Sweet Sugar

Chapter One

Tomato Pics

Hinata sighed as she watched her two best friends try on different pairs of heels. She wasn't sure why the duo needed new thousand dollar shoes every time they had a function to go to. They had a tendency to persuade Hinata to join them on their gala shopping days, and today was no exception. With zero tack, the two women barged into her office and promptly helped (dragged) her out of her company building. Her loyal assistant, Tamaki, turned a blind eye to her boss' pleading gaze, pretending to be on the phone.

Hinata pouted. Tamaki was a traitor. She could've at least suffered with her! It was nearing hour three of Ino's shopping spree and Hinata could feel her socialization meter hitting empty.

"I like the tan ones but it doesn't go well with my dress," Ino pouted before turning to the nervous salesgirl hovering next to her. "Can you get me this in that peacock color? Thank you, doll."

Sakura examined the shoe before nodding. "It's cute but don't you have that one already?"

Ino looked scandalized. "I have it in black, not peacock."

Jade eyes gave Hinata a look, which only made the heiress smile back. The three of them may have grown up swimming in money but Ino was by far the most high maintenance of them all. It was a wonder how her fiancé, Sai, dealt with her constant shopping adventures. She figured being a world renowned painter must've help ease the loss on his bank a tad.

Hinata could understand her almost reckless spending habits. Ino was the first generation of her family to be brought up with wealth so of course, no expense was spared when it came to her. She was also an only child, so her parents spoiled her with whatever her heart desired. Sakura had a familiar upbringing but her parents really pushed her to do well in school and with the help of a college professor, she was able to land a prestigious career as a surgeon in the hospital her father owned.

A loud 'ding!' broke Hinata out of her musings. Fishing her phone from her purse, she noticed it was a notification from an app she didn't recognize.

"SweetSugar? What in the world..?"

Her confusion must've caught Ino's attention because the blonde leaned over to see the screen. Privacy was never a luxury when the Yamanaka heiress was around. Her audible gasp made the other two twenty five year olds look at her with raised brows.

"Hinata, why do you have that app on your phone?" Purple nails all but snatched the phone from its owner.

Hinata blinked. She didn't even recognize the name of it. By the dramatic reaction it caused, it couldn't be a positive thing though. "I must've downloaded it by a-accident. Do you know that app?"

"This is a sugar mama dating app!" She whisper-yelled, causing Sakura to shush her while making sure no one was around them.

Sakura smiled to the salesgirl as she came back with Ino's shoes before assuring her they didn't need anymore help. Once she was gone, the pinkette whipped her head back to a shocked Hyuga. "What are you doing with a sugar mama app?"

Ino smiled cheekily before opening the notification, "Obviously she's trying to find a sugar baby, billboard brow~!"

Before they could volley insults, Hinata got her composure back and shook her head. "I-I am not. Hanabi has been trying to make me dating profiles so maybe she just downloaded that one by mistake?"

Ino scoffed in disbelief, fingers scrolling down the iPhone. "It was no accident, my sweet little Hinata. She set you up with a whole profile and everything. Wow! She even used those pictures we got of you when we took that girls trip to Bora Bora! Ooh she's good!"

Knowing exactly which picture she was talking about, Hinata felt her face heat up before she snatched the phone back. Sure enough, her little sister once again out-did herself, and not in a good way. The profile was done meticulously well, even down to her likes and dislikes, hobbies and goals for the future. It was scary detailed for something she did not write herself but if there was one thing Hanabi excelled at, it was poking her nose in her big sister's business.

She groaned before noticing the small notification symbol next to the envelope emoticon. With the other two still hovering over her shoulder, she clicked the message.

"Hey? That's it?" Ino scoffed, standing up straight as she quickly lost interest.

Sakura frowned, "Well, Mr. 'Susanoo723' is not a good conversationalist it seems."

Hinata stared at the message. It was just the one word greeting. Nothing crazy or outlandish like some of the other men from the previous dating sites. Her brain was still coming to grips that her sneaky sister had installed a sugar baby app on her phone! And the fact that someone had messaged her on it!

Curious as to what this person looked like, she clicked on the profile but the profile picture was of a tomato. The information on the profile wasn't very forthcoming either. This person listed their age as 25 which was comforting to know some random, fresh out of high school kid wasn't DM'ing her. Their likes listed onigiri, tomatoes (obviously) and...long walks on the beach?

"Hinata, let's go up stairs to Sak's so we can find you a gown!" Ino suggested, looping her arm around the long haired heiress's.

Pocketing her phone for now, Hinata held her grimace at the idea of spending even more time looking at different gowns when she has plenty that were gathering dust in the back of her closet.

Hinata patted the tan arm on her before smoothly grabbing her purse, "Actually, I am going to use one of my gowns I have already. I have to pick up Hanabi from school so I'll catch up with you two later."

Before they could tease her about her flustered face any further, Hinata made a hasty escape right out of Neiman Marcus into the parking lot. A little ways down, a blacked out Chevy Tahoe slowly crept up to her. The tension in her shoulders dissipated. It was always nice to have a driver since he knew exactly how anti-social his boss was.

"Are you ready to go, Hinata-sama?" Kō asked as he climbed out to greet her.

She waved her hand in an affirmative before opening the door and hoping in herself. The entire thirty minute ride, they did not speak. Kō could clearly see the young woman in distress but he had known her since she was four. If she wanted to talk, she would. Once they were turning into Hanabi's college, Hinata finally calmed down enough to call her rambunctious sister.

"Hi dearest sister of mine," Hanabi chirped over the phone's receiver.

Any other time, Hinata would adore the nickname. Today, however, it just annoyed her further. "Hanabi, what is this app you've placed on my phone? Have you lost your mind?"

Silence greeted her for a second before giggling could be heard.

Hinata sighed, dragged her hand down the side of her face. "Where are you? We're at the front."

Her answer was the end dial tone followed by the opening and closing of the door opposite of her. Glaring at the identical lavender eyes staring at her, Hinata crossed her arms.

"Explain yourself."

Hanabi discarded her backpack on the floor before pulling out a piece of paper from her jean pockets. "You're not even gonna ask me how my exams went? What a rude sister."

The paper was wrinkled and creased but the big '100 PERCENT' was as clear as day. With Hanabi's intelligence, her big sister knew she would absolutely crush all of her tests so this wasn't a surprise. Even so, she was proud of her hard work and even though she was frustrated with the spunky nineteen year old, Hinata smiled despite herself.

"I am proud of you, imoto. You've worked long and hard for that perfect score so you deserve it," Hinata said sincerely.

Hanabi flashed a big smile, pearly white teeth and all, "You work long and hard too so that is why I think you deserve some fun."

Hinata huffed, "Meeting random strangers online isn't fun for me. You know this."

"Maybe so," her little sister continued, "I also know that you do not have a date for the Tanaka family's gala this weekend too. That could be a good way to get father off your back for a while."

With no rebuttals, the oldest turned her attention to the city flying past her darkened window. Hanabi was right; their father had been hounding her as of late to find a boyfriend or even just to casually date. She wondered if it was prompted by Neji and TenTen's recent engagement but knew her father had no ill intentions. He was in his early fifties now and wanted to see his daughters settle down. Hinata just so happened to be his oldest and she had everything going for her, besides the a love life. With how family orientated her father's side was, it was only natural that they start to inquire about her romantic life. It was just very tiring to always have to smile and dismiss them politely.

Noticing her pensive mood, Hanabi broke the tension. "I know you don't want to date any time soon but at least bring someone to the gala. It doesn't have to be from the app, I just thought it was a funny prank. Here, I'll delete it for you."

Before she could fully register what was happening, her little sister had taken her phone from her purse on the seat next to them and had already unlocked the screen. Unfortunately, the last thing that she had been looking at was the message so Hanabi promptly pushed her away when she lunged for the phone.

"What a dry conversation starter! Oh hold on, he's hot."

Interest peeked fully, Hinata leaned over to see what she was talking about. Swiping to the side show-cased another picture - that of an empty gym with the camera man in a drenched black tank top with matching shorts, each article of clothing hugging the lean muscles of his frame. The man was tall, looking over the weight racks although his face was hidden by the phone and long black hair that hung around his face.

Hm. He is hot. From what she could see of him anyway.

"I'm gonna message him back for you."

With a mischievous grin, Hanabi began typing only for the phone to be snatched from her grip. Hinata thought she was in the clear until she caught Hanabi's sly grin. Of course her gen z sister was able to type out a message and hit send in less than three seconds. Was it too late to move countries?

She groaned into her hands, "You're grounded."

Hanabi burst into a heft laugh, silenced only when Hinata's iPhone chimed once again. That was fast.

"He replied! He said he's totally down for going to the gala! I'll call Tamaki-neesan and have her clear your schedule so you can meet him for dinner tomorrow, okay?"

When they get home, she is definitely going to look up houses in the most rural, least populated cities in the world.

Gazing out the window, Hinata pondered on her lack of resistance to the issue. It had been over two years since she'd been in a relationship. She truly must be lonely to agree to this arrangement.
