise around them, Winter whispered. "Are you sure you didn't want us to drop you off closer to the capital?"
"No need, you have done so much for me already. Besides, I am quite fast on land." Replied Ruby in the same tone. "Plus, I believe you should get back to Atlas as soon as possible. I doubt Ironwood authorized our little trip in the first place."
The Schnee's eyebrows frowned for a split second before returning to her usual neutral expression. "I wish you the best of luck then."
The world renowned woman gave her a dry chuckle. "I've been gone for five years. I'll need a lot more than luck to talk my way out of this one."
A minute smirk graced Winters lips as she walked back towards the bullhead, who's engine flared right as she did so. "Should you ever find yourself in Atlas once again, do call." She replied as the backdoor of the bullhead slowly closed.
As only her shoulders and up were still visible to Ruby, the young woman spoke. "Make sure to keep Weiss out of trouble."
Unfortunately, the door had already almost closed by the end of her sentence, making her unable to see the specialist's reaction. She shrugged before heading towards the small crowd behind her.
Inside the bullhead, the soldier that gave Ruby her weapon gave Winter a questioning look. "Were you not going to tell her that your sister enrolled at Beacon m'am?"
The Schnee sighed before heading for her seat. "She'll find out someway or another anyway." Staring out the window, she could see that the silver-eyed young adult was taking pictures, shaking hands, and hugging the fans that had gathered. All with that charming warm smile on her face.
"A hug would have been nice..." She thought to herself as they flew away.
