Danganronpa: Losers Reunion

Prologue Part 1

It was hard to tell what was more painful for Sayaka, the broken wrist or the knife sticking out of her chest. She figured it was ironic or karma or whatever fitting term that punished her like this. This whole killing game thing was a nightmare. Hope's Peak was meant to boost her career even higher with her team. She worked so hard, harder than any other idol to get where she went and all the fame, cheering fans, and great music ended up leading her bleeding out in her friend's shower. Oh, Makoto. One of the few people outside of her bandmates and her father that had a good heart. Probably the kindest soul she had ever seen, and she stabbed him in the back. She hoped that she still had some energy to make things right. She dipped her fingertips into her bloody shirt and wrote a message on the wall behind her, using her broken hand to hold herself up and letting the pain of it give a bit more energy.

L E O N

She didn't get to have a good look at her message. She immediately slumped back against the wall. She could feel all the feeling in her hands and legs fade away, her breaths slowed down, and her eyes became heavy. She hoped maybe Makoto or the others would find her message and learn the truth. Maybe Makoto will understand her remorse for her actions. She closed her eyes, knowing she'd never see her bandmates or feel the warmth of the spotlight in front of cheering fans. She let out her final breath and accepted whatever fate would do with her soul.

….

Light cracked through her eyes. She groaned a bit as she lifted her head up and opened her eyes. She noticed that she was seated at a desk. She was in a dimly lit classroom.

'Did I fall asleep in class?' Sayaka thought to herself. She hoped maybe that was all just a horrible dream. It felt too real for it to be just a dream though. She couldn't have imagined the pain from her broken wrist or her stab wound.

Sayaka stopped her train of thought. She looked at her right wrist. She didn't feel any discomfort. She decided to rotate her hand a bit. Nothing again. It was like she was never hit in the first place. She looked down at her chest. Yep. No knife sticking out of her chest. She felt the need to check there was truly no wound and, after carefully seeing if she was alone, lifted her shirt up a bit. Just above her stomach there was a vertical scar that reach right next to where her heart was. That dashed away any hope that she had a nightmare. She pulled her shirt back down and went on to investigate the area.

She immediately noticed that the classroom she was in was dilapidated. The paint on the brick wall was chipped off in huge chunks and plant life actually grew into the room, covering the walls in long vines and weeds grew out from the cracks in the ground. Unlike Hope's Peak, it didn't seem like there was anyone, even a mechanical bear, to keep the place in check.

'Unless this is Hope's Peak,' she thought to herself again. Maybe Monokuma placed her there for failing to kill-

No. She couldn't think about that. She couldn't think about that at all. She was somewhere else. She had to be. She only had to find out where.

She stepped out of the room to see that the plant life and rust had managed to spread out into the hallway. As much as she loathed to admit it, she at least appreciated how well kept Monokuma kept the last school. Her train of thought was cut off once again when she heard several loud crashes echo from the hallway. It sounded like several metal pipes dropping to the floor. Normally her better judgement would tell her to avoid that, but nothing had been normal for her lately and she needed to find answers. So, she slowly walked towards the echoing sound.

"Son of a bitch!" an aggressive voice called out from another room. It startled Sayaka so much she had to cover her mouth to avoid screaming. She was right walk slowly, but she moved down to a tip toeing crawl.

"I ain't dealing with this shit again!" the voice called out again.

Sayaka knew that, even if this person wasn't the one that brought her to her new prison, she'd have to handle the situation delicately. He could still pose some threat. She took her next step as carefully as she could.

CLICK

Sayaka had accidently kicked up a small pebble and sent it bouncing across the ground. It was enough for it to echo throughout the area and catch the attention of the hidden figure as the noise in the room stopped.

"Who is that?!" he shouted out. Sayaka was too frozen to respond. "I said who is that?!"

She could hear some foots steps thumb closer to the doorway.

"You don't speak up now, I'm going make you regret it."

Sayaka finally broke her silence. She held both her hands up and spoke. "Okay, okay! I'm not doing anything! I'm standing still!"

The footsteps slowed down and there was noticeably less force behind them. Sayaka saw the tip of a pompadour poke out from the edge of the doorframe. Then, the person the pompadour belonged to stepped out. It was a familiar boy with a muscular physique, black clothes, and slightly tanned skin. His aggressive features faded away as he raised an eyebrow.

"Wait," he spoke up. "Maizono? What the hell are you doing here?"

"Wait," Sayaka spoke up. "You're the biker gang leader, right?"

"Yeah. Mondo Owada. Guess we never really did get to talk much, huh?"

Mondo Owada: Ultimate Biker Gang Leader

Sayaka frowned. Mondo being here meant that her dream theory was dashed. "So…did I really-"

Mondo returned the frown and nodded. "Yeah. You did. And I did too."

She was dead. Everything Sayaka had worked so hard was truly gone. Something wasn't right though. "But that doesn't make sense. If we're dead then why are we here? What is this place?"

"I don't fucking know," Mondo said with an agitated tone. "I've been trying to figure that out! I've been looking around this shithole of classroom for a way out."

"Well, then maybe we should look somewhere else," Sayaka suggested.

"Yeah, figured as much," Mondo said before following Sayaka down the hallway.

She couldn't say she felt comfortable around the biker gang leader. What little she did know about him from Hope's Peak was that he was quick to anger and he does attack people without thinking. That on top of his reputation made her worried about how to even speak to the boy. She knew she had to plan out her questions. There was obviously the fact the two of them had die, well, supposedly died. She did want to know how he died and if anyone else from the class had perished as well, but that was most likely a sore subject. God it was so much easier for the idol to talk to Makoto.

"So," Sayaka said to break the silence, "did you find any-"

Mondo put his finger over his lips and Sayaka stopped talking. It was another crash of metal against the ground that echoed through the halls. The two of them followed the echoes down to another classroom. Mondo, deciding to take the role of a protective man, gently held Sayaka behind him as he opened the door.

Much to their relief, nothing popped out to attack them but that didn't stop their cautious movements. They stepped inside the room and finally saw what made the sound. A trash can had fallen over to its side and two flailing legs dangling out. Mondo dashed over to the fallen man.

"Hold on, dude," he said as he grabbed the man's ankles. "I got ya."

Mondo pulled the man out of the trash can and they finally got a good look at this new companion. He was a scrawny and pale boy with white shaggy hair and a dark green hoodie. Despite the few bruises on his face, he smiled up at the biker.

"Wow, you really didn't need to help someone like me," he said with light laugh. "It's honestly just my luck to fall into the only trash can in the room."

Mondo let go of the boy's legs and helped him up to his feet. "Don't worry about it," Mondo said. "You probably freaked out when you woke up."

The boy dusted off his hoodie and laughed a bit more. "No. I just wasn't watching where I was going." The boy looked away from Mondo and spotted Sayaka. His eyes slowly lit up the longer he looked at her. "Hey. You're Sayaka Maizono, right?"

Sayaka nodded. She guessed her popularity was great enough to find a fan even in an odd place like this.

The boy then turned back to Mondo. "And you're Mondo Owada, right?" he asked. "Leader of Crazy Diamonds, right?"

"Heh, didn't know we'd find a stalker here," Mondo said.

"Sorry. I kind of have a habit of looking up potential Hope's Peak recruits," the boy smiled. "I was curious who my underclassmen would be."

"Wait, you went to Hope's Peak?" Sayaka finally spoke to the boy.

"Yes," he answered before frowning. "Well…I was supposed to. However, that was interrupted."

"So, do you know what's going on?" Sayaka asked.

"Yeah, and who the hell are you anyway?" Mondo asked.

"Oh, sorry," the boy gave an apologetic smile. "I was so caught up in this situation that I didn't even introduce myself. While I'm sure neither of you two will care to remember it, I'll be happy to tell you. My name is Nagito Komeda."

Nagito Komeda: Ultimate Lucky Student

"What's with all the self-deprecating shit?" Mondo asked less than eloquently.

"Well, compared to you guys or my classmates, I'm nothing special," Nagito said with the same smile he has had since they found him. "I only got to go to Hope's Peak because of a lottery raffle. I'm only good at being lucky."

"Don't be so hard on yourself, okay?" Sayaka frowned a bit at Nagito.

"Yeah," Mondo agreed. "Besides, being hard on yourself isn't going to help us get out of here."

"Also, can I ask you a question, Nagito?" Sayaka asked which Nagito responded with a slight nod. "You mentioned that you were going to Hope's Peak. Well, we tried to go there, but we were kidnapped and sealed inside. Then…we woke up here. Do you remember what happened to you before you woke up here?"

"I imagine there were a few other things that happened to you two," Nagito said. "Let me ask you something? Were you two involved in a killing game?"

"How the hell did you know that?" Mondo growled a bit.

"Well, because I was involved in a killing game too," Nagito explained. "Unlike you, I wasn't confined to Hope's Peak. I was kidnapped and sent to an island."

The island detail was almost too much for either of them to believe, but there was one fact that made them believe it.

"So, did you die as well?" Sayaka asked.

Nagito nodded. "Yes. My death was less than pleasant."

"What was it?" Mondo's curiosity got the better of him.

"I was gagged and tortured, my arms and legs were slashed open until I was finally killed by a giant spear."

That finally cemented it. Nagito was unusual. Despite his frail appearance and meek demeaner, he had several red flags go up. Both Mondo and Sayaka wondered how someone as innocent looking as him could meant such a violent end.

"But now that we're on the subject of this situation, I believe I may have an idea of what's going on," Nagito said.

"Really?" Sayaka raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

"Well, isn't this situation familiar?" Nagito asked. "We all pass out or die and wake up in an unfamiliar place with other students?"

"Wait, are you saying we're in another killing game?"

"Oh, fuck that!" Mondo shouted. "I lost my game! I ain't going through another one!"

"It doesn't look like we have a choice," Nagito said rather coldly. "Besides, it's just a theory right now, and we're not going to find anything out if we just stand around."
Mondo groaned and ticked some breath out, but Sayaka looked up to him.

"He is right though," she said.

"I know, I know," Mondo said. "But damn it, I'm not liking it."

And with that, the three of them went off to investigate the rest of the building. Sayaka took mental notes of how the whole building was a dilapidated mess. The vegetation had grown all over the place, some even growing out of cracks in the floor and the wall. She wondered, if they had been placed in another killing game, why change the location from the locked down Hope's Peak to a rundown school. Mondo on the other hand was pissed off. He'd rather be in Hell than deal with another potential killing game. It's what he felt he deserved after what he had done. Their train of thought was cut off when she could hear some sobbing from another room. They weren't alone. Mondo stormed over to the room and kicked in the door. To both of their surprise, the crying individual was a giant of a man, with a goatee and muscles so big they looked like they would burst out of his own skin.

"This isn't fair!" the titan of man whined out. "Why did I have to go back to this?! I could cry cola and everything!"

Neither Sayaka nor Mondo understand what he was ranting about, but they approached him anyway.

"Um, hello?" Sayaka spoke up.

"Hmm?" the giant man hummed a bit before peaking around his shoulder to see the two strangers. He stood up straight, easily towering over Mondo. "Hello there!" he shouted out. "Sorry, I didn't notice you there!"

Mondo stuck his finger into his ear to get rid of ringing. "Yeah, yeah," he grumbled a bit. "Who the hell are you anyway?"

"Nekomaru?" Nagito peered out from behind Mondo. He smiled when he recognized the giant. "Nekomaru! It's so good to see you again."

"Nagito?" Nekomaru responded. "You were a bit weird, but it's always nice to see a familiar face."

"Wait, you know him?" Sayaka asked Nagito.

"I do," Nagito said. "He was one of my classmates in my killing game."

"Indeed," Nekomaru spoke loudly. "I AM THE ULTIMATE TEAM MANAGER, NEKOMARU NIDAI!"

Nekomaru Nidai: Ultimate Team Manager

"Sup. Name's Mondo Owada. Ultimate Biker Gang Leader"

"Hello. I'm Sayaka Maizono. My talent is the Ultimate Pop Idol."

These polite greetings (at least in Sayaka's case, it was polite) were met with a wild grimace from Nekomaru. He then shouted.

"What was that?! Put some energy into your introductions! I expected more from a biker and a singer!"

"I don't care about that right now," Mondo snapped. "We got better things to worry about! Like getting out of here."

"Oh," Nekomaru quickly lowered his voice. "I suppose that is true. What is this place anyway?"

"We don't know," Sayaka said with a frown. "We all woke up here after we…died."

"Wait, so this isn't a weird dream?" Nekomaru asked before grabbing the sides of his head. "I'm really not a robot anymore?!"

Sayaka and Mondo were…speechless. Sure, they could accept the killing game. They could accept the animatronic bear. They could even accept the idea they had died. But the idea of Nekomaru being a robot at one point was…stupid. Luckily for them, Nagito was able to steer the conversation to a more sensible direction.

"Look, why don't we keep searching this place?" Nagito asked. "If we do, we may find more of our fellow friends and some answers?"

"Hmmm, you're right," Nekomaru snapped back to a more sensible mindset. "Lead the way, friends."

With that, Nagito stepped out of the room with Nekomaru following right behind him. Sayaka and Mondo walked behind them, but their movements were slow as they conversed.

"Well, he's certainly energetic," Sayaka said while forcing out a chuckle.

"He's loud and annoying," Mondo said rather harshly. "He'd at least make a good workup partner."

"There we go," Sayaka said in a teasing tone, "some positivity."

Mondo gave Sayaka a sideways glare, "Don't push it, Maizono."

Sayaka gulped a bit and turned her attention back to following Nagito and Nekomaru. Normally, her being an idol would make her the most unusual person in a group of people, but in her situation, she was probably the most normal person around. Mondo and Nekomaru were more muscular than anyone she had ever seen and Nagito…She couldn't quite place what was off about him. Maybe it was how unphased he was waking up in an unfamiliar place or due how similar to Makoto he was, but she was uneasy around him. Maybe if they ran into another girl she'd have someone she could connect with better.

Just then, Nekomaru stopped in his tracks.

"What is it?" Nagito asked.

"Don't you guys hear it?" Nekomaru responded.

"Hear what?" Mondo asked.

"There are two people arguing," Nekomaru explained. His left ear twitched a bit and he turned to face an unchecked door labeled 'Supply Room'. He pointed at it. "There!"

Sayaka decided to stop hanging in the back and approached the door. She opened it to take a look inside, but instead she was met bombarded by two loud voices.

"There is no need for such vulgar language!" shouted a young man in white clothes and angry eyebrows. "All I asked you was to wear more appropriate clothing! It's unbecoming of a young lady to wear such unsightly attire!"

"How about ride a dick, you closeted bitch!" retorted a blonde in a revealing purple outfit and goggles. "I can dress however the fuck I want, and it's not like you weren't enjoying the show."

The young man's face turned red. "I-I did no such thing!" he denied. "Your outfit makes it impossible not to see your…figure!"

"Oh I couldn't help it, oh they're just impossible to miss, I didn't mean to look at them," the blonde said in a mocking tone. "Give me a break. You're just like any other virgin loser I've ever met. You just want to rail a beauty like me."

"Young lady," the young man clenched his fist, "you are by far, the most vulgar and disrespectful person I've ever met!"

"Taka?" Sayaka spoke up.

That name was enough to spur Mondo into action. He shoved his way past the others to enter the room. "B…bro?"

The angry looking man's ears perked up and he turned around. His eyebrows rose up and his mouth hung open. "B-bro?" he spoke up. "And Maizono? But…I saw both of you die. Was it all a dream?"

"No, man," Mondo frowned a bit. "It happened. We did die…"

Taka frowned as well. "Then, it was all true. Everything…"

"Yeah…"

Sayaka didn't know what happened between the two of them. Last time she took notice of them, Mondo and Taka were at each other's' throats, but she was willing to give the two of them a moment to connect. However, someone else wasn't as patient.

"Not to be rude, but I feel like we're getting distracted," Nagito spoke up. "Do you mind if you introduced yourselves?"

Taka snapped out of his somber state and stood up straight as if he was in the military. "My name Kiyotaka Ishimaru!" he shouted out loud. "I am known as the Ultimate Moral Compass! However, you are free to call me Taka!"

Kiyotaka Ishimaru: Ultimate Moral Compass

Nekomaru laughed boisterously. "Now that's an introduction! I am NEKOMARU NIDAI!"

"A moral compass?" Nagito tapped his chin as he thought the detail over. "So, you are someone that leads by example. That's a title you should be proud."

"Of course I'm proud of my title!" Taka smiled proudly. "It is my mission to make sure my fellow students perform to the best of their abilities and reach their true potential as upstanding citizens of society!"

"Um, this like sausage fest is interesting and all, but can you bitches stop ignoring me?" the blonde rudely interrupted the conversation.

Mondo didn't take the interruption too well, as his eyes practically burst into flames at the girl. Nekomaru however was willing to indulge the vulgar girl. He approached her and held out his hand.

"Hello there," Nekomaru greeted with a smile. "I am Nekomaru Nidai!"

"Hey, watch it!" the blonde suddenly shouted and backed up. "I know my body's rocking, but don't think I'll let any meathead fondle these puppies!"

"Wh-what?!" Nekomaru's face turned red. "I wasn't trying to do anything like that!" Nekomaru holds his hands up. "See? I'm not touching you!"

"And you, bluenette!" the blonde turned away from Nekomaru to call out Sayaka. "Don't think that just because you're a girl that you can eye me up all you want."

"Wh-what?" Sayaka echoed Nekomaru's words and blush. "I-I wasn't looking at-"

"Oh, yeah sure," the blonde rolled her eyes. "Everyone says that they aren't looking when they're caught red handed."

"I swear I wasn't," Sayaka protested once again, but shook her head. She quickly put together that this was the kind of person that wouldn't let things go easily. It would be for the best to change the subject. "Look, who are you anyway?"

"You want to know want to know who I am?" the blonde asked before smirking. "Can't say I blame you. Everyone should know who I am. I'm the beauty whose golden brain and golden rack is going to change the world! The Ultimate Inventor, Miu Iruma!"

Miu Iruma: Ultimate Inventor

"Ultimate Inventor?" Nagito's eyes lit up. "That really is a wonderful talent you've been blessed with."

"And what an introduction," Nekomaru laughed.

"Oh, you can keep flattering me all you want, but don't expect me to tug you off for it," Miu said before laughing out loud.

"How can someone so bright be so disgusting?" Taka asked.

"Wait a second," Sayaka spoke up. "Something's wrong here."

"What is it?" Nekomaru asked.

"Well, Taka, Mondo and I never met this person before," Sayaka explained, "Was she not in your killing game?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"Because that means there was another killing game, dumbass!" Mondo hissed out.

"A third killing game?!" Taka gasped.

"Hey, mechanic chick," Mondo turned to Miu. "You got captured by Monokuma too?"

"That monochrome piece of shit?!" Miu shouted out. That was obviously a yes. "That guy sent some rapey fucks out and they yanked me into their car! Next thing I knew, I woke up in the Ultimate Academy with some others."

Sayaka raised an eyebrow at Miu, "The Ultimate Academy? Isn't that just Hope's Peak Academy?"

"The fuck is Hope's Peak?"

Everyone just stood there staring at Miu, baffled by what she had just said.

"How do you not know what Hope's Peak Academy is?!" Taka asked in his usual loud tone. "Hope's Peak is the most prestigious in all of Japan! It's meant for the best of the best to rise up into legend." Taka's energy dropped down. "At least, it was supposed to be like that."

"Well, I never fucking heard of it," Miu said, dismissing the school's existence. "I was stuck at the Ultimate Academy. Monokuma didn't bothering explaining a damn thing about it. All I know is that it was a massive dump like this place."

"We didn't even get placed in a school," Nagito said. "We were immediately taken to a Jabberwock Island before Monokuma started the killing game."

"What the hell?!" Mondo exclaimed in shock.

"Why did you guys get the tropical island while we got the shitty schools?!" Miu shouted.

"That may have to wait," Nagito said. "We still have plenty of questions we need to solve. Miu, I'm assuming that you died too."

"What?" Miu raised an eyebrow. "You dumbasses got killed too?"

"There's no reason to call us that," Sayaka said with a frown. "But yes. From what we recall, we did die."

"Well, what the fuck? How can that be possible?"

"We won't find anything out if we don't investigate immediately!" Taka shouted. "Let us head out immediately and please, Miss Iruma, refrain from using foul language."

Miu let out a groan and flipped two birds off to Taka. "How about this? You can't tell what to do, you homo-repressed dork!?"

Miu had just crossed a line. While no one in the room was the kind of person to strike a woman, one man definitely wasn't one to hold back if pushed far enough. Mondo with fire in his eyes and a vein pulsing on his forehead, approached Miu as he cracked his knuckles.

"Listen here, chick," he growled. "You talk shit about my bro, and I'll kick your ass so bad you'll shit your own teeth."

"Nyeh!" Miu's mouth quivered as she backed away from the group. "Wh-why are you threatening me?!"

"Did she just back down?" Sayaka nearly giggled at the rude girl trembling in terror. Seeing mean girls get their just desserts was something she forgot she enjoyed.

Mondo's features softened and blew air out of his nose. "Pathetic," he said before turning around and exiting the room.

Taka, who had been staring in terror as his brother threatened the blonde, straightened his posture back up and cleared his throat. "Right. Well then, let us head out into the unknown friends!"

With that, Taka marched out of the room, leading the rest of the group to follow him. Sayaka had hundreds of thoughts rushing through her mind. She wondered what happened to the rest of the class from her killing game. Was Makoto ok? Were her bandmates ok? Did no one find about her kidnapping? What about the other killing games these other students were in? She knew that, like the last killing game, she wouldn't get any answers anytime soon. She could only hope the other potential students there would be less unusual.

So that's the first part of this new story. This doesn't mean my Mortal Kombat story is done, but it is on hold until I feel like I can properly focus on it. Now this story came from, admittedly, a role play project I was doing that ended up ending early after the first class trial. It's also based on a few different fanfics that feature the dead characters of Danganronpa being placed in other killing game. Danganronpa: Discordant Echoes being one of the main influences, although instead of Kaede being the lead it's the other musician waifu lol.

Now while Sayaka will be the main lead of the story, there will be plenty of times where we break away to see what the other characters are up to. There's over 30 of them and they're bound to have good interactions and arcs to go through, that will be fun to work with.

As always, feel free to leave reviews to tell me what you think. I personally feel that this part was a bit too fast paced, but that's just me.
