It was a normal winter day in Chicago.
It was December 10th.
The city was white with a great deal of snow.
Life of the Halstead brothers proceeded as usual.
Jay was in the district that morning, it was paperwork day.
The archive had to be updated with the cases resolved in the last few weeks by completing where it was necessary to write the report.
The detective, however, was distracted by something that day.
- Hailey, I walk away for a moment, I have to make a phone call, - he said, heading into the relaxation room.
Shortly after a couple of rings the person on the other end of the phone answered.
- Hallo. - Natalie greeted him
- Is my brother? Why is he calling you? - Will asked.
At that moment, he was in the car with his better half as they headed for work.
- Natalie hello, am I disturbing you? I wanted to talk to you, but without Will hearing. - said the detective
- We are together right now - said Dr. Manning, throwing off the boy that he hoped to find her alone.
Realizing his difficulty, it was she who got him out of "trouble".
- So what have you decided? - Natalie said under Will's bewildered gaze - will you come to dinner with us tonight? -
It was the first thing that came to her mind.
She understood that Jay wanted to talk about something only with her.
- I can't do it tonight unfortunately. We have a case and I'm sure I'll be late. Better another time. - he lied.
So they said goodbye and each returned to his commitments.
Meanwhile Natalie tried to explain to Will that she had decided to invite Jay because she wanted their family to be together and to spend time together.
It was the first excuse the doctor had come up with, but what she was saying was not entirely false.
Meanwhile, the detective had returned to work a bit annoyed, promising to call his sister-in-law back to talk to her.
