In early honor of Grandparents Day this, I hope you all enjoy the first chapter of this new story.

I never knew my grandparents, but my mother has told me a lot about her mother, and it turns out I take after her a lot. So, when I look in the mirror, I can sorta see her.

So, if your grandparents are still around, be sure to let them know how much you love them. Someday, we might be grandparents ourselves, so remember all the great things your grandparents have done to show their love to you whether that was simple hugs and kisses, singing songs to make you smile, teaching you how things were done when they were young, or raising you when your parents couldn't.

The kids ran down the hall to go meet their grandfather now that he was awake.

"Daddy has told me so much about what Grandpa was like," said Lamenta. "Do you think he's gonna like us?"

"Of course, he will. We're his grandkids. What grandpa doesn't love his grandchildren? My grandpa on my mommy's side loves me and Boba and always spoils us. Grandpa Qui-Gon should be fun. Uncle Obi-Wan did say once that he had a good sense of humor, and he was always great with children."

"I just hope he doesn't mind that I'm adopted," said Boba.

"Boba, we've gone over this a million times. You don't need to be related to be part of this family." Gabby said. "Besides, I think Grandpa will love you once he meets you and the rest of us."

"I meet him first!" Lamenta exclaimed as they came to the door.

"Hey, I'm the older cousin!" Gabby said, racing to meet her grandfather first.

"Hey, I'm the oldest!" Boba said, rushing in.

But as the kids rushed in, they all rammed right into each other and fell into a kid pile.

"Boba! Get off of me!' Gabby cried out as her brother lay on top of her. "Can't... breathe!"

"As soon as Lamenta gets off me," said Boba, looking at his cousin.

"Maybe if you hadn't tried to rush right past me, we wouldn't be in this mess." Lamenta said, getting up.

"Kids, be more careful." Anakin scolded.

Suddenly, Qui-Gon lost his balance again and fell to the floor, taking the twins with him.

"Whoa!" Anakin exclaimed.

"Yikes!" Carmine exclaimed.

Obi-Wan tried to help, only to lose his own balance with the others. And Obi-Wan fell onto his stomach, Qui-Gon landed on Obi-Wan, Anakin falling onto his back onto his father's, and Carmine fell forward onto Anakin's stomach. The kids laughed as the grownups were now in pretty much the same position they'd been in just a few seconds ago. Lamenta took a picture with her phone.

"Hey, you'd better not post that, Lamenta." Carmine warned.

"Don't worry, Daddy." Lamenta said, laughing. "That's for the scrapbooks."

"If you're done laughing at us," said Anakin. "would the three of you mind helping us out of this mess?"

"We're coming, Dad." Boba chuckled.

Boba and Gabby helped their uncle up first while Lamenta pulled Anakin's robe to give him a pull up. Then, the twins helped their father up so Obi-Wan could get up with a little help from Gabby and Lamenta.

"Would these adorable ones happen to be my grandchildren?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Yes, Dad." Anakin said. "These are my kids. Boba and I think you've met Gabriella."

"Indeed. And she started screaming when we met." Qui-Gon chuckled.

Gabby looked embarrassed, her cheeks turning pink.

"I didn't know we were related then; I was four at the time and saw a ghost!" Gabby defended as her brother and cousin started laughing. "How did you expect me to react?"

"Carmine reacted the same way just seeing things levitate." Anakin said.

"I told you making him watch those movies last Halloween was a bad idea." Obi-Wan said.

"Carmine never liked ghost stories as a child." Qui-Gon said.

"I can't help it if those give me nightmares." Carmine said. Then he picked up Lamenta. "Anyway, now you've met my brother's kids, but you haven't met mine."

"I'm Lamenta," said the black-haired girl with a cute wave hello.

"You both have such beautiful children." Qui-Gon said.

"We're all really happy to meet you...Grandpa." Gabby said.

Boba then looked at his father and uncle and had a question.

"Speaking of kids. I don't know if you told Dad and Uncle Carmine already, but which one's the older twin?"

The twins then both looked curious as they helped their father sit down on the bed.

"You know, I've been wondering that too." Anakin said. "Which one of us is older?"

"Anakin keeps saying it's him," said Carmine. "But we don't know for sure, as I keep telling him."

"Actually, by three minutes," said Qui-Gon. "Anakin is the older twin."

"Ha! I knew it!" Anakin said.

"Lucky guess," Carmine shrugged.

"Oh, don't act like you're not disappointed, little brother." Anakin smirked.

"Oh, really? That's what you're gonna start calling me now?" Carmine scolded. "You're only older by three minutes."

"Which makes me your big brother." said Anakin. "So I guess that means I'm your babysitter."

"Real mature, Anakin. Real mature."

"Don't the two of you start arguing about this," Qui-Gon scolded.

The kids giggled as they saw their fathers being scolded by their father.

"Any luck with standing up yet?" Gabby asked.

"A little progress, I think." Carmine said, helping his father up again, only for him to still be slightly wobbly. "But... still not quite fully balanced."

"That's to be expected." Gabby said. "But, he'll get the hang of it with a little help."

That was when the group heard a loud growling sound.

"What was that?" Carmine asked, looking around.

The loud sound came again, and this time Anakin traced it to Qui-Gon's stomach.

"Someone sounds hungry." Anakin chuckled.

"Another common effect after being revived." Gabby said.

Qui-Gon then started to feel parched.

"Thirsty?" Gabby asked, getting out some water and giving it to her grandfather.

Qui-Gon took a big gulp.

"Thank you." Qui-Gon sighed with relief.

"Let's get you something to eat." Gabby said, helping her grandfather up. "One foot in front of the other."

"Are you sure it's wise to take him outside now?" Obi-Wan asked.

"He's gotta get out sometime." Gabby said. "We can't keep him cooped up in here forever. Besides, once we explain everything to the others, I'm sure they'll adapt." And with that, the kids helped their grandfather up and out of the room.

"Careful now, Grandpa." Gabby said.

Boba, being the tallest of the three kids, did most of the giving their grandfather a hand. The girls were too short to reach his hand while he was standing up.

Looking at their grandfather, he looked like a giant to the little ones.

Qui-Gon took one slow step after another, occasionally feeling a bit wobbly. And then he found himself feeling he was going to fall!

"Oh no, going down!" Qui-Gon yelped, falling back.

Boba tried to shield himself from getting squashed with his hands, but Qui-Gon was far from light as a feather.

"No offense...!" Boba grunted under his grandfather's weight. "But you might wanna... consider losing a few... pounds!"

"Either that, or Boba needs to exercise his arms more." Lamenta joked.

"I gotcha!" Gabby exclaimed, wrapping one of her plants around Qui-Gon's waist and carefully pulling him back up.

Both girls used the Force to help steady their grandfather very gently.

"The two of you are stronger in the Force than most children your age I've seen." Qui-Gon commented once he was steadied.

"We had some good teachers," said Gabby.

"One step at a time, Granddaddy." Lamenta said.

"Firmly balanced."

Gabby stood and showed her grandfather how to steady himself.

"Let me try it on my own for a moment, children." Qui-Gon said.

Boba didn't hesitate to get out of the way; he did not want to get squashed under his grandfather's weight.

Qui-Gon wobbled on his legs for a moment but caught himself. He took a few slow steps and found himself getting the hang of walking again.

The kids started to feel glad seeing their grandfather walking steadily by himself... until he lost his balance and fell forward.

"Are you okay?" Boba asked.

"I'm fine." Qui-Gon said.

The kids were about to help him up, but he stopped them and I got started picking himself up.

"Maybe you need to stretch your legs some to make them stronger." Lamenta said. "It works for me and my parents in ballet practice."

As the newly revived Jedi and his grandchildren walked through the hall, others were shocked, flabbergasted, stupefied by the sight of Qui-Gon Jinn alive.

"What the-?!" gasped one Jedi before bumping into another shocked Jedi.

Some of the younglings couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Qui-Gon alive.

"Is it just me or does that look exactly like Master Qui-Gon Jinn?" whispered one kid.

"I see him too!" whispered another.

"So much for no one noticing." Lamenta said sarcastically.

"Well, we're not trying to hide Grandpa anyway." Gabby said as they walked into the commissary. "They'll get used to him eventually."

The kids helped Qui-Gon get something healthy to eat, and got themselves something too. According to Gabby's book, it was recommended to start feeding the revived being light, healthy stuff like green vegetables, bananas, apples, and milk to build strength in the body.

Qui-Gon began to feel so much better eating something, and it helped him have more energy to continue walking.

Later, the kids took a little time to talk to their grandfather as he was getting the hang of walking again.

They had so many questions.

"Do you have magical powers too?" Boba asked. "What are they?"

"Do any Jedi know about them?" Lamenta asked.

"Can you use them to do anything fun?" Gabby asked.

"Now, now, children. Settle down." Qui-Gon said. "Yes, I do have powers. No, I kept them secret from the Jedi, and given that I am simply beginning to regain my strength, it may be a while before I can use my power."

"What kind of power do you have?" Gabby asked. "Do you heal people? Do you turn invisible or shapeshift? Or talk to animals?"

"Or can you read minds?" Boba asked. "Do you make plants grow like Dad or make music like Uncle Carmine?"

Qui-Gon chuckled and shook his head.

"No. I actually inherited the main power of my grandfather King Reginald."

"And that was...?" Boba said.

"Super strength!" Gabby said, having read about her ancestors. "Our great-great-grandfather Reginald had amazing super strength. They say he could lift an entire planet if he wanted to. Or at least ten entire castles."

"I don't know if I could lift that much, my dear." Qui-Gon chuckled. "I could lift a lot though."

"Maybe we should test it to see if it's returned." Lamenta said. And she spotted a table. "That looks like something good to start with."

"A coffee table?" Boba said, crossing his arms. "Anyone can lift that."

Boba walked to an edge of the coffee table and tried to lift it, only to find it heavier than it looked.

"My mother once told me, 'Don't claim anyone can do something until you've attempted such yourself.'" Qui-Gon chuckled.

"Well, do you think you can lift it?" Gabby said.

Qui-Gon placed both hands underneath the table, and slowly started to lift it until he had the entire table above his head.

"Wow, he is strong." Gabby said.

"But that's just a coffee table." Lamenta said. "Two grownups could lift it together. Maybe we should see if he can lift something heavier."

"Like what?" Boba asked.

"I might know something." Gabby said.

"You want us to be what?!" Carousella said.

"We just need a way to test Grandpa's strength." Gabby said. "He only needs to lift you for a moment to see how strong he is now."

"Why don't you just have him lift the couch?" Remix said. "Or a piano? Carmine's got loads of heavy instruments."

"A couch can't use magic or wings to lift itself if it turns out to be too heavy, and the last thing we need is someone getting killed all over again by getting crushed under something."

The horses thought about it for a moment and saw Gabby had a point. Given that the horses were organic beings and furry, it would also be a cushier landing if they fell.

"Alright, which horse is the lightest?" Lamenta asked, looking at them.

"I think Carousella." Gabby said. "You first, girl."

Carousella stepped in front of Qui-Gon.

"Be careful, I'm ticklish." Carousella warned. "I bite if provoked."

"I understand, Carousella." Qui-Gon said, carefully positioning his hands.

Qui-Gon made sure he could hold Carousella comfortably, and lifted her above his head with ease.

Remix went next, and Qui-Gon could lift him just fine. Same with Remix. But, he had a little more trouble lifting Crescent. And Sapphire... she felt too heavy for him.

"Okay, so we know you've got a fair amount of super strength back." Gabby said. "But not quite all of it."

Gabby took her grandfather's arm and could feel he had some strong muscles underneath his sleeves.

"Wow, you've got muscles!" Gabby said. "I'm not a doctor, but I'd say with some working out and healthy eating, you'll be reaching your full potential in no time."

"You should've seen when Dad discovered his powers." Boba said. "He had so much trouble with them at first."

"Did he now?" Qui-Gon said, intrigued.

"Yeah, there was this one time when Daddy got the hiccups, and poppies grew all over the place." Gabby said. "And once, he accidentally grew a cactus that scared Uncle Obi-Wan out of bed."

Lamenta started giggling. "Unfortunately, he woke everyone else, and we all saw him wearing monkey patterned pajamas."

Gabby rolled on the floor laughing at that last one.

"It looked so cute, but so funny!"

The kids all laughed at that memory. Qui-Gon found it amusing too.

"It must've been laundry night." Boba chuckled.

"And then there was this time Daddy and I had a little song and dance number when he finally discovered what plants he specialized in." Gabby said. "Tropical plants. You know, cacti, jacaranda trees, palm trees, coconut trees, birds of paradise. Things like that. He also grows great peach trees. Point being, he's gotten a lot better at using his powers."

"As have you, my granddaughters." Qui-Gon said. "As part of the living Force, I have been watching over both of you. And you are both very gifted princesses. Each of you has great potential, and much to learn. I didn't have the chance to raise your fathers when they were growing up. I don't intend on making the same mistake with my grandchildren."
