Prologue

She doesn't know how it happened. Only that it did and she would be a fool to waste such a chance.

Sitting in front of her father, The King Viserys as he waits for his words to sink in.

She knows she's had this conversation with him, knows the choices she made, and the life that it let her to.

She knows the feelng of her heart being ripped apart with grief. She's a dragon, shes supposed to be strong, but the news of the death of her lover, the real father of her children, killed in a fire.

Destroyed her.

She was distraught and confined to her chambers upon hearing the news. Only being able to love him in secret. She could not explain to others why she had such great emotions over the news of The Stongs death at Harrenhal.

She must have cried herself to sleep, for what occurred during the hours of her slumber she was unaware.

Waking up that morning with tears already forming. She nearly screamed as she glanced into her mirror.

She was but herself at 10 and 7, young again. She waited for her dream to end, to wake and see her children run through her chamber doors, but it never came.

If she was losing it, and this was all an elaborate hallucination she could not tell. A knock soumded at her door as her lady maids entered and began readying her for the day.

Her father was requesting her presence. She was told.

So here she sat. The pain of her loss, so fresh.

She sat as the young girl she was, the woman she had grew to be was gone. Another attempt at her life. A second chance.

"Rhaenyra please child, do not ignore me. This is what you wanted. I'm leaving this up to you." Viserys said. Sighing he took her hand in his own. Breaking her of her thoughts, she looks into her father's eyes at his touch.

"You can choose who you marry, but you must mar- " Viserys began.

"Ser Harwin" Rhaenyra said abruptly. Shocking her father. He expected a fight still or for his daughter to avoid choosing till she could no longer prolong it.

"Ser Harwin Strong" Viserys questioned.

Rhaenyra nodded "Yes father, I choose Ser Harwin".

If this was truly a second chance she had been given. She would take it.

She would choose him. Love him from the start.

They had only but 10 years in secret together, but now they could have more. No need to hide. He could claim their children proudly. Raise them with her.

She had to choose this for him. For their boys who resembled their father so much it could not be hidden. They could have the chance to be happy.

She could see her father thinking over her response.

Wondering why she chose him.

At this age, the first time she lived this. She had only spared Harwin a small hand full of looks, her father must be thinking of how she came to this choice. She must give him more of a reason.

"Just think father. Our Dagon blood with Stong blood. Our future heirs. Ser Harwin is the Commander of The City Watch. A brave man. His house is loyal to us, his father is on the council and has never lead you wrong. This is a man I would be happy to marry, if you let me". She said.

Viserys listened to his daughter as she explained her choice. Though he doesn't believe he would have made this match his first suggestion. He did decide the choice would be hers, he could not take that from her. The Strongs were a good family. One as his daughter mentioned were loyal to the Targaryens. Ser Harwin Strong was a beast of a man, his size alone many found intimidating. The image his daughter painted began to form, of the Targaryen and Strong blood heirs. Oh they would be strong, no doubt.

Rhaenyra waited anxiously. Her father did say she could choose, but there was a chance he could not agree with her choice and her second chance would be over before it began.

Viserys smiled at his daughter. Rhaenyra released a breath she was unaware she had been holding.

"If this is truly your choice Rhaenyra, then I agree. Ser Herwin would make a wonderful match. I shall call upon Ser Lionel, inform him of this union. See if their house is agreeable." Viserys had barely finished speaking before he was attacked.

Rhaenyra forgetting to be graceful in her excitement had jumped from her seat to hug her father tightly.

Composing herself she took a step away from her father, smiling up at him. She thanked him and began to take her leave.

She would have her second chance.

My love, I'm coming. Together we will make sure our house stays strong.
