Mission 1: Hiring the Hunter

Many years ago

It was late at night in the large castle in Hell, as the King of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar was tucking his one and only daughter, Charlotte, in bed. "Good night Charlie, sleep tight." He kissed her forehead and was about to walk out of the room until his daughter, who looked to be around six (at least in demon years) held on to his tailcoat.

"Daddy, can you tell me a bedtime story?" She asked her father who looked at her curiously.

"A bedtime story, why do you want a bedtime story?" He raised an eyebrow as he looked at his child.

"Because it will help me sleep better." She answered her father as she was hugging one of her ram dolls. "Can you daddy, pretty please?" Her eyes getting wider as she pouts.

Lucifer gave a light chuckle as he couldn't say no to a face like that. "Alright, but only one." He told her as he sat down on the edge of her bed and thought of something. He didn't want her to tell a scary story, otherwise, she will not be able to sleep, and will most likely be crying to Lilith, who would make him sleep on the couch tonight. But he also didn't want to tell her something so cute and had a happy ending, he did after all have a reputation. Then it came to him. Something that actually happened that was somewhat scary but had a happy ending in a sense. "Have I ever told you about the Hell Knight named Sparda?"

Charlie shook her head. "No. Is it scary?"

"A little, but not too much. In fact, it actually happened." Lucifer told her as she was now looking curious. "It all happened before you were even born. Heaven and Hell were at peace with each other for some time. Me and your grandfather will keep the peace so long as neither of us touches the realm of humans. That all changed however when one demon Overlord named Mundus got tired of the peace and gather an army to take the human realm claiming that he was the King of hell. Me and your mother got word of this, joined the humans for a time being, and tried to put down the opposing demons otherwise it will bring an Armageddon."

"Armageddon? What's that?" Charlie asked.

"It's what the humans call the end of the world. Almost like how the dinosaurs died." He explained. "Anyway Me, your mother, and our forces fought Mundus for days. Days soon became weeks, weeks became months, months became years but neither side was gaining or weakening. That is until a Hell Knight named Sparda wielding a powerful sword challenged Mundus in combat."

"Did he win?" Charlie asked.

"He did," Lucifer answered. "He defeated the traitor and sealed him up inside a marble statue location on some island. After that, the demons that fought for Mundus were easy to fend off as they were either killed or imprisoned. I was very thankful Sparda and I offered him a possession as an Overlord. But he declined very kindly."

"Then what happened daddy?" Charlie asked.

"He stayed in the human realm, fending off any demons that escaped hell," Lucifer told her. "But that's all I can tell you, now good night." He patted her head and walked out the door while turning off the lights.

Charlie was laying in bed as she was staring at the ceiling. "The Hell Knight Sparda, I want to meet him someday." She smiled as she was falling asleep.

Present-day

Charlie, now a full-grown adult, woke up in her hotel room as her girlfriend Vaggie was still asleep. The Princess of Hell got up, took a shower, got dressed in her red tuxedo, and headed downstairs to the main lobby with a skip. 'Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it.' She told herself as she went into the dining room where Alastor had several plates of sausage, bacon, bisects, and grits. "Morning Al, wow this all looks delicious." She eyed the food and took a bite out of a bisect.

"Morning my dear, you seem to be in a good mood today." Alastor smiled at her as he put the plates on the dining room table. "Something special happened?"

"No, I just have a really good feeling today." Charlie smiled as she started to eat her breakfast.

"That's what you said the last time and the day before that and the day before that one." Angel Dust came in wearing an opened robe and his undergarment. "Hate to break it to you toots, but it's going to be like every fucking day." He walked over to grab some breakfast, but Alastor grabbed a plate as he kept moving the food. "Hey! What the fuck gives!?"

"Cover yourself. Some of us are trying to keep an appetite." Alastor told him as he still had his smile but with more narrowed eyes.

"Like what you see Al baby!" Angel Dust teased the Radio Demon as he pushes his fluffy chest together. Alastor still had that stone-cold smile on him as the Spider demon pouted. "Alright, fine." He covered himself more with his robes and tied the belt on. "Done. Happy now?"

"Very," Alastor told the spider as he handed him a plate. "Though he is kind of right Charlie my dear. It's been days since I've been here, and no one has even checked in the hotel, I seem to lack the entertainment I so desire."

"Well, I have a feeling we will have a guest checking in today. I can feel it." She told them. "And you will be getting your entertainment Al, so don't you worry."

"Whatever," Angel said as he was digging into his breakfast. "If you do get a guest here, I'll stop making sex puns for the whole day."

"I doubt that." Alastor laughed as he fixed his monocle. "That will be the day when the Executioners didn't kill enough demons."

At Lucifers Castle

"I can't believe the Executioners didn't kill enough demons," Lucifer said as he is looking over his paperwork. "I made a deal with my own father, and his damn Executioners didn't do much, fuck!" He rubbed his face as he stretched the bottom lids of his eyes. "This was so much easier when Sparta was in the human world." Then it hit him, Sparda. "That's it. Sparda, or at least his son most likely. I heard he became a devil hunter after Mundus followers tried to kill the family and he did stop Mundus from taking over the demon world, again. Not to mention putting a name for himself." Lucifer grins as he was more than delighted to have someone as powerful as the Son of Sparda to be of some assistants. "Now what's the best way to contact him. I'm sure a simple phone call will suffice." He picked up the phone in his office, but realized something, he didn't have his number. "I should find out first."

At Devil May Cry

The phone rang at the demon hunter agency, as a man with silver-white hair, wearing black leather pants and a red vest was asleep in his chair, while he had his feet up on the desk and a magazine covering his face. The phone continued to ring as the man let loose a soft yawn, stretched out his arms, took the magazine off his face, then picked up the phone. "Devil May Cry, how may I help you?"

"Yes, Am I speaking to the demon hunter named Dante?" Lucifer asked over the phone.

"Who's asking?" Dante asked as he still had his feet on the desk.

"The Devil," Lucifer told him. There was a long pause for about a minute till the demon hunter let loose a chuckle.

"You have to do better than that pal. Cause I have some stuff to do." Dante hung up the phone. It started to ring again, but the demon hunter pulled the cable off the back. Strangely it continued to ring as Dante stared at the phone now thinking that this was no ordinary client. So, he picked up the phone again.

"Do I have your attention now?" Lucifer asked the demon hunter.

"Well, I wouldn't say I'm too surprised but yeah, you got my attention now," Dante told him as he sat up in his chair. "So, what do you want with me?"

"I need you to help me to lower the population in hell," Lucifer told him. "We can talk more about it in my office. I'll have an escort waiting for you outside, Son of Sparda."

With that, the King of Hell hung up the phone and three minutes later, Dante heard a honk outside his office and saw a large white limo parked outside his agency. "This guy has some class if I'm riding in style." He said as he grabbed his boys, Ebony & Ivory, his childhood friend: Rebellion, and his long red coat as he entered the limo. A pentagram was seen right in front of the car as it drove straight and entered then disappeared in plain sight.

Back in hell

The limo drove right in front of the large castle as the cyclops valet opens the door for the demon hunter. Dante stepped out as he looked at the exterior and whistled. "The king sure knows how to live." He walks through the large front doors and walks through the corridor as he saw a lot of décors that feature apples, snakes, or anything else that speaks hell.

"Ah Dante, welcome to my humble home!" Lucifer greets his guest of honor as he declines a stairwell.

"So, your Lucifer gotta say, was not what I pictured." Dante looking at the man as he had his guard up. After all, this is the true King of Hell. Not someone like Mundus or Argosax who called themselves kings.

"Would you prefer my more demon form?" The Devil asked him as his eyes turned red.

"Nah, better this way so I don't put a bullet through you," Dante told him as Lucifer laughed.

"I like you already, come now we will discuss everything in my office." He led the devil hunter to his office. Once they arrived, Lucifer offered him a chair as he sat behind his desk. "Not to waste any more of your time, I'll get to the point. Hell is being overpopulated by sinners from all over the world, and to keep the population down and not make it into a warzone, once every year, God sends his executioners from Heaven to purge hell. But this year has not been a good one since not many were killed this year, so I thought bringing the famous Dante here could really help me out. After all, I am a friend of your dear father. So, what do you say?"

"Well, that actually depends on how I'm getting paid. After all, I do run a business." Dante told him. "Not to mention some of the bastards I defeated are here as well. And, no offense, you did a lousy job keeping the demons from coming into the human world."

"Well I can't blame you for that, I mean some demons do slip in the cracks here and there, but I can't be fully blamed since there are some Overlords who bend the rules." Lucifer defended himself. "As for payment, it also depends who you kill, a lower demon like an imp is peanuts while a kingpin and an Overlord is worth more. But do be careful who you kill as an overlord. I don't want some other asshole rising in power and making more of a mess than Hell already is."

"Duly noted. If I run into Mundus again, I'll send him to double Hell for sure." Dante said as he leans back.

"He's in tight security since his second escape to the human world. I doubt he will escape this time. With that out of the way, I should let you have your fun." Lucifer got out of his chair and shook Dante's hand.

"Just one more question, your excellency, since I'm bringing a lot of demons down, this will take days, so got a place for me to crash?"

Before Lucifer could answer, someone opened the door to the office, and there stood a tall, pale, thin, blonde-haired woman who wore a black sleeveless dress with long matching gloves that go to her elbow, silvery eyes with long eyelashes with dark eyeshadow and black lipstick with a black tiara. This was the Queen of Hell: Lilith Morningstar. "Darling, I'm sorry to barge in but- oh hello. I didn't know we had company. Darling who is this?"

"Ah, Lilith I would like you to meet Dante, Sparda's boy. Dante this is my wife, Lilith." Lucifer introduced them as Lilith walked over to them with the click of her high heels.

"Sparda's son you say?" She smiled as she grabbed the devil hunter's face and began to examine him. "My, my you sure are handsome, certainly got that from your father."

"That means a lot coming from a pretty lady like you." Dante wink which made the Queen of Hell give off a giggle.

"Quite the charmer. I'm sure you say that to a lot of ladies." She took her hands off him and faced her husband. "Anyway darling, I wanted to tell you that don't you think it's about time you visit Charlotte?"

"I wish. But I can't." Lucifer told her.

"You can't or you won't?" She asked narrowing her eyes and folding her arms as she gives him a serious stare. This got the Devil to look nervous as he was staring into the icy cold stare of his wife.

'I know who wears the pants in the household. Might as well break the ice.' Dante thought to himself. "I hate to interrupt but who is Charlotte?"

This made Lucifer and Lilith look at the devil hunter till the Queen of Hell spoke up. "Charlotte or Charlie as she likes to be called is our daughter. She is trying to run a hotel to rehabilitate sinners." Suddenly a thought came to her mind. "How would you like to be spent your time there while you're in hell? It could actually do you both some good, what do you think dear?"

"Actually, before you came in, we were discussing where he will be staying. So that's a good idea" Lucifer said as he took out her phone to show the demon hunter a picture. "Here's what she looks like." He showed Dante as he saw a girl who looked to be in her 20's or so and had the pink cheeks of her father as well as his other features.

"Not bad." Dante nodded. "She's not a knockout like her mom, but still she has some charm to her."

"She's already dating someone," Lucifer said as he crushed his hopes. "Anyway, her residence is called the Hazbin Hotel. A big sign on the building, can't miss it."

"Thanks, I'll be sure to tell you that you send your regards to her," Dante said as he walked out the door as both Lucifer and Lilith waved goodbye.

"You know, she's is going to freak out that he's Sparda's son and what happened," Lucifer said to his wife.

"Like I said, dear, it will be good for both of them," Lilith told him. "After all, it's for our daughter's happiness and future."

"When you're right, you're right. Now how about I make it up to you." Lucifer said in a seductive tone.

"I think I know one way you can." She smiles as she drags him to their bedroom.

Meanwhile, Dante walked out of the Castle estate and looked out in the distance to see the building with the name Hazbin Hotel on it. "Well Princess, I'll be checking in." He told himself as he started to walk in that direction.
